Lost in Perception
I see it in her eyes—a quality of character unlike anything I've encountered before. Yes, she’s smart and well-behaved, as every proud parent would say, but there’s more to her than that. At the tender age of eleven, her overall attitude towards life is even more developed than most adults I've seen.
For as long as I can remember, I haven’t been able to talk to others on an intellectual level. When an interaction becomes necessary, my mind draws a blank, and the knowledge I've accrued over the years inexplicably vanishes from my grasp. Even the most rudimentary conversations become difficult, and I always end up making a complete fool of myself.
Though it has significantly hindered my success in life, I won’t allow it to trouble me any longer. All that matters to me now is ensuring a safe, happy future for my daughter. I’d sacrifice everything to help realize her potential.
Still, it would be a pleasant change if I were one day recognized for who I am.
