Legends Unite
It begins
Load Full StoryThe bright sun shined down on Crash’s home of Insanity Island. Crash and his group consisting of Coco and Aku Aku were relaxing around the collection of trees and bushes.
“Its such a beautiful day today.” Coco said as she flipped over to her back to catch some sun for her ‘Lovely’ tan.
“It sure is Coco. Just another reason for us to be out here enjoying the sun.” Aku aku said. “What do you think Crash?”
Crash simply nodded his head, closing his eyes with a wide smile on his face.
“You know its weird.”
“What is Coco?” Aku asked as Crash began to take his daily sun bathing nap.
“Since it’s such a nice day you would think something will happen that would endanger our lives.”
“It’s not best to think that way Coco. Besides, we haven’t heard anything from my evil brother Uka Uka and Dr. Cortex. So I think we’ll be fine.”
“I guess but still, it’s been a week now. Those two have to be thinking of something so evil and devastating that it would likely beat us!” Coco looked over to see Crash sleeping on the ground and Aku Aku trying to wake him up.
“Coco.” Aku Aku said as he bumped into Crash a few times. “Let’s not be negative right now, we have a chance to relax and we should not take it for granted.” He bumped into Crash one final time, only getting a few loud snores from the bandicoot. “What could Dr. Cortex possibly do to ruin our fun today.”
Meanwhile a couple of meters away from the group and a figure was crouching near a bush, giggling like a little girl. The figure had a big head with an N printed on his forehead. He had a black goatee with crazy hair on the side of his head, “Ah there you are Crash, soon you will no longer be a pain in my glorious and sexy butt.”
“CORTEX!!” The scientist jumped as he looked behind him to see an black and angry mask staring at him with full rage.
“Oh mighty Uka Uka, it’’s you.” Cortex said in a almost pleading tone, sweat trickling down his face as he stared at the mask.
“Of course it’s me you brain dead idiot. Who else would it be!” Uka Uka floated erratically around Cortex. “Why is it that they are still ALIVE!”
“I am working on that part, just give me time to-”
“I’VE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR EXCUSES!” The dark mask yelled out into the face of Cortex. “You’re starting to make me look bad and that’s bad and if you wanna stay on my good side then you better come up with a way to destroy my idiot brother and his equally idiotic friends.”
“Well believe it or not but I do have a way to destroy them this time.” Cortex declared as Uka Uka got up close to his face.
“Oh is that so and what does the most intellectual scientist on the planet have for me this time?” Uka Uka sarcastically asked as he circled around Cortex’s rather large head. “Laser beams, giant robots or some mutated creature that you created that will eventually turn on you and RUIN EVERYTHING!!!!”
“Those were just setbacks, every evil genius has them I mean look at yo-” He cut himself off once he saw Uka Uka’s eyes burning like flames “- I mean look at me, I created a space station that failed but it freed you didn’t it?”
Uka Uka stared at Cortex for a few seconds. “You’re lucky I need your assistance, otherwise I would have been rid of you by now. So what is it that you got this time Cortex?”
“This.” Cortex replied as he pulled out a small device that was shaped as a potato.
“What in the world is that?” Uka Uka asked as he looked it over a few times
“This is a teleportation device Uka Uka and this is the answer to my- our problems.”
“You say that about every creation of yours and as usual… IT FAILS!”
Cortex shrieked at his “partner’s” yelling but quickly recovered and slicked his hair back. “I assure you that this time, our plan will succeed. You see this device could teleport any matter from one place to another instantaneously.”
“What’s your point?” Uka Uka cocked his eye at the doctor.
“Think of it in this way, with this we can teleport them to ANY destination that we want. For example we can teleport them inside if an active Volcano or we can send them to a shark infested water or better yet we can teleport them to the sun for some good old fashion roasted bandicoot.”
Uka Uka nearly squealed like a girl with the last idea. “Cortex! For once you’re using that oversize head of yours for something useful.”
“Why thank you and it won’t be long before I- eh, we control the-”
“Enough with the monologuing already! This is why we keep losing you imbecile. Aim you teleporter and SEND THEM TO THE SUN!”
“Ummm about that, there is a slight catch to it though.”
“WHAT!!!”
“For the device to work we have to get closer to them.”
“WHY IS THAT?!” the dark mask was ready to burst, however he kept his rage to a minimal for the moment.
“W-well it’s still in the development stage and I hadn’t had a chance to work out all the kinks. I could backfire and do worse than what we plan.” Cortex whimpered out.
Uka Uka’s temper dropped quickly and a devilish smile appeared on his face. “Even better! The worse that could happen could mean exploding or something even more horrible than that… I LOVE IT!”
“Uh sure let’s go with that.”
“Well what are we waiting for, aim that teleporter at them and let’s see them explode!”
Cortex turned his attention towards the group, Crash now awake and chasing Aku Aku around in a game of chase. He waited for the moment to strike.
Crash continued to chase Aku Aku until he stopped and notice that he was starting to glow.
Aku turned around also saw this “Crash what's wrong?!”
Crash began swiping himself as he tried to get the glow off him (Even though it clearly wasn't working) as he jumped up and down and then ran in circles panicking. He tried to rub himself along the sandy ground but the glow remained on him.
Coco ran over to Crash but as she tried to grab his hand, her hand phased through his. “What the?! Crash, you disappearing!”
“How is that even possible?” Aku Aku asked. Before Aku Aku or Coco could think of anything else Crash fully disappeared leaving the two alone in shock and silence as Coco began to cry.
Meanwhile in the bushes Uka Uka and Cortex stood there in shock and in disbelief as Cortex broke the silence “It worked..I can't believe it worked.”
“Yeah… we’re finally free of that nuisance of a bandicoot.” Uka Uka looked at Cortex with a confused look on his face, “What do we do now? I mean this is the first time a plan of your’s actually worked.”
“I know, I didn’t think too far after this-” Holds up the teleporter “-I thought it was going to fail and I would go back to my room and cry myself to sleep like I do every time we fail.”
They stayed silent for a few more seconds before Uka Uka broke the silence “Where did your device send him?”
Cortex checked his device and a look of shock came upon his face that Uka saw. “What is it...Is he burning on the surface of the sun?”
“Uh not even close.” Was all Cortex could say as he continued to stare at the device.
“For the love of all things pure and unholy please tell me he’s at least somewhere painful or agonizing?!” Uka Uka pleaded.
“Well…It says here that he is nowhere in our galaxy or in our own universe...He’s gone.”
“So he’s erase from reality? EVEN BETTER!!!”
“Actually no, he’s somewhere but he’s not in our reality.” Cortex pressed a button on the teleporter. “He’s far far away from us. Light years away from us.”
“Well beggars can’t be choosers I guess. He’s still out of my sight and now the only ones left are that annoying female bandicoot and my feeble brother. Now what should we do next?”
“We go after them?”
“No..Let my weak brother and that annoying girl grieve for him as it will weaken their spirits. For now we head back to base to plan our next step of world domination...Bandicoot free.”
Back over to where Coco and Aku were, they finally calmed themselves down long enough to process what was going on.
“This has to be the work of Dr. Cortex and your evil brother Uka Uka. Only they would want Crash out of the way.” Coco deduced quickly.
“I know Coco but right now we need to find a way to bring Crash back before those two begin their attack. If we don’t get him back, we’ll all be at the mercy of those two.”
“Then let’s get to work and try to locate him. We have to get him back no matter what.”
In an open field of green grass a purple dragon was laying down with his best friend Sparx the dragonfly as they both were enjoying the warm sun.
“This is the life ain’t it Sparx.”
“Can’t argue with that Spyro. No enemies to fight and no life threatening missions to go on. Yeah this is wonderful.” Sparx said with his arms cushioning his head.
“Yeah it is.” Spyro said with a sad tone that Sparx caught.
“What is it buddy?”
“It’s just that I missed the adventures and fighting the bad guys. It was a thrill I enjoyed till the very end. Too bad it ended.”
“Spyro, I really doubt Ripto is done with us. The guy really has it out to destroy you, speaking of which, what has that guy been up to lately?”
“Who knows who cares, I just want something to pop up that will give me an excuse to do something.” Right when Spyro said that they both heard a loud explosion from the north “Like that. Come on lets go check it out.” Spyro said as he got up but was stopped by Sparx tugging on his tail.
“Oh no you don’t Spyro!”
Spyro turned around to Sparx folding his arms. “Why?! Someone could be in trouble.”
“And it could be a trap like it always is.”
“But what if someone is in trouble? We have to help them!”
“No we don't, look Spyro maybe it was just an earthquake or something.”
“Well we won't know for sure if we don't check it out right?”
“Fine, we’ll check it out but I swear if anything dangerous is there that would want to kill us, I’m out.”
“Geez Sparx, you worry too much. I doubt we’ll run into danger, maybe it’s just a baby dragon learning the ropes if it makes you feel any better. Now come on.” Spyro said as he began to heads towards the explosion they heard from before as Sparx followed behind still a bit stemmed.
Spyro continued to run until he stopped dead in his tracks.
“What is it Spyro, is it something that will kill us or-” Sparx stopped as he and Spyro gazed upon a huge purple portal in front of them. “What is going on here?”
“This looks like Ripto’s doing but why would he open a portal out in the middle of nowhere?” Spyro walked up to it and examined it from all sides. “Well it seems safe but it could still be a trap.”
“I don’t like this Spyro, Ripto is definitely up to something.”
“Then let’s go and see what he’s up to and stop him of course.”
Spyro moved in closer but felt the tugging of Sparx again on his horn. “I’m telling you this is a bad idea and considering our record, this is nothing short of bad!”
Spyro shook the dragonfly off. “What’s the worse that could happen this time?” He extended his arm into the portal and in mere seconds was pulled in without warning.
Sparx looked around, frantically trying to find his friend but finding nothing. “Spyro?!”
Nosgoth. I place of death and ruin as the stench of decay filled the air around Nosgoth as it is overrun with dominic vampires hellbent on attacking anyone who dares enter their home. They blindly serve their lord and master as they fill their hunger with the blood of the last remaining survivors of mankind. The brave who enter to challenge their lord never returns to tell the tale, consumed before ever gazing an eye at their leader’s face.
Deep within the halls of this decrepit world, as a group of demonic vampires surveyed the areas, above them hiding in the shadows was a blue wraith vampire named Raziel. His bright, glowing eyes looking down upon his former brethren as he was disgusted upon the sight of them feasting on a corpse.
“Sickening beasts, they ravage the corpse like dogs.” He lowered himself farther down to get a better view of the grotesque scene “Hard to believe that these beasts would be the offspring of my brothers.”
Raziel dropped another level as he continued descending towards the floor. He could clearly see the vampires devouring the raw flesh like cannibals who’ve never eaten before. He continued to observe them finish off the body as he finally reached the floor of the room.
He remained silent, advancing on the slowly while preparing his reaver for battle. “Kain, is this what you wanted us to be like. Your goals are as sick and twisted as ever.”
He moved up behind some cover as he swiftly took cover behind some broken pillars “I need to time this right, otherwise they’ll alert others.” He stayed behind the cover, using his ears to hear the two vampires talk as they toss the bones away. One of the bones was flung towards his direction and landed merely a few inches from him.
Upon gazing the bone on the ground, an idea came to Raziel’s head as he picked up the bone and flung it over near the far side of the group of demonic beasts. One beast saw it and tapped on the other to grab his attention. Both beasts moved over to the bone with one picking it up and looking at it like a child with a toy.
“Here’s my chance!” He thought as he jumped from his cover and ran over to the two beasts with his reaver fully ready. He impaled one of the beast through the head, using his free hand to grip the neck. He quickly severed the head and slammed the body into the other beast. With the the other one sorta caught off guard, Raziel lunged at it and forced his weapon down his throat and through his stomach.
The beast tried to scream but gurgling sounds were only heard as the blade of the reaver had slashed through both the lower and upper intestine. Raziel slowly removed his weapon from the beast’s mouth and finished it by striking it down the middle. Blood sprayed onto the floor as the two body parts hit the ground in opposite directions.
Once the two beasts were down, two souls came out from their vile carcass and hovered in front Raziel. Raziel knowing what comes next pulls down his cloak and begins to devour the two souls In mere seconds, the souls were forced into his mouth and absorbed. He pulled the cloak back over his mouth and continued his way to the exit.
“*Huff*...*Puff*..I can’t believe I have been resorted to this. Devouring souls, what have I become?”
“You have become a powerful warrior Raziel. Devouring the souls of your enemies have increased your power and skills.” The booming voice came into Raziel’s head as he damn well knew who it belonged to.
“Ah if it isn't my own benefactor, how lovely of you to drop in.” Raziel said sarcastically. “No doubt you're here you to see my progress.”
“In a matter of fact yes I have, have you killed Kain yet?”
“Not yet. So far I’ve only killed my two former brothers Melchiah and Zephon.”
“You must hurry Raziel, if you are to fully exact revenge against Kain then you must defeat him.”
“Did you know about this?”
“About what?”
“That my former brethren would become vile beasts?”
“I told you already Raziel, while you were gone, Nosgoth has changed. Did it ever concur to you that time doesn't stop for you?”
“I could care less. All I care about is slaughtering Kain and saving all of Nosgoth.”
“Then go do it Raziel, For Nosgoth..For yourself my humble servant..My Soul Reaver.” And with that Raziel felt the presence of the Elder God lifted as he knew he was back all alone.
“Perhaps I should go to Ariel. Maybe she can point me in the right direction.” Raziel then began to head back to to the chamber that housed the pillars of Nosgoth. As he returned to the chamber, the memory of this place came into his mind as he remembered his previous encounter with his former master Kain. He remembered being defeated by Kain and he struck him down with the Soul Reaver, causing it to shatter and fusing with him to become the reaver blade. The memory replayed in his head several times, only fueling his rage even more.
Upon reaching the center, Raziel focused his thoughts and in an instant he was back in the Spectral realm “Ariel, where are you?”
“Ah I see that you have returned Raziel.” Raziel turns around to see Ariel, the once pillar guardian of balance now haunts the pillars for all eternity. “Have you yet killed Kain?”
“No.” Raziel sternly said.
“Why have you not killed him yet?”
“I don’t know where exactly to find the bastard, I thought you could help me with that part.”
Ariel simply nodded her head and pointed to the door behind Raziel. “I’ve been detecting a strong collection of energy there, you may find him if you go through those doors.”
Raziel turned towards the door and began walking. “At last, I’ll finally have my revenge.”
“Be careful Raziel, do not lose your focus from revenge.”
“That bastard will die for what he has done Ariel. So don’t worry about me.”
Raziel continued to walk towards the far sided door as he grabbed the door handle and pulled it open. As he walked into the room, his eyes became widen as the mere shock filled his expression upon what he was seeing.
In front of him was a huge purple portal “What kind of sorcery is this?”
“Strange.” Raziel noticing Ariel floating in behind him as she gazes at the portal “I have never seen anything like this.”
“What could Kain possibly do with this… thing?”
“I do not know Raziel, but we must not allow him to use it otherwise we may all be in danger.” Ariel spoke in a grim tone, nearly catching Raziel off guard.
“How do we destroy it?” Raziel asked.
“I do not know. This is the first time I’ve seen anything like this but there is something I feel beyond the portal.”
“What?”
“I’m not sure Raziel but I feel that you need to go through it.”
“What?!”
“Whatever may be through that portal is what Kain wants and we can’t allow him to obtain it.”
“And what if it’s a trap. Kain tricked me once and I will not be deceived again.”
“I do not feel Kain’s presence beyond the portal Raziel, but I feel something that I hadn't before….Peace.”
“Peace? Why would Kain want peace especially after all the unspeakable things he has done. Either he’s completely lost it or this thing is for something else.”
Ariel glanced at him with a grim look on her face. “You will not know unless you go through Raziel. Whether good or bad, Kain wants it and he will stop at nothing to obtain it.”
Raziel pondered the idea for a few minutes before nodding his head and stepping up to the portal. “I refuse to allow him whatever it is on the other side of this portal. But how will I know that I won't get trapped there?”
“You don't Raziel.” Ariel answered bluntly as Raziel looked at her but a warm smile came across her face “But I know that luck will be on your side and that somewhere beyond this portal, you will find your peace.”
“You assume it Ariel but I doubt that will be likely.” He stepped up to the portal once more and turned to face Ariel. “I will only find peace when Kain is dead by my hands.” He turned back around and jumped into the waiting portal, leaving purple sparks and a still smiling Ariel behind.
"Here you go. Don't eat it all too fast." She said in a sweet voice as she gave the rabbits, chickens, and several jackalopes their food for the day. A small smile appeared on her face as they ate the food without argument. "And remember to play nice with each other after you all have had your fill."
Fluttershy continued to feed the rest of the animals when she noticed some smoke coming from within the Everfree Forest. At first, the smoke was light and small but minute after minute the smoke became darker and heavier. Her eyes widened as a figure, nearly the same size as her weakly walked over to her and the animals. Smoke emanated from it's mouth as it continued to make its way towards her. The animals soon cowered behind Fluttershy who was also scared to the point she would've coward behind herself if it were possible.
Fluttershy watched as the figure made it to the entrance of the forest before falling to the ground with the smoke disappearing seconds afterwards. To her surprise and horror, it was a purple dragon with golden horns and purple scales. There were no signs of injuries and it seemed like he was tired from traveling as hinted from the sounds of snoring. Fluttershy slowly walked over to the dragon, shaking with every step she made. She examined him for a few minutes before looking back at the group of animals behind her.
"We need to take this poor dragon back to my house." Fluttershy said which caused the animals to look amongst each other before turning back to the yellow mare.
