Shade's Legacy: Welcome to Equestria
Chapter: Two - A False Sense of Security
Previous ChapterThe world I was now a part of was obscured by the storm. I needed to seek shelter, but first I had to get out of this tree. I saw trees all around but it was too dark to tell any other terrain apart from the trees.
In that instant, before I could accumulate a plan to jump or fly, I plummeted from the branch on which I stood. The branch snapped from under me. I would assume I was too heavy. It was a matter of time till destiny would determine my fate.. And then I reached the surface.
I awoke disoriented even worse than when I came from the mirror. I stumbled to stand; even walk for that matter. I've yet to comprehend this form. But practice was key in this situation.
“Ow, Fuck man..”
The crash landing crippled my right wing. Still soaked and now injured, next I'd get a co- Achoo! ..Yep, now I'm getting a cold.. Great!
“I need to seek a place of refuge,” I said to myself. The shelter I sought can't be too far.
-Hoot! Hoot!-
I jumped in fright. I knew it was an owl, but this 'strange world' sill was a new experience. I had to move even if each step was difficult, but with the practice of moving from tree to tree I started to grasp this complication. It didn't take long before I was properly walking like a pony. One hove in front of the other, before long I arrived to some ruins. I sought shelter and I found a rundown, old, and weathered castle. It was better than nothing but now I needed warmth.
The dark corridors excited me. Oh, I had such a 'Wing Boner' for the suits of armor that infested the halls of this abandoned castle. The banners were also very pleasing to the eyes. They depicted what seemed like princesses: one of day and one of night. Every moment I spend in this place brought more curiosity. I arrived in the throne room. It was an enlightenment. Who wouldn't want to one day rule? I circled the throne, it was moldy, wet, and thrashed beyond repair; unless you had magic, but.. Haha.. That's impossible. Then lightning struck! It startled me so that I lunged back. I believed I bumped into a touch that hung the wall, but I couldn't be certain. It reveled a passage that looked like a slide. “Well, time for the funniest part of this night,” I chuckled to myself. And then I slid.
As I made my way down, the twists and turns brought a smile to my once concerned and worried face. Then came the end, it shown the way to a location I was desperately in need of: a library (for knowledge of this realm) and a fireplace (for that well deserved warmth). I sat and studied to my fullest ability; burning what books didn't seem relevant for warmth. I studied history and maps and burned magic and potions (because magic books must have been a joke and potion or elixir books seemed ludicrous). I learned from my studies that the forest I resided was the Everfree Forest and the white castle I once was in was Canterlot Castle. Furthering my studies, I read of the two princesses that rule over Equestria: Chelestia and Luna. Chelestia is the princess of the sun and she raises the sun each day, and once banished her sister Luna to the moon because Luna felt unappreciated. Luna raises the moon each night, and because she felt unappreciated she became Nightmare Moon just because all ponies relished the day but slept at night. I kept all the research and stuffed it in a old knapsack I discovered near the fireplace.
Then I heard voices.. Voices so obscured. Voices in my head. Why now? I'm not mad but I may be crazy. I started to understand as I searched the room for the voices (like that would even help). I listened in and heard, “come, come to me”. I lost all control and was guided to a bookcase where damaged books resided; most unreadable. Unable to control my motions, like I was in a sort of trance, I raised my hand to the second shelf from the top and knocked all the books down. There laid an insignia and all I had to do was touch it and there... The shelf moved and a room was revealed.
