Spiral sighed reading the article he was passing out to every single pony who would take one. It was three days since the invasion of the beings called the changelings. It was all stupid if any pony would have asked him about it. Sure, it was a dark time in Equestria if something like this did happen, but he personally didn't understand why the invasion happened in the first place. Keeping an ear to the ground was part of his job. He had heard quite a bit about these creatures that had been in the paper for the past three days. Honestly, he wasn't surprised they invaded. Equestria is the most friendly nation around these parts. Also it probably was a bad idea to just make our land a HUGE target by announcing a royal wedding to a bunch of creatures that eat love and stuff close to it. Although something really bugged him about that, how is it that the changelings went completely under the radar for so long? More than that, wouldn't they have been a known species for a very long time? They couldn't have just popped up out of nowhere. Shaking his head he passed a paper on to a noble pony who passed and got handed 2 bits as he passed. Oh sometimes he loved his job. Speaking of which he had more papers to sell if he was going to meet his quota before heading home. Steeling himself he picked up the last five papers from his stack and took flight. It wouldn't take him long. There was a few ponies he knew who always bought papers from him. Damn that bitch and her husband, she was so close! She slammed her fist into a wall before sighing and falling to her knees and holding her stomach. Chrysalis was starving. She hadn't felt like this in such a long time. She is a QUEEN for the creator's sake! She should never go hungry! Her dragonic-like emerald eyes looked out from the alley-way she was hiding in for the past few hours. She was running out of energy, to hold a disguise. It wouldn't be long before she couldn't hold one all together and she was found out. If that wasn't the worst of it all... She had been trying to reach out to her children ever since her botched invasion. The past few days her mind was silent, no chatter what so ever. This frightened her, she'd never admit it out loud but it did. Her dear children, all gone. Killed by those damn ponies and the one thing they need to live, Love. The thing she needed to keep her children fed, was what had taken them away from her. Spying a black pegasus flying a bit above every pony else she took note of the news paper under his arm. Royal Canterlot Wedding Attacked By Monsters. Monster, she hated being called that. In her long life, nothing bothered her more than that. Her stomach growled at her causing her to hiss in frustration and walk down the alley a little ways and sigh sitting in the shadow of a large trash-bin. She needed to feed on somepony, anypony. If she didn't she'd surely die soon and that was not an option. She didn't want to die, not yet anyway. With a huff and a small groan at the pain she felt, changed into a light gray unicorn, navy colored mane and tail and keeping her eyes the same color as her normal eyes. A pair of shorts and a tank top covered her smaller chest and rather slim hips. She used this less than noticeable body to get around for the past few days without drawing attention. She was making herself look a bit young, like a teenager at the moment . She couldn't get any love or affection from anyone currently for how she looked aside from the occasional pervert who eyed her like a piece of candy. She made it a habit to never get involved with stallions who looked at like that. The last time she did she nearly got drugged. Who knows what would have happened if she hadn't have ducked out when she did. Walking through the streets she felt her stomach claw at her. She was going to change back soon, when she wasn't quite sure but she needed to find some shelter and most importantly it needed to have plenty of places for her to hide from the guard. She was near the edge of the city now this would be the best possible place for her to find a place to hide in. Spying a set of cellar doors connected to a rather homey looking house made Chrysalis smile, a cellar would be perfect! She could hide in there! Making haste and making certain no pony was looking at her she moved to the cellar and pulled at the door. A heavy padlock stopped the cellar from opening. "Damn it..." She cursed huffing. She wasn't at all in the condition to open this padlock with her magic. It would take much more energy than she had at the moment. She had to think quick because the ponies in this area were still on the look out for anything suspicious in the area and a random pony trying to open a cellar door while locked in a yard where she didn't live, would be considered suspicious. Rounding the back of the house there was a back door other than that there wasn't much aside from a lone lawn chair and a small side table near it. "Well who ever lives here seems to live alone..." Chrysalis said quietly to herself moving to the back door and trying the handle. It was unlocked! She could get inside! Oh, thank the creators she would be safe for at least a few hours. She slipped inside, closing the door quickly and quietly, looking around carefully for signs of movement while locking the door. She was now in a kitchen, a rather small one but it was filled with things. Pictures hung on the fridge, along with the occasional post-it note here or there. The sink was spotless as was the floor, counter tops and table in the center of the room. There wasn't more than six cabinets in the room. To her left was a closed door and in front of her was a doorway leading into another room most likely a dining room or living room. It was completely silent no matter how hard she listened not a sound was heard aside from her own breathing. She was alone, but she wouldn't be for long. She needed to find a place to sleep for now, any bed in this place would be a horrible idea. She'd be found immediately. Shaking her head, no she wouldn't allow that. She had to figure out who lived here. Finding out wasn't that hard, a letter pinned to fridge by a magnet told her everything she needed to know. Dear Son, I hope that you are well, the last time you wrote you said you felt pretty sick. I actually just got over a cold myself a few days ago. I had a pounding headache and a fever, but don't worry your mom is still as tough as ever! I don't need you to come rushing back home just for a small case of a fever and the sniffles. You know, sometimes I still call up the stairs that dinner is ready. I know your not here but I still do it on occasion. It makes miss your father so much. He'd probably tell me, Lillian the boy is off living his life. So quit living in the past and get your head outta the clouds...' Oh, that does remind me. I did get those chocolates you sent from that fancy shop on main street in Canterlot. Spiral, you don't have to send me anything. I do appreciate it but my co-workers thought I was getting chocolates from a stud in Canterlot with a lot of money. Those chocolates are very expensive. Don't you dare spend money like that on me again understand? You should focus on getting a mare-friend instead of spending your time worrying about your mom. I'm not getting any younger, and I want to live to see my grand-foals. So get to work on that you hear me? Although that wont stop me from visiting soon, I took about a month off of work and will be coming by next month so you can show me just how far along you are. I know that you insisted that I wait but I am coming anyway. I found that you do the best when put under pressure just like your father. I'll be sure to bring a plate of grandma's home-made Cookies, you know the ones she made for you when you were little? I made them from scratch just like your grandma used to and you are going to tell me if I finally got it right this time. Your Mom, Lillian Storm Chrysalis couldn't keep herself from smiling at the letter as she read it. Spiral was the name of the pony who lived here, he had to be no older than mid twenties given how his mother was scolding him in the letter. Given from the letter's date it was written about a week ago, so he must have received it yesterday or maybe the day before if she could give a guess. Inspecting the other things on the fridge she spotted a family photo which had three pegasii in it. Two adults and one colt all smiling for the camera taking the picture. The mare was a dark blue pegasus, white mane and tail with sea green eyes filled with happiness and love. The stallion was a few inches taller than the mare next to him his wings were much wider than hers, Chrysalis could tell that by just looking at him. His fur was dark brown with a jet black mane and tail with piercing blue eyes full of strength and pride. Lastly the colt, he had a pure black coat and wide wings like his father behind him, a dark grey mane and tail seeming to be a mix of his parents his eyes being cyan but had the confidence and pride of his father. Well she had the information she needed for now, she had what she needed to feed off of the stallion if she got the chance but first she needed sleep.Looking to the door on her left she sighed, if she was right this door leads down to the cellar. She honestly didn't want to sleep in a cellar but what other choice did she have? She opened the door and gazed down the steps into the dark cellar. She fortunately didn't need to turn on any lights to see in the dark but she'd need to drop her disguise first. Doing so made her feel much better going down the stairs and closing the door behind her. She was going to get as much rest as she could and possibly if she's lucky be able to feed off of him a bit before hitting the road. She yawned reaching the bottom of the stairs. There wasn't much down here, a few sacks of soil and gardening supplies lined one of the walls. The rest of the place was completely empty. It puzzled her why the pony didn't have anything else down here but she would think about that later. Sleep was calling her name and she wasn't going to refuse it any longer. Spiral finished selling off his last paper to one of his regular customers and sighed in relief cause that meant it was quitting time. Thankfully for him this was his last day for the rest of the month. He had requested some time off so he could finally start that garden in his back yard. True he wasn't an earth pony but he could still grow a few vegetables and save himself a few bits here and there on groceries. If there was one thing he remembered his mother telling him it was, 'Gardens are money savers if tended to right. Your father and I saved nearly 3,000 bits in a year from having one. ' He thought to himself flying towards his house. He sighed, he honestly missed his mom. He left home for school and after he graduated he had decided to move away from Philydelphia, head out into the world. His mom was so proud of him that day. Gave him a hug and a small bag of bits to get him started in the world. She was coming up to visit him soon from the most recent letter he'd received from her. He was excited to show his mother that he was doing well for himself! one more reason for her to be proud of him. The only thing he didn't have however was a mare-friend, that was something that evaded him. Here in Canterlot things are much different from back home, a lot of mares around either think themselves too good for a stallion like himself or are already spoken for. He got a lot of things from his father, but his luck with mares was not one of them. Landing on his front yard he fished his keys out of his pocket and unlocked the door pulling it open and going inside closing it behind him making sure to lock it. "Oh right," He said looking up at the ceiling shaking his head. "I should lock my back door before I start dinner." He walked through his living room to the kitchen and looked at the door stopped in his tracks. It was locked already. He was notorious for never locking the back door to his house it was ALWAYS unlocked when he got home from work. Why was it locked? Chapter IISpiral wasn't alone, call it paranoia but he knew he wasn't. Someone was here, somewhere. He didn't see anyone so far, so they had to either be upstairs in his room or down stairs in the cellar. There wasn't anything very important in the cellar unless someone was going to steal gardening supplies. He didn't keep any money in his room, it was here in the kitchen under the floorboards underneath the table. Which should he check? Up... or down? Upon further thought he'd check the cellar first. He could easily trap who ever was in there just by coming back up the stairs and locking the door. That settles it he would check down there first. Taking a deep breath he went to the door and opened it quietly. He silently thanked himself that he got all the door hinges in the house oiled so that they didn't creek when they opened. Taking his time going down the stairs into the darkness below. It was too dark down here for him to see at the current moment so he kept a tight hold on the wooden rail to his right while his other hand kept against the wall to his left looking for the light switch. He found it, bracing himself and saying a silent prayer to the creator above he flicked the switch. The lights flickered a moment before turning on and that's when he saw her laying there using the sacks of soil as a bed and pillows. He gulped remembering the description the royal guards released. Looks like an insect, check. Holes in arms and legs, check. Bug like wings, check. Mane made of a type of membrane material, check. He wasn't going to go and touch it to be sure but he'd check that one off anyway. Fangs, check. Finally if the horn is jagged, alert the guard immediately. Looking at the changeling and seeing the jagged horn made him gulp. He had the most wanted creature in Equestria, sleeping in his basement! He knew better than to scream, if he did not only would it make him seem like a total sissy. He'd wake the changeling and that was the last thing he wanted. Turning around he reached over to the light switch about to turn it off when he heard movement making him look back at the location of the changeling. She was looking at him, she was awake and looking at him. Her eyes were... pretty. He shook that thought out of his head and stayed frozen there as she spoke. "So it seems you found me pony. Much sooner than I would have liked and now that you are aware of me it seems that you wont be fooled by my magic." Chrysalis said lifting her head from the make-shift bed and sitting up staring Spiral down. "What's your play? You're going to alert the guards of my location I take it?" She looked horrible it didn't take a very hard look for Spiral to see what she'd been through the past few days. The guards did want her captured but what would they do to her afterwards? "I wasn't too sure about that..." Spiral responded making Chrysalis to raise a brow in question. What did he mean he wasn't sure? "I'm pretty sure I got a good idea who you are but, I don't think you really deserve all the hate you are getting." Now this was definitely new to Chrysalis. She was getting sympathy from this stallion. "My father told me something that I think I should share with you. Everyone makes mistakes, no matter who they are or how powerful. It's how they deal with the consequences of said mistakes that makes them who they are." He looked uncomfortable but he moved a little ways towards her. "So, I don't think I will report you... You should be the one to deal with your mistakes not anyone else. Your past, your problem to solve." "You are quite the interesting pony Spiral." Chrysalis said a smirk appearing on her face. "How do you know my name?" Spiral asked looking now very uncomfortable and his wings shifted showing his nervousness. "I'm psychic." "Awww crap, you can read my thoughts?" "Yes." "Damn then you must have heard my thought about your eyes being pretty..." Chrysalis blushed surprised at his statement and looked the stallion over. He thought her eyes are pretty? What kind of strange pony he? "Yes I did, now-" "Wait a second," He said cutting her off, "If you could read my mind then, why would you ask if I was going to alert the guards? You can't read my mind at all can you?" Crysalis sighed nodding having to unfortunately be honest because he caught on so quickly. If she had the strength she'd just debilitate him and drain love out of him for a while but that wasn't an option at the moment. "Well, you must have found out my name somewhere upstairs but I'll introduce myself anyway. My name is Spiral Storm, i'm 24 years old and I work for the Canterlot news paper as a delivery and sales pony." Chrysalis' eyes widen in realization, he was the black pegasus she saw earlier today flying with those papers. Interesting, he must know quite a bit about what goes on in Canterlot. "So, what's your name and you can leave out the age part... I wouldn't want you to think me rude and ask a lady her age." How nice this pony actually has manners. "I am Queen Chrysalis," The changeling responded standing up and looking down at him. Pegasii are the smallest out of the pony races and she towered over him by at least 2 feet maybe more. "W-well it's nice to meet you, your majesty." He bowed his head to her! He was polite and gave her respect to boot? Just who in Tartarus is this pony? "I was about to make dinner upstairs before this. It would be very rude of me to make something for myself without asking my guest if they'd like anything to eat as well." Chrysalis could sense his nervousness about having her as his guest but she smiled. She can't actually recall a time she was ever asked if she wanted anything to eat when staying at a house that she entered without permission, or at all for that matter. It normally ended with a lot of screaming, begging for their lives. Sometimes even a lot of forced love making before she either killed them or wiped the memory of her ever being there. "Acutally food does sound good right now..." He was relatively straight-faced the whole time she was talking to him but he ended up smiling when she agreed which Chrysalis found a bit odd but she shook if off making a note to think on it later. "I suppose that I should disguise myself however, just in case you should have unexpected company. We wouldn't want any stupid ponies being big tattle-tails now would we?" "I suppose not," Spiral said turning and heading up the stairs. "Oh umm... I do happen to have some clothes that are a quite a bit too big for me in my closet up in my room... I just thought you should know in case you'd like to take a shower or something before dinner. It will take quite a bit of time to prepare." Chrysalis sat down on the makeshift bed she had made and looked at the floor. This stallion was quite puzzling, he was being nothing but polite to her even after she invaded his home just days ago with an army. Offering clothes, food, and chance to bathe? The sound of chopping on a cutting board reached her ears as she stood up. He really wasn't going to throw her to the guards. There has to be something he wants from her. Something only she could help him with. That had to be it. What exactly... Then it hit her, his mother was coming... He needed a mare-friend. This stallion was crafty, perhaps even more so than she thought. Oh but she would show him soon that she is not to be toyed with. With a sigh and ignoring the growls of hunger that her stomach was making she changed into the disguise she used earlier today while looking for a hiding place only this time she upped the wow factor with wider hips and a bustier chest. Within reason of course she wouldn't want to absolutely destroy his mind with sexiness at least not until she was strong enough to drain him completely. Upon reaching the top of the stairs she took note of how easily he diced and chopped up the ingredients in front of him. So, He might be a decent cook as well? Chrysalis herself was never much good at cooking. She learned the basics from a job about 50 years ago but she hardly remembered anything from that little diner where she ended up breaking up the marriage of the cook and the waitress so she could suck the love out of them both. Ah, good times. Snapping back to reality she noticed that Spiral was looking at her and waiting for something. "What?" Chrysalis asked giving him a questioning look. "Oh, you must not have heard me. I said that your welcome to take a seat anywhere... and I also asked if you wanted anything to drink." He said walking back to the pot he had on the stove turning up the heat a bit and scrapping the diced vegetables and herbs into the boiling water and putting the cutting board in the sink. "A cup of water would be lovely." She said subconsciously going into the voice and mannerisms of her disguise. Spiral just nodded opening the cabinet to his right and pulled a cup from it and went to the fridge walking right past her. She shook her head when she realized something was off. He wasn't feeling anything that she could eat right now. Not even the slightest hint of attraction. Was something wrong with her disguise? She had to find out. "Do you have a mirror?" "There's one in the bathroom upstairs..." "If you'll excuse me then..." She hustled out of the room and up the steps leaving him alone with the cup of acquired water in his hand. He sighed a put it on the table. "Hmmm weird, she looked all shimmery for some reason." Spiral didn't really have time to think about that now however, he had to set the table for two now but that was fine. He'd never actually had a guest over before today. It was a bit nerve wreaking but he could do it. Right? *KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK* "Now who in the hay could that be?" Chapter IIIIt was pretty late for somepony to be knocking at his door. It was nearly nine at night. With a sigh Spiral made his way to the door and looked through the peep-hole. A stallion in golden armor stood on the front porch. His mind started going a mile a minute as he looked at the doorknob. Taking a deep breath he opened the door. "Good evening sir, is there something I can help you with?" Spiral asked as the guard looked him over for a moment. "Yes, the station got a report about an hour ago that a suspicious individual was seen entering this residence. I can assume that you are the owner?" Spiral nodded in response. "Good, by the order of Princess Celestia I have the right to search your home. Do you object to the search?" "No of course not. Please come in." This wasn't good, he had to find a way to warn Chrysalis that a guard was here. "Oh, I think I know why you were called." The guard paused halfway to the kitchen and looked at him. "You see my mare-friend came over today when I wasn't home yet, I told her to use the back door since I don't lock it." "You don't lock your back door? You do realize that we were just invaded days ago correct?" The guard said looking at Spiral like he was stupid. "Yes I'm aware, which is why I search my house top to bottom before doing anything else when I get home. Although that won't be a problem anymore." "Why is that?" The guard asked looking around the room with a critical eye. "Because my mare-friend is going to be moving in with me soon and she'll be watching over the house when I'm at work. That and as of today I'm on vacation, I'm starting a garden in the back yard and she's helping me." "So is this mare-friend of yours here right now?" "Yes she's upstairs, I'll call her down right now. She's not really one to be super talkative." Spiral went to the base of the stairs. "Hey Chrys? Could you come down here there is a guard down here that's here to check the house for changelings. Make sure you put in your contact lenses. We don't wanna scare the stallion." "What do you mean scare me?" "Oh, Chrys's father was a dragon. She's got dragon-like eyes and it tends to make others rather nervous or even scared of her for no reason." "Ah, that makes sense but I doubt I'd have a problem, I've seen dragons before her eyes wont be an issue." The guard explained going into the kitchen and having a look around. -Meanwhile just before the guard had knocked on the door.- Chrysalis was up in the bathroom freaking out. There was something wrong with her disguise! She could only disguise one of her eyes! this was bad very, very bad! She'd ever be able to disguise herself again if she couldn't fix this. Her dragon-like eye stared back at her in the mirror while the other was disguised. She was going to need to be fed with a large dose of love and soon. This was a sign she was going to die soon if she didn't. She'd saw it happen to some of her children as they starved to death. Losing the ability to change form and then physically degrading until death called to them. She didn't want to die not yet! She was going to make Spiral love her even if she had to force- *KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK* The knocking pulled Chrysalis out of her thoughts, it was very late. Only drunk ponies or ones heading to bars would be out this late in Canterlot unless.... The guard! Did Spiral betray her or maybe divine punishment for thinking about forcing Spiral to love her? He was the only pony ever to be kind to the true her, so could it be? "Hey Chrys?" Spiral's voice called up to her. "Could you come down here there is a guard down here to check the house for changelings. Make sure you put in your contact lenses. We don't want to scare the stallion." Wait that's it! Contact lenses! Chrysalis looked in the mirror and allowed her other eye to become visible. Both her dragon-like eyes stare back at her. They didn't look at all out of place with the disguise. She then thought about her voice. If it happened to break when talking to the guard it would be a problem. She'd have to find a way around that. She could pretend to be mute! It was perfect! She might get lucky and Spiral or the guard would be able to understand sign language. She nodded opening the door and coming down the stairs quietly and tapping Spiral on the shoulder. Spiral turned his head to look at Chrysalis only for her to make signs at him. His face went to confusion for a moment until he seemed to get the idea and he smiled nodding. "Chrys, I thought you were going to put your contacts in," Spiral said loud enough to get the guards attention and he came back out of the kitchen. Chrysalis signed at him and Spiral nodded and give a look of understanding. "You lost them on the train here? How'd that happen?" Chrys signed a bit more a smile on her face. He understands sign language this is perfect! "Oh, that's unfortunate... I'll get you some new ones later, but this is the guard I told you about." "Chrys is your name correct?" Chrysalis nodded and signed to Spiral. "She says that her full name is Chrystal Mirror and it's nice to meet you. However she'd like it if you'd use Chrys when addressing her." Spiral said translating nearly perfectly. Chrysalis had to give the stallion credit, she was signing pretty quickly so it had to be rather difficult for him to keep up. "Right, well other than you two has anyone come to the house today?" The guard asked looking at Chrysalis who just shook her head no and signed a response. "She says no, not anypony else besides you sir." "Alright well I'm going to check your upstairs and then i'll be on my way. I apologize for the intrusion and hope you have a great rest of your evening." The guard said heading up the stairs. Chrysalis smiled at Spiral and clung to his arm pressing it purposely between her breasts. Spiral rolled his eyes and kissed her cheek. A bolt of raw love flowed into Chrysalis making her let go of his arm. Placing her hand on her cheek she looked at Spiral with surprise as he walked to the kitchen. What was that? It was so intense. She'd never felt anything like that in all of her life, and she wanted more. She followed him into the kitchen and watched him stir the soup. The guard came down the stairs after a few minutes and bid them a good night before leaving the house. It was just the two of them again. Just how Chrys wanted it, no needed it to be. Her stomach was craving that new intense feeling she just received and she was going to get it. Even if she had to force it out of him. Author's Note Okay a bit shorter for this chapter, sorry bout that... Been busy with work and other things. I promise the next chapter I have planned will be much longer than this one. Till the next time, Silverstream Chapter IVSomething has gone wrong. We don't seem to have an archived copy of that chapter.
Chapter IBREAKING NEWS The Royal Canterlot Wedding Attacked By Monsters! Spiral sighed reading the article he was passing out to every single pony who would take one.
Right? *KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK* "Now who in the hay could that be?"
Chapter IIIIt was pretty late for somepony to be knocking at his door. Till the next time, Silverstream
