Remember Me

I sat at the grand piano its pristine aqua surface glowing brightly as I played one last time, for her, my little sister. With all my strength and will I played my last recital before the curtain closes.

My fingers danced along the ivory keys, tears welling in my eyes as I knew once she entered that window I would be but a memory to her, I turned to my right the masked lady stood next to me, watching my little sister leave for the life she has ahead, and the ones she left behind.

I watched her draw further and further away from me, i watched helplessly as she broke into tears. I watched myself change into the person she remembered me as, her big brother ignoring this I kept playing. her face turned from surprise into recognition, she remembers what happened that fateful day.the day we went out shopping, the day i bought her that cat plushie, the day a truck ran into the both of us as we walked, the day that little girl lost the big brother she loved so dearly.

I smiled at her reassuringly, it was going to be okay the expression said, but it wasn't I feared that she would regret returning from her condition, remembering who she lost that day.

As the void began to consume me I closed my eyes waiting for my conscience to dissolve, it was up to her now how she would control her life without me.....

My eyes were heavy and I slowly opened them, the first sound I heard was the beeping of a heart rate monitor, shifting around the bed I was heavily bandaged and an oxygen mask was strapped to my face, I felt something die inside me..... but what was it?

I remembered the dream I had, I fell from a window and into the arms of a black figure. He played music for me on his piano it sounded so familiar, a tree began to grow from the piano the Deemo made it grow and grow as he played music to it until the leaves covered the ceiling we climbed up the tree and  another room revealed itself to us, Deemo kept growing it until it could grow no more.

A vast sky welcomed us, a lone

And like a tonne of bricks it hit me, I remembered.

"B-brother?" I asked the emptiness "W-where are you?" my eyes beginning to water as memories rushed into my head

I remembered his smiling face behind the piano as I floated away from him before he faded. the sad thing was, it was all a dream, I kept shouting for him, praying that he could walk in and give me a hug, hold my hand and play a song on his piano, but it would never happen it was just a dream.

I couldn't stop crying as I sobbed into my pillow, I heard the doors open as nurses swarmed in. I didn't want their comfort I just wanted to see my big brother again his warm smile and his loving embrace.

One of the nurses nurses walked in carrying that same cat doll from that same day, snatching it from her I held it close to me as I cried and wailed myself to sleep, I couldn't stop thinking about him. the hings I would do to hear the tune of his piano to lull me to sleep, but only the chaotic pitter patter of rain outside could be heard.
