Equestria wasn't always united as it is today. In days long past, there was only the land of Equus. The Pony race was of three tribes: Pegasi, in their Castles of Clouds, claiming the sky as theirs. The Unicorns, taking to the eastern peaks of Ice for their own, and the Earthwalkers, who called the southern farmlands their home.

But they were not the only creatures to walk these lands.

The Griffon Leader Dreadclaw wanted the land of the Pegasi for his own. His armies were growing daily, and conflict was fast approaching.
