T'was a sunny Friday afternoon. Cottonball clouds floated in the sky, many couples and friends laying on the well tended grass for picnics. Laughter echoed off the walls of houses and throughout Ponyville. A certain pastel pink party mare hopped around the small town wearing goofy glasses and a gift box around her torso. Brightly colored streamers were tangled in her messy mane and water flippers were loosely fit around her hooves. She had balloons tied to the base of her base of her tail and a kazoo in her mouth, strung around her neck.
"'Cuz I love to make you smile, smile, smile! Yes I do!
It fills me heart with sunshine all the while, yes it does!" The bright pony sang.
The whole of Ponyville was shining brighter than the goddess' sun with smiles, Pinkie Pie bouncing around the tourist's attraction town. After all, it was Pinkie's lifelong dream.
They don't mean those smiles
The rest of the town harmonized the song, laughing with glee and shining with smiles.
They're all faking it
Pinkie hopped along the dirt path, the rest of Ponyville marching behind her happily.
Just give it a rest.
Twilight, Rarity, Applejack and Fluttershy hopped alongside her. She didn't see Rainbow Dash but dismissed it, as she was probably napping on a low lying cloud. But what was this? Rainbow Dash wasn't napping on a low lying cloud, but rather crying in a corner!
"Ohmigawsh! Dashie!" Pinkie called, interrupting the song. She raced over to the cyan pegasus, solemnly weeping. "Dashie? Are you okay?"
Rainbow Dash looked up, startled. She saw the party mare and said, "Yeah, I'm fine. J-just a bad day."
"Oh. Then party! A party by Pinkie is sure to make you smile!" Pinkie Pie said. She manifested her cannon out of thin air (don't question it, it's Pinkie Logic) and smacked down on the "button". A mix of confetti and balloons exploded from the cannon, caking Rainbow Dash in multi-colored streamers. She let out a deep, emotional sigh, looked Pinkie in the eyes, and smiled, a fake one.But Pinkie didn't realize that. (SHHHHH Don't tell her!)
"Thanks Pinkie. I guess," she shrugged, opening her wings and flying off.
How blind are you? She smiled a fake smile! Of all people, I had to be stuck with you.
Pinkie's ears perked and swiveled, looking for the source of the sound. It sounded insanely close, but then again, far away. "Huh?"
Are you deaf too?
"How come you're louder than when I first heard you?" Pinkie asked quizzically,
What do you mean? asked the feminine but dull voice.
"Well, you used to be all no one smiles meh meh boring but now you're like hurr she's not smiling"
I don't sound like that!
"Do too!"

"Do too!"
Damn, this is sad. You're arguing with your conscious.
"You're my conscious?"

"...... Oh." she mumbled, squeeing. "Then why are you so sad and depressing?"
Besides color scheme, I'm basically the exact opposite of you.
"Really? Can other people hear you?"
No. Which I'm pretty sure that's why they're giving you weird looks.
"Pinkie? What was that?" Twilight asked, trotting up to her with a puzzled look on her face. "About 7 minutes ago, you were singing a song, now you're talking to yourself!"
"Really?" Pinkie said, blue eyes sparkling. She closed her eyes and gave a cute smile. "Sorry, babe!"
"Babe? What? Since when am I your babe?" she voiced her thoughts, staring at Pinkie after shaking her head.
"Sorry, I was just thinking about cute you are when you're confused!" she snickered.
"Are you saying you like me?"
"Sure!"
"Yes or no?"
"I said sure."
"Yes or no?"
"Fine, yes."
"You like me?"
"It's a date?"
"What?"
"Tomorrow at noon, Sugarcube Corner! Is it a date?"
"Sure?"
"Cool! See ya tomorrow!"
Twilight just stood there. Pinkie had talked a date out of her, when all she wanted to do was get on with the song. She watched as the pastel pink mare hopped away, a smile plastered on her face. "What just happened?"

Pinkie Pie lay on her bed, looking up at her ceiling. She had got a date out of Twilight, and gotten all of Ponyville to smile. She stuck her hooves out in front of her, slightly waving to them. Her lips were positioned in a quizzical look, the look she had used on Twilight during the confusing love conversation. Her big aqua eyes were transfixed on the poster she had stuck to her ceiling using tape. It showed all of her friends racing, with Dashie just barely in front of Applejack, who was a few noses in front of Pinkie. Twilight and Rarity had fallen behind, with Fluttershy just in front of them. They all had smiles plastered on their faces, except for Applejack, who was intent on winning.
"That had to be one of the best days ever!" Pinkie smiled, closing her eyes and remembering the day. "I'm so glad Spike caught that photo at the right time, us all in one picture. He can really work with photos, all that editing and perfecting." Her hooves danced in the air, twitching smoothly with every word.
Ugh. I remember that day, it had to be one of the worst.
"You're louder."
What?
"Well last time you were all they don't care and now you're like meh meh bad days bleh"
Again, I don't sound like that!
"Eeeyes you do."
No I don't. the dull voice replied.
"Yes you do~"
This is getting really annoying.
"You're just a big, dull, depressing lemon head!" Pinkie taunted.
Screw you too.
"Not nice!"
You called me a lemon head.
"In all fun," she huffed.
Whatever, I just came to say that I overheard your friends saying how annoying you are.
"They wouldn't say that!"
Really? Then how come I heard this? the voice said, putting on a recorder like voice and mimicking her friends. Yeah! Pinkie's like, Omg go out with me! and I'm all like beach pleease, I ain't got time fer dat. Hah! Priceless! I can't believe that walking cotton candy would think you LIKE her! Now ther', I bet it was jus' a prank. A stupid prank. Ugh, she's sooo annoying.
"They wouldn't say that!"
Somebody's in denial! Everybody knows you're only a stick of annoying cotton candy, even you're "friends" just admitted it.
Pinkie snapped. "Just go away! I know they would never say that, because true friends don't backtalk! No one likes you, Pinkamena!"
The voice was silent. Pinkamena... I like that name. I think it'll stick
"That's what you got out of that?" Pinkie yelled to herself. "Just go!"
Fine, fine. the voice said, disappearing.
"What if she's right, what if I'm just annoying cotton candy?"

Pinkie thought about that for a while. Pinkamena said her friends only found her annoying, something to place at the entrance of a door, and walk all over it. A doormat. No! she told herself sharply. My friends love me and value me as a pony. Not a doormat.

"I thought I told you to go away," Pinkie growled.

".... Did they actually say that? All those things?"
Of course they did. Who wouldn't? You're a stupid, party obsessed pink pony who thinks she can score a date with a princess.
"Once again, you're louder."
I feed off of self doubt. Pinkamena flicked Pinkie's head. You make for a tasty meal.
"Do I self doubt that much?"
Yep! You know, everything I say is true!

Pinkie stuck her tongue out in reply, forgetting Pinkamena couldn't see her.

What if Pinkamena wasn't lying? Pinkie thought despairingly. It wouldn't be the first time,like that time a few episodes back when they all ditched me for Cheese. It's not my fault I don't have bits stuffed in my pockets for new party supplies. Pinkie shook her head. She was overreacting.
Again? Damn you're sad. It makes me happy.
"It's not my fault I'm sensitive."
If it makes you so sad, then jump!Off a cliff! Off a bridge! Fly! Then harshly drop into raging rapids or cringe-worthy cliffs!
"And hurt my friends? Never!"
I thought we just established they don't care about you.
"So? Even if it is a one-sided friendship, I love to see them smile!"
I am mentally facehoofing about that last sentence. If someone doesn't like you, don't keep liking them. Burn them. Push them. Bake them. Just KILL them! Or jump. Kill yourself. THAT'S how you do it.
"That's not what Ms. and Mr. Cake said! They said just keep smiling!"
They. Are. Wrong. Do it, Pinkie. Don't believe me? Go try to throw Twilight or Applejack a party.

Thump. Thump. Thump. went the crystal door as Pinkie waited outside with her party cannon. A lavender aura encased the door, tugging it open.
"Hey Pinkie. What do y-" Twilight was cut off with an explosion of candy and streamers encased her. They danced in the air, loopty-looping and spinning. "Pinkie...."
"Do you need a party? I need to throw a party. I'm pretty sure you need a party. Say you need a party!"
"I don't need a party, Pinkie." Twilight said flatly. "I'm filing taxes and signing new laws."
"You need a party!"
"I don't need a party." And with that, the crystal door was slammed into it's rightful place.
Score one for Pinkamena, zerooooo for you! Zero zero zero! Zero zero zero!
In reply, Pinkie huffed. "Close your mouth. We're going to see Applejack now."

Tok tok tok tok tok tok tok tok Pinkie rapidly pounded on the house door of Applejack, but instead of Applejack's orange, thick hoof, a shaggy red hoof creaked open the door.
"Howdy Miss Pie. What can I do ya fer?"
"Silly Big Mac! It doesn't cost anything to do me!" PInkamena said, through Pinkie's body. The pastel pony shoved a hoof in her mouth. "I-i-i mean... um.... can I talk to Applejack?" she said shakily.
"Sure... Miss Pie... I didn't appreciate that comment though," he growled. "You better not cross that line ever again."
"Y-yes, of course!" Pinkie panted.
"AJ is out in the field, bucking trees.
"Th-th-thank you..." she said, turning around and shuffling away. She could feel Big Mac's emerald green gaze burning holes in her coat. She soon got to Applejack, who was finishing up the West orchard. "Hey AJ!"
"Oh, howdy Pinkie! How ya'll be doin' on this fine day?"
"Mighty fine! Do you need a party?"
"Well... not really. I'm workin' now."
"Oh... 'kay then!"
Thats 2 for me and nooone fooor youuuuuu! Pinkamena sang, the words ringing through out Pinkie's mind.
"Shut up!"
"Pardon?" Applejack asked, her eyebrow raised.
"Heh... er... nothing...." she stuttered.
"What in tarnation is happening? Like, with you." She said, jabbing a hoof at her.
"Nothing, you can g-get back to working, I'll just leave...."
Applejack was staring into her eyes. She nervously backed away, turned, and ran. Fast.

"Why-why'd you do that?" Pinkie gasped, laying on her bed in a fetal position.
"The more I torture you, the more self doubt you have. The more self doubt you have, the more I can control you." Pinkie found the words coming out of her own mouth.
"What are you doing?" the party mare asked, feeling Pinkamena picking herself off the bed and walk out the door. It was stiff and choppy, and she ended up falling many times walking down the stairs. Pinkamena, stop! She realized that it didn't come out of her mouth, but rather just a thought.
"Stupid pony."
W-what? No... stop! Pinkamena, go back to Sugarcube corner! Pinkamena! W-where are you going?
"Quiet, you."
W-why are we at Ghastly Gorge? Pinkie asked, after a while of silence.
"Shut up." Pinkamena growled.
No.. no...no....
"Stop!" Pinkie cried out, actually using her voice. She had enough control to back away from the edge. Any normal pony would have seen the party mare talking to herself, her mane flat, then poofy. Flat, then poofy. They would've seen her fur and mane growing darker, then lighter. It was a cycle that seemed to never end, until once, when her mane was flat and her color dull, she jumped.
And soared.
And to Pinkamena, it felt wonderful.
To Pinkie, it felt horrible.
And with a loud boom and an explosion of colors, she was gone.
