"Evolution by Natural Selection, a simple, yet complex idea. How to put the entire origin of species into a few simple words. Besides what has already been said, of course.
Of course, i say, but in saying this i am confirming that you already have a basic understanding of Darwin's theory of evolution. I'm getting sidetracked. It is immensely important... understanding... Oh fuck it, go read a book!" I yell, throwing my stack of note cards onto the floor. I get up and walk into my bathroom. Practicing this speech is incredibly stressful, for a multitude of reasons. The largest among them happens to be that i am an exception to the very rule of the world that i am trying to teach about.
Starting at the beginning, in New York City, I was riding my bike. Now, when i say New York City, I mean... New York City. The streets filled with a sea of yellow taxi's, each one trying to yell profanities at the car in front of them, and the leader of the pack yelling at the traffic light. The cacophony of noise is almost a competition between drivers... I'm getting sidetracked again. I was riding my bike, when this asshole bumps right into me. I immediately know I did something wrong, because he fixes me with this death glare, and eyes my bike. Don't get me wrong; I'm in no way weak. But you try standing up for yourself against a big guy in a leather jacket. Not happening. So we just have a silent contest of wills, before I hear a police siren in the distance. At his involuntary twitch, I realize the cause of it.
"AHHHH, help me, this guy is... uh, DANGEROUS," I say, trying to get their attention. I had no idea what to say in this situation, I just hoped that he wouldn't find me in my sleep and kill me over it. As I let my glance shift back, I noticed that he was no longer there. I tried to smile in triumph, but then i just stood there. What kind of good Samaritan would I be if I just let him go? I stood there until I figured I had some time to spare, and then fumbled onto my bike to give chase.
The next couple of minutes can be summarized in just a couple words; I was lost. The metropolis of New York was vast, and I was lost in a subway. I just walked around in circles then. I checked my phone, and it had 3% battery remaining. Praying to whatever god out there would listen, I made a call to home. Being 15 meant that I had a lot of freedom, but I don't think my parents would believe that I was late because I was bumped into by a shady dude, and so I followed him on my bike into a train station. Subway, to be precise. This is hopeless. The call beeped a few times, so I put it down. I tried to keep my pacing to a minimum, but in times when I'm nervous, I really have no control over it. Eventually I calmed down enough to sit down at a bench. I looked around, and saw something startlingly familiar. It was the man from the alley. I slowly pulled my phone out, and called the police. Turns out I didn't need to.
I watched in stupefied awe as the man was cornered in the subway by weird looking people with masks. I looked on in awe, and then screamed. They had begun to open fire on the man, who had just thrown down a vile of some nasty-looking liquid. The man fell onto it, and lived no more. I tried to make my way out of the subway silently, but to no avail. They just grabbed me, and threw me onto the already dead man. I don't remember anything after a loud bang next to my head, and then blacked out. I woke up in a morgue shortly after. Luckily, they seemed more focused on the other man than they were me, or else I wouldn't have escaped.
So, that's the story of how I got to where I am now. Several decades and false IDs later, and I'm still in the same boat I was in; high school. Specifically, doing an informational speech on evolution, and how it had affected the human race. I already have it written, but i just cant bring myself to tell my classmates lies like that. I want them to know the truth. Sure, you hear about it in the news all the time. In the headlines, it says, "Terrorist Strikes Again! The Monster of Manhattan has once again destroyed..." you get the point. I have this sinking feeling in my stomach every time I see something like that. Its not just a guess, I know it was that man. I heard he even survived a nuke. It was never confirmed, but i have a sinking feeling that it is true. I wonder what i can do.
At home, I sat at my computer desk, just wondering silently to myself about whether or not I should have left. If I had stayed in New York, there is a chance I might have stopped him. They say he's building an army of people like him. People like me. I shake my head. I am not a monster, I am merely a person of circumstance. Yes, I have killed before. Yes, i have eaten before. Yes, i did feel bad about it. Would I do it again? Yes. As selfish as it may sound, I can see why Mercer, that's his name, is doing some of the stuff that he is. Doesn't excuse the mass murder and terrorism, but i understand the self preservation.

I shouldn't have. I really shouldn't. Instead of the high-school problems that i had to deal with before, now my life is on the line. I infiltrated NY-zero, and met Alex Mercer. He met me with open arms, but I feel the sadistic smile on his face didn't really make him welcoming. Life just went downhill from there. I never realized how strong he became. How strong I could become. From consuming infected, i demolished my old weight of 230 kilos, to a whopping 7.5 tons. I could juggle buses, i could pick up houses, scale walls, and destroy entire skyscrapers. I have ascended to godhood. And I have no regrets. After all, Infected aren't people, are they?

Oh god, what have I done. The blood, oh so much blood... on my body, my hands, my face. My disgusting, sharpened fingers... they slice through human quite well. Clean, right through the middle, like dragging a hot knife through butter. That's all humans are, after all. Just butter.
So much blood...

Its alright, I've finally figured it out. I can fix this. Its okay. The... the... what am i talking about? What am I fixing- Oh yes! Of course that's it! I just need to... SHUT THE FUCK UP BACK THERE! Sorry, the patients are a little... less enthused about this whole thing than i am. Odd, dont they realize what they are becoming. They aren't human, on no, they are so much more. I just need a little more ti- SHUT UP I SAID! BACK TO THE CHAMBER IF YOU DON'T STOP WHIMPERING! So troublesome. This should be my last log, I am in the process of creating my own "way out" one may call it. I doubt anyone will be viewing these, but it doesn't matter. I will be leaving this place very soon. I must first save the human race. Evolution... By Natural Selection.
