Suddenly, potatoes

'Suddenly, potatoes' are the two magic words. Ponies go about their day before hearing those words whispered into their ears just to be flooded with potatoes a mere moment later.

This is just a one-shot that I made after I got the idea in my head, "Hey, maybe random potatoes would be a good idea for a story."

Suddenly, potatoes

Potatoes, suddenly

It was a day like any other and everypony went about their business like usual. Everything was going great... and Discord hated it. Of course he didn't mind all the peace every once in a while, but he hasn't caused any chaos in days! It was really starting to get to him, so he started planning on what to do.

As he was lost in his thoughts, Discord floated around on a flying rowboat until he heard somepony talking below him. He looked below with a telescope made of chocolate to see that he was above a stall with a pony selling potatoes.

"Potatoes? Hmm..." He said out loud while taking a bite of his telescope, before getting a devious smile, "That gives me an idea!"

Discord snapped his fingers and both he and his rowboat disappeared in a flash. Then over at the library a book grew eyes that looked around for a moment before spotting Twilight. She was reorganizing one of the shelves and Discord watched with glee before whispering, "Suddenly, potatoes."

"What? Is somepony here?" Twilight said while looking around, before she heard a rumbling.

Just as she was getting worried, potatoes started coming from nowhere. Books where tossed off of the shelves as potatoes poured from them and then Twilight's basement door flung open with potatoes launching out of it. Soon the whole room was being filled with potatoes as Twilight kept screaming, "WHAT!!!!!" again and again. Finally after the whole room was filled, the front door to the library flew open and Twilight along with most of the potatoes came pouring out.

The next thing she knew, Discord was a few feet away laughing like mad with his legs kicking wildly in the air, "That worked so well!" He said once he calmed a bit, before snapping his fingers and teleporting away again.

"DISCORD!!!!!" Twilight yelled to the sky with obvious rage in her eyes.

Discord reappeared as a cloud with eyes above Rainbow Dash while she napped in a tree. He looked down at her with a smile.

"If this worked so well with Twilight, then I can't wait to see what Rainbow Dash will do." He said to himself.

Discord then made his mouth float over to Rainbow Dash's ear and whispered, "Suddenly, potatoes."

It seemed to have the effect that he wanted because she shot up and hit her head on a branch, "Ow. Wait, did I just hear somepony say potatoes?"

Then the rumbling from before started up again and it caused Rainbow Dash to look around for the source. A few holes where blown through the ground as potatoes rushed out of them. Sadly for Rainbow Dash, all the potatoes were coming straight for her and before she could fly away she was buried in a mountain of potatoes. Then as the onslaught finished, Rainbow's head popped out of the top of the mountain before one of the holes launched a cherry that landed on her head.

She looked around for the culprit before noticing the cloud that was laughing at her, "Why didn't I think of this earlier?! It's hilarious!"

"DISCORD!!!!!" Rainbow Dash screamed before flying straight for the cloud.

"Uh, oh." Thinking fast, Discord teleported before Rainbow Dash obliterated the cloud that he was disguised as.

He then appeared in the throne room disguised as a chandelier and looked down at Princess Celestia as she read some mail. Discord got the biggest smile yet and knew that this was going to be the best one. He made two of the chandelier ornaments act like fingers snapping and a piece of paper showed up on top of Celestia's mail pile. She finished reading the mail that she was holding before grabbing the paper. It only had two words on it, which said, "Suddenly, potatoes."

As soon as she read the paper a voice whispered the same exact thing and a rumbling was heard. Celestia sat there for a moment while all of her guards got tense at the rumbling. Soon the throne room door burst open and potatoes started flying through.

Celestia looked at this and just simply said, "Nope." before teleporting into the hallway.

She could hear her guards yelling before Discord teleported next to her, "Why do you have to ruin all the fun?"

"You didn't hurt them in any way did you?" Celestia asked.

"Of course not, but I wish you were in there with them," Celestia then shot a tiny bolt of magic at Discord, "Hey! What was that?!"

"Just a spell that won't let you teleport for the next few minutes." Celestia replied calmly.

"What? Why would you do that?"

"Suddenly..." Celestia began with an evil smile.

"No... You wouldn't dare!!!" Discord responded while getting slightly worried.

"...potatoes."

Then the very same rumbling from before began again and Celestia gave Discord a smug smile before teleporting away. Discord Started looking franticly back and forth. He soon saw that potatoes were coming from one side of the hall, so he turned and ran before seeing the second wave of potatoes coming from the opposite side.

"No, no no no! You can't do this!" He yelled.

Discord tried to block the potatoes with a bunch of random items, but the potatoes would just bury them without stopping. Discord noticed a window that he could climb out of, but as soon as he reached it, potatoes poured out of it and knocked him against the wall. Finally as the potatoes covered him he gave one last, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!" before being completely buried.

"Note to self," Discord mumbled grumpily from the bottom of the potatoes, "Don't try to prank Celestia."
