Flare's Messed Up Life
Chapter 2: A Fresh Start
Previous ChapterFlare entered the town of Ponyville just as Celestia started to raise the sun. Ponies were starting to open up their shops and the town seemed lively. But then suddenly, Flare had only one question that he didn’t even consider at all the night previous. Where was he going to stay?
“Ponyville has no alleys, so where am I supposed to hide from the public?” He said to no one in particular. Flare decided to circle around the town so no one notices him. After a bit of searching around, Flare found what he can only describe has a really big knocked over trash can. But instead of it smelling horrendous, it smelled nice and fresh and was cleaned up very well.
Flare just shrugged it off and put his things down here. He opened up his traveling case and pulled out his sleeping bag. The orange unicorn stayed up all night getting here and he thought he deserved some rest. Flare got snugged in and slowly closed his eyes in which he almost instantly fell asleep.
“Hello? Are you awake?” He faintly heard a mare say. Flare opened his eyes to see an orange mare about his age, with a purple mane. “Finally, you’re awake! Took you long enough.
Flare got out of his sleeping bag and asked the mysterious mare, “Who are you?”
“My name is Scootaloo. You are?” she simply asked back.
“Flare’s the name. Nice to meet you here… wait why are you here?” Flare asked Scootaloo, confused as you couldn’t see the opening of the… thing from the town.
“Well... I sorta… live here.” The Pegasus mare replied back, hesitantly. “The real question is, why are you here?”
“Well… um, uhh…” Flare took in a deep breath, and explained that night to Scootaloo. He explained it in every horrifying detail. “That’s pretty much it.” Flare ended the story. He then looked up to see Scootaloo with her jaw dropped. “Scootaloo?” He asked, waving a hoof in front of the orange filly’s face.
“Oh, sorry. I sorta zoned out there.” She apologized. “Anyway, I’m really sorry for what happened to you.
“It’s really nothing.” Flare insisted. After a long few moments, he broke the silence. “That reminds me, what time is it?”
“9 PM.” Scootaloo answered. “We should probably hit the hay now.” She suggested.
“Yeah, we probably should.” The unicorn colt agreed. The two went over to their respective sleeping bags.
“Goodnight” Flare said.
“Goodnight” The filly answered back. After that, they both slowly drifted into a deep sleep.
Flare was awoken by the sound of birds chirping. He took a few moments to take in the fresh air of Ponyville. He eventually got his way out of his sleeping bag. He looked to his right to see Scootaloo about to leave. “Good morning.” He said. Scootaloo jumped a bit.
“Oh, you’re up!” She said, putting her saddlebag down.
“Were you about to leave for school?” Flare asked her.
“Yes. Are you going to come with me?” Scootaloo suggested.
“Um, why not?” He said. Flare put his saddlebags on and then followed the Pegasus to the schoolhouse.
The two walked into the schoolhouse and saw that they were the first ones there. Flare went over to the teacher’s desk to introduce himself. “Hi. My name is Flare. I am a new student here.”
“Welcome my little pony! My name is Ms. Cherilee. Class will be starting soon so please take a seat over… there.” Ms. Cherilee welcomed Flare with. He did as he was told, and sat down in the chair that he was told to sit in. It just so happened to be that his seat was in the back of the classroom.
Flare sat there watching as foal after foal came into the classroom. After a little while, everypony was seated and their proper place. “Maybe this won’t be bad after all.” Flare thought.
