//-------------------------------------------------------// Correspondence -by GoneForever- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Hey Twilight! //-------------------------------------------------------// Hey Twilight! Hey Twilight! I know the Sunset is usually the one who writes to you with this book, but I’m using it because I have a super-duper important question that I just have to ask you. When are you gonna be back at Canterlot High? Because the Fall Formal is coming up soon, and we all had such a fun time last time, even though Sunset almost enslaved the whole school. Anyway, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen you, and I know all the girls would love if you could come spend some time again with us, me especially. We all miss you! From, Pinkie Pie Pinkie looked up from the journal with a smile. “All finished!” She shut it, and handed it back to Sunset. “Thanks Pinkie,” Sunset said, putting it in her backpack and zipping it up. “Do you think she’s gonna have time to join us this year?” “Of course she is,” Rainbow Dash chimed in. “She had such an awesome time last year, there’s no way she would let this opportunity go.” Rarity grinned mischievously. “Besides, I’m sure there’s a certain blue-haired guitarist she’ll want to be spending the dance with.” All six of them giggled at that, and stared over a few tables at where Flash Sentry sat with his friends. “Yeah, I’d like that too,” Fluttershy said. She was cut off by a loud bell, signaling the end of the lunch period. Pinkie groaned as they stood and picked up their backpacks. “Ugh, I have a math test this period and I haven’t studied at all.” “Well whose fault is that?” Rarity gently teased. “Good luck, darling. I know you’ll do fantastically.” Pinkie smiled. “Awwww, thanks Rares. I’ll give it my best shot.” My best shot doesn’t really amount to much. Pinkie found herself drifting once again, unable to focus on the numbers and variables in front of her. Instead, she was doodling miniature Twilight Sparkles in the corner of her paper. Again. She could never seem to get the streaks in her hair right, and it was driving her crazy. “Alright class, ten minutes left for your test. Better be on the last page by now.” Her professor called from the front of the room. Shoot! Pinkie looked down to see that she was only halfway through the first page. Now there’s no way I’m gonna finish this thing. Stupid Twilight, why do you have to be so distracting? As always, the thought of her lavender friend made butterflies swarm in her chest, and her head filled with thought of the Fall Formal. She thought about walking into the final, arm and arm with Twilight, both of them wearing gorgeous dresses. She thought about dancing the night away, laughing as Twilight did her strange pony dance. She thought of all the fun they would have talking, and having the most interesting conversations. She thought about sealing the night with a kiss. She would never admit it to her friends, but she didn’t want Twilight to come to the dance to spend time with all six of them. She wanted Twilight all for herself. “Five more minutes, guys. You better be finishing up!” All that the five minutes amounted to for Pinkie was another picture of Twilight surrounded by a heart. “...and the final acceptor of the electrons during respiration is… anyone? Anyone?” Pinkie sighed as her biology teacher drawled on and on at the front of the classroom. I bet Twilight looks really cute with messy hair. Like right after she wakes up in the morning. She pictured Twilight sitting up in bed, with the sunlight streaming through her window. Twilight would stretch and yawn, a smile appearing on her face as she prepared to meet the coming day. Pinkie had been right, Twilight’s imaginary bed head was as adorable as she had expected. I wonder if Twilight has responded to my letter yet? It was painful to be sitting here, knowing that the book was in Sunset’s bag, so she couldn’t know anything until after school. It has to be a yes. There’s no way Twilight would miss the dance after the super fun time she had last year. She couldn’t take it any longer. Pinkie pulled her phone out of her backpack, making sure to keep it concealed from her professor, she began to type out a message. hey sunset. hear anything from twi yet? She hit send, and prayed for a quick response. Just a few minutes later, her phone buzzed in her pocket. She pulled it out as quickly as possible, eager to see what Sunset had said. Sorry Pinks, nothing yet. I’ll let you know as soon as I get a response. Pinkie put her phone away, disappointed. She’s probably just busy right now is all. I’m sure being the princess of friendship takes a lot of work. The rest of her final class period passed by in a blur of purple pink fantasies. “Pinkie,” Maud’s head appeared in the doorway of her room. “Does pizza sound good for dinner?” “Sure, thanks Maud.” She left, leaving Pinkie to moping on her bed. It was hard to have fun while this thing with Twilight was making her so distracted. She knew she shouldn’t be letting it get to her this much, but the longer she waited, the more she was sure that Twilight would be unable to come to Fall Formal. And the more she thought about that, the sadder she became. Somehow, she had allowed herself to get so built up around the idea of her and Twilight, that the realization that it might not happen was crushing her. I have a dream, she thought. I have a dream and I don’t think it will ever come true. She was crushing on an interdimensional magic horse princess. The more she thought about it, the more she realized the absurdity of her silly crush. There will never be room for me in Twilight’s life. I can never be with her, because that would involve travelling to Equestria, giving up my life here, and everything I know. She was just a silly girl dreaming of some impossible future, and that realization made her want to cry. It doesn’t even matter if Twilight comes to the Fall Formal. It makes no difference. When Sunset called her later in the evening with good news, Pinkie was happy. Of course she was happy, she was excited to see her friend again. However, she knew it was time to move on. No more silly dreams. No more doodles in the corners of tests. She was looking forward to the fun that all seven of them could have together at the dance.
