Sunset Shimmer's New Endeavor
The Next Day
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe sun rose high over the little city of Canterlot. In this small city rested a pink house that consisted of many girls who had a sleep over, one boy involved too. Tryston slowly opened his eyes to the glory of the morning sun shining through the window. He figured he shouldn't have slept so close to it, but he couldn't sleep anywhere else since the incident the night before.
'Oh well,' he thought, 'Now's as good a time as any.' So he got up from his little spot on the floor, quietly snug out into the hallway with his stuff(surprisingly not tripping over anyone), and got down the stairs. Once he was, he shoved all his things into his duffle bag. He threw the bag onto his back and headed for the door. Just as he was, a strong smell flew by his nostril. He was walking past the kitchen doorway, and noticed a figure inside.
'Whelp, better go see what's going on.' So Tryston entered the kitchen, to find Sunset over the stove. She heard him walk into the room and turned around.
"Oh, hey Tryston," she said, "Funny running into you here," she then looked off to the side, "In fact I've had a past of bumping into people here."
"Interesting. Listen, I'm sorry for what I said last night. It's just..."
"You don't have to be sorry. I can see it must have been horrible on that island. You weren't able to tell me something simple, not knowing how people would react. I can't pretend to understand how that feels, but I can understand the pain. I can understand the dark things you do in your life. However, there are always those who will stand by you. I can be one of those people." She then took both of her hands and wrapped them around one of his.
"Sunset," said Tryston.
"Yes."
"I was hoping we could talk about this later, somewhere with just the two of us."
"You mean....like a date?" said Sunset, putting emphasis on the last word.
"If you want."
"I would love to," Sunset was getting close to Tryston's face, "Just when?"
"Well, can I get back to you on that?"
"Of course," said Sunset with half lidded eyes. She then let go and turned back to the stove, "You staying for breakfast?"
"I'd love to. But I have to get going. I have to meet with an old friend."
"Oh, okay. See you later." With that, Tryston smiled and left the room. Sunset could hear the door close on his way out of the house.
Sunset the finished cooking her breakfast, she walked into the living room. She took hold of the remote and clicked the power button. As usual, the channel that appeared was food network. Sunset simply dialed the buttons on the remote, and the channel changed to the local news, where the two anchors had just finished a report.
"Thanks Stacy, for that wonderful review," said the male anchor. Sunset just rolled her eyes, and was about to change the station when:
"In other news, the Queen Consolidated Advanced Sciences Department, in Canterlot, was just robbed late last night. We now go live to our field reporter Megan Durrett, who is currently on the scene." The screen on the show then went to the scene of the crime. A young looking blond haired girl stood in front of the screen with a microphone.
"Thanks Frank. As you guys can see behind me, the police are doing a search of the building to find out exactly what the crooks were looking for. So far, they haven't found anything, but will continue with the search. Also, as you can see, no major damage was done to the building, which means they most likely..."
"Boring," said Sunset, "What else is on?" She then clicked on the remote buttons to bring her to the morning cartoons.

Tryston had drove his car down to a little diner in Canterlot. Once he parked it, he got out, walked to the door, and stepped inside. Scoping the area of the diner, he could see there were quite a few people still in their pajamas. However, he was only looking for one particular individual. He could see the very figure wave him over to a table in a secluded part of the diner. Tryston simply walked of to where this figure was.
When he reached this secluded area, he could clearly recognize this figure. He was male, had thick black hair, and was wearing formal attire.
"Well you've certainly taken your time getting here, " said the male figure.
"Sorry Jack," replied Tryston, "Had a little....business to take care of." Then he sat down in his set, followed by Jack on the other side.
"Oh really, what kind of business?" Jack seemed to have a devilish smirk on his face after saying that last word.
"Don't misinterpret that. I was in school yesterday for a tour before my first day, principle's request. Anyway, the girl who showed me around wanted me to hang out with her friends. She also wanted to have me over for one of their sleep overs."
"Oh god Tryston. You keep doing this, you know what will just continue."
"You think I don't know that Jack? I was only accepting a request from a girl who wanted to help a new student on his first day. And....something else happened."
"Oh boy, here we go."
"I have no idea why, but this girl, Trixie is what they called her, came over to our table. She tried to harass me, but to no avail. Then, she took my sketchbook, as I like to call it. I......made a scene over it, and the girls had to settle it."
"Oh boy Tryston, you can't get obsessive over that."
"I know but......it was the fact that it was the last thing my mom gave me before she left. You know, for that big trip in Manhattan."
"I know, but I really don't think we should be messing with this High School."
"Well, do you have a better cover plan?"
"Actually...."
"That was rhetorical."
"Right, sorry."
"Anyway, we have bigger things to deal with than that."
"Such as.....?"
"The real reason I decided we come here. Do you know Peregrine Percival?"
"You mean the principle of the intermediate school?"
"Yes. Jack....."Tryston paused dramatically, "He's on the list." Jack was in the middle of drinking his apple juice he ordered, but then started to choke on it after Tryston said that. Finally, after many coughs and hacks, he spoke up.
"The list?! You mean that thing your father gave you? I thought you said we were putting that behind us."
"I know, but this is important. Did you see it on the news? Someone tried to steal from Queen Consolidated. And every name on that list, had a reason to be on it. I recognized his name at school yesterday, long story. Then the robbery happens. You can't tell me that's a coincidence."
"Okay, maybe you have a point. But how do we stop him? We can't just throw the Arrow into this."
"Do you have any better ideas?"
"None on the fly, but anything is better than you in that hood. Oh, I forgot to mention, I spoke to the doctors. They said those braces of yours should be coming off in a few days."
"Thanks Jack. These things have been a hassle for a while now."
"Well just try not to let enemies punch you in the mouth."
"Whatever Jack. I hope the day is soon. The sooner these are off, the sooner we can get back in the field."
"Like I said, just a few days. At most, Thursday."
"Okay, cause I still need to arrange something with someone."
************************************************************************************************
Sunset Shimmer was in a more cheerful mood than usual at school that day. She went through all of her morning classes with a little extra spunk than usual. Tryston however, even though he had started today, wasn't in any of her classes so far. She only had to wait until lunch, when they'd see each other again. Of course there was the free period they had before lunch.
Anyway, as the bell to fourth period finally ended, Sunset made a mad dash for the band room. Of course, when she arrived, Rainbow and Applejack were already there.
"Whoa there girl!" said Applejack, "What's the rush?"
"Sorry," replied Sunset, with a slight blush on her face, "Just, um......"
"Don't even try any excuses Sunset," said Rainbow, "I know what it is." A smirk grew on her face. They all remembered the night before.
"You do?" asked Sunset with a quizzical and anxious expression.
"Of course I do," replied Rainbow, "In fact, it's really quite obvious."
"What's quite obvious?" called a voice. 'Oh no,' thought Sunset, 'Please don't be....' Through the doors came Rarity.
"Well Rarity," started Rainbow, "It just so happens that our Sunset has a crush."
"Oh, is that so? How ever did you figure it out?" she asked sarcastically.
"Trust me, I can tell these things just from people's actions and expressions. And I have a feeling I know who it is." Rainbow's smirk grew wider now.
"Oh, do tell," replied Rarity.
"I think it's........"
"It's no one!" claimed Sunset, covering Rainbow's mouth with her hand. Rainbow grabbed Sunset's arm with hers and pulled her hand off of her face.
"You know, I was only joking with you," she said.
"Oh," said Sunset, now realizing her error , "Sorry about that." Her face was now bright red too.
"I might reconsider that thought though," said Rainbow.
Rarity gave a devilish smirk towards Sunset, "Well," she said, "Is it true then Sunset?" Sunset Shimmer sighed. She had been caught.
"Yes," she said, "It's true." The whole room went silent. Even after Pinkie and Fluttershy arrived, no one barely said a word to each other. Throughout most of the period, they didn't speak. Until finally, Pinkie spoke up.
"What's with all this silence?" she asked, "Usually practice is so lively at this time. But it doesn't seem so now." The others looked at each other. They had to admit, it did seem a little wrong being so quiet.
"You're right Pinkie," said Applejack, "Lets do something to lighten things up." As if on cue, Tryston entered the room.
"Hey guys," he said, "What's up?" Everyone remained silent. Sunset's facial expression seemed to brighten up at noticing Tryston. However, this didn't go unnoticed by a certain, rainbow haired guitar player.
"Oh, Hey Tryston!" exclaimed Pinkie, "Nice to see you again."
"Nice to see all of you too," replied Tryston, "But I thought you guys were a band."
"And what's that suppose to mean?" asked Applejack, giving Tryston a glare. Tryston just glared right back.
"Well, yesterday I heard music from a mile away. Just curious as to why it's so silent."
"It won't be for long," said Rainbow, "Come on guys, lets rock!" So they did. They somehow got out of an unknown mood trance, and played their music. Throughout most of the songs they played, Sunset kept eyeing Tryston. This didn't go unnoticed by other members of the band. Eventually, the music died down, as the bell rang for lunch.
"That's our exit cue," said Dash, "Time to pack up." After a few moments to tighty up the area, the group soon left for lunch. Sunset however, stayed behind, as did Tryston. But this was because he had to pack up his notebook and other school related stuff from his other classes that day.
"Tryston," said Sunset.
"Yeah?" asked Tryston, turning his head from his bag.
"I need to tell you something. Well, more along the lines of discussing. About our date." A small blush came across Sunset's face.
"Oh," replied Tryston, "Well, what did you wanna discuss?"
"It's just..............I won't be able to go on that date until next Friday. I hope you don't mind."
"Oh, no, I don't mind at all. It's totally fine."
"Okay, thank you!" Sunset lunged at Tryston and brought him into a tight embrace, "Thank you so much!" Sunset then realized what she just did, and pulled back, "Oh, I'm sorry."
"No need to be sorry," replied Tryston, "On an unrelated note, sometime this week I'll be getting these braces off."
"Oh cool," said Sunset. Then the two started their journey down to the cafeteria, "But if I may ask, why did you need those in the first place?" At the very mention of that, Tryston soon zoned into the world only he knew.
*************************************************************************************************
"You'll never escape this time. My men have heard all about you, and we've studied all your most signature moves." Inside of an abandoned warehouse, a tall gentleman stood wearing a thick black trench coat, and carrying a gun sling at his side. In front of this man, stood a figure in a dark blue hood, a dark blue jump suit, boots, and had an arrow pack across his back (no pun intended). He also was wearing a mask under his hood and had a bow with an arrow pointed directly to the other man.
"Yet," said the figure, his voice seemingly very deep, "You always manage to screw up and I end up escaping."
"Not this time. Grey Skull! Stab! Get him!" Suddenly, two men advanced from the shadows. The masked figure in the hood shot two arrows. One for each of the two, which in a split second pinned them against the wall. The hooded figure then turned to the other figure.
"I came for you, not your mindless slaves," he said.
"Very well then, I'll play your game," said the other figure, "But lets see if you can defend yourself against my new partner." As if out of nowhere, and on cue, another figure appeared. He was dressed in a pitch black jump suit and a blue mask, "I believe you two have met before."
The hooded figure raised his bow and an arrow to the other figure, "You don't need to do this."
"Yes I do! I remember you trying to kill me last year, in Mr. Merlin's office during that event!"
"I'm sorry for what I did, but that version of me is long gone by now. We don't need to fight."
"It's too late now! I'll kill you!" The figure then charged at the hooded one. However, he was able to evade the man and charge at him for the advance. *Insert fighting scene here*. But, no matter how many arrows this, hood guy shot, the other man just pulled them out like they were splinters. He then lay a massive punch right in the hood's jaw. The hooded figure fell to the ground in pain.
"You deserve to die! The way I say many others die that night!" said the other figure.
"Yes Daxon," said the other man in the room, now finish him.
'There is no hope,' thought the hooded figure, 'I can go on. I've failed.'
"Don't think like that."
'Who said that,' thought the hooded figure.
"I did." The hooded figure looked up, and there was a formally dressed man kneeling in front of him, "Get up Tryston."
Tryston's hood slid down showing part of his face, 'Derek?', he whispered.
"You're not gonna die here Tryston."
'Derek, I'm so sorry..........you died because of me.'
"No, I didn't die because of you Tryston. You tried to save me. Because that's what you do, what you were born to do, what you've always done. You fight for the greater good. I know I called you a murderer, but you're not. You are a hero. You beat the island, my father. So fight Tryston. Stand up, and fight back."
"What are you waiting for Daxon, kill him." As if on cue, Tryston got up. Battered, bruised, but not beaten, he stood up. He turned around and delivered another series of arrows at Daxon.
"You missed," he retorted when they flew past him
"No, I never miss," said Tryston coldly. With that, Tryston jumped out of a nearby window, and managed to use a zip line arrow to get across to the next building. The arrows he shot before, had hit a large water valve and pressure began to rise.
"Oh no," said Daxon. With that, the valve burst open and water flooded the room. The two figures were instantly swept away. Do to the amount of water pressure on a higher floor, the building began to crumble, but it quickly fell to the ground, and was nothing but rubble. On the other roof of the next building, stood Tryston, bruised but unbroken.
**********************************************************************************************
"I got into a fight," Tryston replied rather quickly.
"Oh my," said Sunset, "What happened?" It seemed like forever for Tryston to answer that question.
"Troubles from my old school when I first got back from the island. I personally think it wasn't a big deal, but you know how parents are." Sunset giggled at his tale. "Anyways, since there was trouble, I had to transfer here."
"Well that must have been interesting," said Sunset.
"You have no idea," replied Tryston. They continued their walk in silence.
"Oh look," said Sunset, "We're here." With that, they proceeded into the cafeteria. After a long wait through the lunch line, the two headed over to their table. Applejack and Rainbow were arm wrestling, Rarity was discussing some fashion tips for their band, Pinkie was being her usual bouncy self, and Fluttershy was still kept to herself. As the two sat down with everyone else, a certain someone happened to walk up.
"Well hello there Rain-Goons."
"What do you want Trixie?" asked Applejack in an annoyed tone of voice.
"Oh, nothing from you, Crablejack," she retorted, "Or any of you Rain-Goons," she turned to Tryston, "I was looking for him."
"Oh, me," said Tryston, "I thought you weren't interested in someone such as myself?"
"That may be, but you seem to be blinded."
"How so?"
"You seem to hang out with these girls a lot."
"I've only been here for two days."
"Well, take it from me, they aren't the kind you wanna be around."
"And I should listen to you, because.............?" Trixie had no other retorts. She just huffed and walked away.
"Well I'll be," said Applejack, "I didn't think you'd be able to get rid of her Tryston, seeing as what happened yesterday and......."
"Yesterday I wasn't in the best of moods," said Tryston, "But now I just want to get on with my day."
"Suit yourself," said Rainbow, "Anyways girls, did you here the news?"
"What news?" asked Pinkie.
"About the new sports sign ups," replied Dash.
"I don't mean to sound rude," said Rarity, "But sports aren't really my thing. If you want to go out and sweat to death, by all means you go right ahead."
"As I was saying," said Rainbow, "Apparently Principle Celestia decided to let the athletic department bring back archery. Now anyone can sign up, boys or girls."
"I assume you'll be signing up then," said Sunset.
"You know it," said Rainbow, "It might not be my thing per say, but I'm still able to do it."
"And I assume you'll make team captain," replied Applejack, "As you do for every other sport." None of the others seemed to notice Tryston's expression uplift.
"Excuse me," he said, "But did you say archery?"
"Yeah," said Rainbow, "Why, you think you'll sign up?"
"Maybe I will," said Tryston, "I mean, you need a lot of arm strength to shoot an arrow, and you need strength to be a lineman in football. I guess they'd go hand in hand."
"There's a lot more than just arm strength in archery," said Rainbow.
"I know," said Tryston, "You also have to aim the bow at the target."
"Now lets not just sit here and talk about sports all day," Rarity interjected, "There's something that happened last night that you all seem to have forgotten."
"And what would that be?" asked Applejack.
"The fact that Tryston has a crush on our Sunset Shimmer," replied Rarity. Everyone stopped talking, and all stared at Tryston.
"Oh yeah!" said Pinkie, a little too loudly, "I almost forgot about that!"
"Pinkie," said Applejack, "Can you please lower the volume."
"Oops, hehehe, sorry AJ." However, Rarity seemed to look at Tryston with a devilish look in her eyes.
"I see," said Tryston, "And what do you plan to do knowing this?" Rarity's smirk grew.
"Well, nothing at the moment, but we'll see." But then, as if out of nowhere, came three figures all to familiar.
"Well well well," said one, "What have we here. The little heroes of Canterlot High, best girls in school, everyone's favorites."
"What do you want Adagio," said Applejack, "If that is your real name."
"It is my real name," said Adagio, "And I couldn't help but notice your new member in the group."
"Firstly," said Tryston, "I'm not a new member. Second, who the heck are you?"
"I am Adagio Dazzle," said Adagio, "And these two are Aria Blaze, and Sonata Dusk." Tryston noticed the two figures behind her. Aria seemed to be annoyed and looking off to the side, and Sonata was looking shyly to the other side.
"We were new students here too," said Aria, "And these girls weren't very kind at all."
"Well, from the sound of things," said Tryston, "You didn't seem kind either."
"They weren't," said Sunset, "They tried to take over this school by making us all go at each other's throats. But, we were able to stop them, with help from a friend."
"I've heard enough," said Tryston, "And what makes you think I'll believe you?"
"Because," said Adagio, "These girls are trouble. No matter what you think, they aren't the kind you should be with." And with that, the three girls walked away.
"Don't listen to what they say Tryston," said Rainbow, "They're the ones you shouldn't be around."
"Oh, I've seen worse than that," said Tryston, "Far worse than you could ever get." Only Sunset knew what he could possibly mean. However, they all remained in silence. Tryston looked around the cafeteria in hopes of avoiding eye contact. Then, he noticed something. A school girl was sitting alone at a table. She had blue skin, red hair, and was dressed in a sea green shirt, jeans, and a green flat cap. The girl seemed to be sad, and alone, with her head down while eating her lunch.
"Who's that?" asked Tryston. All of the girls looked at where Tryston was gazing.
"I don't know," said Rainbow, "But she always sits alone at that table, and never makes eye contact with anyone. I don't know if she wants to be alone or what?"
"Well, have you tried talking to her?" asked Tryston. Rainbow didn't answer. She just looked away in a nervous glance. Tryston said no more, and stood up from where he was sitting and walked over to where this girl was sitting. Once he was over to the table, the girl looked up in surprise. Her red eyes staring back at him.
"Hello," said Tryston. The girl said nothing.
"I'm Tryston Blauvelt. I'm new to this school." Still, nothing.
"What's your name." There still silence until she answered,
"My name is Rose Thespia."
"I'm sorry, what was that?"
"It's Rose Thespia."
"I didn't quite catch that."
"Thespia. Rose Thespia."
"It's nice to meet you Rose Thespia."
"Wait," said Rose, "Did you say, Tryston Blauvelt?"
"Yes, why?"
"I know you. I saw you on the news before I was transferred here. You're the young boy, that grew up and came back from the dead. I can only imagine what it must've been like to be on that island."
"You have no idea. But, I don't really like to talk about it Miss Thespia."
"Of course, I understand. Anyway, you're family is rich. So why are you here, at Canterlot High?"
"No one could take my father's position in the company, so we had to move."
"Well, why did you come over to my table?"
"Because you looked sad. What's wrong?"
"Well, it's just, I don't fit in with others. They all just.....don't seem to like someone like me." Rose then put her head down on the table. She then felt the touch of another on her shoulder. She looked up to see it was Tryston.
"Tell me what happened."
"Well," said Rose, " After the whole Battle of the Bands thing that went on here, I was transferred to this school. The others didn't seem to like me. I was given a tour of the school and all, but after that, no one wanted to talk to me or anything." A small tear came out of her eye.
"I see," said Tryston, "Well, if it helps, I can help you with your problem." This took Rose Thespia by surprise.
"You will?"
"Yes, I will. Now, I need to get back to my table, but it was nice to meet you Rose." Tryston then walked in the other direction.
"Yes, and you too Mr. Blauvelt."
*********************************************************************************************
At the end of the school day, Tryston headed out of the building, and down to where his car was parked. However, when he got there, he saw that all of the girls were standing by it.
"What's up gals?" he asked.
"Well," said Sunset, "We wanted to give you a grand goodbye from your first day of school at CHS. And we know you've got plenty of stuff to do, so, we'll let you be off." She then moved out of the way so he could get to the door.
"It's cause you all think I'm hot don't you?" asked Tryston. In an instant, all of the girls turned a deep shade of red.
"W-w-why would you assume that?" asked Rarity.
"Because you all didn't seem so nice to that other girl," replied Tryston, "Now, I'd better get home. Mother would kill me if I was late." So, the girls stood aside to let Tryston get through. He opened the door, and closed it behind him. They all watched as the car slowly pulled away, and proceeded out onto the open road.
'Well,' thought Tryston, 'Today was certainly one to remember.'
