It was a wonderful day in Ponyville! Sun shining, no rain scheduled and so many Happy ponies trotting to and fro, every pony.. except for Bon Bon… The cream colored mare huffed and stomped angrily to the kitchen, silverware a mess and dishes to be cleaned, she felt her anger rise thinking about how she’s the only one that ever cleans the house or does dishes.. or ANYTHING for that matter. At that moment her housemate Lyra trotted in the door. “oh hey Bon Bon” she said with a smile and wave.
“hey Lyra…” Bon Bon peeped out, her anger disappearing at the sight of the unicorn… her unicorn. In the other room Lyra had made herself comfortable on the couch, sitting the strange way she usually does, she flipped through the newspaper and found the latest article on the wonderbolts. “Lyra…” Bon Bon leaned on the doorway and looked down to the floor. Lyra looked up with a bright smile, a smile she wore so well. “what’s up BB?” Lyra put the newspaper down and patted the cushion next to her.
Bon Bon trotted to the couch and laid next her best and closest friend. “I had a hard day at the Trotting Taco..” Seeing as it was the first day the taco stand had opened it had been a very busy day. Lyra frowned. “oh what happened?” she looked lovingly at her housemate. Bon Bon shined a slight smile knowing that it was going to be okay as long as Lyra was around. “well we were super busy.. and I was all new to making tacos and I just. I felt useless..” Bon Bon’s eyes welled up a bit, Lyra embraced her in a tight hug and whispered. “It’ll be okay.. shhhh I’m here.”
The two mares cuddled on the couch for the remainder of the afternoon, enjoying eachothers company and nuzzling against one another again.. and again. The next day came around and the sun penetrated the bedroom window, cutting through the lovely covers that were thrown over Bon Bon’s head jerking her to the actual world. “ugh…..” she groaned as she realized it was a new day and that means… a new work day.. She just wanted to stay in bed all day with this wonderful mare named Lyra.. Bon Bon glanced down and smiled at her housemate curled up around her back legs.
“Lyra…” Bon Bon moaned as she tried to remove the mare that cut off her circulation. “LYRAAA” the mare let out an annoyed whine that always seems to piss the other off. Lyra opened an eye and squinted. “shut up….” Bon Bon giggled and slipped from the covers. As usual Bon Bon cooked breakfast while Lyra just sat around smiling and kissing her lovers cheek every now and then. “what time do you work?” Lyra peeped “oh in about 30 minutes…” her smile turned to a frown, “I guess I’ll get used to it.. but hopefully it isn’t that busy..” Lyra patted Bon Bon’s shoulder and smiled. “you’ll do great!” with this helpful bit of advice she got her apron and was off out the door.
Ponyville was bustling, mares and stallions trotting here and there making their way to different jobs, relationships and better things really. Bon Bon made it to the taco stand, it was brand new, all metal, but it was small… cramped really, only room for about 3 ponies. “Welcome back!” she heard a familiar voice, it was Vinyl. “what’s up?” she said smiling and patting the mares side. Bon Bon wasn’t much of a socialite.. sort of an introvert really. “you ready to make some tacos??!” Vinyl said a lil bit too excited. Bon Bon just stared at her with empty eyes. “well fuck it.. I tried..” Vinyl said going stone faced and trotting back inside.
Bon Bon sort of giggled at Vinyls reaction to her empty stare, she loved looking dumb sometimes. She trotted into the small stand and got to her station, she was the shell toaster today… that meant she had the easy job of just warming the shell’s before moving them onto the next pony to put the veggies in. Vinyl was to her right and to her right was Derpy, she was in charge of the register today… which was going to be difficult seeing as her speech hadn’t fully returned.
Bon Bon slid the tacos into the toaster and set it for a the allotted time and just stared at Vinyl.. that empty.. unblinking stare… Vinyl glanced over a couple times and finally broke out into a full out laugh “jeez just stop already!” she chuckled as she stood back up and started putting the veggies in. The first customer of the day trotted up, it was Big Mac. Derpy gave a bright nod as she motioned to the menu with her hoofs and then pointed to herself. Big Mac nodded and looked the menu over. “well.. I guess I’ll just have that carrot Taco special” Derpy smiled as the red stallion handed over his bits and Vinyl handed him his Taco “there ya go! have a great day!” Vinyl said through gritted teeth.
The day shuffled by slowly.. painfully.. the only thing that got Bon Bon through the day was thinking about Lyra. Speaking of the devil she saw the other mare walking by… with what looked like Soarin? from the wonderbolts? Bon Bon squinted and thought she saw Lyra peck Soarins cheek. This infuriated the mare behind the taco toaster.. so much so that she broke some of the tacos. “whoa! simmer down there..” Vinyl said holding her hooves up. Bon Bon growled and stomped her hooves to the floor as she burst out the back door and slumped on a bench.
Tears were all that Bon Bon could see.. tears then a blue mane flashing in front of her, “you okay??” Vinyl asked sitting next her coworker. Bon Bon held back her tears as she tried to choke out her words. “Lyra…*huff* Soarin…*huff*” she just burst out in another wave of tears. Vinyl patted her back as Derpy poked her head out of the Taco stand and motioned for Vinyl but she waved her off. “shh not now Derpy..” the gray mare shrugged and went back to the taco stand and started doing everything herself, in moments the taco stand was a mess.
“here.. take the day off.. okay? I can see you’re going through some stuff..” Bon Bon nodded as Vinyl slipped back into the taco stand, leaving her coworker to herself. She couldn’t help but fall into the deep well of depression… she didn’t know what was wrong with her.. she shouldn’t be down.. she shouldn’t be sad or anything.. but somehow she is.. for some reason.. she felt like she was nothing… useless.. a nobody… and Lyra was the only pony that really cared… really acknowledged her as somepony.. sure she could be overreacting and soaring could just be a friend but.. they were too close when they were trotting by..
Bon Bon’s sadness and depression slowly started turning to anger as she stomped off to the graveyard… the one place she could talk to the only other pony that could understand her besides Lyra… she grimaced at the thought of the mare and stallion kissing.. horrible…. horrible.
