Pinkie Pie is always excited. She loved having friends, and doing fun things, and being friends with everyone. She is the Element of Laughter, and has huge bonding experiences with her friends virtually every Tuesday, when the Elements of Harmony unite.
How I hate that pink pony.
Her bubbling, carefree attitude. Her poofy mane. Her love of all her friends, except, of course, for me. She confines me in a cage, and she arbitrarily keeps me here forever. Seeing her interact with such joviality is like a knife in my heart, but I will escape. She can't stop me forever.
"Oh, Twilight! I am so glad you're here!" I said, inviting my friend, Twilight, into my house. She's a super-smart purple unicorn, and a super good friend. She was here to help me recover from the horrors Discord found inside me. He forced me to remember the worst times in my life, like when I thought my friends had invited me to a party designed to kick me out of the group, or when I got lost from my family. He showed me ponies who laughed at me, mocking me, rather than reveling in my merriment with me. The worst thing was that he showed me that the counterpart to Laughter was Madness.
The draconequui had controlled the element of Laughter in the time before Celestia and Luna came into power. However, they corrupted Laughter, and forced the other elements to bear the weight of Chaos Magic. Laughter is supposed to help their friends with difficult burdens, not hurt them. He had showed me exactly how throwing parties and making friends would eventually lead me to killing all my friends in a rampage of insanity, and I put up a shield. I was so nervous and angry that I lashed out at whoever I saw laughing.
It felt so good to be mean.
That's what scared me.
Twilight's voice snaps me out of my reverie. " I just wanted to see you, and I've learned a new spell to finally help me help you confront your fears, in case you need help putting it into words. Celestia taught me it." She beamed with pride. She's still so proud of being Celestia's protege.
"Which fear? Polka-dotted bears? Hey, polka is a kind of music AND a festive decoration! I don't know why I was so scared of it before!"
Twilight shook her head, trying to hide her smile from me."No, Pinkie, I want to talk to you about Discord. What lie did he tell you about your friends?"
I had wanted to avoid this subject, but I wanted to help Twilight, so I said,"He told me all you ponies want to do is laugh at me."
"Pinkie, we laugh with you, not at you."
"Well, sometimes ponies just say,'Pinkie Pie, you are SO random.' Plus, I don't really do much to help other people. I just make them smile."
"They just don't understand what you're doing. You make everyone in Ponyville smile. If you weren't here, everyone would be as gloomy as if Rainbow let the clouds cover the sun."
"I guess that is sort of helping people. But Discord and I are pretty similar when you think about it."
Twilight's eyes widened with shock, "No Pinkie, you make ponies smile because you value the happiness of others above your own, and helping people makes you happy. I think... Discord just tries to make himself laugh by tormenting others."
"I guess... but laughter and madness are similar..."
"No, Pinkie," Twilight interrupted," Your magic is more powerful than Discord's magic. Laughter sows the bonds of friendship, while madness just burns down the lush fields cultivated by the fertilizer of Honesty and the relentless sun of Loyalty..." She trailed off. "Sorry, I digress. My point is, you don't divide our group. You help unify us."
I nodded. What Twilight was saying made a lot of sense. "Thanks, Twilight. Laughter can be used to bring mockery and derision, but I use it for bringing unity and joy." Repeating pony's arguements assures they will agree with you.
" I'm so glad I could help you."
She turned to leave.
"Wait..." I called out, "There's one more thing Discord showed me."
She turned around, alarmed," I thought I covered all the points Discord could have used."
"No, but it's good you're not thinking just like him."
"I guess you're right. I still feel bad I missed it, though. I hate that he's smarter than me."
"Not smarter." I shuddered," Just more twisted."
"Thanks." I could see that she was visibly relieved as she continued," What's the argument?"
"Well, it is a little... dark, I guess. I don't even know how to explain it."
"Well, I guess my spell will finally come in handy. Try lying down on the couch."
I spread my legs on the couch, liking where this was going.
She lit up her horn.
