//-------------------------------------------------------// Sunset Shimmer's New Endeavor -by SweetieWinds13- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Sunset and the New Student //-------------------------------------------------------// Sunset and the New Student Sunset Shimmer was once a stuck up pony who lived in Equestria. But after abandoning Princess Celestia, she used the magic mirror to escape to the human world. But after coming to this new world and trying to use Princess Twilight's crown to take over Equestria, she was shown the light and learned that the magic of friendship is the only magic that can truly unite us all. After the Fall Formal incident, she became a better person, but it took a while for others to see that. After helping to stop the Sirens from taking over the human world, she has regained more respect. Now, many people ask her for help in school and try to become her friend. Of course, the alternate main six(minus Twilight) still are her close friends. Even though she has many new friends, she still isn't friends with everybody in the school, but that isn't her fault. That being that she can't be friends with, and I quote, "a Big mean meanie pants." But that isn't that point of this story. Once, a new student came to CHS, and Sunset now wanted everybody to know she was reformed now. Of course, it doesn't go well, but why you ask, well I'm here to tell you. One bright and shiny day at Canterlot High, Sunset Shimmer had arrived for school. She knew her schedule well and knew how to impress her teachers in all her classes. Before she entered the building, she heard that voice she was used to by now. "HEY SUNSET SHIMMER!!! OVER HERE!!!!" 'That's my cue', thought Sunset. As if by instinct, she hurried over to her friend Pinkie Pie. "Hey Pinkie," she replied, "How are you?" "I've been great," said Pinkie, "I got Gummie the cuuuuuuuutttttiest little top hat for his birthday party coming up." "That's nice. I'm assuming you've invited some people to attend." "Of course. If I didn't, then it wouldn't be a party." "I guess not. Well, who did you decide to invite." "Well Dashie, Applejack, Flutters, and Rarity. I also want to know if you can come. I think Gummie misswwes you." "Of course I'll come. If I didn't, then it wouldn't be a party, now would it?" "Hahaha, I guess not. Anyway, you ready for class today" "Of course. I think English is my best subject besides science thanks to you." The two had also begun to walk to first period. As pointed out, Sunset and Pinkie have the same English class first period. "Oh, it's no trouble, anything for a friend." **************************************************************************************** Pinkie and Sunset arrived in their first period class. As they walked in the door, the teacher (whose name escapes me at the moment, but isn't a big role in this story) called her to her desk. Sunset did as she was asked. "Miss Shimmer, "said the teacher, "I am pleased to tell you that you won't need to be in my class today..." Before Sunset Shimmer could ask why, the teacher explained, "...because Principle Celestia wishes to see you in her office for a moment. She says it will take longer than this period, so you would be here in class today. But do not worry, we are only take notes to get set up for a new book. I will make sure Pinkie Pie will take them for you. Now off to Celestia's before your late." "Yes ma'am," said Sunset, and she set off on her journey. By the time Sunset Shimmer arrived at Principle Celestia's office, it was already 5 minutes into the period. She reached to door and knocked. "Come in," said a voice. Sunset entered the room, and in there was only Principle Celestia behind her desk sorting through some important papers. "You wanted to see me Principle Celestia?" "Yes, Sunset Shimmer. I have something I need you to do for me." Sunset be came a little nervous. "What would that be?" she asked. "I would like you to show a new student around the school for me." "Oh," she replied, expecting something else, "Now, I'm not ungrateful ma'am, but why me. The last time I showed students around, they tried to destroy the balance of this world." Celestia and Sunset laughed at the memory. "I know Miss Shimmer. But, I think this would be your chance to have a redo after the last incident. Plus, I think it would give you a chance to bond with new students. It would also give them the chance to get to know the new you. "Well... alright then. I'll do it." "That a girl," replied Celestia, "He's waiting in the main foyer now. You shouldn't keep him waiting." "Okay ma'am," said Sunset, "I won't let you down." And with that, Sunset Shimmer set off to the main foyer. ***************************************************************************************** Sunset Shimmer arrived at the main foyer. There by the door was the new student. He had brown hair and braces, and was wearing a regular pair of grey sneakers (that would look like a Nike brand) that had red bottoms, a black pair of pants with a brown belt, a white button down shirt, a grey and maroon striped sweater, and a black bow tie. He had a grey backpack and was carrying a green notebook and seemed to be writing something down with a fancy looking pen. 'Wow,' thought Sunset, 'He looks, kinda cute with that bow tie and sweater. Well, might as well introduce myself.' "Hello there," she said as she approached him, "My name is Sunset Shimmer." The new student seemed to jump at the sound of her voice, and almost dropped his notebook. "Oh, hi." he said in a low voice. "What's your name?" asked Sunset cheerfully. "Um, my name is Blauvelt. Tryston Blauvelt," he replied quietly. "Well Tryston, it's nice to meet you." "It's, um, nice to meet you too." "I like your bow tie and your sweater." "Thank you. I like your... jacket." "Why thank you. I got this at one of the best clothing stores, but that's besides the point. I'm here to show you around the school so you can get to know the school when you start classes." "That's very nice of you." "Oh, it's no trouble. It's a special request from Principle Celestia herself. Lets get going." "Okay." So the two started walking down the hall, and Tryston started making some marks in his notebook. "If you don't mind me asking," said Sunset, "What's that?" Tryston looked over to her. "Oh, this is just a book I use to draw in. Drawing is like my favorite pass time in school. It helps me let my inner artist come out." "Well, that's interesting. You don't mind if I could see one, do you?" "Well...okay, but only if you keep it between us." "Of course." So Tryston flipped through the notebook and found an image. Sunset was surprised. https://camo.derpicdn.net/e24b50f8a5f8de6a4ede8539042cad6c88e06c0c?url=http%3A%2F%2Ffc08.deviantart.net%2Ffs71%2Ff%2F2013%2F221%2F4%2F4%2Fthomas_and_friends_sheet_5_by_tobyandmavisforever-d6h6fxy.png "Cool. What are these trains suppose to represent?" she asked. "Well," said Tryston, "They are my version of them from a tv show..." he started to blush a little,"... they're, narrow gauge steam trains." Tryston's face was now a bright shade of red. Sunset knew of only one tv show with trains like the ones on the page. "Wait a minute, you still watch Thomas the train?" asked Sunset in a low voice. "Well," said Tryston, "In a matter of speaking, yes. Please don't laugh at me." Tryston was all prepared for insults to be thrown his way, but none came. "Well, aren't you gonna laugh at me and call me a baby?" he asked. "No, actually, one of my friends babysits for her boss's twins who watch it too. She has gotten into it too. One time, she even dressed as one of the characters for Halloween..." Sunset chuckled at the memory, "It was quite entertaining." Now, Sunset had gotten a good look at his fisique and noticed how squared his shoulders were and he seemed to have a little upper body strength. "I must ask," she said, "Do you do sports." "Well, yes," replied Tryston, "I play football. And before you ask, I'm a lineman. I make sure the opponents can't get through." "Well, no wonder you have a strong build." "Well, thank you." "Anyway," said Sunset Shimmer, "Upcoming is the..." And she continued to show Tryston around, she noticed most of the time he was silent. He would comment about the various rooms and other things around the school, but that was it. Now, because the school was so big, they had went through at least 4 periods. By the bell that separated 4th and 5th period, the tour was already half over, and this was the free periods Sunset had before lunch. "Well, the tour is halfway over now," said Sunset to Tryston, "Would you like to hang out with me and my friends until after lunch?" "I'd like to," said Tryston, "but I'm not sure your friends would like to have me around. No group I've known in my life has every wanted me around." "Oh, I'm sure they will. They're the best group of friends you could ask for. Sure, we may not all agree at times, but we all remain friends no matter what. Come on." So Sunset grabbed his hand and dragged him through the hall to music room where the band equipment was set up. Rainbow Dash and Applejack were already there getting ready. "Hey Sunset Shimmer," said Rainbow Dash, "Who's the new guy?" "Oh," said Sunset, "This is Tryston. Principle Celestia wanted me to show him around the school before he starts tomorrow. He also does football." "Oh does he," said Rainbow walking over to him and holding out her hand to shake, "Nice to meet you. Name's Rainbow Dash." Tryston took her hand in for a handshake. He had seen this trick all through his life. Dash went to give his hand a squeeze to cause a little pain, for fun of course. However she used all her force, and nothing. Tryston gave a small squeeze, and Rainbow was on the floor. "Wow," said Applejack. Soon enough, Rainbow got up. "That was impressive," she said, "How did you do that." "I squeezed your hand," replied Tryston, turning a little red. "Well howdy there Tryston. I'm Applejack. Nice bow tie." "Thanks. So, you have a band?" "Yep, " said Dash, "The band is called The Rainboom's. We still have unaccounted members though. Where are they?" "Fluttershy and Pinkie are helping rarity with something," said Applejack, "Don't know what though." As if on cue, the three came racing into the room. Rarity was pulling a mobile clothes rack, Pinkie was carrying a basket, and Fluttershy was dragging another clothes rack. "Hey guys," said Rainbow, "What's with the racks Rarity?" "Oh," said Rarity, "I've brought some new outfits we could try for our band." 'Typical Rarity,'thought Applejack. "I think this one would be perfect for you Applejack," said Rarity taking one of the bags containing the outfit, walking over and handing it to Applejack, oblivious to Tryston in the room next to Sunset, scribbling another drawing. "Why Sunset Shimmer," she said, "Who's your friend?" "Oh," said Sunset, "This is Tryston. He's a new student Celestia wants me to show around the school." "Well, Tryston," said Rarity holding out her hand, making Tryston shooting up at the mention of his name, "It's nice to meet you, my name is Rarity Belle." Tryston took Rarity's in for a shake, being a lot lighter than the squeeze he had given Rainbow. "It's nice to meet you too," replied Tryston in a low pitch of voice, "My name is Blauvelt, Tryston Blauvelt." "Tryston Blauvelt huh?" asked Rarity, "You wouldn't happen to be related to a Mr. William Blauvelt, would you." Tryston seemed hesitant to answer. "William Blauvelt," he said, "Was my father..." he then had a flashback of various images from his past that weren't very good, "But... he pasted away...several years ago." "Oh," said Rarity, "I am very sorry to hear that. William Blauvelt and my father were good friends." "There is no need to be sorry," replied Tryston, "But, thank you anyway. Even though it was years ago, and I've moved on from it, it's still not a nice topic to bring up." Meanwhile, Pinkie had been giving invitations out to everyone in the room. She then walked over to Rarity and Sunset and gave them theirs. However, she seemed to have an extra one. "Whoops," she said, "I must have set the copier for 6 copies instead of 5." She then noticed Tryston was the only one without one. "Hey Sunset," she said, "Who's your friend?" "This is Tryston," said Sunset, "Principle Celestia wants me to show him around the school before he starts tomorrow." Pinkie, by nature, jumped over to Tryston and gave him a big hug. "NicetomeetyouMynameisPinkiepie.Areyounewtotheschool.Wellofcourseyouare,otherwiseyouwouldn'thaveatour.Ifyournewthenyoumustnothaveanyfriends.Andifyoudon'thaveanyfriendsyoumustbesosadandneedapartytocheeryouup.Here,youcancometoGummie's3rdbirthday." said Pinkie in her usual welcome speech(minus the Gummie's birthday part), and she handed the invite to Tryston. He gratefully took the invite and quickly skimmed it. "Thank you," said Tryston quietly. "Anyway," said Dash, "I think we should start practice." "Which song should we do first?" asked Fluttershy. Pinkie whispered something in Dash's ear. "Good choice," said Dash looking towards Tryston, "And what better, we have an audience." So they all got their equipment set up, and the song began. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDxzoVlmtuI) Tryston was amazed by how well they played, especially Sunset Shimmer. Once the song ended, Tryston was clapping so hard his hands that they would catch fire. "Thank you, thank you," said Pinkie. "That was great!" exclaimed Tryston, "Did you come up with that yourselves?" "Well..." said Fluttershy. "Yes," interrupted Rainbow abruptly, "Lets do another." So they whole double-period was spent practicing songs and showing off their skills to Tryston. No one but Sunset Shimmer noticed he seemed to be drawing something in his notebook. No sooner than the last song ended, that the bell rang. "That's our exit cue," said Applejack, "Lunch time." "Actually," said Sunset, "I was wondering if Tryston could join us today." "Why sure," said Applejack. "Fine by me," added Rainbow Dash. "Why of course," said Rarity, "It would be nice to have a new member joining us today. "That's okay with me too," said Fluttershy in a low pitch of voice. "That would be great!" exclaimed Pinkie. "Then it's settled," said Sunset Shimmer. So after all the equipment was cleaned up, they all set off, Tryston following behind at a good distance. Tryston then started walking slower, just to take in the sight of the school. "It is a beautiful building, isn't it?" said a voice. Tryston turned around to see a formally dressed man wearing a bowler hat. "Yes it is," replied Tryston, "Do you know it well?" "Well enough. I'm the principle of Canterlot Intermediate School. I'm Percival, Peregrine Percival." "It's nice to meet you. I'm... Tryston Blauvelt." "I know who you are. You're the young man who came back from the dead. It must have been awful for you on that island." "It was. But I really don't like to talk about it Mr. Percival." "Of course, forgive me. I understand. Now, I would like to chat some more, but I have to meet with Principle Celestia about something important. It was nice meeting you Mr. Blauvelt." Then Peregrine left. "Yes," said Tryston quietly. He then began to have another flashback, of a book his father gave him that had a list of names, and Mr. Percival's on it, "And you as well." "Come on Tryston!" called Pinkie Pie, "You don't wanna miss lunch." "I'm coming," replied Tryston, dashing down the hallway to catch up. ************************************************************************************************* Tryston and Sunset Shimmer were in the lunch line. Sunset was telling Tryston about her past life while they were grabbing the food placed. She was almost to the part when she took the crown from Twilight and turned into an evil raging she-demon, when they reached the end of the line and headed to the table. The others were waiting for them. "Hey guys," said Dash. Throughout lunch, the six girls were having their regular lunch discussions of the day. Tryston remained mostly silent, a little to silent for the rest of the group. After Tryston was done eating, he took his tray over to the drop off area. After he left, Sunset started to discuss something with the rest of the group. "He seems a little too...mute," she said. "Oh hush now girl," said Applejack, "He's probably getting used to this new school." "I agree," added Rarity, "He has moved from another city. He may still be getting used to everything here." "I'm sure he'll come around in time," added Dash, "With friends like us, I'm sure he'll come around in at least a week." After that final word, Tryston had came back to the table and sat down. He grabbed his pen and his notebook. "I like your pen Tryston," said Rarity. "It's a pencil," replied Tryston, not even looking up. "Well, your bow tie is nice," said Fluttershy. "Thanks," said Tryston, again not raising his head, "Bow ties are cool." Rarity giggled at his comment. Applejack raised an eyebrow to her and it made her blush and fondle with her curls. Tryston of course, didn't notice. "Ooooohhh, whatya drawing?" asked Pinkie. "Something personal," replied Tryston, not taking his eyes off the piece of art he was about to create. Tryston didn't know what he was drawing either, but knew it was gonna be great. Soon, a shock came to the table. "Why hello there Rain-goons." "Go away Trixie," said Applejack, "We were actually trying to enjoy our day, thank you." "Oh Applejack," said Trixie, "I'm not here for you six, I'm here for the new kid." This time Tryston raised his head and turned around. "Oh yeah," he said, "What do you want?!" "I'm just gonna warn you, these six have a whole other side that only those at this school know. You won't be safe with them." "Sounds like my kind of people," retorted Tryston. "Not really. There is a lot you don't know." "I don't care. Right now, they seem better than you." "Oh don't be too judgmental. They aren't what they seem." "So..." "Well, um..." "Exactly, you can't even come up with another comeback. I win." "Win what? With that stupid bow tie, you wouldn't be able to accomplish anything in life, minus looking dumb." "Whatever. Your insults are dry and not worth my time, so just go crawl back to the nearest whole in the ground." "Ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh," said Dash, "He got you Trixie." "Oh yeah," said Trixie, taking Tryston's notebook and looked at it. "No!" yelled Tryston, standing up, "Give that back! That's the last thing my mom bought me before leaving for Manhattan!" Trixie ignored him, and instead showed the picture to the whole table. It was a non-colored version of this:https://camo.derpicdn.net/65da33615dba9bff41f059ed4d3a983c056e3890?url=http%3A%2F%2Fth09.deviantart.net%2Ffs70%2FPRE%2Fi%2F2013%2F274%2F7%2Fb%2Fsunset_shimmer_vector_2_by_victoriathekitty-d6oswfo.png Everyone was surprised. Sunset Shimmer even blushed a little. Tryston flopped back down in his seat and slammed his head down on the table. Rainbow had seen enough. She stood up and walked toward Trixie. "Now what the hell was that for!?!?!?" she shouted. "Well excuse me!" said Trixie, "He was really annoying me." "There was still no reason for that Trixie! Now, give me the book!" "You're not my mother." "That wasn't a question." Trixie could the fury in her eyes, so she rolled her own and gave Rainbow the book. "Now I want you get away from this table. If I see you anywhere near this table before the end of the period, I will personally see to it you stop forever." Trixie just huffed and walked away. When Dash looked back at the table, she put the book down by Tryston and saw that Pinkie and Fluttershy were making sure he was okay. There was a long silence. At last, after 5 minutes, the bell rang. Tryston had woken up, but was still loopy. "Sunset, you should look after him. He still has a tour you need to complete." "Okay," replied Sunset. So Sunset propped him on her shoulders and helped him and his stuff out of the Cafeteria. *************************************************************************************************** "Wake up Tryston. Come on, wake up. Thata boy." Tryston had taken a bad hit to the head, and made him unconscious. When he woke up, he saw that he was on the floor in the hallway, with Sunset Shimmer right in front of him. Tryston almost jumped. "It's okay," said Sunset, "I'm not gonna hurt you." Tryston remembered the scene that happened in the Cafeteria. "I'm sorry for what I did," he said. "It's okay," said Sunset, "After looking at it for a while, I thought it was kind of... sweet." "You did?" "Yeah. But, I have to ask, why draw me?" "Well, it's just that you're the first girl I've met at this school, and you were so nice to me, and your so pretty. So, I decided to make a picture for you to repay you." Sunset's face turned red, especially after he said she was pretty. She then showed a big smile. "You didn't have to do that Tryston." "But I wanted to." "Alright then, how about after school, I take you to the park. There's something I think you'd like to see." "Okay, that sounds like fun." "Yes, but for now, shall we continue with the tour?" "Lead the way." Tryston got up and followed Sunset Shimmer for the rest of the tour. Author's Note Okay, thank you for reading this chapter of this story. I wanted to try and create a story that circles around Sunset Shimmer's newly reformed character and Tryston. Now, please understand that this is my first story, so please leave comments on what I can to improve the next chapters. I'm uncertain how many there will be though. And please, no rude language. Thank you for your time. //-------------------------------------------------------// The New Path //-------------------------------------------------------// The New Path 'My name is Tryston Blauvelt. For four years I was stranded on a deserted island with only one goal..... Survive. Now that I've been brought back to civilization with only one goal, to save my country. But in order to do this, I can't be the killer I once was. To honor my friend's memory, I must become someone else. I must become, something else.' Sunset Shimmer and Tryston were outside the school talking about what had happened in their past lives. "Okay," said Sunset, "Your turn to tell me. What happened in your life before you came here?" Tryston thought for a moment, "I'd rather not say." "Oh come on. I'm sure it's not as bad as my past." "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." "During the fall formal, I turned into a raging-she-demon. I'm sure I will." "Well, it's not nice for me to talk about it. But if you promise to only keep it between us." "Of course." "Okay... Well, my father used to be the C.T.O. for a research company, which made our family rich. About four years ago, my father decided to take me to travel to China on our private yate for a business trip, so I could see how his job worked if I had to take over. My current girlfriend Bella wanted to come as well, since she was a little obsessive over me. However, our ship crashed for an unknown reason near the coast of one of the islands. In the crash, a section of the stern broke off, and Bella and I happened to be there. The blow threw her through the gap and threw her into the water. I tried to save her, but it was already too late. After the crash, my father and I took refuge on one of the rafts. I was able to paddle the raft to an island, and we took refuge there. My father however, died a few days after we reached the island. I was devastated. After four years, I was able to light a warning flair to a helicopter that was returning from a rescue, and I was taken back to society. I sustained severe scarring all over my body, a high raise in blood presser and wasn't civilized after that. Now, with no one in my family to replace my father, they had to give up their rich lifestyle and settle for regular, low paying jobs. I vowed that I would live on for my father. However, my mother got a new job here that pays more than her old one, which happens to be here, so... here I am." Sunset was amazed by the story. Tryston's had seemed worse than what she tried to do. She didn't know what to do, so she just pulled him in for a big embrace. Tryston was quite taken aback by the gesture, but he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her in closer. He could hear sniffles from her, and muttering things like, "I'm sorry" and, "You didn't deserve it." "It's okay," said Tryston, "I'm fine now." He pulled Sunset out of the hug to stare in his eyes, "I promise I'll be fine." Sunset showed a smile. She then wiped the tears from her eyes. "Now," said Tryston, "Shall we?" "I thought you'd never ask." So the two continued on their way. Unknown to both of them, there happened to be a certain group of friends watching them from the side of the building. ************************************************************************************************************ Sunset had showed Tryston to the entrance of the city park. "This," she said, "Is one of the oldest parks in the city. Not another one of the parks is able to match this beautiful scenery." Tryston noticed the beautiful sights of the park. There were very tall trees, many flowers, and green grass as far as the eyes can see. "Wow," he said, "This is beautiful! Much more than that of my old home." Sunset laughed at his comment. "So, what do you want to do first?" "Whatever you want to." "Okay, lets start off by taking a walk down the path." So they did. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZQfuAuZc8A) As they walked along, Tryston began to hear an old song in his mind. One he hadn't heard since Bella died. As they walked, he asked about what else happened during the beginning of the year. She explained all they had been through. Tryston laughed at funny moments, and cringed at bad ones. Eventually, Sunset asked that question. "So, what are you doing now a days?" Tryston soon had more memories flooding his mind. One in the dark, in an old warehouse with the book. Also of making a dark blue outfit. "I've been pretty much trying to settle into normal life after the island. My mom was able to get a much better job by working for a branch of a company in Canterlot City." "That's great," Sunset then noticed the bright sky and the fluffy white clouds, "I wish I could just lie here and watch these clouds." Tryston then put his bag down, opened it, and pulled out a rolled up light green blanket, big enough for two people. "Two questions; Why do you have a blanket in your bag, and how did that fit in there?" "Firstly, my bag isn't that crowded. Second, it was the first thing my mother gave me since I've been back. It's special to me." "Well, that was nice of her." "It was," said Tryston spreading the blanket. When he was done, he lied down himself and patted the spot next to him. Sunset accepted the gesture and lied right next to him. The two of them watched the clouds roll by. "There's a fish," said Tryston "And there's a dolphin." The two continued for several minutes. Sunset continued to scoot closer to Tryston, and soon went as far as to wrap her arms around his abdomen. Tryston noticed this and was surprised. He looked down and saw her nervous expression, but gave a smile, and wrapped an arm around her too. The next shape they saw was this. (http://www.kadinruhu.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/heart-shaped-cloud.jpg) Sunset began to blush, then looked to Tryston, who was noticing another cloud. Sunset, without thinking, started to snuggle against his chest. Tryston saw what she was doing, and his fingers began to wonder through her curls. They remained like this for a while, until a strong breeze picked up. Then a dark grey cloud came over. "Looks like rain," said Tryston, "Better get going." The two separated and grabbed their stuff. "You don't mind if I stay with you for a while?" asked Sunset. "Of course," said Tryston, "My mom doesn't get back until eight-thirty. My sister is in college, so I've got the place all to myself." "Excellent. Maybe, we could... snuggle some more?" "That would be lovely," Tryston began to blush. "You know, Pinkie is having a sleep over tonight at 7, wanna come?" "I would love to!" Just then, it started to rain a little. "Better get moving if you wanna get back to my house," said Tryston. So the two began to race to the house before the rain picked up. ************************************************************************************************* The two soon arrived at house of Tryston. Sunset was amazed. For a family that lost all luxury, the house seemed very clean. It was a tall green building. It had big windows, and a massive porch. "This is your house?" asked Sunset. "Yep." "I thought it would be... smaller." "Yeah. I thought you'd say that." Tryston walked up the stairs of the porch and over to the door. He put his bag down, unzipped it, and took out a key. He zipped his bag back up, grabbed it by the top handle, and brought the key to the door. Putting in the slot, and turning sideways, the door opened. "There we go," he said, "Now, shall we?" Tryston stood aside to let Sunset enter. She was surprised. The house seemed bigger on the inside. Tryston closed the door behind them and locked it. "It's not much," he said, "But it's home. This house may be small, but it's a cozy little dream." "I can see. In all honesty, I wasn't expecting this house to be so... upscale, for such a small house." Tryston nodded. He completely understood. "Honestly, this place still has a lot to get done. Just be thankful you don't have to see my mother's room. That has a lot of repairs needed." Sunset just giggled. "Anyway, you gave me a tour, allow me to return the favor." So Tryston set his bag by the stairs. Sunset did the same. So Tryston gave Sunset a tour of the lower floor of the house. Eventually, the two ended up back in the living room. "So," said Sunset, "What now?" Tryston flopped onto one end of the couch, and patted the other cushion. Sunset too sat down on the cushion. She was surprised at how comfortable it was. "I'm surprised," she said, "I wasn't expecting all this." "I know," replied Tryston, "But you haven't seen the upstairs yet. I don't wanna risk your eyes burning." Sunset giggled at the remark. She then scooted closer to Tryston, and lay her head on his chest. "Sorry if this is awkward," she said, "After all, we just met, today no less." Tryston just put his arm around her side. "Not really," he said, "I was stranded on an island for four years. Away from society, and friends. There was only me. No one else. Now, I'm glad I can share happiness with you." Sunset didn't know what to say. All she could do was make a blushed smile. "Anyway, wanna watch tv," asked Tryston. "Sure." So Tryston reached over and grabbed the remote that was on the end of the couch, and started flipping through the channels. Eventually, he ended up in the show they both wanted to watch: The Big Bang Theory. "Oh," said Sunset, "I remember this one." "You watch this?" "That a problem?" "No. I've always wanted to meet someone with similar interests." "Me too." So the two sat there in that moment snuggled up by the tv. However, Sunset lost track of time, and fell asleep in Tryston's chest. Tryston however, didn't. He had a lot on his mind. 'I realize I've told her too much about the island, but she hopefully will never find out the whole truth. As long as she's under my protection, no harm will come to her or her friends. Now, just have to explain it to Jack.' Then Tryston looked at the clock. 'Oh well, that can wait. First things first.' Tryston then nudged Sunset on the shoulder. "Wakie wakie Sunset," he said quietly, but to no avail. He tried again, again it didn't work. He then tilt his chest down, and Sunset shot right up. 'Works every time,' thought Tryston. "Sorry," said Sunset blushing hard, "Did I miss something?" All Tryston did was point at the clock. Sunset froze in place. 6:00 pm. "Oh my gosh," she said, "I fell asleep, didn't I?" "Yep," replied Tryston, "Don't worry. I'll just get some of my stuff around, and we can go if you want." "Okay. Fine by me." So Tryston went up the stairs to grab a few essentials; a change of clothes, pajamas, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste. He then went back downstairs to get the blanket, his pencil and notebook out of his bag, and saw Sunset curled up on the couch. She sat up and saw Tryston. "You look like you have something big weighing on your mind Sunset," said Tryston. "Yes," she replied, "I do." "Don't suppose you wanna talk about it." Sunset sighed. She knew she could trust Tryston. "Tryston," she said, "People always say nothing is impossible... Do you believe that?" "Hmm... That's a deep question Sunset. I suppose I would say, if nothing were impossible, then it would be impossible for something to be impossible. Something possible only goes so far, so there must be some things that are never meant to be." "And what if there was something that you thought was impossible, but it turns out, you can actually do it?" "Hmm," said Tryston, "I'm not quite sure what you mean Sunset." "Suppose that... you know something is going to happen, and you supposedly don't have any power over it. And you may have the chance to change it, but you're not sure if you really do or not. Should you, take the opportunity?" "Well... I suppose that would depend a lot on the circumstance. One should always try to change the things they can for the better. That being said... there are some things in which we were never meant to interfere. Things that go far beyond our own power. What sparked all these philosophical questions from you anyway, Sunset?" "I'd rather not say exactly. It's a bit of a personal matter." "Well, in that case, the best advice I can give you, is to do whatever you feel to be right in your heart." Sunset managed a bright smile. "Thanks Tryston. I'll keep that in mind." "Now enough chit-chat. Lets get going." So Sunset stood up, grabbed her stuff, and headed out the door. However, she didn't notice Tryston's hesitance. 'Do whatever you feel to be right in your heart.' **************************************************************************************************** "Anywhere specific ya need to stop first?" asked Tryston. "Yes," said Sunset, "If you could just drop me off at my house first. I promised Pinkie I would bring something for her." "Fine by me," then Tryston started the car ignition, and pulled it out the driveway. As they drove through town, they had to stop at a red light. "You wanna listen to the radio?" he asked. "Sure," replied Sunset. Then Tryston clicked the start button for the radio. As he did, the station that was on said, "...And now it's time for those of you out there to show your more... wild side." And the song played. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXMpBsuCuiw) "Oh my god," said Sunset. "What?" asked Tryston. "It's just, my step-brother listens to this all the time. He always tries to annoy me with this song because of the fact me and Flash dated." "Who's Flash?" "Flash Century is just your average rock-star, lead guitarist in his band and a total jerk. I have no idea what I saw in him anyway. So, I always get teased because of this stupid song just because..." "I get it. I've been in that situation before too. Man, this light is taking forever." "You have. What happened." Tryston's memory soon became flooded with memories. One of a girl on the island and him... him and a girl from a warehouse... "I'd rather not say." "Oh, okay then. Hey, the light changed." "Thank god." So Tryston pressed his foot against the gas peddle, and the car was gone. But they were unaware of three student at the cafe by the stop light. "Did you see that," said one of them. "No," said another, "I was just watching Sunset and that new guy. They'd make a cute couple." "You idiot! That's what I was speaking of Sonata." "Oh stop it Aria," said the third, "What Sunset Shimmer does in her life doesn't matter to us." "But something seemed weird about him Adagio," said Aria, "I can feel it." "Now Aria," replied Adagio, "Leave Sunset and her new boyfriend go. Her life doesn't concern us anymore." And with that, Aria didn't say another word on the matter. ******************************************************************************************************* Soon, Tryston's car came to a stop at a yellow house. "Here we are," said Sunset, "I'll be right out." She left her bag in the car, and opened the door. She stepped out of the car and closed the door behind her. She then walked up to the house, opened the door and stepped inside, closing the door behind her. It took a while for her to find what she was looking for, so Tryston began thinking to himself. 'What was I thinking, telling her about the island. Well, at least she doesn't know about what happened there. I just hope she doesn't find out. What will happen when the Arrow turns up and I'm not with them. She doesn't need to know right now. Her life is going smoother now; I can't do that to her. I need to find a way to associate with Sunset and her friends, and stop Peregrine. But the question is, how?' As if on cue, Sunset came through the door of the house, and back to the car. After opening the back door, Tryston could see she was carrying a big duflle bag. "If you don't mind," she asked. Tryston simply nodded, allowing her to set her bag in the back seat. She closed the door and went to the door of the passenger seat in the front. She opened it, sat down, and closed the door, but not without putting her seat belt on. Tryston backed the car out of the driveway, and continued down the road. Eventually, they arrived at a big pink house. "That's Pinkie's over there," said Sunset. "I can't imagine how," said Tryston sarcastically. Sunset giggled at his remark. Tryston pulled into the driveway and put the car in park. He took his key out of the ignition, and stepped out the car. Sunset did the same. Tryston walked over to the car and took his bag out of the trunk; Sunset grabbed her stuff from the backseat. Sunset seemed to be struggling a little carrying it, so Tryston walked over and slung the bag over his shoulder. "How can you carry that?" asked Sunset." "Being stranded on a deserted island can have an effect on people," said Tryston, "Promise me you won't tell anyone else." "I already promised." "I know, just making sure." And with that, Tryston continued along. Sunset followed him. 'There's something he's not telling me,' she thought, 'And I'm gonna find it out.' Tryston just continued to walk along. 'This is easy, even without being on the island. I guess she's suspicious now. Oh well, just gotta make sure she doesn't know the rest.' Eventually, Sunset got ahead of Tryston and walked up the stairs to the porch. She then went over to the door and rang the bell. Almost instantly, the door was answered by... Maud. "Oh hey Sunset," she said in her monotone voice, "I expect you're here for Pinkie's slumber party." "You know it Maud," replied Sunset. Then Maud noticed Tryston carrying the bags behind Sunset. "Who are you?" she asked. "I'm Tryston Blauvelt," said Tryston, "I just moved in a few days ago. It's nice to meet you. I'd shake your hand, but mine are full." Maud just stared at him blankly. Finally she said, "That was hilarious. .... I like your bow tie." "Thanks. Bow ties are cool." (oh like you didn't see that coming.) "Anyway," said Maud, "Come on in," She then stood aside to let them in, "Pinkie and Rarity are upstairs in case you want to see them." "Thank you Maud," said Sunset, "Now I'd better go see Pinkie. We have something to discuss." And with that, Sunset exited the room, leaving Tryston and Maud alone. "Well," said Tryston putting the bags down, "It's nice to meet you Maud." He then held out his hand for a shake. However she grabbed his wrist almost instantly. She then pulled him into her gaze which by Tryston's perspective was like something out of a horror movie. "I know who you are Tryston Blauvelt," she said, "And I half agree with what you do in your free time." Tryston froze in place. "How did you find out?" asked Tryston in a timid tone of voice. "I have my ways. I won't let anyone else know, but you will promise not to involve me, or my sister. She doesn't have to know about what you do. Understand?" "Fully." After that, Tryston turned and picked up the bags. He found the staircase, and escalated up them in a swift motion. Once all the way up the stairs, he noticed many doors in the hallway, one cracked open. He walked over towards the door and peered through. Inside, he saw two figures with Sunset Shimmer. Both he recognized. He then pulled away and knocked on the door. "Come innnnnnn," said a bubbly voice from inside. Tryston entered the room to find Pinkie and Rarity on the bed playing a card game, with Sunset standing next to them. "Hello Tryston," said Rarity, "You're a few minutes early." "I try," said Tryston, "The question is, where is everyone else?" "They'll show up eventually," said Sunset, "Rainbow Dash and Applejack are usually late. That's just them." "And Fluttershy is going to be late for a winter animal awareness fund," said Pinkie, "However, we'll still be able to have loads of fun!" She threw her arms out when she said that. "Okay then," said Tryston setting Sunset's bag by the door. "Is that what I think it is?" asked Pinkie. Sunset walked over and unzipped the bag and pulled out one of these. (http://www.healthylivingdirect.com/attachments/images/a6f3c1c8-a0f1-4083-959a-14bd4727f3f8_1_13739_1.jpg) "It is!" exclaimed Pinkie. "Why do you need one of those?" asked Tryston. He didn't have to wait long. Pinkie immediately jumped off the bed, went over and grabbed the cane, and stood by the bed, in one motion. "Are you serious!?" she exclaimed, "Do you know how many things you can do with these?" She posed with it like someone at a fancy party. "I see," said Tryston, "Well, I should get changed. I like this outfit, but it can get uncomfortable." "Okay then," said Pinkie, "The bathroom is just through there." She pointed to the door for emphasis. "Thanks." Then Tryston walked over to the door, turned the knob and opened it. He then entered through the door and closed it behind him. 'Oh boy,' thought Tryston, 'This is going to be a long night.' He removed his bow tie from his shirt. 'How did Maud even know my secret? That's one mystery to be solved in the future.' He then looked at his reflection in the mirror. 'Look at me. I can't be doing this again. Oh well, what's done is done.' He then undid his belt and let it fall to the floor. He unzipped his bag and grabbed his sleepwear. He quickly changed pants, and undid the buttons on his shirt. He took that off and pulled his other shirt over his upper body. 'There,' he said to himself, 'That's much better.' He looked at his reflection again, 'Whelp, lets hope they like it.' He then threw his other clothes back in the bag and zipped it up. He lifted it above the ground and headed for the door. He opened it, and went out to face the others. ************************************************************************************************ The time on the clock read 7:30 pm. By this time, everyone had shown up. Applejack and Rainbow Dash were playing some racing game on the game console, Pinkie was on her laptop, and Rarity was showing Fluttershy and Sunset her new designs. Tryston remained in the corner drawing in his notebook. Eventually, Pinkie called everyone into a circle. They all did as asked. "Alright-y," she said, "Here's what we've all been waiting for. Truth-or-Dare." 'Oh no,' thought Tryston. "Alright, Rainbow, it's your turn first." "All right," said Rainbow Dash, "Um... Applejack, Truth or Dare?" "Dare" "I dare you to..." Dash thought for a moment, "Aha, I dare you to dance like a ballerina." "You've got to be kidding me," replied Applejack, "Eh, fine." For about a good few seconds, the group watched as Applejack danced around like a little ballerina. When she was done, she sat back down in the circle. "There, satisfied?" "Very," said Rainbow, however she couldn't contain her laughter. "Grr, alright, Rarity, Truth or Dare." "Truth," said Rarity almost instantly. "Alright... um, what's your guilty pleasure?" "I beg your pardon," said Rarity. "You heard me," said Applejack. "Oh, fine. It's..." And everyone continued going around the circle, except for Tryston. Eventually, Sunset's turn came around. "Finally," said Sunset. 'Now I can get him to tell me what's going on with him.' "Tryston, Truth or Dare?" However, Tryston had a gut feeling. "Dare." 'Crap. Wait.' "I dare you, to tell me the truth about what's going on in your mind. There was something you weren't telling me earlier when we were talking, what was it?" Everyone else responded by saying, "Ooooooooh." Tryston though long and hard about this. Sunset seemed to have him in a trap. "I would rather not say. It would be something to discuss in private rather than with a whole group here." "Whatever you have to say, you can say to all of us." "Fine. The truth is still unknown to me. In the upper city, you have rich, ignorant people. They don't care about what they do or who they hurt. All they want is money, by any means. My mother had to get a low paying job because no one in our family could replace my father after he passed away. His best friend, Mr. Belle, didn't come to his funeral because of some stupid argument they had. My life seems like it's getting off to a good start now. My mom was able to get a well paying job here, and I've made so many new friends. This seems a little fast, but..." Then he went over to Sunset and held her hand in his. This resulted in so many different expressions from the others in the room. "...Sunset Shimmer. You were the little spark that broke my shell that formed when my dad died. It seems fast, but... I think I love you." After hearing that, everyone in the room was in a state of silence. Even Sunset Shimmer herself didn't know what to say. Her mind was racing with so many thoughts that it was faster than light. No one knew what to say after that, not even Pinkie. For the rest of the night, Tryston didn't speak to anyone. 'Well,' he thought that night before sleeping, 'I told her. Now she may be at great danger. If I go to far in without looking, I can easily hit the rock hard. But, I am the best archer known to this city, so I guess it doesn't matter. What does is stopping Peregrine. Whatever is going on has to do with him, he is on the list after all. Well, tomorrow, I'll have to figure more out about it. Until then, I'd better go to sleep. The hard part is explaining to Jack and Smith where I've been all night. I'll deal with them tomorrow.' And with that, Tryston could finally drift off to sleep, but was unaware of the events to come. Author's Note Thank you for reading this. Sorry this chapter took so long to get out. So good-bye for now, and thank you for reading. //-------------------------------------------------------// The Next Day //-------------------------------------------------------// The Next Day The sun rose high over the little city of Canterlot. In this small city rested a pink house that consisted of many girls who had a sleep over, one boy involved too. Tryston slowly opened his eyes to the glory of the morning sun shining through the window. He figured he shouldn't have slept so close to it, but he couldn't sleep anywhere else since the incident the night before. 'Oh well,' he thought, 'Now's as good a time as any.' So he got up from his little spot on the floor, quietly snug out into the hallway with his stuff(surprisingly not tripping over anyone), and got down the stairs. Once he was, he shoved all his things into his duffle bag. He threw the bag onto his back and headed for the door. Just as he was, a strong smell flew by his nostril. He was walking past the kitchen doorway, and noticed a figure inside. 'Whelp, better go see what's going on.' So Tryston entered the kitchen, to find Sunset over the stove. She heard him walk into the room and turned around. "Oh, hey Tryston," she said, "Funny running into you here," she then looked off to the side, "In fact I've had a past of bumping into people here." "Interesting. Listen, I'm sorry for what I said last night. It's just..." "You don't have to be sorry. I can see it must have been horrible on that island. You weren't able to tell me something simple, not knowing how people would react. I can't pretend to understand how that feels, but I can understand the pain. I can understand the dark things you do in your life. However, there are always those who will stand by you. I can be one of those people." She then took both of her hands and wrapped them around one of his. "Sunset," said Tryston. "Yes." "I was hoping we could talk about this later, somewhere with just the two of us." "You mean....like a date?" said Sunset, putting emphasis on the last word. "If you want." "I would love to," Sunset was getting close to Tryston's face, "Just when?" "Well, can I get back to you on that?" "Of course," said Sunset with half lidded eyes. She then let go and turned back to the stove, "You staying for breakfast?" "I'd love to. But I have to get going. I have to meet with an old friend." "Oh, okay. See you later." With that, Tryston smiled and left the room. Sunset could hear the door close on his way out of the house. Sunset the finished cooking her breakfast, she walked into the living room. She took hold of the remote and clicked the power button. As usual, the channel that appeared was food network. Sunset simply dialed the buttons on the remote, and the channel changed to the local news, where the two anchors had just finished a report. "Thanks Stacy, for that wonderful review," said the male anchor. Sunset just rolled her eyes, and was about to change the station when: "In other news, the Queen Consolidated Advanced Sciences Department, in Canterlot, was just robbed late last night. We now go live to our field reporter Megan Durrett, who is currently on the scene." The screen on the show then went to the scene of the crime. A young looking blond haired girl stood in front of the screen with a microphone. "Thanks Frank. As you guys can see behind me, the police are doing a search of the building to find out exactly what the crooks were looking for. So far, they haven't found anything, but will continue with the search. Also, as you can see, no major damage was done to the building, which means they most likely..." "Boring," said Sunset, "What else is on?" She then clicked on the remote buttons to bring her to the morning cartoons. ********************************************************************************************** Tryston had drove his car down to a little diner in Canterlot. Once he parked it, he got out, walked to the door, and stepped inside. Scoping the area of the diner, he could see there were quite a few people still in their pajamas. However, he was only looking for one particular individual. He could see the very figure wave him over to a table in a secluded part of the diner. Tryston simply walked of to where this figure was. When he reached this secluded area, he could clearly recognize this figure. He was male, had thick black hair, and was wearing formal attire. "Well you've certainly taken your time getting here, " said the male figure. "Sorry Jack," replied Tryston, "Had a little....business to take care of." Then he sat down in his set, followed by Jack on the other side. "Oh really, what kind of business?" Jack seemed to have a devilish smirk on his face after saying that last word. "Don't misinterpret that. I was in school yesterday for a tour before my first day, principle's request. Anyway, the girl who showed me around wanted me to hang out with her friends. She also wanted to have me over for one of their sleep overs." "Oh god Tryston. You keep doing this, you know what will just continue." "You think I don't know that Jack? I was only accepting a request from a girl who wanted to help a new student on his first day. And....something else happened." "Oh boy, here we go." "I have no idea why, but this girl, Trixie is what they called her, came over to our table. She tried to harass me, but to no avail. Then, she took my sketchbook, as I like to call it. I......made a scene over it, and the girls had to settle it." "Oh boy Tryston, you can't get obsessive over that." "I know but......it was the fact that it was the last thing my mom gave me before she left. You know, for that big trip in Manhattan." "I know, but I really don't think we should be messing with this High School." "Well, do you have a better cover plan?" "Actually...." "That was rhetorical." "Right, sorry." "Anyway, we have bigger things to deal with than that." "Such as.....?" "The real reason I decided we come here. Do you know Peregrine Percival?" "You mean the principle of the intermediate school?" "Yes. Jack....."Tryston paused dramatically, "He's on the list." Jack was in the middle of drinking his apple juice he ordered, but then started to choke on it after Tryston said that. Finally, after many coughs and hacks, he spoke up. "The list?! You mean that thing your father gave you? I thought you said we were putting that behind us." "I know, but this is important. Did you see it on the news? Someone tried to steal from Queen Consolidated. And every name on that list, had a reason to be on it. I recognized his name at school yesterday, long story. Then the robbery happens. You can't tell me that's a coincidence." "Okay, maybe you have a point. But how do we stop him? We can't just throw the Arrow into this." "Do you have any better ideas?" "None on the fly, but anything is better than you in that hood. Oh, I forgot to mention, I spoke to the doctors. They said those braces of yours should be coming off in a few days." "Thanks Jack. These things have been a hassle for a while now." "Well just try not to let enemies punch you in the mouth." "Whatever Jack. I hope the day is soon. The sooner these are off, the sooner we can get back in the field." "Like I said, just a few days. At most, Thursday." "Okay, cause I still need to arrange something with someone." ************************************************************************************************ Sunset Shimmer was in a more cheerful mood than usual at school that day. She went through all of her morning classes with a little extra spunk than usual. Tryston however, even though he had started today, wasn't in any of her classes so far. She only had to wait until lunch, when they'd see each other again. Of course there was the free period they had before lunch. Anyway, as the bell to fourth period finally ended, Sunset made a mad dash for the band room. Of course, when she arrived, Rainbow and Applejack were already there. "Whoa there girl!" said Applejack, "What's the rush?" "Sorry," replied Sunset, with a slight blush on her face, "Just, um......" "Don't even try any excuses Sunset," said Rainbow, "I know what it is." A smirk grew on her face. They all remembered the night before. "You do?" asked Sunset with a quizzical and anxious expression. "Of course I do," replied Rainbow, "In fact, it's really quite obvious." "What's quite obvious?" called a voice. 'Oh no,' thought Sunset, 'Please don't be....' Through the doors came Rarity. "Well Rarity," started Rainbow, "It just so happens that our Sunset has a crush." "Oh, is that so? How ever did you figure it out?" she asked sarcastically. "Trust me, I can tell these things just from people's actions and expressions. And I have a feeling I know who it is." Rainbow's smirk grew wider now. "Oh, do tell," replied Rarity. "I think it's........" "It's no one!" claimed Sunset, covering Rainbow's mouth with her hand. Rainbow grabbed Sunset's arm with hers and pulled her hand off of her face. "You know, I was only joking with you," she said. "Oh," said Sunset, now realizing her error , "Sorry about that." Her face was now bright red too. "I might reconsider that thought though," said Rainbow. Rarity gave a devilish smirk towards Sunset, "Well," she said, "Is it true then Sunset?" Sunset Shimmer sighed. She had been caught. "Yes," she said, "It's true." The whole room went silent. Even after Pinkie and Fluttershy arrived, no one barely said a word to each other. Throughout most of the period, they didn't speak. Until finally, Pinkie spoke up. "What's with all this silence?" she asked, "Usually practice is so lively at this time. But it doesn't seem so now." The others looked at each other. They had to admit, it did seem a little wrong being so quiet. "You're right Pinkie," said Applejack, "Lets do something to lighten things up." As if on cue, Tryston entered the room. "Hey guys," he said, "What's up?" Everyone remained silent. Sunset's facial expression seemed to brighten up at noticing Tryston. However, this didn't go unnoticed by a certain, rainbow haired guitar player. "Oh, Hey Tryston!" exclaimed Pinkie, "Nice to see you again." "Nice to see all of you too," replied Tryston, "But I thought you guys were a band." "And what's that suppose to mean?" asked Applejack, giving Tryston a glare. Tryston just glared right back. "Well, yesterday I heard music from a mile away. Just curious as to why it's so silent." "It won't be for long," said Rainbow, "Come on guys, lets rock!" So they did. They somehow got out of an unknown mood trance, and played their music. Throughout most of the songs they played, Sunset kept eyeing Tryston. This didn't go unnoticed by other members of the band. Eventually, the music died down, as the bell rang for lunch. "That's our exit cue," said Dash, "Time to pack up." After a few moments to tighty up the area, the group soon left for lunch. Sunset however, stayed behind, as did Tryston. But this was because he had to pack up his notebook and other school related stuff from his other classes that day. "Tryston," said Sunset. "Yeah?" asked Tryston, turning his head from his bag. "I need to tell you something. Well, more along the lines of discussing. About our date." A small blush came across Sunset's face. "Oh," replied Tryston, "Well, what did you wanna discuss?" "It's just..............I won't be able to go on that date until next Friday. I hope you don't mind." "Oh, no, I don't mind at all. It's totally fine." "Okay, thank you!" Sunset lunged at Tryston and brought him into a tight embrace, "Thank you so much!" Sunset then realized what she just did, and pulled back, "Oh, I'm sorry." "No need to be sorry," replied Tryston, "On an unrelated note, sometime this week I'll be getting these braces off." "Oh cool," said Sunset. Then the two started their journey down to the cafeteria, "But if I may ask, why did you need those in the first place?" At the very mention of that, Tryston soon zoned into the world only he knew. ************************************************************************************************* "You'll never escape this time. My men have heard all about you, and we've studied all your most signature moves." Inside of an abandoned warehouse, a tall gentleman stood wearing a thick black trench coat, and carrying a gun sling at his side. In front of this man, stood a figure in a dark blue hood, a dark blue jump suit, boots, and had an arrow pack across his back (no pun intended). He also was wearing a mask under his hood and had a bow with an arrow pointed directly to the other man. "Yet," said the figure, his voice seemingly very deep, "You always manage to screw up and I end up escaping." "Not this time. Grey Skull! Stab! Get him!" Suddenly, two men advanced from the shadows. The masked figure in the hood shot two arrows. One for each of the two, which in a split second pinned them against the wall. The hooded figure then turned to the other figure. "I came for you, not your mindless slaves," he said. "Very well then, I'll play your game," said the other figure, "But lets see if you can defend yourself against my new partner." As if out of nowhere, and on cue, another figure appeared. He was dressed in a pitch black jump suit and a blue mask, "I believe you two have met before." The hooded figure raised his bow and an arrow to the other figure, "You don't need to do this." "Yes I do! I remember you trying to kill me last year, in Mr. Merlin's office during that event!" "I'm sorry for what I did, but that version of me is long gone by now. We don't need to fight." "It's too late now! I'll kill you!" The figure then charged at the hooded one. However, he was able to evade the man and charge at him for the advance. *Insert fighting scene here*. But, no matter how many arrows this, hood guy shot, the other man just pulled them out like they were splinters. He then lay a massive punch right in the hood's jaw. The hooded figure fell to the ground in pain. "You deserve to die! The way I say many others die that night!" said the other figure. "Yes Daxon," said the other man in the room, now finish him. 'There is no hope,' thought the hooded figure, 'I can go on. I've failed.' "Don't think like that." 'Who said that,' thought the hooded figure. "I did." The hooded figure looked up, and there was a formally dressed man kneeling in front of him, "Get up Tryston." Tryston's hood slid down showing part of his face, 'Derek?', he whispered. "You're not gonna die here Tryston." 'Derek, I'm so sorry..........you died because of me.' "No, I didn't die because of you Tryston. You tried to save me. Because that's what you do, what you were born to do, what you've always done. You fight for the greater good. I know I called you a murderer, but you're not. You are a hero. You beat the island, my father. So fight Tryston. Stand up, and fight back." "What are you waiting for Daxon, kill him." As if on cue, Tryston got up. Battered, bruised, but not beaten, he stood up. He turned around and delivered another series of arrows at Daxon. "You missed," he retorted when they flew past him "No, I never miss," said Tryston coldly. With that, Tryston jumped out of a nearby window, and managed to use a zip line arrow to get across to the next building. The arrows he shot before, had hit a large water valve and pressure began to rise. "Oh no," said Daxon. With that, the valve burst open and water flooded the room. The two figures were instantly swept away. Do to the amount of water pressure on a higher floor, the building began to crumble, but it quickly fell to the ground, and was nothing but rubble. On the other roof of the next building, stood Tryston, bruised but unbroken. ********************************************************************************************** "I got into a fight," Tryston replied rather quickly. "Oh my," said Sunset, "What happened?" It seemed like forever for Tryston to answer that question. "Troubles from my old school when I first got back from the island. I personally think it wasn't a big deal, but you know how parents are." Sunset giggled at his tale. "Anyways, since there was trouble, I had to transfer here." "Well that must have been interesting," said Sunset. "You have no idea," replied Tryston. They continued their walk in silence. "Oh look," said Sunset, "We're here." With that, they proceeded into the cafeteria. After a long wait through the lunch line, the two headed over to their table. Applejack and Rainbow were arm wrestling, Rarity was discussing some fashion tips for their band, Pinkie was being her usual bouncy self, and Fluttershy was still kept to herself. As the two sat down with everyone else, a certain someone happened to walk up. "Well hello there Rain-Goons." "What do you want Trixie?" asked Applejack in an annoyed tone of voice. "Oh, nothing from you, Crablejack," she retorted, "Or any of you Rain-Goons," she turned to Tryston, "I was looking for him." "Oh, me," said Tryston, "I thought you weren't interested in someone such as myself?" "That may be, but you seem to be blinded." "How so?" "You seem to hang out with these girls a lot." "I've only been here for two days." "Well, take it from me, they aren't the kind you wanna be around." "And I should listen to you, because.............?" Trixie had no other retorts. She just huffed and walked away. "Well I'll be," said Applejack, "I didn't think you'd be able to get rid of her Tryston, seeing as what happened yesterday and......." "Yesterday I wasn't in the best of moods," said Tryston, "But now I just want to get on with my day." "Suit yourself," said Rainbow, "Anyways girls, did you here the news?" "What news?" asked Pinkie. "About the new sports sign ups," replied Dash. "I don't mean to sound rude," said Rarity, "But sports aren't really my thing. If you want to go out and sweat to death, by all means you go right ahead." "As I was saying," said Rainbow, "Apparently Principle Celestia decided to let the athletic department bring back archery. Now anyone can sign up, boys or girls." "I assume you'll be signing up then," said Sunset. "You know it," said Rainbow, "It might not be my thing per say, but I'm still able to do it." "And I assume you'll make team captain," replied Applejack, "As you do for every other sport." None of the others seemed to notice Tryston's expression uplift. "Excuse me," he said, "But did you say archery?" "Yeah," said Rainbow, "Why, you think you'll sign up?" "Maybe I will," said Tryston, "I mean, you need a lot of arm strength to shoot an arrow, and you need strength to be a lineman in football. I guess they'd go hand in hand." "There's a lot more than just arm strength in archery," said Rainbow. "I know," said Tryston, "You also have to aim the bow at the target." "Now lets not just sit here and talk about sports all day," Rarity interjected, "There's something that happened last night that you all seem to have forgotten." "And what would that be?" asked Applejack. "The fact that Tryston has a crush on our Sunset Shimmer," replied Rarity. Everyone stopped talking, and all stared at Tryston. "Oh yeah!" said Pinkie, a little too loudly, "I almost forgot about that!" "Pinkie," said Applejack, "Can you please lower the volume." "Oops, hehehe, sorry AJ." However, Rarity seemed to look at Tryston with a devilish look in her eyes. "I see," said Tryston, "And what do you plan to do knowing this?" Rarity's smirk grew. "Well, nothing at the moment, but we'll see." But then, as if out of nowhere, came three figures all to familiar. "Well well well," said one, "What have we here. The little heroes of Canterlot High, best girls in school, everyone's favorites." "What do you want Adagio," said Applejack, "If that is your real name." "It is my real name," said Adagio, "And I couldn't help but notice your new member in the group." "Firstly," said Tryston, "I'm not a new member. Second, who the heck are you?" "I am Adagio Dazzle," said Adagio, "And these two are Aria Blaze, and Sonata Dusk." Tryston noticed the two figures behind her. Aria seemed to be annoyed and looking off to the side, and Sonata was looking shyly to the other side. "We were new students here too," said Aria, "And these girls weren't very kind at all." "Well, from the sound of things," said Tryston, "You didn't seem kind either." "They weren't," said Sunset, "They tried to take over this school by making us all go at each other's throats. But, we were able to stop them, with help from a friend." "I've heard enough," said Tryston, "And what makes you think I'll believe you?" "Because," said Adagio, "These girls are trouble. No matter what you think, they aren't the kind you should be with." And with that, the three girls walked away. "Don't listen to what they say Tryston," said Rainbow, "They're the ones you shouldn't be around." "Oh, I've seen worse than that," said Tryston, "Far worse than you could ever get." Only Sunset knew what he could possibly mean. However, they all remained in silence. Tryston looked around the cafeteria in hopes of avoiding eye contact. Then, he noticed something. A school girl was sitting alone at a table. She had blue skin, red hair, and was dressed in a sea green shirt, jeans, and a green flat cap. The girl seemed to be sad, and alone, with her head down while eating her lunch. "Who's that?" asked Tryston. All of the girls looked at where Tryston was gazing. "I don't know," said Rainbow, "But she always sits alone at that table, and never makes eye contact with anyone. I don't know if she wants to be alone or what?" "Well, have you tried talking to her?" asked Tryston. Rainbow didn't answer. She just looked away in a nervous glance. Tryston said no more, and stood up from where he was sitting and walked over to where this girl was sitting. Once he was over to the table, the girl looked up in surprise. Her red eyes staring back at him. "Hello," said Tryston. The girl said nothing. "I'm Tryston Blauvelt. I'm new to this school." Still, nothing. "What's your name." There still silence until she answered, "My name is Rose Thespia." "I'm sorry, what was that?" "It's Rose Thespia." "I didn't quite catch that." "Thespia. Rose Thespia." "It's nice to meet you Rose Thespia." "Wait," said Rose, "Did you say, Tryston Blauvelt?" "Yes, why?" "I know you. I saw you on the news before I was transferred here. You're the young boy, that grew up and came back from the dead. I can only imagine what it must've been like to be on that island." "You have no idea. But, I don't really like to talk about it Miss Thespia." "Of course, I understand. Anyway, you're family is rich. So why are you here, at Canterlot High?" "No one could take my father's position in the company, so we had to move." "Well, why did you come over to my table?" "Because you looked sad. What's wrong?" "Well, it's just, I don't fit in with others. They all just.....don't seem to like someone like me." Rose then put her head down on the table. She then felt the touch of another on her shoulder. She looked up to see it was Tryston. "Tell me what happened." "Well," said Rose, " After the whole Battle of the Bands thing that went on here, I was transferred to this school. The others didn't seem to like me. I was given a tour of the school and all, but after that, no one wanted to talk to me or anything." A small tear came out of her eye. "I see," said Tryston, "Well, if it helps, I can help you with your problem." This took Rose Thespia by surprise. "You will?" "Yes, I will. Now, I need to get back to my table, but it was nice to meet you Rose." Tryston then walked in the other direction. "Yes, and you too Mr. Blauvelt." ********************************************************************************************* At the end of the school day, Tryston headed out of the building, and down to where his car was parked. However, when he got there, he saw that all of the girls were standing by it. "What's up gals?" he asked. "Well," said Sunset, "We wanted to give you a grand goodbye from your first day of school at CHS. And we know you've got plenty of stuff to do, so, we'll let you be off." She then moved out of the way so he could get to the door. "It's cause you all think I'm hot don't you?" asked Tryston. In an instant, all of the girls turned a deep shade of red. "W-w-why would you assume that?" asked Rarity. "Because you all didn't seem so nice to that other girl," replied Tryston, "Now, I'd better get home. Mother would kill me if I was late." So, the girls stood aside to let Tryston get through. He opened the door, and closed it behind him. They all watched as the car slowly pulled away, and proceeded out onto the open road. 'Well,' thought Tryston, 'Today was certainly one to remember.' Author's Note Hey guys, as promised, here's the next chapter. Sorry it took so long to finish, because I've had a lot to do with my time. But, I managed to get this for you guys. I'm unsure when the next chapter will come out, but I hope soon. It's summer for me and my goal is to get chapter 5 out. See you guys later. //-------------------------------------------------------// The Arrow's of Mystery //-------------------------------------------------------// The Arrow's of Mystery "This is Canterlot Radio, 93.1, the number one hit music station in your area! Here to keep you comfort all afternoon." As the sound of the radio hummed through his car, Tryston Blauvelt continued his journey to his house. The radio pumped out many ridiculous sounds of music that all the world had heard before. But, tonight, it wouldn't be just listening to music. Tryston finally made his way to the house. It was a positive thing that his mother and sister had gotten out of the city, because they wouldn't believe what he was doing in the soon to be upstairs hallway. As he pulled his car into the driveway, there was another car on the other side of it. Tryston had seen this car many times before, and knew who it belonged to. The color of jet black, kinda gave it away. He stepped out of his car, and walked along the path to the house. Once through the door, he proceeded up the stairs into the main hallway. There, stood quite the site. There were a series of computers everywhere, a manikin wearing the blue outfit from his flashback, and weapons on the walls as far as the eyes could see. In the center, hung a bow, and many arrows. There were two figures waiting for him. One, was Jack, from the diner. The other had aqua-marine hair, matching eyes, a turquoise under dress, and a white dress over it, with a tennis ball on it. She also wore light blue fashion boots. "Well," said Jack, "Look who decided to show up." "I'm not in the mood for games Jack," said Tryston, "I've got enough going on as it is." "Oh really?" said the other figure, a smirk on her face, "Is getting friendly with girls at school really what you should be doing right now?" Tryston was almost frozen in place, "How in the hell do you know about that Tennis Match?" "You really think you were the only one who knew about that conversation? Me and my friends were there too, and we saw it. I mean, we were sitting right by you." "So........." said Jack, "What's with all of this now? Tryston, you know you shouldn't be doing these kinds of things." "Well I can't help it Jack," retorted Tryston, "I didn't want to see someone who's lost all hope. I just needed to give her a boost." "But now she's gonna think you'll be there," said Jack, "Which normally isn't a bad thing, but it's worse knowing what we do at night." "I can find a balance between it," said Tryston, "Just be thankful you're old enough to be out of school Jack." "I am," replied Jack, "Because I don't need to worry about graduating. Anyways, what's the plan for tonight?" "Well," said Tryston, "According to that handbook my father gave me, there's a name that belongs to someone now in Canterlot City...." "Yeah yeah," said Jack, "Peregrine Percival. He's on the list, and involved with that heist where they stole those components from the Advanced Sciences Department in Silver City. Why does that matter?" "Because," said blue haired girl, pulling up multiple files on the computer, "According to other documents, many other science labs, scrap yards, and other places have been robbed of some rare parts. They were able to identify the gang, except one member in a bowler hat." "Percival," said Tryston, "And it all leads back to one question, why?" "Don't know," said Tennis Match, "But according to news records, they estimate another heist will take place, tonight, at the tech department in Canterlot Mall." "I'm on it," said Tryston, grabbing the bow off of its rack. But then, he felt a nudge on his shoulder. "You're not going without backup," said Jack. Tryston stared long and hard at Jack, until finally he said, "Alright. But lets go." After a few minutes, Tryston came out through a door dressed in dark blue leather, and had a clip on hood, and an arrow pack and bow on his back, as well as spikes on his wrist. Plus gloves, boots, and a black mask. "Come on Jack," said Tryston, "Lets go shopping." ******************************************************************************** It was but a cold and quiet evening outside Canterlot Mall. Many of the city's citizens were inside the building during possibly one of the biggest Christmas deals ever! This particular mall hadn't had quite the event of Christmas shoppers arriving after Halloween, in year. But not all was going to be jolly this evening. Rarity had invited Sunset Shimmer for a night of shopping. She of course invited all of her friends, but they had other plans. Pinkie was babysitting for her boss's twins, Applejack had chores on the farm, and Fluttershy volunteered to help at the animal shelter. Rainbow Dash, of course, straight up when she said that "Shopping late at night when you can get serious lounging time is pointless." So, this being as it was, Sunset and Rarity would be the only ones in the group to partake in this fun night. "Thank you ever so much for accompanying me daring," Rarity said, "I don't know what I'd do if I had to go shopping all by myself." "It's no trouble Rarity," replied Sunset, "Just happy I get to spend some time with one of my best friends. Plus, I barely have the chance to get out of the house on my own anymore, let alone outside of school." "Of course, believe me I understand dear. Well, where shall we begin this glorious night of fun? Jewelry Box, Fashion Fresh, Build a Stuffie!" "Actually," said Sunset, "I was hoping we could hit Shoe Surplex. There were these pair of heels I saw in a magazine I was just dying for!" "Oh but of course darling. Let's go!" So, the night of "fun" began. While browsing around the wide selection of shoes they had to see in order to find the heels from Sunset's magazine, Rarity eyed her and gave one of her devilish smirks. "What's with the look?" asked Sunset, while trying a pair of the heels on. "Oh nothing," Rarity replied, trying hard to stifle a few giggles, "Just thinking about what happened last night between you and that Tryston fellow. I say, he is quite the handsome one." "Oh....that," replied Sunset, "I agree, so what?" "What do you mean 'so what?'! He willingly admitted he loved you after only knowing you for one day. I say, it tis true love at first site!..." she then cupped her hands to her heart, "You're a lucky girl, to have him run to you. Snatch him up while you can; I can already hear the wedding bells." "Pump the breaks a little Rarity. I've seen guys like him before. They act all lovey dovey and that it's love at first site or whatever, but it's panic for hiding something. Usually embarrassment." "Oh Sunset, you know nothing about the art of l'amoure. It is such a wonderful thing darling! You must appreciate the special opportunities like these while you have them." "Look, how about we just finish in here, and go to the next store." "Suit yourself dear, but remember what I said" After the two cashed out, they began walking down the massive halls of the mall. As they did, so it happened. Out of the jewelry store, stormed out five masked figures in black armor, all of them armed with large assault rifles! They ran down the halls, shooting wildly! Police surrounded the area, aiming at the masked figures. However, this proved to be fruitless, as one of the masked figures aimed his rifle and there was a loud bang! While the constant wildfire of weaponry commenced in the middle of the storefront, Rarity and Sunset made a mad dash away from the display. Despite this, from around the corner appeared two more figures in masked, dressed from head to foot in black leathery armor. From their sides, they slung out their pistols and started firing erratically at them! Sunset forcefully shoved Rarity out of the way of the gunfire, and they bravely trudged through the crowds of petrified passers. Suddenly, a loud crash could be heard from the ceiling! As glass had shattered from the roof, and a large figure landed on the ground below. As it rose before the two females, they stood motionless, hardly daring to trudge any further. Unlike the last masked figures, this one appeared differently. For one thing, she was clearly female, as evident by the slender figure and microscopic waist lining. Another key feature was that there were a pair of breasts that were clearly there, under the leather cloth of the outfit. The outfit itself was also twinkling with sparkles all around the front of the shirt. The figure also was wearing feminine style of black knee high boots. Sunset began to pull Rarity backwards as the notably feminine figure raised what appeared to be a metal crowbar from behind her back. Another slender figure stepped out from behind her and raised a large blowtorch, as the other began to back them up against the wall. But from out of nowhere, a lone motorcycle was blaring down the center of the hall! A masked, hooded figure in dark blue leather-like material rode atop of the cycle, and awe strikingly stood up while in transit. Across the back of said figure, lay a quiver with several arrows inside it, and behind that, a black custom recurve bow. The figure pulled both the bow, and two arrows from the quiver. Once slung in the bow, the masked archer fired the arrows in an elegant fashion, causing them to sore through the air, and dispense two large nets. Both of which, landed on both masked intruders, and kept them to the floor. The hooded figure then slid back down to the motorcycle, and pulled it to a stop, as more masked men began closing in on them! The hooded figure fired several arrows from his bow. While some seemed to affect them, some seemed to have no effect. One figure stood out from them all. Most notably because he didn't have a mask on. "Ha! You missed!" he shouted. "Did I?" questioned the hooded figure, as they all turned to the walls behind the men where he shot, and there appeared to be a blinking chamber on the tip of the shaft. After blinking rapidly, the arrows spontaneously released a large amount of foggy gas. This in turn, created a thick layer of fog around the men, so they couldn't see. The hooded figure strode in from where Sunset and Rarity were standing, and within moments, the fog disbanded. Once in full view, all masked men were on the floor, seemingly unconscious. The hooded figure turned to where his nets were, and noticed that the feminine figures were gone! He then ran to his motorcycle, as the sound of police sirens echoed down the hallway. Sunset stood in awe, as the sight of the hooded figure sat atop his ride, and revved the engine loudly. He then proceeded to speed off down the hall, and out of sight, as the sound of the sirens became apparently closer. ********************************************************************************* Within the span of an hour, the police had brought everyone in for questioning. The masked figures were facing series of charges towards the crime almost committed. A couple officers were talking with Sunset and Rarity, as they had large grey blankets wrapped around them. "And that's all you saw?" asked the officer. "Yes sir," Sunset responded, "And it was the weirdest thing......I felt like I've seen that figure before....." Within moments, another officer arrived on the scene. "Captain, sir!" he exclaimed, "The sketch artist drew this off the one witness' description of this 'hooded figure.' If i didn't know better, I'd say this is the same guy they're after in Silver City." He handed the drawing to the police captain, who so happened to be in the room. "Well I'll be damned...." Captain responded, "If I didn't know better, I'd say that's the man calling himself 'The Arrow.' And he's in our city...." He then waved his hand over a dozen nearby officers. They all scattered around, eventually making it out the doors. "I want this lunatic out of my city, do you hear me men?!" They all saluted him, as they made their exit. They soon allow both Sunset and Rarity to leave the station, and they begin walking home. "That was something, wasn't it Rares?" asked Sunset, in a slightly upbeat tone of voice. "Yes.....very interesting to say the least....." she replied. "Something wrong?" "Not something.....someone......That hooded man......felt so familiar.......that facial structure.......that muscular body....." "What was that?" "Nothing!!" Rarity shouted, rather loudly. Her face blushes madly. Sunset burst out laughing, and Rarity shortly followed. "How about we go to my house tonight?" said Sunset, "I can make us some hot chocolate, and we can watch something on my TV?" Rarity smiled at the suggestion, "Sure Sunset. That sounds like fun." They link arms, and start walking off into the distance. ******************************************************************************** Inside the upstairs hallway of Tryston's residence, the same blue haired female stood pacing back and forth. Within a few moments, both Tryston and Jack came through the window. "Oh thank god!" cried the girl, "You nearly gave me a heart attack when the coms went out." "That's probably because of the tumbles and turns," replied Tryston, "Crime isn't always easy Tennis Match, especially in these days. But I'll try to be careful next time." "You'd better," she retorted, "You think those things grow on trees?" She turned around and sat back at the computer, "So was tonight a success?" "Indeed," said Jack, "We also got a look at the thugs face." Tennis Match's hands started moving like rapid fire across the keyboard. Until one face flashed across the screen, Tryston stopped her. "Stop! Go back a couple." As she does so, he points out whom he saw, "That's him." "Record says his name is Clyde Martin," said Match, "Started out from a family of criminals. Parents died in police shootout, and he was left with his brother Mark. They've both had a track record of robberies and petty thefts, dating far back as the last ten years." "Makes sense," Jack interjected, "Whoever hired them obviously wanted them to take the blame. But the question is, who was it who arranged this?" "That's the million dollar question," said Tryston. He turned to Tennis Match, "I noticed something else strange at the scene.......there were a couple of these figures who looked......feminine. They were going to attack Sunset and Rarity, so I shot them with those netting arrows you made. But after the fog set in, thanks again for those arrows, I saw they managed to get away. I know we've encountered female enemies before, but not in this tech trail we've been following. All the masked thieves we've encountered in this city so far, have been male. Why would they choose to task two females on a heist such as this." Match starts typing rapidly again, "Wait.......of course.........they were expecting you to show up." "What do you mean?" "They were the ones who escaped, like you said. However, every other one got arrested at the mall. So, they must've planned on you not using regular arrows on a female, and also made sure you weren't prepared for feminine deception. Whatever they wanted to steal must've been on them somehow when you contained them, and they managed to escape the netting to take back to the kingpin." "Damn girl," said Jack, "You're a freaking genius." "I am majoring in Computer Sciences and cyber security after all. Just because I like tennis, doesn't mean I don't like other things." "Yes, your smart," replied Tryston, "That's been well established. But what exactly was stolen from this mall tonight?" "According to their report made to the police, nothing notable, except for one thing from Tech World. The latest Pone phone; Universe 9+. Nothing else was stolen from that mall when they entered." "So why attack the mall?" After a few flashes pass by on the screen, a city map is pulled up, with a red dot blinking over the county prison. "It looks like....." said Match, "Steel Walls, Federal Penitentiary, was broken into from underground. One prisoner was reported missing, and with a large hole in his cell going to the sewars. Prisoner's name......Clark Milverton." "So this was all a misdirect," said Jack, "Whoever wants all this tech wants this Milverton guy out of prison." "And Percival being in this city too," added Tryston, "This can't be a coincidence." "I still am wrapping my head around this," said Tennis Match, "I mean, Peregrine Percival. He was the principle of the elementary school when I was there, and he never seemed like he'd hurt anyone. He has a wife, and three children......there's no way he could possibly......" "We'll find that all out tomorrow," interrupted Tryston, "It's really late, and we have school tomorrow. Why don't you guys go on home? Anything happens, I'm on call. I don't sleep much as it is." "Alright then," said Match, as she headed down the stairs. Jack was near the stairs, but was still facing Tryston. "Tryston," said Jack, "I know how you are with that list. You feel like you're making up for your father's sins. But you can't go after everyone on that list, and you know you can't. There are more ways to help fight crime than crossing out names." He turns around, and walks down the stairs. Tryston just stands there in the hall, before turning back to the computer. A picture of Percival pulled up on the screen, with a somewhat smirk-ish expression. "What are you hiding Peregrine," he uttered, "what's your end game......."
