Chapter Six: Safer in the Clouds

Fluttershy moseyed her way over to when Derpy had fallen asleep. She collapsed next to the grey pony, and didn’t wake until morning.

“Fluttershy! Fluttershy!” An excited voice called. Fluttershy instantly recognized it as Derpy’s. Most of her wounds were healed, and the fur was starting to grow back. Pony magic was a truly wonderful thing.

“Come on!” Derpy shouted.

“What is it, Derpy?” Fluttershy asked as her mind started to wake up.

“Come on! There is someone who wants to see you!” She shouted. Fluttershy hobbled to her feet. It had to be Sebastian.

“Come on!” Derpy shouted for the last time. Fluttershy took off after her. The two fillies ran through the forest to where Sebastian stood.

“Fluttershy, I see you have a friend.” Sebastian said as the two Pegasi ran up to him.

“You meet Derpy?” She asked, taking heavy breaths.

“Yes. She’s really funny.”

“ ‘She’ is right here.” Derpy interjected, slightly annoyed. Both Sebastian and Fluttershy laughed. Derpy had a way with making any pony (or anybody in this case) laugh.

It had been forever since Sebastian had laughed. It had been at least nine months, maybe a year, maybe more. That didn't matter. He was laughing now.

“Wait,” Fluttershy wondered out loud, “What time is it?” Poor Fluttershy had just realized that it was still dark outside.

Sebastian laughed again. The silly pony didn't know what time it was. He couldn't blame her. He didn't really know what time it was either.

“It is really early in the morning." - Sebastian really hoped that was accurate - "I came out to see you, Fluttershy, but I found Derpy instead.”

“Good thing too.” Derpy said with a smile, “If Sebastian here hadn't found me, he may never have found you.”

They all burst out into laughter again. It felt good to laugh. Heaven knows that they all needed it. They laughed for a time, but not to long, or too loud. They could have all been caught and killed in a heartbeat.

“So, Derpy told me you two stay in the forest.” Sebastian said after the spurt of laughter.

“Yeah.” Fluttershy replied.

“You shouldn’t. They almost always check the forest at night. Last night was an exception. They had all been to busy with the runaway man. In fact you should just leave.” He warned.

Derpy said, “We can’t just leave. We have nowhere to go.”
“Go!” Sebastian snarled, “Go Anywhere. Anywhere but here.” He didn't know what provoked him to anger. Maybe it was the happiness that the two ponies had, and he was devoid of. Maybe it was the fact, that eventually they would have to leave. Or maybe it was the growing fear in him that they were not real at all.

“Don’t be so mad, Sebastian.” Fluttershy said in her soft, sweet voice, “We don't want to leave. We would get lost, and we would have to leave you.”

“Yeah,” Derpy agreed, “You seem nice too.”

“And you need some good in this horrible place.” FLuttershy continued. She hoped with all her heart that Sebastian wouldn’t tell them to leave again.

“Stay,” Sebastian said after a time, “But don't stay in the forest. Stay up in the clouds. There is an awful lot of them lately.”

“Okie, dokie!” The ponies said in unison.

“You’ll be safer up in the clouds.” Sebastian muttered to himself. He really hoped these ponies were not some day dream he had made up to keep his sanity.
