Scootaloo stared at the door, wondering what they'd be like. She'd always known what her parents would be like. Her dad is a former wonderbolt. He loves to fly fast, and mentors Scootaloo so that she can join and be a good flyer to, one day. Her mother is a unicorn. Everything is home made, as the magic comes in hoovedy sometimes. This also explains why Scoots has never had the ability to fly. Cheerilee had said she'd found Scootaloo's parents. Were they the way the filly had dreamed of them? Maybe her father would explain he had to leave on Wonderbolts duty, but he came back. Maybe her Mother got a TV show and was busy talking about all her DiY crafts she did. But there was no new season because she had come back for her little Scootaloo. Oh, if only. But truth sets in.
The little pegasus, 10 years old by now, had finally caught on. She had no parents. No-one really loved her. She lived in a back alley behind Cheerilee's schoolhouse, pretending she went to the orphanage. But orphanages were horrible. The orange pegasus had gone from one to another, over and over. Not one held a good experience. Surely she'd never find a home. So she gave up looking. Miss Cheerilee could look all she likes, Scootaloo knew there were no perfect parents for her, and if there were, they were probably dead by now, considering her luck. She couldn't remember a time when she had parents. Sometimes she'd stay at Cheerilee's, other times the clubhouse, but mainly she just took what came with a straight face, hiding the tragedy she had endured for most of her life. So many tears from that small pony. Until she stopped crying, and closed herself off. She still had friends, but nopony truly knew what she had to deal with. Maybe telling them would help, but being closed off she thought it made her vulnerable. So she put her best face on everything, hoping maybe something good would come out of it. But she cried herself to sleep every night. Truly, the face with the largest smile sheds the most tears.
Scootaloo wanted to be tough, like her idol, Rainbow Dash. But being shut out from the world made her weak. Closing herself off from her friends made her stress about every word they said. Living a dream made the truth crushing. Shunning the help of her peers made her cold and frail, sleeping in an old alleyway with no hope left. She thought life would only bring sorrow, so sorrow was all she got. Even around her closest friends she seemed distant, shut away. So many emotions in such a tiny pony. So much sorrow in such a short life.
