The Main Dilemma

Why do the cops always ruin the fun?

This and many other questions surrounded my brain as I sank as best I could into the cold, hard plastic of the back of a police cruiser.

My mother was not going to be impressed. My mother is known fairly well in the town. Nurse Redheart was my mom. My father had left before I was born and my mom refused to talk to me about it. The only thing I had to know him by were his genes. This included my teal fur and dark brown mane and tail. I got my sparkling sky blue eyes from my mom. My name is Soul Solace, after my lack of crying while I was born. This changed slowly as I grew older, becoming more and more reckless like my father, yet I still maintained the ability to calm everything down in an instant. When I was in elementary school, I managed to stop a huge fight between 5 other stallions within 32 seconds. My cutie mark appeared on my flank shortly thereafter. A musical note that sat atop a red cross. My mom was so proud that I had she had rubbed off on me.

Anyways, what was the best graduation party on the face of the planet, thrown by recent graduate Pinkie Pie of course, had slowly escalated to the point where Vinyl Scratch had a little too much of the spiked punch and made half the neighborhood go deaf. The cops showed up and I vaguely remember walking up to one of the cops and putting my hand on his shoulder. I then remember a searing pain in my side and losing control of most of my muscles. In short, I got tased and crumpled like my legs were grape jelly.

I heard a faint female voice talking to the officers outside. It may have been muffled, but I knew who it was. It was the girl I had a crush on since 9th grade. Scootaloo. She was extraordinarily pretty. Shoulder length purple hair, average size wings, C-cup breasts, flat stomach showing from the sports bra she called a “track top”. Her shorts barely covered her butt, which was very impressive in its own regard, toned and not to mention pretty sizable. Scootaloo could be a diva or a model if she wanted to be but she preferred sports more that dresses. I had been her best bud for 4 years now. Beside her stood her 2 friends, Applebloom and Sweetie Belle. Sweetie Belle and I hit it off almost instantly, Applebloom however was a more complicated matter. She thought I was only befriending Scoots to get into her pants. I had tried to convince her otherwise, yet it never seemed to end well.

*Flashback*

I heard sobbing coming from a nearby locker. It sounded like a girl. I was concerned that something bad had happened.

My mind tried to drag me away.

No use in getting in someone else’s business!

I tried to find the source of the tears and tracked it to the inside of a locker.

Locker No. 327

Upperclassmen had used this locker to shove colts and fillies in for years since no one used it at all. Now no one used it for this very reason. Luckily for me and whoever was inside, I knew the correct combination thanks to my friend Gearhead, a whiz mechanic with the mind of Danny Ocean.

I turned the lock and heard the latch click as I lifted it. The sobbing stopped for a brief moment as I opened the locker door, shedding light on the beautiful mare in front of me.

“You ok?” I asked her, offering my hand to her.

“Uh, yeah, I think so.” She sniffled.

She took my hand.

“Wanna bounce? I know a great spot out in the woods nearby?” I said

She looked at me, not sure whether or not to trust me.

Shit, too creepy?

“Maybe the track?” I asked, taking her to be the athletic type like myself when I looked her over.

She cracked a small smile and followed me outside, making sure to avoid any teachers, especially Ms. Cheerilee, who gave detentions in a heartbeat. When we reached the track, she pointed to a hole in the steel covered bleachers and ducked under them. I followed her.

Finding her in the darkness, she pulled out her phone and turned on the flashlight app.

“I didn’t catch your name?” I asked her.

“Scootaloo. You?” She replied.

“Soul Solace, but most ponies just call me Soul.” I said, “What happened back there?”

“Some assholes called me a dyke bitch and told me no stallion would ever love me, then they shoved me into that locker.” She said, beginning to sob again.

I wrapped my arms around her and she cried into my shoulder.

“It’s ok. I get it.” I whispered

“You do?” She asked, looking up.

“Yeah, just because I can calm ponies down doesn’t mean they won’t stop being assholes.” I said.

“You seem really cool for a stallion Soul. The kind of stallion that most mares dream of having.” She said, wiping tears from her eyes.

“Aw well, I dunno about that....” I blushed

“Hey, wanna hang out sometime? I think my friends Applebloom and Sweetie Belle would really like you!” She practically pleaded.

“I have no plans so I don’t see why not Scootaloo.” I said.

“Please, just call me Scoots” She smiled.

*Present Day*

The cruiser's door opened and I was pulled out and uncuffed. Still a little woozy and intoxicated, I went over to Scootaloo.

“Thanks Scoots. What would I do without you?” I groaned.

“Rot in a cold jail cell until your mom bailed you out.” She said, slugging me on the arm.

“How did you do it?”I asked, rubbing my arm.

“Simple, she told them you just wanted a hug.” Sweetie Belle giggled.

“Whatever, as long as I’m not in jail.” I said.

“We better walk to my house. I’d rather not have you get arrested for DUI. It’s just down the street, you can pick your car up in the morning.” She said, patting me on the back.

After saying goodbye to Applebloom and Sweetie Belle, Scoots and I slowly walked our way down the street, the streetlamps buzzing faintly as we passed them. We stumbled into her house to a terrible sight. We were greeted at the door by the one person we hoped not to run into that night. Scootaloo’s father, Rough Feathers. I had met her dad many times but the look on his face now would reduce most ponies to ashes

“Why did the cops show up at the party?” Rough Feathers asked.

“Uhm, well it got a little loud Dad.” Scoots tried to explain.

“This is the last time you miss curfew. You’re grounded!” He yelled.

“But Dad, I’m 18!” Scoots whined.

“As long as you live under my roof, what I say goes!” He shouted before going off to bed.

I followed Scootaloo to her room, her head hung low.

“Hey, you mind if I crash here?” I asked her.

“Are you crazy?” She yelled in a whisper.

“What?” I asked

“What is my Dad gonna think if he sees you in my room?” She asked rhetorically

“We’re both 18. Why would he-oh...” I trailed off remembering the connection between father and daughter.

“Yeah. Oh, is right.” She said, crossing her arms.

“Then don’t make it seem like we had sex.” I said, “If you act casual, he won’t really question it. Just give him the truth.” I said.

“Fine, but if we get in trouble, you owe me big time for not being sober enough to get your sorry ass home.” She said, opening the door.

I don’t remember much after I entered her room, all I remember is feeling nice and cool under the sheets.

I smiled as I woke up and stretched. I came into contact with a rather large soft mass. I looked over and saw Scootaloo staring at me, her eyes almost out of her skull. I realized we were both naked as well, causing my eyes to bulge in similar fashion.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!”
