A young filly laid on the bed, with a few tears leaking from her eyes. Her weak body was caked in bruises and even a few cuts, which bled as the young filly looked down at them. Her once beautiful white coat was a mess of bruises and cuts, it was saddening but the worst part was the fact that her wings were broken, and she didn't even have a bandage supporting them.
This young filly was called Unknown, for the simple reason of not having a name at birth. She was an white alicorn filly with a straight yet slightly curled pink and purple two-toned mane. Her eyes were a beautiful green normally, but at the moment they were red from crying. As Unknown cried silently, the door cracked open.
A group of about 5 foals walked in, all covered in cuts and bruises like Unknown. The reason behind the bruises and cuts was there caretaker. The group of 6 lived in a orphanage in the Cantorlot outskirts. Most of the foals had been there all their life, with the exception of one, a slightly mean filly by the name of Pepper Mint, she had arrived on her sixth birthday after a accident which killed her parents. The group had been friends for four years now, sometimes protecting one another from the beatings that the owner would give them if they didn't do their jobs right.
Unknown frowned as she looked down at her friends from her top bunk of the bunk bed which she shared with Pepper. The group looked back at her with tear filled eyes, with the exception of Pepper who was holding back her tears.
''W-why...does he keep...doing this?..'' cried the youngest child, a small filly by the name of Jasmine.
''...I don't know.....'' mumbled another one, the second youngest and Jasmine's best friend, Ruby.
''Us too....'' mumbled a sleepy pair of twins, Faith and Hope.
''Guys, we should just go to bed...'' said Pepper, still trying to hold her tears.
Hope and Faith nodded in agreement and went to their bunk bed which they shared. Jasmine and Ruby also nodded and headed over to their bunk, which was by the window whilst Pepper settled down on her bed. Unknown watched her friends, sadly. She hated how the owner would abuse them, but she didn't have much choice on leaving; the only way out was running away and even she knew that living on the streets were worse, she had tried it a few years prior.
Flashback, Unknown's (I hate calling her this!) pov. 3 years prior.
I ran for my life, I had just ran away from that horrible orphanage, where I grew up without a true name, with the help of my best friend, Pepper. I didn't want to leave everypony behind but I had little to no choice, if multiply ponies went then it would increase the risk of being found, I didn't want that.
I suddenly tripped over a open can, cutting my back leg which began to weep blood. I winced in pain as I landed on my already broken wing. I small cry left my throat, but I slowly got onto my hooves weakly. The newly created wound weep a lot of blood, making me a bit dizzy but I had to go on, I couldn't let him find me.
I broke into a run, my vision weakening by the second but I kept going forward and forward. Suddenly, pain cracked through my body. My wing again!? I hate this, why couldn't he take me to the hospital. Hes reasoning; he didn't have the money! Except he does, he just doesn't want me to learn how to fly, after all I'm the only member of the little group to own wings. Hope and Faith are both unicorn, who are identical literally. And everypony else are earth ponies.
Like me having a broken wing, the twins cannot use their magic. The boss managed to disable their magic at a young age; well, most of it. They could speak telepathically, I have no idea why but they can. But enough about that.
I continued my running, through the dark streets of Cantorlot. With my leg and wing hurting, it was painful but I couldn't give up. I had to get away, maybe I could meet my parents if I ran. Oh yea, on the subject of my parents. They left me on the boss's doorstep as a small infant, I have heard of a great pony war back then but I won't believe they left me and died without saying goodbye.
I continued running and eventually came by a brown cardboard box, which was bent and bust but it could do for the night, I suppose. I sighed gently, and mumbled quietly to myself, ''Well, It's better then nothing...''. I carefully got inside the small box, and curled myself into a ball. Moonlight shone into the alleyway, just as I settled down for the night, falling to sleep pretty quickly.
A few days later
Ugh, I think my dizziness has double it's strength. I'm hungry, no staving would be a better term, still in pain with my wing, not to mention I haven't had more then a sip of water in 2 days. Maybe...maybe, running away wasn't a good idea after all. Maybe...I should back, I thought to myself. I shook my head.
''No...I ran away to get away from...that abuse..'' I mumbled, weakly.
I got myself slowly onto my hooves and took a step forward, only to collapse once more. Landing straight on my broken wing, I even heard a crack. I winced in severe pain, yet tried to push myself back up. Suddenly, a found rang through the thin air around me. Hoof steps, but where from!? I gasped as a firm magical grip wrapped around me, he found me.
''Next time, you'll know not to run away.'' said the boss, firmly and strictly before slapping me in the face harshly, blood drip out of my nose. ''We'll finish this back at the house.''
Present. Unknown's pov (I still hate calling her that!)
I didn't know what hit me following that. I was beaten so badly that I believe I'll never be able to walk anymore, let only fly. Luckily, I was the only member of my little group to not have her magic disabled, mainly because alicorn magic is very hard to disable so I can use a simple floating spell to get around but it's still doesn't help much.
I just wish I could get out of this horrible place, get my own home but that's impossible till I'm 18, I'm only 8 years old after all but that doesn't stop me from wishing it.
