However, after the book and that dream I had complete writers block. Its usually hard for me to have writers block. I usually pick a place for my character to go to and I just start writing but this time I was stuck. Now my contract said I didn't have to write another novel for several months but I usually just get an idea and just constantly write. This time had an idea and after that dream and I just stopped. I couldn't stop thinking her, Derpy Hooves. It made me pace back and forth in my house and I never pace. Then hours of pacing became days as I tried to read the other novels I got from the library only for me to just sit there at one or two pages. Then I heard a knock at my door. “Come in!” I yelled. “Package for you!” was said by a mare's voice. I then go to the door only to see her, Derpy Hooves. “I, uh, um, er, hello, Miss Derpy Hooves.” “Hiya! I got a package for ya Mister Feather!” she said with a huge grin on her face. “I, um, thank you Miss Hooves.” I said in a embarrassing stutter. “Ah, its fine.” “Here, hold on a second,” I said and then quickly went to my desk and then gave her some bits. “Here a tip!” “Oh no, I can't accept this.” “Nonsense, thank you Miss Hooves.” “Well, okay, thank you so much.” she said with a sad looking smile. “What's wrong?” “Well, most ponies aren't that nice to me, I, uh, have never got a tip before.” I was surprised to say the least. “That's horrible! Are other ponies that mean here?” She then looked at me with surprise, I think, her eyes make it sometimes hard to tell. “Oh no, ponies in ponyville are usually always nice. It's just most ponies don't like me as their mail mare.” she said with a sad face. “I, um, sorry that happens to you.” “It's fine, thank you for being so nice to me Mister Feather, well I got more deliveries to do.” she said with a new smile on her face. “Well, just now I will always be nice to you.” I said with a confident smile on my face. “Thank you so much!” she said and then flew off. I then returned inside of my house and immediately thought about what I said to her. I kept thinking things like: Did I say the right thing? Did I word things wrong? Was I too nice? I then remembered that she delivered a package to me. I quickly looked at noticing it was from my editor. I opened it up and there he said my latest book was done being edited and I have to approve for publishing. I quickly skimmed thru all the edits he had done in the book and wrote what I though was good or unnecessary. A few hours later I was done and then wrapped up what he sent me and went to the post office. I then entered the building and once again there she was. “Oh hello Mister Feather, sorry to say but we are about to close for the day.” she said. I hadn't realized what time it was. “Oh well, I need a package sent, if it doesn't happen today that's fine, I just need it in Manehatten by next week.” “Oh we can definitely do that! At most it will take two days to get there.” “Thank you Miss Hooves, 25 bits correct?” “Yep! That's right!” she said with a big goofy grin on her face. “Thank you Miss Hooves.” “Oh you don't have to call me that, just call me Derpy.” “Oh, um, well, Derpy, thank you.” “No problem” “Uh, I will leave you alone now, you probably need to get back to work.” “Hold on,” she said with a confused look, I think. “What's wrong?” “Well, I was gonna ask you something but you look really busy and I don't want to bother you.” “No, no, I'm just about to close up, what's your question?” she said with a now expected look. “Why don't ponies like you? You're nice, you always smiling, why would they be mean?” “Oh well...” she said with sad smile. “It's my eyes and I'm just not very smart.” “What?! That doesn't sound like being not liked, that sounds like being bullied!” I said as my voice slowly got a little louder. “Um, sorry if I sounded like I'm yelling.” “No, it's okay, I'm used to it, I've always been like this.” “Oh, I'm so sorry.” “It's fine, I have to be strong for my daughter after all!” “Your daughter?” I said in a huge surprise as my mind went a million miles. “Yeah, I have an adopted daughter, Dinky Doo, did I not mention her before?” “Um, no, you didn't...” I said with a confused response on my face. “Oh, she's my little muffin! She's such a great little filly.” “Oh, well, that's great to hear! I'm glad you have something to be strong for.” “Me too!” “Well, I would, um like to be your friend Derpy.” I asked embarrassingly. “Oh, um, thank you, no stallion has ever asked me that.” she said that while slightly blushing. “Really? You've never had a colt or stallion as a friend? That's horrible!” “It's true Mister Feather.” “Please, just call me Red” “Oh, um, okay, Red.” she said stumbling on her words. “Don't worry about it.” I said and then suddenly my mouth moved without me thinking. “Could I go out on a date with you?” At that moment, both of are faces were completely red. I could tell she was looking at me intensely as if she was making sure I wasn't making fun of her. “Um what did you just say?” she said slowly. “I, uh, I, um, I, uh, uh, I, I, I, I think I, uh, asked, uh, you on a, uh, date..... maybe.” I said, constantly stuttering. She then looked at me for a few more seconds and then opened her mouth. “Yes.” “What?” I said with a big dumb face. “I said yes to your date.” she said with a straight face, “I can tell your not lying or trying to trick me.” “I, um, gosh, I, uh, didn't think this thru.” “What do you mean?” “Um, I've actually never gone on a date and I just asked you on a date.” “Well, I've never dated either, maybe, um, dinner next weekend? “Um, okay that sounds good.” She then started giggling. “What's so funny?” “You asked me on a date and then I had to plan it for you, isn't that funny?” “Heh, heh, that is funny. Well, um, thank you for accepting me.” “No, thank you for being so nice Red.” “Oh, and I still need that package delivered.” “Oh no problem. We'll get it delivered.” “Well, see you next weekend.” “Okey-Dokey!” she said with a huge smile on her face. I then left the post office leaving the bits and with a skip in my hoof. I had never felt this way. I will say though I felt good. Chapter 3 - The day an author went on his first dateI'm not sure what happened next as soon as I got home, I just know I fell asleep. There I dreamed yet another dream with me and Derpy. We were walking side by side on a seemingly endless road. We kept talking about things that I can't remember. I just know we were happy as the world passed by us as we just endless walked together hoof in each other hoofs. As we walked, she slowly became more and more beautiful, as if a goddess was walking with me. I soon woke up, seeing it was now morning. At that moment, my mind just instantly knew what to write. I immediately sat at my desk and began writing my newest book. According to my contract, My next book isn't due for several months but if I have an idea, I immediately start writing. There's no point if your idea leave you after all, you go ahead and write it. Before I knew it, hours had passed and I found a good stopping place. I couldn't believe how many hours pass when you have innovation but they do. I looked at the clock, two days till the date with her. I then tried reading the other novels I had borrowed and I realized very quickly that they weren't going to help me. I put them together and then returned to the library. “Um, hello, I would like to return these books.” I said. “Oh, Mister Feather! Did those books help you?” Twilight said in an exited voice. “Um, actually not really but I was still able to get some inspiration anyways.” “Oh really, I'm sorry.” “Oh, it's not your fault, just some books just don't help at times.” “Oh well, I think I can understand, are you now looking something else?” “Um, no, I'm just going to return these. Thank you for letting me check them out.” “Oh, no problem, say, um, could I ask you something?” “Yes?” “When's your next book coming out? Or am I not allowed to ask?” she said with a very expectant look on her face. “Well, I'm not really allowed to say but I will say my latest book is currently be reviewed to be published, so it might be a little while till it comes out. Sorry.” “Oh okay. Don't worry I won't tell anyone. Thank you.” “No problem, I just usually see any fans. Or knew that my books had many fans.” “Your books get good sales of what I have heard.” “Huh, well my editor just tells me my books just do good.” “Heh, heh, I'm surprised you feel that way. Guess that's just how an author is.” “Thank you” I said and then left the library. Before I knew it, It was the weekend and the date was about to happen. I cleaned myself up and went to meet up with her. Ironically, after we agreed to go to dinner we didn't arrange anything so yesterday we put everything together. When I went there she was already there and man, she was amazing. She wasn't in a dress or anything but I could tell she had cleaned fully up, hair done and everything. I'm pretty sure my jaw dropped when I saw her despite I was trying every way not to. My mouth then just barely opened, trying to say words. “You....Look...Amazing.” I slowly said. Her face blushed bright red, “Thank you.” “So, um, are you ready?” “Yes.” she said with a beautiful smile. We then walked to the restaurant where I constantly tried not to be dumbfounded by her beauty. We sat down and ordered a simple meal. I then tried to start a conversation. “So, how is your job?” “Well, it pays well enough. I get to travel a lot though.” “That sounds nice, I'm not a big traveler despite being a pegasus.” “That does sound odd for a pegasus but that's fine.” “What do you mean?” “Everypony is allowed to choose what they want to do, you don't want to travel, don't travel. Simple as that.” “Ha, ha, I guess that's true, I never thought of it that way. I just thought I was an outsider pegasus.” “Is that because you're an author?” “Well, mainly earth ponies and unicorns are authors. If a Pegasus writes it's usually military or workout books.” “You write something different.” “Yeah, I write a series about ironically, a traveling pony and the ponies he meets.” “So it's a traveling drama?” “You could call it that, more like a traveling soap opera.” “Huh, well I don't read much due to my, um, problems.” I could tell she was talking about her eyes, “Don't worry about it.” “Huh?” “You don't need to read my books, I honestly think they're just okay, I mean, I am proud of them but I don't want to force anyone to read them or advertise them.” “But, you should want to promote your work.” “Nah, I just love writing, it's just you need money to live in this world. Writing is my passion.” “Oh okay.” she said with an understanding face. “Thank you, what about you?” “Huh?” “What is your passion or what you love the most?” “Oh that's easy, my daughter Dinky! She's my whole world!” she said with a huge smile. “Man, you must really love her!” “Oh yes, she's the best daughter ever!” After that we kept talking for a while longer and then we finally began to leave the restaurant. I then took her home where she said someone Carrot Top was foalsitting Dinky. “Thank you for being such a gentlecolt Red.” “Does that mean I can ask you out for a second date?” I said embarrassingly. “Yes! Of course!” she said with a huge smile. “Does that mean we're dating?” “I guess it does!” Then my body moved before I could think. I kissed her right on the lips. We both then turned bright red, redder than the reddest tomatoes. “Um, good night Derpy.” “Um, yeah, good night Red.” I don't remember the trip back to my house, but I'm not sure if it actually mattered. I just knew I was really really happy. Little did I know that things were just too good to be true with Derpy though. Unfortunately, tomorrow was a different story altogether. Chapter 4 - The day an author had teaMy mind kept racing. I kissed her, holy cats, I kissed her! What do I do? Should I just ask what she thought about the kiss? Should I just ask about another date? Aw man, my mind is falling apart. Well, before I knew it, it was the next day and that was when things started to change. It started when I spent the day writing and I was writing like crazy. My next book was already almost finished, I never write this much but I was just on roll. Then I heard a knock at the door. I quickly looked at the clock and saw it was really late and then went to the door. “Hello, may I help- Derpy?!” I said suddenly. “Hiya Red! You got another package!” she said with glee. “It's quite late in the day Derpy.” “Yeah, I know, but I wanted to see you so I decided to come to you after my shift is done. You're my last stop.” “I'm pretty sure I'm not but thank you for doing such a thing, um, please come in, I'll make you some tea.” I said even though I'm not a good tea maker, I'll admit. “Oh well, I can't stay for long.” she said blushing. She gave me the package and quickly glanced at it as I went to my kitchen. It's from my editor, probably about the publisher and my last book. I started up some tea. “Thank you for letting me in.” “No problem.” “Um, thank you for being so kind Red.” “No, um, I...” “Can I ask you something?” “Uh, sure” “I wanted to ask this on our date but I didn't want be rude.” she said quietly. “What's wrong Derpy?” “Why did you ask me out? A mare like me? Didn't you know how much ponies make fun of me around here or anywhere?” “Well, um, I came to Ponyville because Manehatten is very very loud. I needed peace. As you might not know, I rarely leave this house, especially since I've been on a roll in writing in my new book. I never knew you were disliked.” “That still doesn't answer my question.” “Well, when I went to the post office for the first time and saw you. I just don't know what happened to me... You see I use romance novels to help me write my characters and well...” I said slowly. “What happened? Why are you stopping?” “It's just, well, embarrassing.” “Hee hee” she said giggling. “Your face is so red right now, it's okay, just tell me!” “This is gonna sound corny, but that night I dreamed that me and you were together in, uh, a situation similar to the book I read.” “Really?!” she said with excitement. “What was it?” “We were dancing and, um, I was going to, er, uh, kiss you....” I said very slowly. “And then I woke up.” She blushed bright red and then said. “Wow. Huh.” “After that, I, uh, couldn't stop thinking about you. Sorry.” “Why are you sorry?” “Well, it sounds really creepy in my mind.” I said, and then the tea kettle began screeching. “Oh no! The tea!” I yelled and quickly ran into the kitchen and tried to get the tea ready. “Sorry about that.” I gave her the tea and I saw a look from her like no other. Her eyes looked aligned and she looked with at me with such an expectant look. “I don't understand.” she said. “What do you mean?” “Did you fall for me at first sight?” I froze for a second and then slowly said, “I think I did, I'm not lying, I just, well...” “I never said you were lying.” “I didn't mean that, it just, you look like you can't believe it.” I then took a sip of my tea. She drank some tea, “Wow, this tastes good. Thank you.” “Oh, thank you. Um, Derpy, do you not like how I fell for you?” Her expression turned into a worry filled one. “No no no no no, I didn't mean that at all. I just can't believe it. I can't believe someone just fell for me.” “Derpy.... If you don't want to date me, I understand.” Her face turned to pure sadness, “No! I never meant that.” she then started to cry. “Oh no, I'm so sorry Derpy, I didn't mean to make you cry! Please forgive me! I'm so so sorry!” She then sniffed a few times, “I'm not sad, these are tears of joy. Thank you so much Red.” She then hugged me and I hugged her back. “Thank you Red.” “You don't need to thank me. Why are thanking me anyway?” “I thought except for Dinky and Carrot, no other ponies would really accept me.” “Oh Derpy...” I said as I hugged her more. “I need to go home to Dinky. I'm sorry but I need to go and think about some things.” “Why don't I escort you home?” “You would do that?” “Yeah, I would also like to meet Dinky.” “Yeah, that's a good idea.” We then slowly walked to her house. I kept looking at her, just admiring her beauty. That and I was trying to prepare myself for meeting her daughter. We soon got to her house and we opened he door. “MOMMY!” her daughter yelled as she jumped right on top of Derpy. “Whoa!” I said. “Hello Dinky! How's my favorite little muffin?” “I'm so happy you're home!” “Hello Derpy,” said a calm voice, I turned around to see a orange yellow pony, she must be Carrot Top. “Are you Red Feather? Huh, huh, huh?” Dinky said quickly. “Um, yes, you must be Miss Dinky Doo, it's nice to meet you.” “Wow! He is a gentlecolt like you said mommy!” she said at which then Derpy blushed. “Let's go inside.” I went inside the house, it was quite well made, but then I quickly realized what I was doing. I wanted to hit myself for almost starting to judge her house. I can't be that kind of pony. I then glanced at Carrot Top and I knew she could tell what I was thinking. She had a quick giggle and then spoke up. “I'm going to go home now Derpy, Dinky has already ate supper. I'll see you later.” “Thank you so much for foalsitting Carrot Top.” “No problem and It was nice to finally meet you Red Feather, see you later.” and then she walked out. Dinky then spoke up, “Hey, hey, hey, did you do all that kissy kissy stuff yet?” Both me and Derpy immediately blushed and looked at each other. “I don't think you're old enough to be asking at, Miss Dinky.” “Yeah, time for bed my little muffin.” “But mom! I wanna stay up and see if he's right for you.” What a crazy little filly. She sure does love her mom if she says something like that. “Don't worry Miss Dinky, we'll meet up another day and you can interrogate me all you want.” She looked at me with a puzzled look, “What does inter-ro-grate mean?” “Haha, It means you sit with someone and ask them questions.” “Oh, okay.” “I better take my leave Derpy, thank you for taking time to visit me today.” She looked at me with a huge smile. “Thank you for accepting me.” “No problem Derpy.” I then hugged her hard and kissed her on the cheek. “How about we talk about a second date tomorrow, huh?” “Okay!” she said, nodding. I then went home, I must of have one smile of my face. I was so happy. What a day! Chapter 5 - The day an author met some bulliesI slept well that night, but the next day was going to be different. I woke up and then realized I never opened the package Derpy gave me. I opened and skimmed the package. There was a message inside from my editor saying my latest book was successfully published and the paycheck was inside. Well, that amount of pay was good and could pay for the next few months of rent for my house. I put that down and began to cook myself some breakfast. Then suddenly, I heard a knock at my door. Huh, I wasn't expecting anyone. I went up to door and opened it. “Hello?” I said and there was Derpy and Dinky. “Derpy? I thought we were going to meet earlier?” “Well, Dinky wanted to see you and well, I forgot to tell you something yesterday.” “What did you forget?” “I don't work today and Dinky doesn't have school today since its the weekend. So I thought we could spend the day together. You're not busy are you?” “No, to be personally honest, I'm a little ahead of schedule of my work. I would love to spend the day with you two.” “YAY!” yelled Dinky. “Wait, I gotta be serious here. I'm watching you Red!” she said with her eyes squinted. “Are you sure you can Red?” Derpy asked. “Yeah, I'm actually a few months ahead of schedule. Don't worry about it.” “Okay, let's go around town.” “Huh, well I actually still don't Ponyville well, can you two direct me?” “Sure we can!” Dinky yelled. We then began walking around town, going to get breakfast and then we went shopping. Derpy had to remind Dinky several times that we couldn't get anything to expensive. It was soon that it happened. We were walking down the street and then I started hearing snickering and laughing around me. I then looked at Derpy and I could tell something was wrong. I quietly asked, “What's wrong?” “They're laughing at us. I'm sorry.” “They are? Why?” “It's my eyes and because I'm not smart.” I then got a little aggravated, “That's not right, You're smart and why are your eyes a reason to laugh at you?” “Please don't do anything. I'm used it, though I will warn you though.” “Warn?” “They'll make fun of you too, because you're around me.” “What, but, that, um...” “They make fun of Dinky and Carrot Top as well. I'm so sorry.” I stood still and firm and then she looked at me with a completely sad face, “Don't apologize. You should never apologize for what other ponies do to you. If they make fun of you, you have to fight back.” “No, its not worth it. Don't worry about it.” At that moment Dinky saw the sad look on her mother and then looked angrily at me. She then said at me angrily, “What did you do to my mommy?!!” “Dinky, I...” “No excuses you big meanie!” “Uh...” Derpy then spoke up, “It's not his fault I'm sad Dinky.” “But-” “No buts, he was comforting me Dinky. C'mon Red, lets leave.” “Okay.” We then got a take home lunch and went back to my house. Dinky looked all over my house and then told me my house was boring, which then Derpy comically scolded her. I then told Derpy it was fine. We talked the rest of the day away and before we knew it was almost evening. I then said goodbye to both of them after me and Derpy agreed for a second date next week. I was sad to see them go but I was already wanting to see them again. I think Dinky likes me if anything. It was about a hour later that I realized I needed some groceries and then proceeded to leave to go to the grocery. As I got my few groceries I needed, I then started hearing all sorts of laughing and snickering. I looked around and there were a few stallions and mares looking at me and laughing. Then one of the mares spoke. “What are you looking at?” “Yeah!” said another mare, “What are you looking at, retard lover?!” “What did you just say?” I said angrily. “I said, you-are-a-retard-lover! DO-YOU-NOT-UNDERSTAND-ME?!!” she then said loudly. My hooves tensed up, I could feel my anger on my shoulders. “I heard you perfectly.” The stallions then walked in front of the mares and then glared down at me. “Don't yell at are mares, retard lover.” one of them said. I knew I couldn't beat them if they decide to fight me but I honestly didn't care. I felt angry, something I haven't felt in a long time. But then, somepony came to stop everything. “Don't Red. It's not worth it.” All our heads turned and there was Princess Twilight Sparkle. “Stay out of this you disgusting noble!” yelled one of the mares. “Yeah, get out of here ya nerd!” yelled the other mare. “Enough!” yelled Twilight, “Or else...” and then her horn glowed very brightly. “Why are you defending this retard lover? Aren't you some noble princess? Why defend this piece of trash?” “He's tens time higher than you could ever be!” she said, not flinching at all. “Heh heh, you need a mare to save you, huh, retard lover?” said one of the stallions. I looked at him sternly and then grabbed my groceries and slowly walked away. At that moment I realized that it just wasn't worth it. “Awwwww, the retard lover is a coward.” yelled the stallion. I looked back at him and quickly said, “No, I just realized you're not worth it.” I then turned to Twilight and said, “Thank you Twilight.” “No problem.” I bought my groceries and went home. I sat down in my bed in my house and suddenly began to cry. Why am I crying? Oh, I know, I just realized what she's had to live with for so long. Poor Derpy. I see it now, I really am in love with her and I haven't even done two dates with her yet. I guess, my next step is, all I got to do is see if she will love me back. I mean could I tell her this early on? Was it because I got angry or because they made fun of her? Or was I already in love the moment I first saw her? Was I that smitten? I stayed there, laying on my bed, thinking. I guess, I just have to keep going, for my sake and hers. Chapter 6 - The day an author went on his second dateThe next few days before the second date passed by with nothing but writing. Then I suddenly stopped, and I found myself at a complete halt. I couldn't write the final chapter of my book. Now I knew the book wasn't due for months from now but still, I always have an ending in mind. Every one of my books ends at the end of a year, that's how their written for my character's story. I knew I had an ending in mind when I started writing the book but I think I forgot about it. I never did that, I've wrote eight books in my series and this was the first time this ever happened. It was still a day before the second date with her. I looked at the clock and it was only noon. I wanted to see her again. I then decided to wrap up my newest book even though it didn't have its final chapter. I wrote a message to editor Ink Basher saying that I couldn't write the final chapter but to go ahead and edit what I already wrote. I had never done this before but I'm sure Ink won't mind. He's a pretty swell pony even though he is super serious about editing and just not serious about anything else. I then left the house and proceeded to the post office. I then entered the post office. “Hello?” I asked. “Hold on a second please....” said Derpy. Her head then popped up, “How can I – Red?! Aren't we going to meet tomorrow?” “Yes, but I got another package for you to Manehatten.” “Another one? Did you already finish your next book?! That was fast!” “Well no, but I'm going to let it get edited anyway, 25 bits right?” “That's right!” “Thank you Derpy.” “You don't have to thank me, its my job after all!” she said with a huge grin. Maybe that was all I needed to see, that beautiful smile. I put a smile on and said, “I'll see you tomorrow beautiful!” She then blushed a bright red on her face. “Why did you say that?” “You don't like it?” “No, its just embarrassing.” “Heehee, sorry, it just kinda blurted out.” “It's cool. See you later.” I left with a smile on my face and before I knew it, it was tomorrow. I then quickly went to get her for our date. We met and went to get another dinner together. After we began eating, Derpy spoke up and asked me a question. “Say Red, why did you come to post office yesterday?” “What do you mean? I needed my package delivered.” “But, when you came in, I don't know if you knew it but you looked really sad and confused.” “Oh.... let's just say I wasn't having a good day.” “Oh, what happened?” “Well, I'm almost finished my book and I couldn't write the final chapter.” “Why not, couldn't think of anything?” “I guess, its just, these past few days have been a daze. I've just wrote all day long and I can't remember any of now. That never happens to me.” She looked at me as directly as she could and then softly spoke, “Something happened to you, didn't it? What happened?” I could tell instantly she saw right thru me, I then spoke up and slowly said, “I, um, after I had that wonderful day with you and Dinky, I had to get some groceries. Then, well, a few ponies were making fun of me there about being with you and I got angry.” “Oh no, you didn't get into a fight did you?” “No, I almost did but thankfully a friend stopped us and made me realize it wasn't worth it.” She paused for a bit and then said, “Thank you for not fighting.” “Why?” “Because I don't want you to get hurt.... and I don't you to ever get into fight because of me!” “Why not? No pony should make fun of you.” “Didn't you just answer your own question? It's not worth it.” I paused and then realized what she really meant. She was saying she cared for me and that's what was really important. “You're right Derpy, I'm sorry.” I then started to tear up and began to cry, “I'm so sorry, I'm so so sorry.” She gave a shocked look and then comfortingly said, “Don't cry Red, Thank you for caring about me so much Red.” A big smile got one my face and both realized our appetites were gone. I got the check and we left the restaurant in tears of joy. I took her to her house and Dinky greeted us. “Hi Mommy! Hiya Red!” she yelled. “Welcome back,” said Carrot Top, “You're back early.” “Yeah and its awesome!” exclaimed Dinky. “Thank you so much for looking after her Carrot.” said Derpy. “No problem.” she said and then left the house. “Hooray! Hooray! Mommy's home! Mommy's home! Yay!” exclaimed Dinky even more. “Calm down muffin.” said Derpy. Then suddenly Derpy flopped on the floor and started snoring. “Whoa, that was quick, does she do that often?” “Yep, she runs out of energy quicker than she thinks.” We slowly put her to bed, making sure not to wake her up. We then sat on Derpy's couch in her living room. “.... What a day, sorry if you thought the date was horrible Derpy.” “No, it was great, I'm just glad we're together.” “Really?” “Yeah, when you came into the post office yesterday looking like that, I couldn't stop thinking something was wrong.” “I'm sorry I made you worry Derpy.” “No, I'm just glad you're okay.” “.... Thank you Derpy.” “You're welcome Red.” “Thank you for letting me be with you.” I said as we both looked at her fireplace. “Is it okay to call you my boyfriend, Red?” “...Sure, as long as I can call you my girlfriend, Derpy.” “Sure you can. Oh no...” “What's wrong?” “How rude of me. I never asked if you wanted a drink or anything when you came in.” “Don't worry about it.” “Well, I'm going to get myself something, want some tea?” “Sure.” I'm not sure what happened next, I just saw Derpy go into the kitchen and next thing I knew it was morning. Apparently, I fell asleep on her couch. I woke up completely embarrassed. I then apologized over and over while she keep that same magical smile on her face. She told me not to worry about and we agreed to try another date next week. I left Derpy's house feeling a little slow and sluggish but I knew one thing for sure. Today would be a brighter day and there were brighter times ahead of me. Chapter 7 - The day an author went to a ballA few days later Derpy came by house again with a package from my editor. We talked some but she had a busy day ahead of her and her route couldn't allow me to be her last customer. I didn't mind since I knew our next date was just a few days away. Derpy seemed happy and she knew I would understand. I opened the package and saw a letter with my now edited book. I opened the letter and read what my editor had wrote. In the letter he said that this latest book was my best yet, however, he didn't understand why I couldn't write the final chapter. He complimented me that he barely edited my book and said I better go ahead and finish the book despite being months ahead of schedule. I quickly put the now edited book on the desk and looked at what he had edited. After skimming thru the book I quickly noticed something of what I had wrote. I wrote my character meeting a fictional Derpy. I didn't understand why I hadn't noticed till now. Did I just not read what I wrote? I never do that, I always reread what I write. Not only that, I did that for almost the entire book... But, I wrote that my character became great friends with Derpy and was about to leave the town. He hadn't fallen in love and I didn't understand why. I realized instantly, my main character is not written or even supposed to me. I just created a character with a personality I liked... I've never wrote him to be me or even to be like me. At that moment, I knew how to end the book. I quickly wrote the final chapter. The final chapter had my main character having one last evening together as friends in front of the fireplace. It made me tear up writing it. Just a few hours later, I was done and quickly wrapped my book up and went off to the post office. “Hello?” I said as I entered the post office. “Hello! Welcome to the Ponyville Post Office!” exclaimed a filly's voice. “Dinky? What are you doing here?” I asked. “I'm here to help mommy today!” “Haha... Where is your mom, Dinky?” “I'm right here.” she said as she walked in from the back door. “Hey there, I have another package to send.” “Oh, did you figure out that final chapter?” “Yeah I did. Say, what is Dinky doing here?” “I'm here to help Mommy, I already told you!” “Heh heh, She's the reason why my route's a little different today. She's just here because she likes to see me work and there's not much mail today.” “So you're working at the post office for the rest of the day?” “Yes” “Hey hey hey! Is that a package? Want me to send it? Huh huh huh?” “Sure.” She tried to put on the serious face the little filly could and then said, “That will be 25 bits Mister Red.” “Hahaha...here ya go.” “Don't laugh at me! I'm super serious!” Me and Derpy shared a good laugh and then I left the post office. Before I knew it, it was the day of our third date. I then realized something, we had been dating for a month now. Realizing I had plenty of time on my hands I went to the flower shop and got a full bouquet. I didn't understand why I didn't do this earlier. Oh well... I then greeted her and we went to another dinner. We had a wonderful time. We talked for a few hours and before we knew it the day was almost done I then escorted her home. We agreed to another date and hugged each other and then I went back to my house. It was the next day when something unexpected happened. Derpy came by, delivering a letter from my publisher. I thanked her and saw a most unexpected surprise. Apparently without my consent, my editor showed my publisher my latest book and he loved it so much even though I haven't approved the final editing. Despite that, my editor will get the last edited version to me for approval and it will get here tomorrow. The interesting part was that in the letter was two tickets to a Manehatten Ball. Seeing these tickets confused me at first. He should know I'm not a party goer and definitely not a ball goer. Heck, I don't even have a tux. I was lost in thought for a second and then gave up. Guess I could rent one... I got some more money for the publisher last week and I still have plenty of groceries. I looked at the time, Derpy wouldn't be done with her shift just yet, and I don't know if she would want to even go to the ball. I thought about it some more... the ball was a week away.... I don't how to dance... it would be romantic....Darn... well since her shift is still happening right now... maybe I should go see if there is a place in Ponyville where I can rent a tux. I spent the next few hours trying to find a place and was surprised to find one in Ponyville. The owner allowed me to reserve one but I would only need to pay on the day I needed it. I thanked him and looked at the time. Her shift should be done... time to go ask her. I went and knocked at her door. She opened it, surprised and questioned why I was here since our date was tomorrow when she was off work. “Well Derpy I was wondering, well, if we could delay our date tomorrow.” “Oh my, did something happen?” “You could say that...” “Well, please come in at least.” We then both went the house and I sat down on her couch. She made some tea and then I spoke up after she was done. “Well, something very unexpected happened to me today.” “Oh really.” “Yeah, remember the letter you delivered to me earlier today? “Yeah, did something happen?” “It was from my publisher, he saw my latest book and so happy with it even though I haven't approved the final editing. He then sent me a gift in the letter.” “Oh really, what's the gift?” “It's.... two tickets to the Manehatten Ball.” “The what?! The ball......?” she said with a shocked face. “Yeah, and I was wondering if you could go to it with me. If you don't want to, its okay. I'm not a ball goer myself or even a party goer.” “I...I would love to. I've always wanted to go to a ball.” “Really?!” “Yeah, ever since I was a filly. I never imagined I would get a chance to.” “...Then's let's go.” “Really?! Are you sure?” “I can tell Derpy that you really want it, I would be a horrible boyfriend if I didn't let you go to the ball with me.” She began tearing up, “Thank you” she said softly. “Well, why don't tomorrow we go get you a dress?” “Really?!” “Yeah, I got some extra money recently, so we can definitely do it, I already went ahead and reserved myself a tux.” “You did?” “Yeah, just in case.” “Okay, we'll go by Rarity's Boutique tomorrow, alright?” “Um, well, where is that?” “Oh right, stallions usually don't go there, just come to my house tomorrow alright?” “Okay.” The next day... I walked to Derpy's house and then we went to the Boutique. There I met a white and very shiny, dressed-up unicorn. She must be Rarity. “Oh my, how unexpected, what are doing here Derpy?” “I need a dress for a ball in Manehatten, Miss Rarity.” “Oh my, a ball darling? Well I'm glad you came to me, I will get you the perfect dress.” “Thank you so much!” “And who might you be?” “Oh sorry, I'm um, Red Feather.” “Red Feather.... You mean the Red Feather, author of 'Days among the Pony World' series?” “Um yes, are you fan?” “Oh yes, Twilight introduced me to your series and I love it dear. She told me you now live here in Ponyville but I never met you till now.” “I've only been here for about two months. Anyways, we are here for a dress Miss Rarity.” I could tell Derpy was about to get a little jealous. “Oh right, I'm so sorry Derpy darling.” she said and quickly rushed into her parlor and came back with all sorts of sewing equipment. “Let's take your sizes dear.” “Okay” The next few hours were her going over and over Derpy, figuring out the dress. Her prices were pretty reasonable. We thanked her and she assured us it would be ready by next week. “Miss Rarity sure is generous, huh?” “Yes, though she's a bit, how do I say, too demanding for my taste.” “You do realize that the ponies at the ball are going to act like her, right.” “Yeah, I know, but I'll be with you and that's more than enough.” She blushed and said, “Thanks Red.” Before I knew it the week had passed and it was time for the ball. My editor sent me the final edit and I accepted it earlier in the week. I then went to Derpy's house. We went to the boutique in the morning and then it happened, Derpy came out in that dress. She looked incredible.... I felt like I was about to faint from seeing her. “You're.....you're beautiful Derpy.” She blushed yet again, “Thanks Red.” “He's absolutely right darling, you look marvelous.” “Thanks Miss Rairty.” We then proceeded to Manehatten for the ball. And man, the place was packed. The ballroom was filled with ponies. Very soon, the dancing began and we got on the dance floor. We both admitted we didn't know how to dance but we didn't care. We did a slow dance in front of everyone. She was so beautiful, I couldn't keep my eyes off her. Before I knew it, I kissed her, I kissed her for a long time. We both were fully red as out mouths went away from each other only to then realize everyone was looking at us. Then, they started clapping. We both looked at each other and then the host immediately started to yell, “Let's give up for that lovely couple, showing true love here!” We both blushed almost to death for a good hour and then the ball was over. We left admitting we had a wonderful time. We went home to Ponyville and Derpy thanked me over and over for letting her go to the ball. I kissed her again and then escorted her home. Then, I went home, man what a night!!! Chapter 8 - The day an author had too many visitorsA few days after the ball I realized that me and Derpy had been dating for two months now. It was then I had the most strangest day. It started really early, almost unreasonably early. I had just finished my breakfast when a knock came to my door. Now who could that be? I'm not expecting a package and me and Derpy are gonna meet up two days from now. I went to the door and then I saw the most unexpected person. “Ink Basher?! What are you doing here?” “I'm here for multiple reasons.” he said with a smirk, “Can I come in, I am your editor and friend aren't I?” “Um, sure, come on in.” He walked in and scanned my house, he must judging my house. “Nice place you have here, very small and cozy.” “Why are you here, Ink? If this is about my book, you could have just sent me a letter.” “Don't worry, your next book isn't due for like another year though that is half of why I'm here.” “Really?” “Yeah, you're latest book you sent recently has sold really well. It's sold more than any of your previous books.” “You're kidding, there's no way it was that good Ink.” “I'm not kidding, your publisher would like to put it up for an award even.” “Ugh, you know what I think about things like that Ink. I never really want to be super popular, I just want to write books.” “So you don't want it put up for an award?” “Yes.” “Okay.” “Wait, what? Why aren't you arguing Ink? Who are you and what have you done to my friend Ink Basher?” “I'm not kidding, the publisher asked me to ask that and I'll give him that answer. I don't have a choice, the publisher likes you more than me.” “....Okay, you could have settled that in a letter, why are you really here?” “Well Red, why didn't you tell me you a marefriend?!” he yelled. “Huh?” “Don't play dumb, we've been friends for over eight years Red! Why didn't you tell me?!” “I, uh, I...” “The publisher was at the ball and he told me what happened.” “Well, it just, sort of, well...” “When did this happen? Of all the years I've known you, you've never gone after mares even once. How did this happen?” “It... just sort of happened Ink... I didn't mean to hide it, it just, well...” “It just happened, huh?” “Yeah.” “So, who is she?” he said with a sly smile. “Give me a reason to tell you that.” “Aw c'mon man, its cool, I'm just still surprised this happened. No wonder you're latest book was so good.” “What?!” “It's obvious she's an influence, isn't she?” “.....” “C'mon I'm kidding, though to be honest, I'm jealous of you.” “Cuz I have a mare and a playboy like you can't keep one?” “....Yes.” “Well sorry Ink, I don't have another mare for you meet here, you'll have to find one yourself.” “I know, I just... wanted to congratulate you. I just wanted to come and say that one of my best friends is moving on. It's just strange seeing how much you've changed.” “....Thanks Ink.” “Well, I'll leave ya alone Red, I had other business in Ponyville anyways. Good look on the courting.” “Thanks Ink.” He then left and I just sort of sat there. Have I changed that much? Huh.... I had no idea. Then about a hour later another knock came to my door. Okay, I wasn't supposed to have visitors today, what's going on? I opened then door only to be immediately hugged by the pony at the door. “Oh my little Red!” she said as she hugged me. “Mom? What are you doing here?!” “Oh, can't a pair of parents meet their only son unannounced?” At that moment I saw my dad, Crimson Shine was there too. My mom, Passion Breeze then let me go. “All right, all right, come on in you two.” We all walked in and sat down on my chair and couch. “So why are you two in Ponyville?” “Were you always this serious son?” “No, sorry. I just know that it's unusual for both of you to leave your shop. Especially you, Dad being a candle maker and you mom are a florist.” “We closed the shop for the day and decided to see are only son.” “And you didn't tell me?” “Weren't not allowed to surprise you?” “Well it's just, usually you come to me if the matter is really important or a holiday.” “Oh its very important today.” “Really? My birthday isn't for months and its between summer and fall. What could possibly be happening?” “Why your publisher told us you were dating somepony!” “Oh no.” “Oh my little boy has finally grown up into a stallion! Oh I'm so proud, you used to be so shy as a little filly.” “Look mom..” “Well, what's her name? What's she like? Is she really nice? Does she have a good job? “ “MOM! Calm down.” “Sorry.” “Look, um, her name is Derpy Hooves and she works as a mail mare.” “Oh, she delivers letters?” “Yes, and we won't be able to meet her today, thankfully, she's out of town for her job till two days from now.” “Aw, that's not fair.” my mom said with a pouty face. “It can't be helped, though when she comes back we are going on a date after that.” “Oh, planning ahead are we.” said my dad with a sly smile. “It's called time management dad.” “I'm just kidding, don't get so defensive son.” “Ugh...” After that, we continued to talk thru the rest of the day and eventually they finally left. Thank goodness they left, though it made realize something. I never asked who Derpy's parents were or if I should meet them. I went to bed with a scary thought, what if that ends in disaster? Chapter 9 - The day an author had yet another date.Okay, it was two days later after my parents came to my door and it was happening again. Another date with Derpy. My heart was all a flutter with joy. I could not wait to see her again after a long time of her delivering a ton of mail. I got cleaned up, got some flowers and went to her house. I knocked on the door and when the door opened there was Dinky sitting there. “Mommy! He's here!!!” yelled Dinky. “Dinky! Don't yell. Its very rude.” said Carrot Top. “Sorry Mister Red Feather.” “Its fine Dinky, oh and just call me Red alright?” I said. “Okay!” “Thank you for foalsitting when we do this Carrot Top.” “Its fine Red, don't worry about it.” “He is right Carrot, thank you so much for doing this.” said Derpy as she walked to the door. “Hey Derpy, glad to see you from you week of mail problems.” “Ugh, tell me about it, thank you for the flowers.” She took the flowers and then we soon left. We went to a diner again for a nice dinner. It was then we started talking. “So, quite a different change of pace compared to last time, huh?” I said. “No kidding, the ball was a bit fancier than this, huh?” “Yeah, but I'm glad personally. I think you should only get fancy every now and then.” “I agree and once again, thank you Red.” “You don't need to thank me Derpy, I'm glad I could help you achieve one of your dreams.” “Well, just thank you Red, you have no idea how much that made me happy.” she said as she began tearing up. “Hey hey, don't cry Derpy. I didn't bring you here so you would start crying. Wait, I may have said that wrong..” “Hee hee, its fine, its tears of joy.” “So, uh, I have something to tell you.” “What is it? What's wrong Red?” “Well two days ago my parents visited me.” “Oh really?” “Yeah, and because of what we did at the ball, well my publisher was there and saw it and told my parents.” “Oh really? How did they react to it?” “Well, they um, were really glad I'm dating somepony.” “Let me guess, your mom is glad you became a stallion?” “Hey! How did you know?” “I'm a mom remember?” “Dinky's adopted.” “Still a mom.” “Okay you proved your point, anyways, they, um, would like to meet you Derpy.” “Oh....” “Don't worry, they're really nice, my mom is little be of a drama queen but my dad is a straight shooter. He can accept anypony.” “Its just that, um, my eyes. Do you think they would accept me? I've only met maybe five ponies in my life that have accepted me in my life.” “....My parents would accept you. I know they will. Say, what about your parents Derpy?” “Oh, um, you don't have to worry about them.” “What do you mean?” “Um, I don't know who my parents are, I'm, uh an orphan. They died when I was just a baby.” “Oh, sorry, I didn't know.” “It's fine. So when do you think I should meet them?” “Well, my parents run two different shops. My dad makes candles and my mom is a florist.” “How did they get an author out of that?” “I know right? Anyways, there's a good chance I would have to bring you to them. They live in Manehattan.” “Huh, is it hard to set up a date with them?” “No, just putting both your schedule and theirs is the problem, I also forgot to tell them about Dinky.” “Oh.... that would be um, complicated to explain with out a misunderstanding.” “Well, I uh, will tell them in advance, don't worry.” “Thanks. Do you think they should meet Dinky as well?” “....hmmm... I'm not sure, I guess, I just have to ask them if they want to meet her.” “Are you sure, that can't leave a good first impression, heck, I wouldn't know where to start when talking to your parents.” “Don't worry, I'll help you. Just don't dread it, alright?” “Okay.” We finished our dinner and then we went back to her house. Dinky had already gone to bed and we thanked Carrot Top as she left. We then sat down on her couch together. We just couldn't figure out what to talk about, we just looked at each other. Smiling, just smiling, her beautiful smile just looking at me. At that moment, I must have hypnotized by her, because before I knew it, I kissed her. I kissed her for a long time. Than we stopped and she just looked at me, blushing bright red. “Uh, sorry, I just couldn't control myself Derpy.” She just kept looking at me and then, she kissed me. I was so surprised, this was the first time she had ever initiated it. I always kissed her. She then giggled as she looked at me after the kiss. “Now looks who blushing.” “Heh heh heh.” “Oh, you don't have to apologize for kissing me Red, I enjoy it.” “Oh, well, its just...um, Derpy?” “Yes?” “Do you, uh, wanna make out?” She looked at me for a second, blushing, and then said, “Sure.” Then we, well, made out. It was magical evening of love. I can't remember much of what happened after we made out. We both must have fallen asleep on the couch immediately after that. We both woke up confused the next morning, not understanding what happened. But it didn't matter to me, I left to go home with a skip in my step and fire in my heart. I felt like I was on top of the world. Man, what a mare! Chapter 10 - The day an author had a get-together.Ugh, the day is finally here, I thought to myself as began my slow walk out of my house. I knew it would come eventually, the day Derpy meets my parents. This will not go well, I just know it. I stumbled out of my house in a slow and slouching pace. Now, what was I dreading the most? Probably my mom overreacting, thinking I need to go full throttle with my relationship or something like that. Or maybe her not accepting Derpy which probably won't happen. Hopefully. I then finally got to Derpy's house. I knocked on the door, expecting Dinky to fly out of the door as soon as she could. Instead, Derpy came to the front door. “Hey Derpy,” I said, “Are you and Dinky ready.” “Dinky is brushing her teeth now, as for me, well, I guess I'll be as ready as I ever could be.” “Don't worry, we've spent half a month trying to get this get-together to work and I know they will accept you. I will warn you, my mom is a bit hyperactive though.” “Do you think that means she'll like my hyperactive daughter?” I paused for a second and then calmly said, “Oh yeah, definitely.” Dinky soon joined us and we shoved off to Manehattan. We took the train as it slowly got there. I personally thought than being the pegasuses that we are, we could get there easily by flying but Dinky's a unicorn so the train was the way to go. I'm just not the best with moving vehicles. I quickly thought over and over again, making sure I had thought of everything, I told my parents about Dinky and Derpy's eyes. They said they would understand. Let's see how this works out. We got to Manehattan with about little over half the day left. We were going to meet them at a restaurant in the city and I quickly directed Derpy and Dinky there. Then I saw them, my parents already waiting at a table. “I hope we're not too late mom and dad,” I said in a calm tone. “No, we just got here.” said my dad politely. “Um, Hello.” said Derpy slowly. “Oh, you must be Derpy! It's so good to finally meet you!” exclaimed my mother. She then got up and then began looking at Derpy up close. “Mom! Stop that! Its rude!” I quickly said. My mom looked at her for a few more seconds and then immediately hugged Derpy. I flinched in shock. “Oh look at you! You are so cute!” my mom said suddenly. “Um, thank you?” asked Derpy, confused. “That's enough dear.” said my dad with a straight face. “Sorry dear, oh and you must be Dinky! You're so cute too!” she said as she then hugged Dinky. “Whoa!” said Dinky. “Uh, dad, did something happen to mom?” I asked. “No, I don't think so. Anyways let's all sit down, okay?” We then all sat down and ordered our food. My dad then spake up, “Um, right, we still haven't properly introduced ourselves. I'm Crimson Shine and my lovely wife is Passion Breeze.” “I'm Derpy Hooves and this is my daughter, Dinky Doo.” “Why are we introducing ourselves again? Didn't they already know our names?” asked Dinky. “Oh well, its just, well, tradition muffin.” said Derpy. Our food was soon delivered and we began eating and then my mom spoke up, “Well Miss Hooves...” “Please, just call me Derpy.” “Um, I know our son is just waiting for us to tell you embarrassing stories about him and his days as a filly.” “Hahaha.” laughed Derpy. “Don't even think about it mom.” “Don't worry son, I won't. It's just, we would like to get to know you better.” “Um, well, can I say something to you both first?” asked Derpy. I could tell what she was about to say, she tensed up tightly. “You don't have too, if you don't want to.” I told her before she could say anything else. “Come now son, let her talk.” said my dad. Derpy looked at me and well, I just couldn't say anything to that face of hers. She knew it as well, or I think she did. “Go ahead dear, what would you like to tell us?” said my mom in her sweet voice. “Thank you.” Both of my parents looked completely confused. Then my dad spoke up, “What do you mean?” “Thank you for meeting me and accepting me.” she said. “Wait, why are you saying that?” my mom asked confused. “Did you do something to her son?” my dad demanded. “No! I haven't done anything!” I said, panicking. “It's okay you two.” Derpy said calmly, “Red is one of the few ponies I know in my life that has accepted me for who I am. I'm just grateful I could meet more ponies that accept me as well.” “Well, why wouldn't we?” asked my mom, still confused. My dad on the other hand, had already caught on to what she meant. He then said, “Its fine Derpy, all we wanted to see was if you were a kind pony or not.” “Really?” asked Derpy. At that point, I think my mom had caught on as well, as she then said, “Of course dear, and we could tell instantly.” “How?” “We know our son well, he is a person who does not get along with many ponies. It's takes a special one to get along with him.” “Gee, thanks for the vote of confidence dad.” “You know its true son.” I knew it was true, that doesn't mean I want to admit it. Then Dinky spoke up. “I don't get it. Are you saying you know how my mommy is just by looking at her?” “No Dinky, they mean that they were hoping for a kind, trusting pony and they found one.” “Well, of course my mommy's trusting and nice! She makes me muffins and loves me!” We all then giggled at Dinky, knowing she was right. We then finished our lunch and then I told my parents it was best we leave for Ponyville and that we would see their shop later. “Well, it was so nice to meet you Derpy, we must meet up and have lunch again sometime.” “Sure thing Miss Breeze!” said Derpy with a huge smile on her face. While they both talked my dad pulled me away. He then spoke quietly to me, “Son I need to tell you something.” “What?” “You fallen for her completely haven't you?” “Wh-What?!” “That reaction proves it, well I have a suggestion for you.” “A suggestion?” “Yeah, me and your mother were talking while you went to handle your part of the check. She's fallen for you as well, we can tell.” “That, I, uh, well, um...” “Look, at this stage, ask her how fast you want to go. You both love each other, its just that both you don't know if the other loves you back.” “I, uh, I...” I said, I couldn't find the right words. “Don't hesitate. Go all out if you have too. Don't worry, things will work out. It'll only go wrong if you wait to long.” “....Okay, thanks dad.” We then said our goodbyes and then we went back to Ponyville. We went back to Derpy's house and then I left to my house soon after. It was then at my house, that my dad's words began to really sink in. What do I do now? I then left my house for a second, it was late but I quickly looked around and saw the store I was looking for. They were still open and I went inside. I looked around and soon saw what I was looking for but then, well, I hesitated. I ran back to my house in a hurry. I just, well, wasn't sure if that was the right choice. Wait too long, huh? Alright, one more date with Derpy. I need to confirm what dad said was true. Does she really love me or have I not got to that point yet? Chapter 11 - The day an author had, once again, another date. The day finally came. It was another date with Derpy but I knew what I was going to do. I have to tell her today. I just know it. I couldn't write, not that I had months ahead of me for my next book. That and I got more money due to my latest book selling out at certain places. Money doesn't interest me, I just need it for food and to keep my house. I then decided to take a nap because I was meeting her in the afternoon. Soon after I awoke, I cleaned myself up and began my walk to her house. There we met up, said bye to Dinky and were off. We then sat there at our dinner and right when I was about to speak up, she did instead. “Um, Red, there's something I need to tell you.” “Hmm? What is it?” “I, two days ago, had a visit from your mother.” I was surprised to say the least, “Mom came to you?” “Yes, she said it was my choice whether or not to tell you that she came.” “Well, since you decided to tell me, could I ask what she talked about?” “Yeah, I was going to tell you anyways.” She then began explaining how it went. Apparently, while me and dad were talking after our get-together the other day, my mom planned a meeting with a Derpy. My mom came over to her house and stayed for a few hours. Apparently their conversation went something like this: “Let me start off by saying something to you Derpy dear.” “Yes?” “Thank you.” “Huh?” “Thank you for being there and being kind to our son.” “Oh no no no, he's the one who is always kind to me. He's been kind to me ever since we first met.” “You misunderstand what I'm saying.” “I am?” “Yes, my son Red has always been, well, a pony that doesn't relate to others. At all. He would rather stay away from the world.” “Well, I kinda guessed that. All he talks about our books or he asks me about myself.” “I thought so. He's always been like that. We tried to change him so many times. We eventually realized that he would be different from his outgoing parents.” “Yes. He told me that you are especially outgoing.” “Oh I am, despite being a florist, I go out and talk to my friends all the time. My husband who is a clock maker is a bit more reserved but he will admit he likes to party as well.” “Hee hee, I still can't believe you two are his parents. You should have seen him at the ball.” “Oh really, what was that like?” “Oh, he was so embarrassed unless he was looking at me. While myself, I was just happy actually going to a ball for the first time in my life.” “Oh really? You love balls that much?” “It was a wonderful time.” “I could hook you up with another. I have quite a bunch of friends in Manehattan.” “Really? Well, only if Red's okay with it.” “Oh he will be, he'll do anything for you.” “Really, what make s you say that?” “That's why I'm here dear.” “Huh?” “Red, he will probably go through the rest of his life with maybe a handful of friends. Its just how he is. That's why I'm here, to help both you and him along.” “Help us how?” “First, I'm going to tell you something really important.” “What?” “Red is late bloomer. He will always take things slowly. He's not dumb, its just that he does everything in his life at his own pace.” “Oh I know that, he was slow when we took a day to walk around Ponyville.” “That's not what I meant Derpy.” “Really?” “Yes, what I meant was that he will also be slow in relationships.” Derpy then paused on the story, though she had not quoted all that was said above, I knew that was the gist of what they talked about. I then spoke up, “It's okay Derpy, you don't have to go any further.” “Huh? Why?” “Well, why you two were arranging your meeting the other day when we had our get-together, me and my dear old dad had a talk as well.” “Really, what about?” “Well....” I then paused. How do I say this? Do I just tell her straight out? What do I do? “Well Derpy, he talked to me about what he observed about our relationship.” “Same as your mother then?” “Yeah, pretty much.” “Wow, they sure are smart.” “Yeah, but I think its experience more than anything.” “True....” “Also Derpy...” “Yes?” “These past few days, I've been conflicted. I've been going over and over this in my head and well, I just don't know.” “Don't know what?” “.....It's just, well, I've racking my brain just what to do and well, I'm going to do it right now.” “What are you going to do?” “I.....” I paused for just a second, I felt a slight lump in my throat but then I ate the lump as fast as I could. “I....I love you Derpy. Truth be told, I think I fell in love with you the first time I saw you.” I looked at her and she just began crying. Tears just flowed from her eyes. “Derpy, I..” before I could say I was sorry she spoke. “I love you too Red.” I couldn't think. I couldn't move. I started crying as well. We just both sat there crying. I couldn't believe it. I don't think she could either. I don't know how long we just sat there. Then, I just got up and kissed her. I kissed her for what seemed forever. As if perfection itself had came blessed our kiss. I just couldn't stop. Our mouths finally released and we separated. Man, we both were blushing like no tomorrow. We then got the check and went to her house. Dinky had fell asleep and Carrot Top left soon after. Then we just sat there together. “Red?” “Yes?” “What do we do now?” “.....Part of me knows, but I'm not sure I want to go there right now.” “Why?” “Because I want this night to last forever. Just me and you sitting here, knowing we love each other.” “.....I couldn't agree more.” “Thank you Derpy.” “For what?” “For loving a stupid stallion like me.” “No, thank you for loving a cute mare like me.” “Heh heh...Yeah.” We then made out and soon went to bed. Ironically, we both immediately fell asleep as soon as our heads fell on the bed. It didn't matter, all I knew was that we were happy and that was more than enough. Chapter 12 - The day an author got some advice.I woke up and saw her. I suspect at that moment I was probably blushing to death. I just kept looking at her. I couldn't think of anything or do anything. Just sit there and look at her. She then started to open her eyes. She yawned slowly as her eyes slowly opened. “....Hello Red...” said Derpy and then, “Red?!” “Morning Beautiful.” I said and then kissed her. She kissed me back and then went back a little and asked, “Um, why are we in my bed, how did we get here?” “Um, we uh, fell asleep as soon as we got here, I think. I can barely remember anything.” “Same here, I remember that too.” “Well, um, I guess, um, would you like to stay here a little longer?” She paused and then she said, “I would love that but, um..” “You have to go to work soon, don't you?” “Yeah...” “We've been dating for about half a year now. I know you pretty well now.” “Oh stop it.” she said as she hit me casually. “Heh, heh, heh..” We both got up and then she got her uniform on quickly and ate a muffin quickly. I soon said goodbye to her and Dinky. I left and went back to my house. I yawned as I was still a little tired. Then I just sat there for a little while. I didn't feel like writing. I felt almost too happy to do anything. Its weird. I just don't know what to do. Then I realized, if you don't know what to do just go ask someone else what you should do. I got up and spread my wings. They're stiff, I don't fly very often. I then left my house and took off into the sky. I flew to Manehattan and went to my dad's candle shop. I then walked in and saw my dad behind the register. “Red?” “Hi dad. Um, do you have a second?” He looked at for a second and then smiled, “Of course, I always have time for my son.” “Thanks.” He then signals one of his employees to take the register and takes me to the back of the store. After we got back there, he put a huge smile on his face. “You confessed didn't you?” “Wh-what?!” “I know that face. You were really happy coming in here, though you looked slightly confused at the same time.” “I, uh, I, um...” “Don't be embarrassed, you're talking to your father. Look sharp.” “Sorry. Yeah, I confessed.” “And she loves you back doesn't she.” “I, uh, yeah, wait, how did you know?” “One, you're happy and two, your mother visited her a few days ago.” “Oh yeah, she told me about that.” “So, why are you here?” “I need some advice.” “You want to go all in.” “.....Yeah, I think I do.” “Well, than just do it.” “But dad, I don't know if I'm ready!” “You're ready.” “How do you know?!” “Because, you're never ready for what you're trying to do.” “....Really?” “Oh yeah, I wasn't ready either when I did it.” “....Thanks dad.” “No problem, now get out of here.” “Yeah.” “Don't hesitate.” he said as I left. “I'm going to try to make sure I don't. Hopefully.” My dad laughed at me as I left. “Ugh, I hope I don't mess this up.” “Don't worry, you won't.” he yelled back. I flew back to Ponyville as hours passed by. He got to Ponyville a little after sunset and immediately went to a shop. I quickly went and got exactly what I wanted. I then went to Derpy's house. She should be done with her job by now. I knocked on the door only for Carrot Top to answer. She was fillysitting Dinky again. I asked her about Derpy and she told me was just running a little late. I went inside and I could tell Carrot Top knew why I was here. “My, my, this is quite bold of you Red.” “This is just how it works out. Nothing more than that.” “Hmmmm....” She kept sitting there, looking at me and then there was a knock at the door. Derpy then walked in, taking her hat off onto the hat rack by the door. She then saw me. “Red? What are you doing here?” “Well, ah, its not worth explaining.” “Oh okay.” she said and then hugged Dinky. Derpy went to her room and took her uniform off. Carrot Top kept looking at me and asked if she should leave. I told her she didn't have to. Derpy then walked in. I then walked over to her and bended over. “Red?” “Derpy, I um, did a lot of thinking and, um, I had to do a lot of thinking to get here and it's not easy to say this.” “Say what?” I pulled the ring out I bought earlier today. “Derpy, you beautiful beautiful mare, will you marry me?” Then she just stood there, with a blank face and then tears ran down her eyes. She then gave me that great goofy grin of hers and then spoke up. “YES!! YES, I WILL!!! I LOVE YOU RED FEATHER!!” she yelled with all her might. At that moment, I kissed her long and hard. “I love you too Derpy.” I said. Dinky began celebrating, saying she knew this would happen while Carrot Top just kept giggling. We hugged and kissed for what seemed to be a lifetime. Later, we talked about what to do next, I would need to rent a tux and she would need to go to Rarity for a wedding dress. Then there would be invites, planning the date of the wedding, the cake, all that stuff. Ugh, this will probably be really really annoying. It didn't matter to me. I was just happy either way. Chapter 13 - The day an author got married.Wedding preparations. Those two words put shivers down my spine. It feels as those together become the most annoying thing that has ever happened in my life. I knew from the start, I want the wedding to happen. Getting there, well, I would love it if I could just skip that step. Go to the wedding immediately, that would be amazing. Reality, on the other hand, has different plans. All the time. How annoying. I then sighed as I kept writing the letters to everyone we were going to invite. My parents, editor, publisher, etc. Not worth it. I already got my tux prepared quickly like the ball. Derpy, on the other hand, had a longer wait as the pony know as Rarity just could not believe she was making a wedding dress. I've never seen someone panic over getting a dress done. As I finished the letters, I let out a huge sigh. I then took the letters and went to the post office. “Hey beautiful. Got some letters to be sent.” “Hiya Red! Are those some of the invites?” “Yep. I can't wait till this is all done.” “Want to get married right now?” “If I could, I would, but my parents want all the fluff though.” “It'll be fine Red.” “Thanks.” I then left the post office and scratched my head. One more stop for today. I then went to the library. I knocked on the door and heard a pony saying to come in. I walked in slowly. “Hey Twilight.” “Oh, mister Red Feather, how its going?” “Yes its fine, I need to ask you a favor.” “Oh, what is it?” “I'm getting married, though you probably already knew that.” “Oh yes, I know, Rarity is especially happy to make the wedding dress.” “Yeah, no kidding. Anyways, I would like you to be our officiant.” “You would like me to marry you two? I would love too!” “Thanks Twilight.” “Of course.” “Um, we'll tell you when it is later.” “No problem.” I left and my checklist of the many things to prepare had one more thing checked. I then felt like I was shrinking in to more and more annoyances. Before I knew it, days passed as we prepared the wedding more and more. Then, it finally happened. The day finally happened, the wedding. I went to the town hall where we were going to hold the wedding. As soon as I got there, my dad dragged me to a dressing room, and put my tux on me. “How you feeling son?” “Tired, wanting this to be over with and just be with my wife.” “That's a bit negative son, cheer up, this a huge day in your life.” “I know it is dad.” “Look sharp, this is your big day. Don't ruin it for yourself.” “....” I looked at myself in the mirror. When did I get like this? I felt so tired yet I didn't want the day to end. It happens today. Wow. Before I knew it, the ceremony began. I looked and not many ponies were at the wedding. Just shows how popular we are as in we aren't popular, at all. Ink Basher was my best man and Carrot Top was the maid of honor. I soon went down the isle and was there, waiting. Then she came down the aisle. She was beautiful. Indescribable, just amazing. Before I knew it, she was right in front of me. I froze. I didn't hear what Twilight was saying. I just kept looking at her. Then she gave an expecting look. “Um, Red?” asked Twilight. “Oh, uh, I do.” I said, panicking. “And do you take this stallion as your husband Derpy?” “I do.” Then we kissed. It was the best moment of my life. Why was I worried about all this? Why was I dreading this? I can't remember for the life of me. Before I knew it the ceremony was done. Twilight had someone named Pinkie Pie had done the party arrangements and ordered the cake. Her and a pony named Vinyl Scratch began entertaining everypony else. I then went to Derpy and asked her one thing. “Wanna dance again, just like the ball?” “....Yes.” We then slow danced. We danced in circles. It felt as if the lights of room swirled around us. Pure beauty was dancing with me. I couldn't have been happier. I felt on top of the world as we kept dancing together. I just kept looking into her eyes as she kept looking at me. I couldn't stop. I kissed her without thinking. Did I need to think? No, probably not. “I love you Derpy.” I said. “I know.” she said back to me. We finally stopped dancing, mainly because we realized we were really tired, dancing in this tux and her in her dress. I then got us both some cake and punch. Then my mom came over to me. “Oh, I'm so proud of you son!” “Thanks mom.” “I'm so proud of you too Derpy.” “Thanks.” she said. “I can't believe it, I have a daughter-in-law and Dinky as my grand daughter-in-law as well. I'm so happy.” “Well done son.” my dad said as he joined us. “Welcome to the family Derpy.” “I'm glad to be part of it.” “That's great.” I then relaxed myself. I felt relieved. Then, I realized something, we never planned a honeymoon. Hope my mom doesn't find out. “So when's the honeymoon?” she asked. Great, I knew this was going to happen, “Um, mom, we didn't plan one.” “What?!” “Don't yell.” “What kind of stallion are you?!” “Honey, calm down.” my dad said. “It's fine.” said Derpy. “We don't have the money anyways, we spent it all for this wedding.” “Yeah, it will all work out mom, don't worry about it.” “.....” my mom had her pouty face on and then said, “Fine.” The wedding was over, everything was done. I was happy again. Maybe that's why ponies have weddings, to feel dread and then find happiness again. I guess.... Final Chapter - The day an author lived his life.We then began the big move. My house was much smaller than Derpy's being made for only one pony. So I moved into her house, thankfully I'm a minimalist. All I really brought with me was my desk, clothes, and some minor other things. I then took my stuff and quickly moved in. Our routine changed around very easily. Since I stay at home to write books, I now took care of Dinky a lot. Days passed, I was finally able to start my next book. Dinky then approached me one day. “Hey dad, what are you writing?” “My current novel Dinky.” “Why?” “Well, making books is my job.” “So what do you write about?” “Well, a write a character who travels place to place and staying there for a year.” “Sounds boring.” “Well, its all about meeting different ponies and interacting with different ponies.” “Huh, so who is your character meeting this time? Is it mom?” “No, that was my previous book.” “Really?” “Yeah, I was thinking about my character meeting a character like you Dinky.” “Really?!” “Yeah, you're my daughter-in-law. Why wouldn't make a character like you?” “Well, what about you?” “Hmm?” “Is your main character based on you?” “Well, that's a good question...” “Huh?” “Well, the main character isn't really based on me. It's more, well Dinky, the character is more of what I want to be but I can't be.” “I don't get it.” “I just mean that I want to be like my main character because he's better than me.” “That's dumb.” “What?” “Why are to trying to be someone you made up?” “Well, because I want to be better but I can't.” “Like I said dad, that's dumb. Aren't you someone else than that character?” “....” I paused. “Well?” “I guess you're right Dinky, I'm sorry. I never realized it, I just kept writing.” “See? Its all okay, right?” “Thanks Dinky.” Derpy soon came home and I kissed her on the cheek. “Long day?” “Yeah, no kidding.” “You feeling okay, hon?” “No, I've been in and out of it all day.” “Well, I'll get some supper started.” “Thanks.” Derpy loved on Dinky and then went to the bathroom, at the time, I didn't think about it at all. I started to make the best food I could. I'm no chef but I cook decent meals. I then put the food on the table and Derpy slowly walked out of the bathroom with an absolute scared look on her face. “Something wrong honey? You look pale as a sheet.” “....Red, I....” “What's wrong?” “I'm pregnant.” I froze. I couldn't move. Before I knew it I was crying. There were so many tears. They just wouldn't stop. “Are you sure honey?” “...Yes.” She just looked at me, crying a waterfall of tears. I then went up to her and kissed her long and hard. “Are you scared Derpy?” “....I don't know.” “I'm here.” “Yes, I know.” She then hugged me. Dinky then asked what we meant and we told her she was about to have a sibling. I think she was still a bit confused. We ate our supper and then went to bed. “Do you think we will be able to handle this?” my wife asked me. “I don't know, I guess we just have to wait and find out.” “Yeah...” “Don't worry, whatever happens, we'll face it together.” “Thank you Red.” The months passed quickly and before we knew it, she had the child. It was a colt. We named him Flying Feather. He was an adorable little pegasus. Before we knew it, he was growing up into a stallion. Years passed by, I wrote book after book, getting us the revenue we needed. After having Flying Feather, Derpy quit her mail mare job. She helped Carrot Top on the side sometimes but we made sure to save plenty of bits. Dinky grew up and became quite the unicorn. She began more into magic and became a magic teacher. As for my son Flying Feather, he became a WonderBolt. I was so proud of him, being able to much more athletic than I ever was. He's trying to be a captain in the WonderBolts now. Eventually, the years passed and passed till me and Derpy were old elder ponies. Then one day, we sat down on that old couch of ours. “Man, I can't believe all this happened to us huh?” “No kidding Red, even now it feels like a dream come true.” “You know something honey?” “What Red?” “Do you regret anything?” “No.” “Same here, well maybe one.” “Oh really.” “I wish I could have met you earlier.” “Why, do you say that?” “Because I would have had more time with you.” “....Hmm..guess that's not a bad regret.” “Thanks.” “Can I tell you something though?” “Sure.” “You're not the best romantic.” “Oh I know.” “So, I have a question for you now.” “What is it?” “If you could do it all over again, would you?” “No, unless you were there with me.” “....I had a feeling you would say that.” “I'm that predictable?” “Oh yes.” We then kissed again. We just sat there in front of the fireplace. I knew that there were still a few years left in my old engine. Derpy was the same but it didn't matter for us. “You know Red, I wish this moment could last forever.” “We've said that a lot in our life.” “I know. Crazy isn't it?” “Yeah, no kidding.” We just kept sitting there in front of the fireplace. We kissed one more time and both of us had huge smiles on our faces. That was my story. I found love and had a good life. What a life it was. THE END Chapter 1 - The day an author came to town.Greetings, my name is Red Feather. I am a pegasus pony that is just now moving into a town called Ponyville. I am an author despite being a pegasus pony. I am upcoming author and write a drama/traveling series called “Days among the Pony World” about a character who every book moves to a new town for one year and has stories of all the ponies he meets in wherever he moves too. Today, however, is different as I am finally moving out of Manehatten and into a new location. Little did I know that more than just a new place was waiting for me there. Instead, I would unexpectedly find romance, friends, and much more. It all started about a week after moving in to the town I met her. I had just finished the first major draft of my latest book and began my first visit to the post office to send it to my editor. I entered the post office and there was a mare shuffling thru a whole pile of letters. I could tell she was and had a cutie mark on several bubbles which is odd for mail employee. I then spoke up. “Um, hello? I wish to send a package to an individual please.” “Huh?! Who said that? Augh!” she yelled and then fell into to the pile of letters. “Oh, I'm sorry, are you okay?” I quickly said. “I'm okay” she said as she got up. It was then that I fully saw her. She was a grey mare with flowing blonde hair with some how should I say it, different eyes. Despite that, I could feel my blood flowing just looking at her. “Um, yes, I'm new here to Ponyville and need a package delivered.” I said. “Oh, uh, nice to meet you!” she said as she put a huge grin on her face. “It's so nice to meet a new pony, I'm the mail pony Derpy Hooves!” “Oh, well my name is Red Feather, Miss Hooves.” I said in a quick reply. “Okay Mister Feather,” she said with the most joyful tone. “Where we sending your mail?” “Ah, yes, Manehatten please.” I said. “That will be 25 bits Mister Feather.” she said. “Thank you very much Miss Hooves.” I said as I gave her the bits. “Thank you so much, please come again!” she said with a just a massive grin. I then left the post office with my heart thumping more than usual. 'How odd,' I thought, 'What a nice mare but why do I feel funny?' And then I returned home. The next day I went to the library in Ponyville, it was ran by a princess of all things named Twilight Sparkle. I was going there for a very different reason then you would think. I went to get a romance novel, which I use for inspiration for my characters. It may sound strange for drama/traveling books but I actually don't travel, my books are based on things I read and creating my own fiction from them. Romance novels help inspire me with different characters if anything. Creating characters is not easy so I try to use drama more than anything if I can. I walked up to the library and knocked on the door. “Come in!” she said. “Yes, thank you.” I said. “I don't recognize you, are you a newcomer to Ponyville?” “Um yes, your highness, my name is Red Feather.” She then put this annoyed look on her face and then said, “ Please, no formalities just Twilight is fine, and you are Red Feather, correct? Sounds familiar...” she said with a pondering thinking look. “Oh, sorry, Miss Twilight.” "I said, no formalities just call me Twilight." she said with a demanding look. "Er, sorry." Then her face bloomed and immediately she asked, “Are you Red Feather, the author of Days among the Pony World?!” “Um, yes, I just recently moved to Ponyville, are you fan of my books?” “Oh yes!” she said loudly, “Your books are just like great soaps except with traveling. To make a series where every book there a new characters and they are always interesting and ...” she kept going on and on for quite a while. “Well Miss Twilight I wish to check out a book” I said with reluctance. “Oh I'm sorry for rambling, what are you looking for?” “Romance Novels.” “Romance?” she said with surprise. “Does that mean?” I could instantly tell what was going on in her head and replied, “No, I use Romance novels as inspiration for the new characters in my books. I'm currently planning my next book right now but I need some inspiration.” “Really? Huh, I'm surprised that's how you get your ideas.” I then quickly looked for the romance novels and picked a few out. “Thank you Miss Twilight.” "I told you no formalities, just Twilight, got it?" "Right, sorry, I was just taught to always be very formal." “No, thank you, its a pleasure to meet an author.” I then returned home. I then began reading the first novel out of the pile I had from the library. It was a tale of two nobles and the mare falls for a stallion noble at a dance. She has an arranged marriage to another noble however. The book talks more about the dance then anything else. I soon fell asleep and dreamed a very different dream. I was in a great ballroom and was dancing a great dance and there in the ballroom was only one other pony. A beautiful mare with glowing golden mane, It was Derpy Hooves, and before I knew it I was dancing with her. It was beautiful yet graceful. Then as if suddenly I was about to kiss her and then I woke up. When I woke up I knew my face was beet red, I could feel it. I thought to myself, 'What was that? Have I fallen for somepony I just met?'
Chapter 2 - The day an author had writer's blockLike I said before, I read Romance novels to get ideas for characters and drama between them.
THE END
Chapter 1 - The day an author came to town.Greetings, my name is Red Feather.
