Dear Princess Luna

In my recent encounter with Discord, he was a little edgy around us. It was odd at first, but I shrugged it off, thinking it was just Discord being Discord. But as I watched him, I began to notice a pattern. He would shy away from me and most others and hide away at Fluttershy’s cottage. It wasn’t until I did the stupid thing of prying in on something I had no business in when I found out Fluttershy was helping him overcome his emotions.

Apparently after the results of Tirek’s defeat Discord began to hold friends precious to him, but he was so conflicted by his previous feelings that it withdrew him to the point of timidness. I had never seen such an emotionally distraught creature and it upset me.

I learned my lesson the hard way that one should trust their friends to do what’s right, even if that one friend is Discord. You’ll never sleep right again when you see the god of chaos cry. Tartarus must have been horrid.

Though, on the bright side, all six of us are now dedicated to helping him overcome his feelings. He’s making great progress.

P.S. Discord proposed to Fluttershy!

Your faithful friend and fellow princess

Princess Twilight Sparkle.

Princess Luna smiled at the letter her sister’s previous student had written. She could tell it was done in Spike’s handwriting, but it still sounded exactly like Twilight in her head. It was expected, after all. It was pretty late at night and she knew how long Twilight would sit awake reading. The poor mare was probably so drowsy that she couldn’t even hold a quill.

The princess sat back in her throne and sighed. Now that she wasn’t slouching over the letter, one could get a better look at her.

Luna, like her sister, wore a long, draping dress that matched her element. The silk it was made of was enchanted to reflect the night sky in the blue material, giving it almost the same look as her mane and tail. Around her neck was her traditional silver necklace with a diamond crescent moon pendant on the front.

To any pony around she would have been the epitome of beautiful, but her tomboyinshness wouldn’t allow things like dresses for more than one or two nights a week. The rest of the time, she would wear civilian clothing. Still, what she wore only complimented her gentle curves and cute, petite body.

Today was one of her days to wear a dress and she didn’t mind it.

“Hmmm… Discord has emotional problems from the past… I wonder.” Luna drew her legs up and propped them over the arm rest as she lied down across the other, completely without a care in the world. After reading the letter, Luna began to remember Celestia having a similar withdrawn behavior ever sense she returned from the moon. “I do wonder if my sister may suffer from such emotions as well... “ She thought out loud. "She did, after all, ban me to the moon... Perhaps guilt?

It was true that Luna’s own emotional problems have been taken care of, but her sister was a different story. Every time Luna would ask her about trying to find somepony special, or a good friend to talk to, Celestia would change the subject. Even when Luna herself offered to talk to her about it, the conversation was avoided.

Luna chewed on her lip as she thought. Things between her and Celestia were, of course, never the same, but Celestia seemed to soak up all the issues like a sponge. But exactly how full is that sponge? How long until it leaks or becomes so dirty it can no longer be used? These were scary thoughts to Luna, because that’s exactly how the night princess acted before she became… ‘that mare’.

Luna stretched her arms over her head as the constant churning of her thoughts stiffened her muscles with stress. The action accidentally gave one of her night guards at the far left of the room a glance down her dress at her cleavage. His nostrils bursted with blood and he collapsed on the floor next to his partner, who hadn’t had the pleasure of seeing what his friend had. The stallion was carried out without Luna even noticing.

“Then there was something else Twilight had said… Discord had proposed to Fluttershy.” Luna said to herself as she stared up at the ceiling. “Maybe if I could get her alone, I could get her to tell me what is wrong... Maybe she is just trying to hide a suitor from me... Yes, that must be it… She is hiding the fact that she is in love with somepony.”

Luna chuckled as a plan began to form in her mind.

“Luna, you know how I feel about you staying up all day playing video games.” Celestia groaned as she and Luna shared tea together the next afternoon. Celestia was wearing her usual gold trimmed white dress, though it was her one favorite version of it. It was the only one that had a sun in the same shape as her cutie mark on the lower part of the skirt.

Luna shrugged off the comment. “I assure you, dear sister, that it creates no problem for me. If anything it let’s me sleep better the next day.

Celestia rolled her eyes. “But don’t you think that might catch up with you one of these days? I don’t mind taking over the night every now and then, but your health is still my concern. I am your older sister, after all.”

“No, Celestia. It is not. You worry about me too much.” Luna argued. She lifted her cup to her lips and took a proper sip. Despite how she felt about many other royal traditions, tea with her sister was always proper. She wouldn’t have it any other way. She set the cup back down on it’s little dish and continued what she was saying. “I would rather it be the other way around for once. I will take the day tomorrow. I have something I want to do with you.”

The sun princess looked taken back by Luna’s response. She blushed and avoided her sister’s eyes. “Luna, I’m flattered, but that won’t be necessary. I… have too much work to do.”

“Nonsense. You work yourself too hard. Let me take the load for once. You cannot shelter me forever.”

Celestia made to argue, but her maw was held shut by Luna’s magic. Her eyes widened at the night princess.

“I will not take no for an answer, Tia.” Luna said assertively. She took another sip of her tea, not even looking at her sister’s shocked expression. In her own mind, Luna was laughing. ‘Oh, yes. This is going to be so good! I can not wait to hear who she has been crushing on!’

After her maw was released from it’s bindings, Celestia looked away. “F-f… Fine.” She stuttered.

“Excellent! Now I can tell you what we are going to do.” Luna said excitedly. She was positively giddy. She had a chance to hear her sister’s secrets all alone where nopony will ever hear. “I wish to bond with you more, so I thought we would rebuild our old bed chambers so we may have someplace to escape when the stress of a kingdom gets to us.”

Celestia spit out the tea she had just taken a sip of. She sputtered and coughed a few times, but managed to regain control. “W-what? The old castle?” She exclaimed. “Luna, I-I know you’re trying to be a good sister, but... I seriously don’t think this is... n-necessary.”

Luna was confused as to why Celestia was acting this way. “Why not, sister?” She asked. “I think it would be fun. Are you feeling well?”

“I-I’m fine, Luna. I assure you. Just… I don’t think it would be a good time to do this. I-I have so much work to do.” Celestia tried to resist.

The night princess narrowed her eyes at her elder sister. “Princess Celestia Von Cosmos. You are going to relax and enjoy my company tomorrow. It will be Hearts and Hooves day soon and I will not let you spend it alone in your chambers again. You would not want me to use the cake on you again, would you?”

Celestia gasped. “N-no, not the cake. Anything but that! I couldn’t stop eating it for a month! Whatever you did to that double chocolate cake caused a sensitive addiction to it...” She whined.

Luna smiled deviously. “Good, then we are agreed. Us sisters shall bond the way we used to when we were but fillies.”

“Huh… I would have thought the structure had failed long ago, but I guess the preservation spells held our chambers together quite well. I hardly notice a difference. Not even dust.” Luna said to Celestia as they stood in the center of the royal bedchamber they used to share as fillies. Though their belongings were no longer there, they could easily conjure up a spell that could fix that. The walls looked the same as they always had, gray stone with two windows cut through the far back walls.

“F-father always said that a castle is supposed to out last it’s rulers...” Celestia replied. She had been strangely timid and quiet the entire time they had been there. It was as if she was afraid somepony was watching her.

Luna did notice, but that only confirmed her suspicions. Thanks to Twilight’s letter, she was prepared for the symptoms. “That is right, he did. Father placed time capsule spells on the structures of the most important rooms. I watched him do it myself. He always told me my curiosity was enthralling, but I would need to control it.” She said, trying to keep a conversation going.

Celestia slowly nodded. “He was full of riddles.”

“I think he was testing us.”

“You found some of his riddles annoying.” Celestia pointed out.

Luna laughed. “Indeed I did. Now what say we start turning this place back into something comfortable.”

The elder sister took a deep breath and nodded. “Ok…”

Within moments, the two royal sisters were at each side of the room decorating their personal space exactly as they had remembered it. Luna, though still keeping most of her old furniture, gave her own space the upgrade of four game systems and a flat screen tv.

Celestia shook her head in slight disappointment when she had found Luna trying to run a magic drop cord all the way back to Canterlot to plug in her devices. “How did you ever survive before?” She asked in a sarcastic voice.

“Easy. I was focusing on dreams. Now I let some ponies have nightmares. It must happen sometimes.” Luna replied innocently.

“Well… D-did you at least bring that one game I like?”

“Of course.”

Celestia sighed and sat down next to Luna on the floor. She crossed her legs and and held out her hand to Luna. “May I have a controller?”

Luna levitated a black controller into Celestia’s hand. She then smiled and loaded the game into the required system.

“That was fun, Luna.” Celestia said with a laugh. She was sitting on her respective bed, which was decorated with red drapes over the bed itself. The blankets, though, were a gold silk. Celestia herself was no longer wearing her dress, instead wearing her white nightgown.

“That it was.” Luna chuckled. Unlike Celestia’s nightgown, what she wore was more... revealing. Her outfit was comprised of only a pair of black lingerie panties and a black sports bra. She was also sitting on her own bed across from Celestia’s, her’s having been decorated with dark blue drapes with small crescent moons dangling from the edges. Her blankets were black and covered with stars.

“Did you really mean to run over those pedestrians?” Celestia asked with a devious grin.

Luna stifled a laugh. “Maybe… But that still does not compare to what you did, sister. Blowing up a gas station during traffic.”

“Oops.” The elder sister replied playfully.

The two princesses burst into laughter. It brought so many memories of the good times they used to have when they were much younger. That one thought, though, made Luna stop laughing. She sighed and looked down at the floor. “Um… Tia?”

Celestia wore a concerned look as she gazed at her younger sister. “Is everything alright?”

“N… No... No, it is not alright. There are too many times I have seen you act like before.”

“Luna, what are you talking about?”

This was it. This was her chance. It was now or never. “Celestia… I… I know what I did in the past is unforgivable, but not speaking about it to me and bottling it up will only turn you into somepony you are not. I… I should know...”

“So that’s what this is about?” Celestia asked in a surprised voice.

“I am sorry for prying, but if there is anything your student has taught me, it is that friendship is not just about the ponies you have met, but it is also about your family. Tia, you are my family and my closest friend. If anything were to happen to you, I could never forgive myself for letting it happen. Yet you go through it every day. It makes me hurt for you, sister.” Luna looked up at her sister. There were tears starting to run from her eyes. “I regret what I have done to you and I know I will never be able to escape it, yet you still hold part of my burden.”

“L… Luna… It’s not-”

“Tis our fault!” Luna cried suddenly, her emotions making her lose control of her voice. “Do not stress thyself with worrying about us... We do not deserve your pity...” Luna was suddenly caught off guard by a pair of arms grabbing her and pulling her into a tight embrace against a soft chest. She tried to struggle, but Celestia just held her. Luna soon gave up and cried against her sister as she was held, letting out all of her emotions.

For a long moment, Celestia simply held her younger sister against her. Even after Luna had stopped crying.

“Y-you… you can let go now…” Luna said weakly.

Celestia released the younger alicorn from her embrace and gave her a concerned look. “Are you ok?”

Luna nodded and wiped her eyes.

“Luna… What you said isn’t true... You are not a burden. Don’t you ever call yourself a burden in front of me again or so help me I will ban you to the moon for a week.” Celestia stated firmly.

Luna shrank away, but nodded again.

“The truth is… I am the burden…” Celestia looked away from Luna’s eyes. “I’m not like I used to be, Lulu… Yearning to see you again after a thousand years drove me to push every potential suitor away. I… eventually got to the point when I found no desire in anypony. Not even when I tried mares. Nothing. No love, no desire, no passion.”

“But… wh-why didn’t you tell me?” Luna questioned. She could easily tell that Celestia was getting more and more uncomfortable as she spoke, but she did nothing to stop her.

“Because… the pony I fell in love with…” Celestia paused and swallowed loudly. “I… I fell in love with... “

“Who is it?” Luna asked in a soothing tone.

“It’s… i-it’s…”

“Who is it!?”

“It’s you!”

Luna blinked in surprise. “What?”

Author's Note

No clue where the hell this came from. I actually had just started this today. Hope everypony likes this. It would have been a one shot if I didn't have a personal ban against writing less than two chapters.
