A mint green coated mare with a very long pink and white striped mane tied in a ponytail and laying gracefully over her shoulder, sat reading a letter from a friend.
Dear Minty,
Things are going great in Manehatten for me. I have become very popular as I go on. How are things for you in Ponyville? Is it as relaxing as you hoped?
With love from your friend,
Thislewisle
The green mare smiled and picked up a pen in her hoof, writing;
Dear Thislewisle,
It’s not exactly what I expected. Nopony really notices me here. It’s as if I don’t exist.
Lots of love to you,
Minty
Minty folded the letter, placing it in an envelop and put it in her saddle bag.
"I have to go get more candy anyway, I might as well stop by the post office," she said to herself, tightening her saddle bag. She trotted outside her home on Main Street and strolled down to the Ponyville post office. Inside behind the desk stood a grey pegasus mare with a blond mane, gold wall eyes. On her flank was her bubble Cutie Mark.
"Hi! How can I help you today?" she asked.
"I just want to mail this letter to Manehatten" Minty said, giving the mare the letter.
"Can I have your name, please," the gray mare asked.
“Minty Peppermint," Minty said, groaning under her breath.
"Thank you. I will get this mailed in a jiffy for you, miss, uh, sorry, I forgot your name," she said sheepishly.
"It’s fine. I'm used to it. It’s Miny." Minty said as she began to walk out, but was stopped by the mare speaking.
"Derpy" the gray mare said.
"What?" Minty asked, confused.
"My name. It’s Derpy. Derpy Hooves" the grey mare said.
"Oh well its nice to meet you Derpy, again I am Minty" Minty smiled
"Okay! I will try to remember it, Minty. Bye" Derpy smiled kindly, waving her hoof.
"Bye Derpy" Minty returned the smile as she walked out of the post office and down to the market.
As she walked she looked around to see if anything caught her eye or her interest but nothing did. She trotted up to the candy stand she noticed that Bon Bon the candy maker wasn’t there. Instead a pink pony with an overly curly and fluffy pink mane had taken her place today. Minty thought nothing of it and started looking at the mint candies but was interrupted by the pink mare.
"Hi ya, Minty! What would you like to get today?" the pink mare asked. Minty looked at the mare, astonished.
"How—how did you know my name?" Minty asked astonished.
"Uh duh, I'm Pinkie Pie!! I know every one in Ponyvile," Pinkie giggled and handed minty a large bag of mints of all kinds.
"Bon Bon told me you where a regular here and said you always get her mint candies, so she told me to put five of each mint in the bag. It’s on the house, Minty," Pinkie grinned widely.
"Th—thanks Pinkie Pie. It was nice meeting you" Minty said starting to walk away with her bag of candy. Pinkie perked up and went to stop Minty.
"Minty, wait! Princess Twilight wanted to talk to you later,”
"What? She wants to meet with me?" the green mare asked, shocked.
"Yeah! She said something about you hosting the winter party for Ponyville" Pinkie replied, unfazed.
“HOLY CELESTIA! PRINCESS TWILIGHT WANTS ME TO HOST THE WINTER PARTY?!?!!” Minty shouted excitedly, moving her hooves up and down.
"Yeah, just be sure to go now," Pinkie went under the stand and got more candy out and put it up front, but when she put her head back up Minty was gone. As Minty ran off she bumped into many other ponies, apologizing quickly to each one.
When she got to the castle of Princess Twilight Sparkle, she knocked on the doors and waited for an answer. A royal guard answered the door.
"State your name and business here citizen" the royal guard asked, but the only thing off about him was he wasn't wearing a helmet and just the chest and hoof armor.
"Uhh, I'm Minty Peppermint and I'm here to discus the winter Ponyville party—and why are you missing your helmet?" Minty asked her face turning a red color of embarrassment from blushing at the stallion’s features.
“Huh?" The guard glanced up, noticing his missing helmet. “Oh, I guess I forgot to put it on this morning,” The stallion said blushing and looking away a bit. He glanced back to Minty. "You said your name was Minty Peppermint? Yes the princess wanted to see you. Please, follow me," the stallion said showing Minty in and too the thrown room. Minty looked at the colt and blushed again. "Oh Celestia, he is so cute. But I don't think he would notice me. I'm a nopony." Minty thought to herself. She flinched as she the stallion’s voice brought her out of her daze.
"We are here Miss Minty" The colt said opening the door for her.
"Thank you— uh, I never got your name," Misty said gesturing that she wanted to hear his name.
"Oh. Ash cloud. My name is Ash Cloud," Ash replied.
"Well thank you Ash Cloud" Minty said, smiling at him.
"You’re welcome, Miss Minty" Ash Cloud returned her smile, closing the door. Minty walked into the room and bowed before the saviors of Ponyville (minus Pinkie).
"Princess you wished to speak with me?" Minty asked standing up.
"Yes Minty we want you to host the winter party for Ponyville, I wouldn't have anyone else but you do it" Twilight said, smiling at Minty.
"Well duh, Twilight. She’s perfect I mean winter always has peppermint candy and it’s her name so, yeah," a rainbow maned mare was flying up around Twilight.
Twilight glared at the rainbow pegasus, annoyed, "Rainbow Dash that isn't why I picked her to do this," Twilight lit her horn, pulling Rainbow down by the tail with her magic. "I picked her because she knows Ponyville and its history, right Minty
"I know everything there is to know about Ponyville,"
"Good. You will be working with three of my friends. Pinkie Pie, whom I'm positive you have already met. She will help you with the party planning and decorations. You will also be working with Applejack Ponyville’s greatest apple farmer, she will help you with the foods, and last but not least, you will have Rainbow Dash working with you on entertainment" Twilight said, gesturing to each of the mares.
"Okay. So when should I start?" the mint green mare asked, barely able to contain her excitment.
"Tomorrow, bright and early," Twilight smiled, winking at Minty.
"I'm always up early,"
"Wonderful. You may go now,"
"Thank you, Princess" Minty said, bowing again.
"Please call me ‘Twilight’, Minty" Twilight grinned.
"You’re very welcome, Minty" Twilight said, smiling and going back to her work.
As Minty walked out she bumped into something hard and mettle, falling down onto her flank.
“Ow,” she rubbed her head.
“Oh! Miss Minty! I’m so sorry. Here, let me help you up,” Ash Cloud reached his hoof down to the green mare.
“Thanks,” Minty smiled, grabbing Ash’s hoof. Ash Cloud smiled gently and continued on his way.
As Minty walked into her home and closed the door, she sat down and clutched her arms around her chest.
“Best. Day. Ever.” She squealed happily, excited as to what would come in the following days.
