//-------------------------------------------------------// memories from the fray -by VLAD_89- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// my past //-------------------------------------------------------// my past Twilight sparkle and copper vineleaf walked over to the living room, where 3 couches sat, all neatly placed. Copper showed twilight a large floral pattern couch, and told he to sit down and get comfortable. The two sat down. The room was quiet for a moment. Twilight broke the silence. So, first things first, where did you come from, she asked in a polite manor. I used to live in the country, far from here. I moved here because it was much safer than where I was before. While copper was talking, twilight noticed a marking on copper's forearm. She interrupted copper with what's that on your arm. Oh that's a tattoo I got when I joined the army. You where in the army ? She responded. Yes, I was a leader of ponies. I made some strong battle hardened stallions out of silly little colts. We were six all in all. How many are you now, twilight gestured. Last one died seven years ago.  Oh..im sorry to hear that. They were the best ponies I'd ever served with. A tear streamed down copper's face. But they're in a better place now, he added. It must of been terrible, watching your friends fall away over the years. It was hard coping with it, but there was nothing I could of done to prevent it, he said. The room went silent once more. how did you lose them, twilight asked with a sad tone. If you don't mind, I dont want to dwell on how they died, it's too sad to remember and too hard to forget. I understand, twilight said in a motherly voice. Thank you, copper said. Lets just say some died because of the war, others old age, and some, bad habits got the best of them. I'm truly sorry about that...you seem lonely down here, have anyone to talk to, twilight asked tentivly. No, ever since my mare passed away I've been alone. Copper's face was now wet with tears of utter sadness. I'm sorry, he said in a weary voice. He put his head to his hooves and sobbed. Twilight, also feeling sad by point, got up, walked over to the sad copper vineleaf, and sat down beside, putting her arm around his neck. There there, dont cry now. I can still remember her vividly. Her image still haunts my mind and the gap in my heart can never be filled by anyone else except my darling hazel. A tear streamed down twilight's face. Is there anything I can do for you, to simmer your sadness, is there anything you would like, she asked copper. He lifted his head, moving his faded copper mane out of his face. He asked twilight to go and fetch a photo in the photo cabinet he had near his door. What picture, she asked. Me...and my wife, uttered sadly. Twilight got up and walked over to the cabinet, her hooves clopping on the wooden floors. She stood before the picture filled cupboard and searched for the photograph copper had requested. She gazed at various other photos. Photos of what seemed to be like ponies in the military, to lone mares and stallions standing in random places. She found the picture of copper and his past love. As she opened the doors and pucked up the photo, she could feel the sadness that copper had. It was the feeling of loss, loneliness and emptiness. She closed the cabinet and walked backed to the living room, trying not to cry while looking at the photo. She walked over to copper and placed the photo frame in copper's hooves. She sat down and watched as copper gazed at the photo. From where twilight was sitting, it looked like copper has his eyes locked on his sweetheart only. About ten minutes pasted before copper broke the silence. If you don't mind, I'd like to be alone now, he uttered, still gazing at the photograph. She just nodded and stood up. Before leaving, she told copper that if he needed anything, she would be here for him no matter what. He looked up at her and gave her a warm smile saying thank you. Goodbye now, said twilight. Copper rested the photograph on his hind legs as he listened to twilight leaving. The door closed. He was finally alone. He closed his eyes for the last time, flashbacks playing back and forth in his mind, of his life. The last thing he did was smile on his past. Several hours later, copper died. He died happier than ever because he knew that he had a good life. //-------------------------------------------------------// who's that old stallion ? //-------------------------------------------------------// who's that old stallion ? It was a frosty autumn evening. Lights glowing and light up the streets all over ponyville. Not many ponies were outside due to it being so chilly. On the outskirts of ponyville, was a large house. The house was never lit that much and hardly any signs of life came from it. This was the residence of an old stallion named copper vineleaf. Copper was never noticed in ponyville. He hardly ever left his house. Some say his been here for many years. Others say he lived in some unknown land and moved here, until he finally dies. One day twilight sparkle was walking along, books in hand as usual, when she noticed a sign that read "stay off". She thought to herself, why would someone put up a sign quite like this one. Just then, she heard a door close infront of her. A shadow still visible through a window on the door. She couldn't remember who lives here. She didn't even know if she knew who lived here. Anyways, her curiosity got the best of her, so she layed down here books and went and clopped on the door. A soft but understandable mumble came from inside. Go away, the unknown pony said. Twilight thought this was rude but kept calm and asked the unknown pony if, she could get to know this supposed stallion, a little better. The house was quite for moment but then, the door began to rattle, and started opening. Before twilight, stood a tall old green stallion with a copper mane. What do you want the stallion uttered. Twilight responded. hello, im twilight sparkle. Nice to meet you. The stallion sighed. I'm copper vineleaf. Twilight smiled. May I come in. Yeah, why not. Twilight walked in, and noticed a giant cabinet with many photo frames in it. Is this you ? She asked. Yes, but that was me long ago. I havent seen you around town lately, well never really seen you anywhere. Who are you? My dear, im just an old stallion, living out his last days in this lovely town. But you must have a story, twilight asked eagerly. You might want to sit down..and cancel any plans you have, your gonna be here a while. I have time to spare, don't worry,  she said.
