Chapter 11 - The day an author had, once again, another date.

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

The day finally came. It was another date with Derpy but I knew what I was going to do. I have to tell her today. I just know it. I couldn't write, not that I had months ahead of me for my next book. That and I got more money due to my latest book selling out at certain places. Money doesn't interest me, I just need it for food and to keep my house. I then decided to take a nap because I was meeting her in the afternoon. Soon after I awoke, I cleaned myself up and began my walk to her house. There we met up, said bye to Dinky and were off. We then sat there at our dinner and right when I was about to speak up, she did instead.

“Um, Red, there's something I need to tell you.”

“Hmm? What is it?”

“I, two days ago, had a visit from your mother.”

I was surprised to say the least, “Mom came to you?”

“Yes, she said it was my choice whether or not to tell you that she came.”

“Well, since you decided to tell me, could I ask what she talked about?”

“Yeah, I was going to tell you anyways.”

She then began explaining how it went. Apparently, while me and dad were talking after our get-together the other day, my mom planned a meeting with a Derpy. My mom came over to her house and stayed for a few hours. Apparently their conversation went something like this:

“Let me start off by saying something to you Derpy dear.”

“Yes?”

“Thank you.”

“Huh?”

“Thank you for being there and being kind to our son.”

“Oh no no no, he's the one who is always kind to me. He's been kind to me ever since we first met.”

“You misunderstand what I'm saying.”

“I am?”

“Yes, my son Red has always been, well, a pony that doesn't relate to others. At all. He would rather stay away from the world.”

“Well, I kinda guessed that. All he talks about our books or he asks me about myself.”

“I thought so. He's always been like that. We tried to change him so many times. We eventually realized that he would be different from his outgoing parents.”

“Yes. He told me that you are especially outgoing.”

“Oh I am, despite being a florist, I go out and talk to my friends all the time. My husband who is a clock maker is a bit more reserved but he will admit he likes to party as well.”

“Hee hee, I still can't believe you two are his parents. You should have seen him at the ball.”

“Oh really, what was that like?”

“Oh, he was so embarrassed unless he was looking at me. While myself, I was just happy actually going to a ball for the first time in my life.”

“Oh really? You love balls that much?”

“It was a wonderful time.”

“I could hook you up with another. I have quite a bunch of friends in Manehattan.”

“Really? Well, only if Red's okay with it.”

“Oh he will be, he'll do anything for you.”

“Really, what make s you say that?”

“That's why I'm here dear.”

“Huh?”

“Red, he will probably go through the rest of his life with maybe a handful of friends. Its just how he is. That's why I'm here, to help both you and him along.”

“Help us how?”

“First, I'm going to tell you something really important.”

“What?”

“Red is late bloomer. He will always take things slowly. He's not dumb, its just that he does everything in his life at his own pace.”

“Oh I know that, he was slow when we took a day to walk around Ponyville.”

“That's not what I meant Derpy.”

“Really?”

“Yes, what I meant was that he will also be slow in relationships.”

Derpy then paused on the story, though she had not quoted all that was said above, I knew that was the gist of what they talked about.

I then spoke up, “It's okay Derpy, you don't have to go any further.”

“Huh? Why?”

“Well, why you two were arranging your meeting the other day when we had our get-together, me and my dear old dad had a talk as well.”

“Really, what about?”

“Well....” I then paused. How do I say this? Do I just tell her straight out? What do I do?

“Well Derpy, he talked to me about what he observed about our relationship.”

“Same as your mother then?”

“Yeah, pretty much.”

“Wow, they sure are smart.”

“Yeah, but I think its experience more than anything.”

“True....”

“Also Derpy...”

“Yes?”

“These past few days, I've been conflicted. I've been going over and over this in my head and well, I just don't know.”

“Don't know what?”

“.....It's just, well, I've racking my brain just what to do and well, I'm going to do it right now.”

“What are you going to do?”

“I.....” I paused for just a second, I felt a slight lump in my throat but then I ate the lump as fast as I could.

“I....I love you Derpy. Truth be told, I think I fell in love with you the first time I saw you.”

I looked at her and she just began crying. Tears just flowed from her eyes.

“Derpy, I..” before I could say I was sorry she spoke.

“I love you too Red.”

I couldn't think. I couldn't move. I started crying as well. We just both sat there crying. I couldn't believe it. I don't think she could either. I don't know how long we just sat there. Then, I just got up and kissed her. I kissed her for what seemed forever. As if perfection itself had came blessed our kiss. I just couldn't stop. Our mouths finally released and we separated. Man, we both were blushing like no tomorrow. We then got the check and went to her house. Dinky had fell asleep and Carrot Top left soon after. Then we just sat there together.

“Red?”

“Yes?”

“What do we do now?”

“.....Part of me knows, but I'm not sure I want to go there right now.”

“Why?”

“Because I want this night to last forever. Just me and you sitting here, knowing we love each other.”

“.....I couldn't agree more.”

“Thank you Derpy.”

“For what?”

“For loving a stupid stallion like me.”

“No, thank you for loving a cute mare like me.”

“Heh heh...Yeah.”

We then made out and soon went to bed. Ironically, we both immediately fell asleep as soon as our heads fell on the bed. It didn't matter, all I knew was that we were happy and that was more than enough.
