I think we're lost

The road home

Previous Chapter

Twilight quite literally, kicked the two men out of her castle. Dave and Arron landed unceremoniously on the ground right in front of the parked white Nissan Maxima.

"Is she always like that?" Dave asked his brother.

...... Arron didn't reply.

"Are you, OK?" Now Dave was concerned.

"Just get in the car we're going home." Arron said producing the key to open the doors.

Dave looking confused went around to the passenger door. Opening it he got in again not wearing his seat belt he just waited for his brother to start the Nissan.

Arron was quiet with a rather incomprehensible expression on his face. Starting the vehicle he put on his seat belt, then putting it in drive they were off. Arron didn't drive through Ponyville this time traveling the road that went around the pony settlement instead.

"So how are we getting home?" Dave asked his driver.

"Easy we just go back the way we came. It shouldn't be too hard to do, being there's only one car in Equestria." Arron told his passenger.

"Wait, so we're going back into that forest with those Timber Wolf things still out there?"

"Yes, Dave we are."

"Great plan bro." Dave muttered under his breath.

It was dusk as the Maxima carrying the two men got back to Sweet Apple acres. Apple Bloom's ears perked up knowing that there was only one thing it could be.

"Arron and his brother are coming back!" Twilight must have let them go!" Apple Bloom was excited as the noise of the car got closer.

"Now Apple Bloom don't go gettin all excitable like that. We don't know what them two are up too with that newfangled contraption of theirs." Granny Smith told the young filly.

"Eeyup." Big Mac said agreeing with the older mare. He kinda liked Arron but he wasn't too sure about Dave and that car. Big Mac scrunched up his face a the thought of the smelly thing.

Arron and Dave both saw the small Farm get closer.

"Are we going to stop, to say Hi?" Dave said as he noticed that Arron wasn't slowing down.

Arron didn't want to slow down as it was night was going to be settling in soon. He knew that Luna would be raising the moon in an hour or less, and he wasn't going to try and drive through the Ever Free forest at night.

"No, Dave we aren't stopping." Stepping on the accelerator Arron brought his Maxima up to forty five MPH as he zoomed by the farm house.

Dave saw a small yellow pony look bewildered as they flew past. There was also a fairly big Red one that came out to stand next to her.

Apple Bloom was confused as the white car went flying by her farmhouse. Big Mac even came out to see what was going on. The two ponies just stared at two red lights that soon disappeared into the distance.

Apple Bloom started to sob softly. "Where are they going? Why didn't they stop Big Mac?" She looked up into her big brothers soft eyes.

He looked down at his little sister with a smile. "Twilight probably told them how to get back home, so they're probably rushing to get there before it get's too late." The older red stallion said to her.

"But they just got here! How can they just up and leave like that?" Apple Bloom was still teary eyed.

Big Mac just nuzzled his little sister and assisted her back inside.

Arron threw on his high beams and started honking the horn rather vigorously as he was fallowing the tire track s he had previously made on the escape. He had to bring the car down to a slow crawl of fifteen MPH as he was glued to the trail that would hopefully lead back home.

"Are you sure this plan will work?" Dave said as he was on the lookout for Timber Wolves.

"No, Dave I'm not sure but we don't belong here, and I don't know about you but I never stay where I'm not wanted." Arron said a bit snappy.

"I kinda figured as much." Dave said crossing his arms but still the thought of home was more appealing rather than staying here in Pony Land.

The sun had finally set and the two brother's were back where they had started. Arron put the car into park and got out. Pulling his flashlight from his pant's pocket he scoured the ground. It didn't take long for him to find what he was looking for. Shinny brass cases reflecting the light off from them. Arron picked one of the empty shells up and studied it. This was no doubt the place where they encountered the Timber Wolves this morning.

"Well this is the right place but now what?" He didn't really have time to think much as Dave who was still in the car started pounding on the horn.

Arron covered his ears as he noticed that several pairs of glowing green eyes had retreated back into the forest. Aiming the beam of his flashlight into the ridge line he didn't see any more Timber Wolves. Pocketing the case and his flashlight he climbed back into the car.

"So what now?" Dave asked his bro.

"Easy we just keep fallowing this road and hopefully we'll be back on that old logging road of Leon's." Arron said it with confidence but he was still unsure if this plan of his was going to work.

Arron put his car back into drive as they set off into the unknown.

"They left!? What do you mean they left!?" Sweety Bell was asking her friend Apple Bloom who had just explained to the other CMCers that Dave and Arron drove by the farm house last night, not even bothering to stop.

"My brother said, they probably got information from Twilight on how to get back home." Apple Bloom explained.

"Well then, I guess we'll just have to go visit Twilight after school." Scotaloo said as they were making their way to the school. Mrs. Cheerilee was greeting the all of the ponies just outside the door as the younger fillies and colts were being dropped off by their parents.

Dave and Arron were no longer lost. After driving for nearly an hour they had found a landmark that was definitely recognizable. The barbed wire fence on the left and an old rock wall on the right. Dave looked at the clock on the car's CD player it said Ten Seventeen.

"Well that was different." Dave said braking the uncomfortable silence.

Arron just shrugged as he saw two lights coming at him from the other direction. Leon was riding on his Honda four wheeler. Pulling up to Arron's door he pressed the button to roll the window down to greet the older gentleman.

"I've been looking for you boys what happened? Did you get lost?" Leon was bundled in an over sized down jacket and he had to shout over the noise of his idling Four wheeler.

Arron and Dave gave each other strange looks then turning back Arron simply stated. "Leon, you have no, idea."

Leon shrugged but it was hard to tell with that huge jacket on. He readjusted his glasses and pulled the throttle of is Honda. "Well now that I've found you just fallow me!" He turned around behind the white Sedan and took off back down the logging road that would lead them back home.
