Sweetie Belle sighed, kicking her hooves at the ground, lazily watching dust clouds drift up, dissipating.

"Don't do that!" Rarity scolded. "You'll get my mane dirty, and I have to look presentable." The white unicorn tossed her elegantly styled, violet mane, causing Sweetie to give a snort of annoyance.

"What's that, Sweetie?" the stylish unicorn paused to frown warningly at her younger sister.

"Nothing," the young filly muttered. "Sorry."

The mare shook her head slightly, murmuring something her breath. "Come along, Sweetie Belle." she said, resuming her trot.

Sweetie sighed, hooves aching slighty. They had been walking farther than normal, and the unicorn filly wondered where in Equestria they were headed. Were they going to Manehattan by hoof? She gave an audible groan of fatique, watching her big sister turn her head to glance at Sweetie Belle, without pausing to offer to carry her, whisper words of comfort, or at the very least, tell her they were almost there.

"Here we are." Rarity announced cheerfully, Sweetie beaming in response.

She silently watched as her sister dusted off her coat. It was spotless anyways, and she had no idea what the older mare had sighted. She looked up at the building, already unimpressed. She wasn't so sure she wanted to go into a store called 'Lovely Fragrances', and frankly, she didn't know what a store such as that could possibly sell. That was understandable, as she had no idea what the word fragrance meant.

"Follow me, Sweetie Belle," Rarity instructed. "We'll find you something suitable for school."

Sweetie paused, musing over this. If this was a saddlebag shop, it made no sense. Rarity would obsess over
measuring her and make her a saddlebag instead. She wouldn't mind that, except for the measuring bit. The very thought of standing still for so long bothered her.

"What's in here?" she ventured.
"A perfume shop," Rarity informed her. "As soon as you step inside, an array of simply delightful scents hits your muzzle! Come, come, you'll love it in here."

As soon as Sweetie heard the word perfume, she knew she wasn't going to. Nonetheless, she cantered warily after her sister into the dreaded building. Strong scents of different varieties hit her muzzle, making her eyes water. She coughed a bit, recoiling.

"You'll get used to it, darling," Rarity said, somewhat sympathetic. "Don't you worry. Lets have a look at what they have here."
Sweetie looked around carefully, for if she touched anything, she would get the phrase 'Look, but don't touch'. Whenever her sister said that, she felt like a foal again, and she didn't want to feel like a baby just before her sixth year of school started, for what was the fun in that? This year, her parents had encouraged her to raise her language grade. She'd done relatively well in Physical Education, shortened to P.E., and Math was her best subject, but Language was something she'd needed improvement on.

"Sweetie Belle," her sister interrupted her thoughts. "Are we not looking around? You've stopped in the middle of the aisle, dear."

"N-no, I was looking!" the filly squeaked, running over to the closest perfume bottle she could find, pointing at it. "I really like it's... smell?"
"Right, I think we should move on." the older mare suggested, silently noting that the word on the bottle was 'Seduction'.
"O-okay!" Sweetie Belle quickly moved back to her sister's sides, satisfied with her quick cover-up.

Rarity found an aisle full of more innocent-seeming scents, so she guided the white filly and let her look around.

"Look, Rarity!" the afore-mentioned filly squeaked. "This one is called Cupcake Reverie! A-and this one is called Marshmallow Escape."
"Which one do you like most?" Rarity said, biting back a sharp retort on ladies and how they don't raise their voices. She was only a child, and children must enjoy themselves. It was in their nature, after all.
"Hm," Sweetie Belle considered this question. "I like Marshmallow Escape the best."

Rarity inspected it and grabbed a package consisting of two bottles of said perfume, as well as body wash and shampoo of the same scent.
"Lets go see the cashier, darling." she told her sister.
"Okay!" Sweetie Belle followed, already forgetting her previous thought of not having any fun in this store. She followed Rarity, a small skip in her step.

Everything was purchased and paid for, and the two trotted home, this time, with no voiced (or thought) complaints of achy hooves.

Author's Note

This probably isn't a very good story, seeing as this is my second time writing a fanfiction on fimfiction (That sounded like poetry, almost) and the first time was on my old account. I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and I would love if you gave me feedback on how to improve! Tell me what you liked, and what you didn't. :twilightsheepish:
