She turned her head to the right side and saw her old alarm clock. She couldn't easily see the hands on the clock, so she reached for the lantern on her bedside table. The lantern clanked awkwardly loud while Sylvia fumbled for the switch on the top of the lantern. When she finally flipped the switch, it made a very loud click. Sylvia flinched at the sound while she looked at the hands on the clock. The old pink clock with a broken minute hand had a yin yang of Celestia and Luna on it read 11:43. She nodded and walked into the bathroom. Her dark blue mane still had the light green stain in it from the ink she had spilled in it from the previous night. Her pink face analyzed herself and deemed herself ready for public. She pulled a makeshift parachute from the bathroom closet and strapped it onto herself, thinking how to be as quiet as possible as she opened the window in her room. Without thinking, she jumped out of the window, floating two stories down to the ground. She landed in her mother's bushes, trying her best not to damage any of the white flowers. She rustled out of the bushes and ran across the street to her friend Jeb's house. Jeb was standing outside of his door, his orange face staring at Sylvia's house. His light yellow mane was short and unkempt, as usual. He still had his purple muffin pajamas on. "Well, aren't you coming?" Sylvia asked. "I still don't see why I have to come along," Jeb grumbled. "YOU made the plane." Sylvia rolled her eyes. She knew he was always like that when he woke up, especially late at night. "Come on!" she smiled. "It'll be fun!" Jeb sighed and followed Sylvia back to her house, specifically the old garage that her parents had forgotten about. She opened the creaky garage door to reveal a cardboard plane. The plane was fairly streamlined, with three props and two seats. A ham radio was strapped to a makeshift dashboard by a couple of strips of leather. An eight ball strapped to an iron rod served as a stick shift of sorts. Sylvia flipped a small switch, and the engine began putting. Two exhaust pipes began spitting noxious fumes as Sylvia cranked the shift up a gear. The props began to spin as Sylvia and Jeb put on aviator goggles and oxygen tanks. "Pre-flight checks done?" Sylvia asked Jeb as he checked the engine. "We are green for takeoff," Jeb said as he shut the engine hood. Sylvia flipped the brake switch and the plane began moving forward. Jeb began whimpering and covered his goggles with his hooves as the plane took off.
