Chapters It was a typical morning in Equestria, except that it wasn't a typical morning. Celestia should have risen the sun at least two hours ago. That's what worried Luna the most; her sister was never late when it came to rising and lowering the sun.
She was heading towards her sister's chambers; praying that nothing had happened to her sister. When nopony responded to her knocking, Luna took that as full permission to invade her sister's privacy and enter the room.
When she entered, she found her sister laying on her bed. Her breathing was shallow and she wasn't responding to anything Luna did to get her to wake up. This was the time that Luna began to panic.
She scanned the room for something specific; it was an odd-shaped red hard case. Once she found it, she opened the case to reveal a needle. After prepping it, the night princess reluctantly injected the glucose into her sister.
"Bring my sister to the hospital wing immediately. It's urgent." She told the guards after calling for them.
As the guards did as ordered, Luna went to the throne room to announce that court would be canceled today and briefly explained that Celestia was not well this morning. She could only imagine what kind of crazy conspiracies the ponies would come up with, but that could wait until later. Right now, Luna had a letter to write to Twilight Sparkle.
"Twilight! Did you hear what's going on in Canterlot?" Rarity asked her friend as she entered the golden oaks library in Ponyville.
"No, what's happening?" The lavender unicorn asked.
"According to my friend Octavia, Princess Luna had to cancel court today because Celestia isn't well. Now, this part is just a rumor, but they say Princess Luna turned evil again and is planning on dethroning her sister. Amazing of rumors like that get created so quickly..." Rarity explained.
Just as Rarity finished her explanation, Spike came running with a scroll in his hand. This scroll was tied with a dark blue ribbon and had a crescent moon wax seal; it was from princess Luna.
"Is everything alright?" Rarity asked, seeing as her friend's face was full of panic.
"We need to get the girls back here; we're needed in Canterlot..." Twilight said as the two mares went to find their friends.
"Thank you so much for doing this, Cadence. I don't know how you and my sister can put up with all this...Besides, I need to work on the investigation." Luna said as a light pink alicorn with a tri-colored mane walked down the hallway towards the throne room.
"It's no trouble, auntie. I wonder exactly what happened to her, she's usually in control of it..." Cadence replied.
"I highly doubt it's her doing. I don't wish to alarm anypony, but I think this was an attempt at assassinating my sister." Luna replied.
"Your highness, the elements of harmony have arrived" a grey unicorn guard informed the princess of the night.
"Excellent. Please have somepony escort them to the library and inform them that I will be there as soon as I can." She said as he left to perform his orders.
"Now then, you will have to excuse me my dear niece, but I believe Dr.Blood Work wanted to speak with me. I wish you luck in court." She excused herself.
Once Luna arrived at the hospital wing of the castle, she was right away greeted by Dr. Blood Work
"Ah princess, thank you for coming." He said as the two entered his office to talk a bit more privately.
"Now then, your sister remains in a comatose state, but her blood sugar levels are rising at a decent pace. According to her test results, there was extremely high traces of insulin in her system; thing is, the insulin that we found in her was a lot more fast-acting than her prescription..." He explained.
"That's what I was afraid of..." She replied.
"Good news is, I'm estimating she should wake by this evening; tomorrow at the latest. We currently have glucose entering her bloodstream." He said.
"That's good to hear, thank-you doctor." Luna thanked.
"Oh, and your highness, when she does wake up, try to get her to take it easy for a couple days. Just so her system can recover a bit." He said.
"I will try my best, but you know Celestia; she is so stubborn..." Luna replied as the two laughed.
"I wonder what's happened that the princess wanted us...?" Rainbow Dash said as the girls waited for Princess Luna.
"I don't know, Rainbow; but I sure hope it's nothing too serious..." Rarity replied.
"Well, I'm just assuming that it has something to do with Celestia..." Pinkie Pie said.
"So Twilight, how much time did you spend in here?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"A lot. That's all I can say; a lot." Twilight replied as the six friends laughed.
"Sorry I'm late, Everypony. I had...huh...something urgent to attend to." Luna apologized as she entered the library.
"Princess, what's going on?" Twilight asked.
"Well, huh...how do I put this; now don't go around telling everypony, but I think someone might be trying to assassinate my sister." Luna explained.
"What? What makes you think somepony is trying to kill Princess Celestia?" Rarity asked. Luna sighed.
"There's something you should know about my sister; she's sick. She has type one diabetes." Luna said.
"Huh...princess, what exactly is that?" Asked Fluttershy. All six of them didn't quite understand what the disease was; not even Twilight seemed to understand.
"In simple terms, it's a disease which causes her blood sugar levels to be all over the place. That is caused by the pancreas malfunctioning and not producing the insulin the body needs to control the sugar levels." Luna explained much to the girls' amazement.
"Okay, but that still doesn't answer why you think someone planned an assassination attempt on the princess..." Pinkie Pie mentioned.
"Before coming here, I was in the hospital wing. My sister remains in a comatose state. From what I've been told, they found extremely high traces of insulin in her system. To top it, it isn't the same insulin as she normally takes; it's more rapid-acting- meaning it gets rid of the extra sugar a lot faster than the insulin she takes. Knowing my sister, she wouldn't be as irresponsible as to inject herself with the wrong medication and too much of it to boot. It just doesn't add up." Luna explained.
"That brings me to the reason why I wanted you six in Canterlot. If anypony can figure this out, it's you lot. I'd like for you to take part in the investigation." Luna continued.
"We would be honored, princess" Twilight replied after a few moments of consideration.
"Thank-you." The night princess thanked.
"Huh, Princess, I know it's none of my buisness, but huh, who is holding court at the moment if Celestia is in the hospital wing and you're here with us?" Fluttershy asked.
"Actually Princess Mi Amore Cadenza is currently taking care of it" Luna answered.
With that, the gang headed towards Celestia's bedchamber to search for clues. The first thing they checked was Celestia's nightstand drawer where Luna said she kept her medication. Inside the drawer, there was a bunch of needles, two insulin vials, alcohol swabs, a glucose meter and a bag of jellybeans. With her magic, Luna picked up the two vials and examined them.
"This is my sister's medication." She said placing the first vial on the nightstand.
"This is what was injected into her system." She continued as she handed the vial to Twilight.
"We should probably bring this in for analysis..." She said as the night goddess nodded.
"I never realized Princess Celestia had all these needles in her room though..." Twilight said.
"Why didn't she tell anypony she had such a condition?" Asked Rarity.
"She didn't feel the need to tell anypony...except for those who needed to be made aware." She replied.
"Ah kind of see her point, gals. Ah mean, Princess Celestia is more often than not the center of attention. Ah highly doubt she wants more attention on herself, especially over something like this." Applejack said.
"That's exactly it, Applejack." The princess of the night replied.
"Hey girls! Look what I found!" Pinkie exclaimed as she brought back a piece of purple fabric with light blue and yellow stars on it.
"Looks like it came off a cloak or something..." Rarity noted.
"There's only one pony I know of who wears anything with that pattern on it..." Rainbow Dash said.
"Trixie" the six exclaimed in unison.
"Princess, I think we should have the guards bring in Trixie Lulamoon for questioning." Twilight suggested as Luna nodded.
"I will give the order immediately. Twilight, may I speak to you in private for a moment?" she asked as the younger alicorn nodded.
As soon as Luna gave the guards the order to find Trixie and bring her to the castle for questioning, they went straight away. Once the guards left, Luna led Twilight to her bedchambers so they could speak privately. Almost instantly, Twilight gave Luna a hug.
"I've been waiting all day to do that" She said.
"Same here, my dear." Luna replied.
"It's unfortunate that it was under such horrible circumstances..." Twilight said.
"Don't worry, Twilight; we will find the one responsible for all of this...Are your friends aware of the truth yet?" She asked.
"No, not yet mother. I still don't know when to tell them..." Twilight replied.
"Well, I think you should tell them as soon as possible. Personally, I'd like to make it known to everypony about you and your cousin's lineage. We've been hiding it for so long..." The night goddess said as her daughter nodded in agreement.
"Maybe when everything is cleared up, we can talk to auntie Tia about it...?" Twilight suggested.
"I think that's an excellent idea. Now, what do you think about this whole thing?" Luna asked, referring to the coup on her sister.
"I think it's most likely an assassination attempt. Though narrowing it down to who might have done it, that is a bit more difficult. There are enough possibilities: it could be somepony on the inside of the castle, somepony who is close enough to her to know about her condition, or it could be someone on the outside, and this pony may not even know that auntie is a diabetic. It could be one of those, or it could be a mix of those things. It's hard to say who it could have been. Hopefully having Trixie in for questioning might help..." Twilight explained as Luna nodded in agreement.
With that, the two mares returned to the room to search for more clues. Twilight scanned the room when she noticed something.
"Mother-huh, I mean princess, I think I found something." Twilight said as she levitated a piece of shattered glass that was on the ground. There were a few traces of blood on it.
"This could be helpful...We will send it in for analysis and find out who's blood is on it. Twilight, did you check for remainders of magical traces?" She asked.
"Yes. I found a trace of unfamiliar magic, but I can't pin it to anypony..." She replied.
After perhaps another forty-five minutes of investigating, the six friends and the night princess called it a day. Princess Luna went off to raise the moon and discuss their findings with Cadence, while the six friends headed towards their rooms. Due to there only being three rooms available in the area that Luna wanted them to be in (meaning the same hallway as her and her sister's rooms) the girls had to share the rooms between them. Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie took the room further down the hall, Rarity and Applejack took the one directly beside them and Twilight and Rainbow Dash shared the room closest to the Princesses'. Once inside their room, Rainbow Dash grabbed Twilight and kissed her.
"I've been waiting all day to do that" she said.
"What are the odds that we would have to share a room while investigating what happened to the princess...?" Twilight asked.
"I guess we can call that luck" Rainbow said as she snuck another kiss from Twilight.
"I feel bad for not telling the others about us..." Twilight said.
"We'll tell them...eventually..." Rainbow replied.
"Dashie, they deserve to know...besides, we can't keep hiding our feelings like this forever..." Twilight said, a guilty look on her face.
"You alright Twi?" Rainbow Dash asked, concerned.
"Oh! Yeah, I'm fine. Perfectly fine." She replied.
Later on that night, Twilight snuck out of her room- unaware that her marefriend was still awake and watched her leave, wondering where she could be going- to go see her mother.
"Twilight? Are you alright?" Luna asked when her daughter came to see her.
"We have to tell them the truth. I want to tell my friends the truth tomorrow." She said, determination in her voice.
"I don't see why not." Luna replied. It was settled. Twilight would tell her friends the truth in the morning.
The next morning, Twilight found herself cuddling with Rainbow Dash in one of the beds in their room. Though she would have preferred to stay cuddled up to her secret marefriend, the newly crowned princess needed to get up and start the day. She tried to sneak out of Rainbow's grasp without waking her, but sadly that plan failed miserably.
"Good morning" Dash said, yawning.
"Good morning" Twilight replied as she nuzzled the cyan Pegasus.
"So, where did you go last night?" Rainbow asked.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Twilight asked.
"I saw you go out last night. Where did you go?" she asked.
"Oh, that. I just...huh...went to see princess Luna for a moment. I needed to talk to her about something." Twilight explained vaguely. Suddenly the two mares heard knocking at the door.
"You two commin' or what?" Applejack's voice resonated through the door. Twilight had completely forgot that Luna was waiting for them in the kitchen for breakfast.
"Yeah, let's go" Twilight said as the two left their room.
When they got to the kitchen, Luna was already there, though it didn't appear as if she had been there long. Everypony took a seat around the table. Luna gave her daughter a nod signaling she could tell them the truth at any time.
"Girls, there's something I need to tell you..." She started.
"What's up Twi?" Rainbow Dash asked, seeing the fear and nervousness on her marefriend's face.
"Huh...there's something you five need to know...I'm actually...huh...Princess Luna's...daughter." She finally admitted. Her friends looked at her with slight shock and surprise.
"You're Princess Luna's daughter?" Rainbow asked first. Now this frightened her a little bit considering her relationship with Twilight.
"Yes. I'm sorry for keeping this from you for as long as I have. You're my friends, I should have trusted you girls with this secret." She replied.
"Wait a minute y'all, how is that even possible? Princess Luna was banished to the moon for a thousand years; way before Twilight was born..." Applejack asked.
"That's another thing...I'm actually...a lot older than I look..." As Twilight said that, her gaze fell upon Rainbow Dash to see how she would react to all of this. Much to her surprise, Rainbow Dash appeared calm and collected for the most part, but on the inside, she was panicking. Gradually, Rainbow's fear became more visible.
"Are you alright Rainbow?" Rarity asked, noticing her friend's distress.
"Huh? Oh yeah, I'm fine. Great even. Everything is fine." She replied. Twilight saw through her marefriend's façade.
"I know this is a lot to take in, but I felt that you all deserved to know..." she said.
"Good morning, everypony" Said a feminine voice everypony knew; it was Cadence.
"Caddy!" Twilight exclaimed as she went to hug her cousin.
"Twily! Thank goodness you and your friends are here; I assume you know what's going on?" she replied.
"Yup. We were planning on continuing our investigation today." she said as Cadence sat down beside her aunt.
"So, auntie, any news on mom-huh, I mean Celestia's condition?" She asked.
"Nothing yet, I'm afraid. I'm hoping she wakes up soon..." Luna replied.
After finishing their meal, Cadence returned to the throne room to hold court once more while Luna, Twilight and the gang returned to the room to check for anymore evidence that they might have missed the day before. About twenty minutes into the investigation, a guard pony entered the room:
"Your highness, we have found Trixie Lulamoon and are holding her for questioning as you requested."
"Excellent. Take us to her; it's quite important." She replied as she was led to the castle dungeons. The guard continued down the hall and stopped at the third door.
"Thank-you, lieutenant." Luna thanked before entering the interrogation room.
"What do you want with Trixie? Trixie is innocent she tells you!" Trixie exclaimed.
"Ah, miss Lulamoon. The first thing I'd like to ask you is if you recognize this?" Luna asked as she handed her the piece of fabric.
"Trixie recognizes this! It's a piece of The Great and Powerful Trixie's cape!" She exclaimed.
"Now tell me miss Lulamoon, what was a piece of your cape doing in my sister's bedchambers?" Luna asked.
"How should Trixie know? Trixie hasn't been anywhere near the castle in ages! Trixie's cape ripped when somepony stepped on it while Trixie was shopping." She explained. Luna knew Trixie was telling the honest to goodness truth, seeing as she placed a truth spell on her prior to starting the interrogation.
"This may sound a little odd, but I feel almost obliged to ask; are you a member of any sort of secret-society or cult?" the night princess asked.
"Trixie is most certainly not in a creepy cult! She has never even considered joining one." she replied.
"Alright. Thank-you miss Lulamoon, you are free to go." The night goddess said as Trixie made her way out of the interrogation room.
"Princess, I believe Cold Case has finished her analysis and would like a word with you" A green unicorn guard said as Luna headed towards the rendez-vous point.
"Are you alright, Dash?" Twilight asked, sitting down next to her marefriend.
"Yeah. I'm fine; why wouldn't I be?" She replied.
"Are you sure? You seem as if something is bothering you..." She replied.
All of a sudden, there was a knock at the door. Twilight went and answered. When she opened the door, she was tackled to the ground by what looked like an alicorn mare with bat-pony wings, a black coat, slanted teal eyes and a long flowing mane consisting of a dark pink color and a deep purple.
"Diana?" Twilight asked.
"Twily!" she replied.
"Oh my gosh! Diana!" Twilight exclaimed.
"It's so great to see you, big sis" Diana replied as the two hugged.
"'Big sis'?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Oh! Diana, this is my friend Rainbow Dash. Dashie, this is my twin sister Diana. She's like 2 minutes younger than me." Twilight explained.
"Oh! Is she here too?" Twilight asked.
"Yeah, she's with mother in her room." Diana replied.
Twilight walked down the hall until she reached her mother's room. After knocking on the door a few times, the door opened. Upon entering the room, Twilight saw a unicorn mare with a black coat, a blue and purple mane and slanted hazel eyes in which she hasn't seen in a very long time.
"Mom?" She asked, not believing what she was seeing.
"Twilight! My goodness! Look at you! You aren't that little filly I remember anymore..." her mother replied as she hugged her.
"Oh, huh this is my friend Rainbow Dash. Rainbow, meet my mother; Captain Dusk Starbright of the Lunar guard." Twilight introduced.
The first thing Rainbow Dash took notice of was the fact that Twilight had two mothers; one of which was a princess of Equestria, and the other was a captain of a royal guard.
"N-nice to meet you" she said a bit nervously. Twilight noticed almost immediately.
"It's great to see you again, mom" Twilight exclaimed.
"I've missed you and your mother so much...I regret not being around to see you grow up..." she replied.
"Hopefully you can stick around for a bit?" Twilight asked hopefully.
"I don't see why not..." she replied as the two sisters rejoiced.
A short while later, Twilight and Rainbow Dash returned to their room.
"So...you have two mothers?" Rainbow broke the silence.
"Yeah...you aren't...disturbed by that?" she asked.
"Not at all Twi, I know a couple other ponies who have two same-sex parents. It's perfectly normal." she replied.
"Your mom and your sister look almost identical...you know except for the mane color and style and her eye color and the wings..." Rainbow remarked.
"Yeah, she resembles a mix between both of them and a bit of auntie Celestia." Twilight explained.
"So you're the eldest daughter of a princess of Equestria and a royal guard? Oh gosh..." she replied.
"Is that what's been bugging you today? You've been acting sort of off ever since I told you I was Princess Luna's daughter..." she asked.
"Well yeah, I mean, I knew I was going to have to meet your parents eventually, but I hadn't realized your parents were ponies with such high authority. What if they don't like me? What if your mother banishes me to Faust knows where? And to boot your aunt is princess Celestia...yeah, you could say I'm a little nervous." Dash confessed. Twilight couldn't help but giggle at Rainbow's worries.
"Dash, they wouldn't do anything like that. Besides, why wouldn't they like you? There is nothing dislikable about you, Dashie." she said as she kissed her.
"I love you, Twi." Rainbow exclaimed.
"I love you too, Dash." she replied.
Just as soon as they were about to embrace one another, there was a knock on the door. Twilight went to answer the door; it was Cadence.
"Caddy? What's going on?" she asked.
"Celestia woke up. She's still in the hospital wing. Your mother wanted me to come get you." She replied.
With that, the two cousins headed towards the hospital wing. When they arrived, they had just caught what seemed like the end of Celestia and Luna's discussion:
"...I told you sister, I'm fine!" Celestia said.
"You are so damn stubborn sometimes Celestia...I can't even..." Luna replied.
"I'm Stubborn? Do you even hear yourself right now?" Celestia argued.
"Celestia, it's for your own good; just take the time off so your system can recuperate. Besides, I have Doctor Blood Work on my side in this..." Luna replied.
"How long have they been at it?" Twilight whispered to her sister.
"Since before Cadence went to find you..." she whispered back.
"Please 'Tia, just take a couple days to rest up properly..." Luna begged.
"I told you Luna, I'm fine..." she replied.
"No you aren't. I don't know if you realize this Celestia, but you were in a diabetic coma due to an insulin overdose! You cannot tell me you're fine after something like that..." she argued.
"Yes I can, because I am fine." she replied.
"Celestia, please. Just to put my mind at ease; I'm begging you..." Luna exclaimed.
"...fine..." Celestia sighed in defeat.
"Thank-you" Luna replied as she nuzzled her sister.
"How are you feeling, mom?" Cadence asked.
"I've had better days; that's for sure..." she replied.
"Do you remember anything that happened a couple nights ago, sister?" Luna asked, wanting to get to the bottom of it as soon as possible.
"I remember seeing a cloaked figure. It looked like a mare...her coat was a light yellow color as far as I could tell. After I noticed her, she placed a cloth drenched in Chloroform on my muzzle and knocked me out. After that, everything went black." She explained.
"Who could it have been? I mean, how would they have managed to even get into the castle?" Twilight wondered.
"I hate to say it, but it's possible that this pony has an accomplice on the inside...?" Cadence said.
"I hate to admit it, but it is a possibility..." Twilight exclaimed.
Far off from the castle, a mint-green unicorn mare wearing a cloak stood on a hill- facing the city- waiting. A couple moments later, two more cloaked figures arrive. One was a white unicorn stallion and the other was a yellow earth pony mare. They were still waiting on somepony else. Finally, the last member of their group; a charcoal colored Pegasus stallion.
"Any news on the princess, Sky Trooper?" asked the mint-colored unicorn.
"Last I heard, the tyrant was still in a coma, but I heard from Lightning Blast she finally woke up..." Sky Trooper; the charcoal Pegasus replied.
"I heard that they took Trixie Lulamoon in for questioning; great job planting that piece of her cape in there!" The white unicorn stallion added.
"Alright then, phase one is complete. Now on to phase two; Sky Trooper, be sure to meet with 'the master' tomorrow morning to be sure he remembers the plan. Once his part is executed, our mission should be complete..." The mint-colored pony said.
"But what if her sister gets in the way again?" Asked the yellow mare.
"Oh, I'll take care of her myself if she dares to foil our plans again!" The mint-colored mare replied coldly.
Later on that evening, Twilight returned to her and Rainbow's room, where her marefriend greeted her.
"So, how is she?" She asked.
"She's fine, but doctor Blood Work wants to keep her another night, just to be sure everything's fine." She replied.
"Who do you think is behind this?" She asked.
"I honestly have no idea, Dash. It could be anypony..." she replied as her marefriend held her close.
"Don't worry Twi, we'll catch 'em!" she said.
"I hope so..." she replied.
In the room beside them, Rarity and Applejack were talking.
"Is it just me, or is Rainbow dash actin' weird lately?" Applejack asked.
"I can't deny it; she has been acting peculiar today...ever since Twilight brought up her lineage...weird huh?" Rarity replied.
"You know, now that ah think about it, even Twilight's been acting strange..." she replied.
"You don't think they're hiding something, do you?" she asked.
"Who knows? Maybe..." Applejack replied.
Back in Twilight and Rainbow Dash's room, the two had been debating about announcing their relationship to their friends and family.
"I don't know Twi, I mean obviously your parents would be totally cool with it, but I don't know how my folks will react..." she said.
"I know it's a major risk, but wouldn't it be better to tell them now as opposed to them finding out should we slip up?" Twilight replied.
"You have a point...But, like I said, it's not so much telling the girls that worries me-hell telling your parents doesn't scare me half as much as telling my parents. And I already voiced my fears about telling your parents about us..." Rainbow replied.
"Well, then let's start with the girls, then my parents and we will tackle talking to your parents afterwards?" Twilight suggested.
"I don't know, Twi...my folks are pretty 'old fashioned', and I don't know what they might do should we tell them about us..." she replied.
"Dashie, no matter what they do or say, you have us for support. Besides, it's not like you will be facing them alone..." She said as she tenderly kissed her marefriend.
"I won't force you to tell your parents Dashie, but at least let me tell mine; they know how to keep a secret." Twilight practically begged.
"Alright. we tell your parents, and then maybe the girls, but we wait to tell my parents until I'm ready. Deal?" She replied.
"Deal! Thank-you Dashie!" Twilight exclaimed as she hugged her marefriend.
The next day, Celestia was released from the hospital and was currently resting in her bedchambers, much to her sister's relief. Meanwhile, the girls were all in what looked like a conference room-along with Princess Luna, Diana, Cadence and Cold Case- discussing their theories on whom the suspect may be.
"Well, it's possible that it could have been Upper Crust..." Rarity said.
"But what would be her motive?" Rainbow Dash argued.
"How about Spitfire?" Asked Applejack.
"Huh...pretty sure Spitfire is out of town with Soarin." Rainbow replied.
"Oh, that's right those two got married last week!" Rarity gushed.
"Wait, what about BonBon?" Twilight asked.
"BonBon as in Lyra's marefriend BonBon?" Rarity asked.
"Lyra as in Lyra Heartsrings? The crazy conspiracy theorist?" Cold Case asked.
"Lyra is a conspiracy theorist?" Pinkie Pie asked.
"Oh yeah, we've been trying to track her down for a while now...She has been known to join many cults over the years..." Cold Case explained.
"Maybe BonBon joined one of the cults Lyra is in because she's her marefriend or something?" Rainbow asked.
"Maybe, but there's also a chance that it could be Symphony or anypony else for that matter" Cadence said.
"Cadence has a point; for all we know it could be somepony who used an illusion spell to keep us off their trail..." Twilight replied.
"So this is leading nowhere! It could literally be anypony..." Rainbow sighed in frustration.
"Well, it would have to be either somepony who is an expert at breaking and entering, or somepony who already has access to the castle, or it's somepony who is on the inside." Diana said.
"Cold Case, what of your findings?" Luna asked.
"Well, we've examined the room for any magical auras and we found three; the princess's of course, and then one of the aura's we've identified as lieutenant Thunder Blast and the other remains unknown. My team is still analysing the third one, your majesty. We also found a microscopic blood sample that we are currently analysing as well." She said.
"What was Thunder Blast doing in my sister's chambers?" Luna asked rhetorically.
"That's what I'd like to know" Said a voice that only about five ponies knew.
"Huh, not to be rude or anything darling, but who is this?" Rarity asked.
"My wife" Luna said simply.
"Your wife?" Applejack asked, a little bit confused.
"Yes Applejack, this is my wife and captain; Dusk. Dusk Starbright." Luna said.
"Anyway, what's this about Thunder Blast?" Dusk asked.
" Oh, Cold Case found a magical aura belonging to Thunder Blast while investigating what happened to Celestia" Luna filled her in.
"Ah, well if I remember correctly, his descendants were part of the group that formed that cult against Celestia about a thousand years ago..." She replied.
"And how do you know about those cults?" Luna asked.
"Sweetheart, you know after what happened I've kept close tabs on anything to do with cults involving you or Celestia..." She replied as she nuzzled her wife.
"Wait a second, that's what you've been doing for the past millennium?" Twilight asked.
"Well that, and fighting in the guard. I used an alias to join Celestia's guard, again, to keep close tabs on the ponies I care about." She explained.
"Woah, you were here this whole time, and I never knew?" Twilight asked, both shocked and slightly hurt.
"That was to protect you and your sister. You know what would have happened if I stayed..." Dusk replied.
"But do you know if he is in one of those cults?" Luna asked.
"I remember seeing somepony resembling him at one of the last rallies for that one cult...If I remember correctly, the cult he was in focused on trying to kill either one of you or the both of you. They think going back to the ways of the three tribes would be better than the system we currently have..." She replied.
"Are they crazy? Going back to the way of the three tribes would kill us all! Equestria wouldn't last like that..." Luna exclaimed.
"But are you sure it was him you saw there, mom? And how long ago was that?" Serena asked.
"I'm not quite sure if it was him or not; and that was maybe a month ago..." She replied.
"Maybe we should bring him in for questioning?" Twilight suggested.
"I'll bring him in" Dusk offered.
"Be careful, love" Luna said before she left.
" I will" She replied as she left.
There was a long silence in the room. Nopony dared to speak. It wasn't until Pinkie Pie could no longer contain herself that the silence was finally broken.
"So, Twilight has two moms?" the five other elements of harmony face-hoofed at Pinkie's statement.
"Pinkie! That is incredibly rude!" Rarity chastised the pink mare.
"It's alright. I'm pretty sure nopony here got offended by what Pinkie said, right?" Luna asked her daughters.
"So...huh...if you don't mind my asking princess, but huh...how does that...huh...work exactly?" Fluttershy asked.
"Oh! Huh...well that was unexpected...Well, you see...the only way for two mares to have a child together is with a spell. So, that being said, at least one of the two have to be able to use magic; meaning a unicorn or an alicorn. And that's as far as I'm going into this talk. I'm not the pony to be talking to you girls about that kind of stuff anyway..." Luna explained.
"Except for Twilight and Diana! They're your daughters, technically you have to talk to them about this!" Pinkie exclaimed.
"Pinkie!" Twilight exclaimed.
It wasn't much longer after that when Dusk returned with Thunder Blast. His face was full of confusion as to what was happening. Dusk had informed her lover that she had cast a truth spell on the lieutenant before entering the room.
"Your majesty, what is going on?" He asked.
"Lieutenant, let me ask you something; a few nights ago, my sister was given an over-dose of insulin; leaving her in a comatose state. We have analysed the entire room and according to our results, you were in my sister's bedchambers that night. Do you mind telling us what you were doing there?" the night goddess asked.
"Huh...are you sure you wish to know, your highness?" He asked, almost afraid of what the princess of the night might say.
"Yes I do, lieutenant." She replied.
"Huh...well...huh...you see...the princess...requested my presence...t-to discuss something..." He replied.
"Discuss what exactly?" Luna asked.
"Huh...I'm sorry, princess but I'm afraid I cannot tell you that" He replied.
"What do you mean you cannot tell me?" She asked, slightly shocked.
"I can't tell you what we discussed, princess" He replied.
"Look, just tell me what you and my sister were talking about, and she will never know you told anypony" Luna said, hoping she would finally get an answer.
"Alright, but if Celestia finds out I told you...Faust knows what she'll do..." He sighed.
"The princess called me to her chambers that evening to announce to me that she is having my foal." He said as he flinched, as if he was either about to be smacked or yelled at .
"What?" the night goddess asked; not believing what she was hearing.
"Your sister is pregnant, your highness. She bears my foal..." He said, flinching once more.
Luna wanted to first scream at the stallion before her for getting her sister pregnant, then she wanted to hug him and 'welcome him to the family' and then she wanted to faint. Luckily, she did none of them. The night goddess let out a sigh and said:
"My sister's pregnant...well, that explains the mood swings lately....did she tell you how far she was?"
"She said according to Doctor Blood Work, she is about two months in..." He replied.
"Well, thank-you, lieutenant and congratulations." Luna said.
"Thank-you, princess." He said.
"Oh, and lieutenant, one more question; are you part of any sort of cults?" Dusk asked.
"No ma'am." He said simply. Dusk and Luna knew he was telling the truth.
"Alright, thank-you lieutenant." Luna said as Thunder Blaze bowed and left the room.
"Another dead end..." Diana said.
"She's pregnant." Cadence said.
"Caddy?" Twilight asked.
"I can't believe she's pregnant..." Cadence replied.
"Are you alright?" Luna asked, concerned for her niece that nopony knew about.
"She's going to have a foal...that means I'm going to be..." She started.
"A big sister?" Twilight asked.
"Yeah, that" she replied.
"Wait, what?" Applejack asked.
"Oh, shoot...huh...I may as well confess; I'm Celestia's daughter." Cadence said simply.
"Really?" Rainbow Dash asked as the princess of love nodded.
"Why are you so worried about being an older sister, Caddy?" Twilight asked.
"Don't you remember? That day, when we were all playing outside, and then he showed up..." Cadence replied on the verge of tears.
"Oh Cadence..." Twilight said as she hugged her cousin comfortingly.
"It's my fault..." she said.
"No, Cadence it's not your fault! What happened that day had nothing to do with you..." Diana said.
"Yes it is. Don't you two get it, he was after me. I'm the one he wanted; not Sunset and Dawn!" Cadence broke down into a fit of tears.
"Cadence, you can't blame yourself for what happened to them...you are not to blame..." Luna said in a somewhat motherly tone.
"Woah, I am totally lost! Who are Sunset and Artemis? And what is Princess Cadence blaming herself for that isn't her fault?" Pinkie Pie asked.
"Sunset was Cadence's younger sister and Dawn was Dusk and my third daughter; Twilight and Serena's younger sister. The two were killed one day by...by...King Sombra." Luna explained.
"King Sombra?" five of the six elements of harmony asked in pure shock.
The silence in the room was deadly. Nopony dared to speak. The five mares just looked at one another, uncertain of what to say-what to do even. They all had a saddened, but somewhat angered look on their faces. Finally, after quite some time of pure silence, Dusk spoke:
"Celestia would kill me for saying this, but Cadence's father was King Sombra."
"Cadence, if you don't want us to go further into this we won't. I know this is a sensitive topic..." Luna said.
"It's fine auntie, go ahead..." she replied.
"You see, quite some time ago, the Crystal Empire wasn't part of Equestria. It was an entire kingdom apart from us. So, to unite the two kingdoms, the nobles thought it would be a brilliant idea to have the two kingdoms united...by a wedding." Luna started.
"So they wanted one of you to marry King Sombra to unite the kingdoms?" Fluttershy asked.
"No, they wanted Celestia to marry Sombra. I may or may not had made it perfectly clear that I would only marry somepony I truly loved and not because they told me to." Luna replied.
"I remember that day, they were so ticked off at you for that!" Dusk laughed.
"It worked, right? Seeing as I did eventually marry the mare I love" Luna replied.
"You two actually got married? Not to be rude, but it is quite uncommon that two mares are married" Rarity wondered.
"Yes we did. It was considered quite the scandal back then..." Dusk said.
"While I was able to choose whom I wished to marry, Celestia really had no say in her engagement with Sombra. So they were wed, it was one of the biggest weddings in Equestrian history." Luna continued.
"But if it's one of the biggest weddings in Equestrian history, how come we ain't ever heard of it?" Applejack asked.
"We had it removed from every record and history book. But we have a valid reason..." Twilight explained.
"Let's see...they would have been married for two thousand years last month...how old is Cadence again...?" Dusk asked as she and Luna tried to figure it out.
"...I'd say it was probably a year and a half after they got married when Celestia told us..." Luna said.
"Huh, told you what exactly?" Rainbow asked.
"Oh! Right! Well a year and a half after Celestia married Sombra, she came back to the old castle in the Everfree and told us she was pregnant. It seemed like everything was going well for a while. After Cadence was born, Celestia would visit more often, a few years later Dusk and I got married, we had Twilight and Diana, things were looking good..." Luna continued.
"Until?" Fluttershy asked nervously.
"Cadence, we don't have to keep going if you don't want to..." Dusk said to her niece.
"No, go ahead. I'll be fine..." She replied, moving closer to Twilight who held her close in a wing-hug.
"Cadence was maybe eight, the girls were six if I'm right. Celestia had sent a letter saying she and Cadence would be coming down for a visit again. We were glad to have them come over, but something seemed odd about the letter...the wording of it was very unusual for my sister. Anyway, when they came to the castle, Cadence went to find Twilight and Diana. I noticed that my sister's eyes were all red and puffy; it was obvious she had been crying. Suddenly, she placed a basket in front of us. Inside, there was an orange unicorn filly. Turns out, she was pregnant and she never told anypony; not even Sombra." Luna continued.
"That's when we first found out what was really happening back at the Crystal Empire..." Dusk said as Twilight tightened her embrace on her cousin.
"Sombra was a very abusive stallion. He would...he would hit her. The bruises she showed me that night...she didn't tell him because she didn't want him hurting the foal. He wouldn't just hit her, as you all know due to...huh...circumstances, Celestia has diabetes meaning she needs insulin to live. Well, -and this enrages me still to this day- one evening, Celestia had been searching the castle for her insulin, then she searched her and Sombra's room. While she was searching, he came and just started yelling and throwing things, per usual- according to Celestia- she had tried her best to ignore him, but that wasn't working. Once she found her vial, he went on about how she was trying to poison him or something as equally ridiculous." Luna explained.
"Kind of wish she would have planned on poisoning him..." Dusk mumbled.
"You see, she had never told him that she was diabetic, and when she tried telling him that then; well, I think you know how that went. He destroyed the vial- and these vials usually last...roughly twenty days. So, she had no insulin in her system for twenty days. Turns out, she was in the hospital the whole time!" Luna continued. The look on her face screamed that she wanted to break something.
"Calm down, love. It's over now." Dusk attempted to soothe her.
"I know, but it's still so frustrating! To think he almost killed her..." Luna replied.
"So is that why she visited you that day? Did she tell you what was going on?" Rarity asked.
"Yes, Rarity. That is exactly why. She needed to get away from him. That foal she had brought with her, she wanted us to keep it and take care of it. She never told Sombra about the foal, because if she had told him, only Faust knows what he might have done to the poor thing... After that, there was no way in bloody Tartarus I was going to let her go back there." Luna continued.
"We discussed what we were going to do all night..." Dusk said.
"Are you alright, Cadence?" Luna asked once more.
"I-I'm fine..." She said, almost uncertain.
"Are you sure? I don't need to go into...well, that story..." Luna offered.
"No, go ahead. They should know why those rooms in the crystal palace are closed off..." Cadence replied as Luna sighed.
"Alright. The next day, my sister told us a little more about the situation with greater details. I told her that she and the girls were more than welcome to stay for as long as they needed." Luna continued.
"More like told her there was no way you were going to let them go back to the empire..." Dusk mumbled.
"And do you blame me? After all the pain and suffering he caused? Don't you remember what happened that night?" Luna argued.
"I remember that night; we were up all night long trying to make Caddy feel better." Diana said.
"Huh, what exactly happened, darling?" Rarity asked.
"I woke up in the middle of the night crying" Cadence replied.
"Twilight brought her to mother because we didn't really know what to do to help..." Diana said.
"Alright, I think that's enough about this...we don't need to get into great detail about this..." Luna exclaimed.
"I have to agree with Luna on this one; let's just skip ahead to...the end of these darned memories..." Dusk said.
"Well, a little while after what happened, I found out I was pregnant once again. Now, if I'm right, Sunset was three and Dawn was two years old? Is that right?" Luna asked as Dusk nodded.
"We were playing hide and seek outside, Sunset and Dawn decided to go hide near the forest...that's when he...he killed them both" Twilight said as tears escaped her eyes.
"King Sombra killed both of them?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Yes, though for some odd reason, we only found Dawn's body. Sunset's was never found..." Twilight explained.
"So far, we've assumed the worst; we still don't have any real closure..." Cadence said.
"Well, if the body was never found, maybe she didn't die?" Pinkie suggested.
"It is possible she's out there somewhere, but the odds are quite slim considering the fact that auntie Celestia had to take away her Pegasus and earth pony magic when she was born." SDiana replied, getting confused looks from the five mares.
"There were a few technicalities when Sunset was born. From what my sister has told me, her daughter wouldn't have lasted had she not taken away her Pegasus and earth pony magic; it was to ensure her survival. But knowing Celestia, she probably found some way to ensure that her daughter wouldn't be out-lived by her family..." Luna explained.
The silence in the room was deadly. Nopony dared speak. Much to everypony's confusion, Rainbow Dash used her wing to bring Twilight into a tight embrace as the lavender alicorn rested her head on the cyan Pegasus. The others all looked to each other; hoping somepony would have some sort of explanation. After a while, somepony finally broke the silence.
"This still leaves us at a dead end in the investigation" Applejack said.
"The third aura is still a mystery. If they couldn't find a match, that means..." Rarity mentioned.
"This pony is obviously on the run. If this pony's aura didn't match any that are in the database, then it most likely means that this pony does not have any sort of documentation, no written records...in a sense, it's like this pony doesn't even exist..." Diana exclaimed.
"Wait, isn't there a way to change your aura or cloak it so that nopony can track you?" Twilight asked.
"It is possible...but to perform a spell like that...it takes a lot of concentration and power. Not to mention years and years of perfecting it." Dusk replied.
Suddenly, Princess Luna's eyes widened in fear. Something wasn't right, she could feel it. Dusk noticed her wife's distress.
"Are you alright, love?" Dusk asked.
"Something's not right here..." Luna replied, sprinting out of the room at lightning speed.
Dusk, Diana, Cadence and the elements of harmony followed the princess of the night through the castle. She was running so fast that not even Rainbow Dash could keep up with her. After a few more minutes, the group arrived at the door to Celestia's chambers. Luna, not wanting to take anymore chances, barged into her sister's room.
What the group saw in the room, shocked them to say the least. Celestia was unconscious and there was a cloaked figure in the room, ready to shoot the princess with a magical blast. The aura was an aqua color and-from what they saw of the pony- it was a mare with an orange coat, a red and yellow mane and light aqua colored eyes.
For a brief moment, the unknown mare and Twilight's eyes met. The lavender alicorn could have sworn she had seen those eyes somewhere once before, but she just couldn't place it. With a smirk, the mysterious mare vanished.
"She's fine. They used Chloroform to knock her out. She should wake in an hour or two..." Dusk declared.
"Those eyes...I know I've seen them before. But where?" Twilight asked herself.
"What color were her eyes?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Aqua. I Know I've seen them before...but I just can't place them..." Twilight replied, frustrated.
"Hey, you're like, a super-genius; I'm sure you'll figure it out in no-time!" Rainbow exclaimed.
"Thanks, Dash" She replied.
A couple hours later, Celestia regained consciousness and told them all what happened:
"I remember getting up to put away my book and choose another one. All of a sudden, that mare wearing the cloak tackled me to the ground. She kept on saying something about 'abandoning her' and 'keeping her from her true destiny' and 'getting revenge'. After that, she knocked me out with chloroform-why are they so keen on using that stuff on me?- and that's all I remember"
"Why would she say you abandoned her? Do you even know who that mare is?" Dusk asked.
"That's the thing; I don't, but at the same time she seemed so...familiar. But I just can't place her..." Celestia replied.
"Orange coat, Red and Yellow mane, aqua eyes, unicorn...I think I might have figured it out..." Twilight gasped as she grabbed a photo album off one of the shelves in Celestia's room.
She leafed through the various photograhs; there were pictures of both Celestia and Luna's weddings, pictures of Cadence as a filly, of Twilight and Diana and finally the picture Twilight had been looking for; a group picture of all five fillies.
She examined each filly in the photo. Her eyes stopped on the two youngest fillies; Sunset and Dawn. Dawn had a dark blue coat, a light blue mane with purple streaks and teal eyes. Meanwhile Sunset had an orange coat, a red and yellow mane and light aqua eyes. Twilight froze when her gaze fell upon her youngest cousin.
"T-those eyes..." She mumbled.
"Twi, what exactly are ya gettin' at?" Applejack asked.
"They were her eyes..." Twilight said.
"Twilight, that's impossible; Sunset died over a millennium ago. Remember?" Cadence said.
"But we never knew that for certain! We never found her body" She replied.
"True, but what makes you so sure that it's her?" Cadence asked.
"Her eyes. The mare we saw stared right at me-almost as if she knew me- and her eyes are exactly the same as hers. Besides, don't you think that on that day, he didn't kill her, but instead foalnapped her?" Twilight explained.
Everypony was silent. The girls just stood there awkwardly; not too sure what to say or do. Cadence just found it near impossible for Twilight's theory to be true, but at the same time, she desperately wanted it to be true.
"She's right" Celestia broke the silence.
"What?" Luna asked.
"There is a good chance that was Sunset Shimmer" She said.
"But how?" Dusk asked. Celestia sighed.
"Luna, you remember the day the empire disappeared, don't you?" She asked her sister.
"Of course I do; how could I forget? But what's that got to do with this?" She replied.
"Well, while we were in Combat, he said that regardless of what would happen, he would get his vengeance. He also said to keep an eye on the mirror." She explained.
"The mirror? Keep an eye on the mirror? Why?" Dusk asked.
"I once saw a young mare come through it. Orange coat, red and yellow mane, aqua eyes; I'm certain it's the same mare. At the time, I thought I was merely seeing things, but then I followed her. She had gone into the library and took a bunch of books on defensive magic, dark magic and combat spells and left." She continued.
"And you think it's Sunset?" Luna asked.
"Well mother, it would explain why the aura is untraceable..." Diana noted.
"True, but it still doesn't make add up...Sunset is alive when we were all certain she was dead. And now she wants to kill you? Why would she want to kill her own mother?" Luna asked.
"I'm assuming this is Sombra's doing. That mirror was originally in the Crystal palace. My theory is that he took her that day and trained her to be like him...when we went to end is reign; I can only assume he placed a barrier around it and hid her in it. He said to keep an eye on it, and a few years later, somepony found it buried in the snow in Northen Equestria. They brought it to me and I told them it had unpredictable magical properties, so I had it placed in a room and prohibited anypony from entering. Looks like my theory may be more plausible than I thought..." Celestia explained as she sighed. Her daughter that she had lost was alive, but wanted to kill her...
"But how would she know to use the insulin to try to kill you? I mean, she knew to use one that's different from the one you normally take, right?" Pinkie asked.
"Again, I assume king Sombra mentioned it to her and she figured it out on her own. That, or she's clever enough to know that you can kill anypony with an insulin overdose..." Celestia replied.
"Speaking of which, how are your blood-sugar levels?" Luna asked.
"They're perfectly fine, Luna. I've been checking it every hour just to be safe..." She replied as her sister sighed in relief.
"Well, now we know who is behind this, but she like vanished. Who knows where she is now..." Rainbow Dash said.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door; it was lieutenant Thunder Blast.
"Captain Starbright, we have finally found Lyra Heartstrings." He said.
"Alright, thank-you lieutenant. I will be down shortly" She replied as he nodded and made his way back to his post.
"Well, duty calls, I guess. I'll see you later" Dusk said as she kissed her wife.
"See you later, love" She replied.
Down within the castle dungeons, inside a small bleak white room, a mint-colored unicorn mare sat at the small table that was placed in the room. She patiently waited for whoever was going to interrogate her. After being on the run for five years, she was finally caught. Well, I wouldn't say caught per say, it was more like saving her master's flank.
She had only one task left; confess to being the mare behind the coup on Celestia. She had been involved in the planning of the princess's assassination since the beginning around five years ago. Her job was mainly to give her master information regarding Equestria and it's customs. In exchange, Lyra would receive evidence that humans exist. Though the ponies still thought she was crazy for believing humans are real, but one day they will see she was right; when the master's plan succeeds...
"Ah, miss Heartstrings. How are you?" Dusk asked as she entered the room.
"Who are you?" She asked.
"Oh, that's right; you don't know who I am. My name is Dusk Starbright, I'm captain of the Lunar guard" She introduced.
"What do you want with me?" She demanded.
"Oh please! Don't play dumb with me, miss Heartstrings. You've been on the run for over five years now, but what is it that you're running from?" Dusk asked.
"Nothing, I just don't want to be arrested for letting everypony know the truth! I know humans exist!" She exclaimed.
"Miss Heartstrings, we both know that is but an old pony's tale. Now tell me why you're really here" The unicron said.
"I don't know what you're talking about..."The mare replied. Dusk laughed.
"You and I both know that you wouldn't be as reckless as to go somewhere the guards could easily find you. Now tell me, why you let yourself get caught" She replied.
"Fine. I'm the mare you're looking for, captain. I'm the one who tried to kill the princess; I placed her in a diabetic coma with an insulin overdose." She said as she smiled like a madmare.
Dusk was completely taken back by the unicorn's statement. She knew that it was very unlikely that it was Lyra who was behind the attack. But, she couldn't let the mare know that.
"That's impossible. The mare who attacked the princess had a yellow coat; which you clearly don't have." Dusk argued.
"I used an illusion spell to change my appearance. A few days earlier, I ripped a piece of Trixie Lulamoon's cape and planted it in the room to get you off my trail and on hers." Lyra explained.
Due to the truth spell that was cast on the unicorn mare, Dusk knew she was telling the truth, she had to word her questions very carefully.
"Why did you try to kill princess Celestia?" She asked.
Lyra then began to panic ever so slightly; she had not prepared for this. Finally, she came up with an answer.
"Because she's an evil tyrant and she must be stopped!"
"Now tell me, miss Heartstrings why did you chose insulin as your weapon?" The Lunar guard asked; rolling her eyes.
"Because my master said to use insulin" She replied.
"Your master? Who is your master?" Dusk asked, intrigued.
"I don't know, captain" Lyra replied.
So far, Lyra hadn't lied yet, (aside from the part about Celestia being an evil tyrant, of course!) much to the Lunar guard's relief. Though she said she didn't know who she was working for, Lyra may still know something about this pony; any kind of minor detail would help in the investigation.
"Do you know if your master is a mare or a stallion?" She asked.
"No, captain. Personally, I would think that it's a stallion considering the letters are always signed 'the master'; what mare would want to be addressed as such?" The unicorn replied.
"Have you ever seen this 'master' of yours?" She asked.
"No; nopony has" She replied.
"There are others involved in this?" Dusk asked.
"Yes" She replied regrettably.
"Who else is part of this group?" She asked.
"There's BonBon, Blueblood and Sky Trooper as far as I know" She said. At that moment, Dusk left the room for a moment.
"Lieutenant, I need you to tell the rest of the guard to be on the look-out for BonBon, prince Blueblood and Sky Trooper. When these ponies are found, bring them back here and alert me immediately." She ordered.
"Sky Trooper, ma'am?" He asked.
"I'm afraid so, lieutenant. It seems one of our own has turned against us..." She replied.
"I'll get on that right away, ma'am!" He said as he left to perform his orders.
Once he was gone, Dusk returned to the interrogation room where Lyra was still sitting, her hooves on the table.
"Sorry, anyway; do you know where your master lives?" She asked.
"All my master has said about their location is that it is a far-away land where there is no magic" Lyra explained.
"That's not possible; there is no such place" She replied.
Dusk knew very well that such a place did exist, but they've been hiding that fact from everypony for ages. If everypony knew that there was a gateway to a world without magic, they would either panic or they would want to go and explore the strange world; and they couldn't let that happen.
"What do you know?" Lyra argued.
"A lot more than you know, miss Heartstrings. I'm afraid we will have to keep you here for a while; you did try to murder princess Celestia after all and that is still high treason. You will have to excuse me" She replied as she left the interrogation room, leaving Lyra by herself.
Seeing as it was late in the evening, (around 9pm) Dusk made her way back to her and Luna's chambers. Luna was lying on the bed; reading what appeared to be a horror novel.
"Hey sweetheart" She said, noticing her wife entering the room.
"Hey" She replied as she plopped herself onto the bed.
"Long interrogation?" Luna asked.
"You have no idea; Lyra Heartstrings just confessed to trying to kill your sister. And she gave me a list of her accomplices, including this 'master' of hers. I'm assuming Sunset is this 'master' Lyra was talking about. As far as I know, she's been keeping her identity a secret..." She explained.
"Who else was working with her?" Luna asked.
"BonBon, Blueblood and Sky Trooper. I have the guards searching for them as we speak to bring them in for interrogation" She replied.
"Sky Trooper? Really?" Luna asked, shocked.
"Yeah, I'm assuming that's how they were able to even enter the castle..." She replied.
"This is completely mad! After this is over, I think we should just take off for a while..." She exclaimed.
"That would be nice Luna, but we both know the odds of is being able to get away..." Dusk replied.
"I know, but a mare can dream, right?" Luna asked as her wife nodded.
"This is insane. To think it's her daughter who is leading this group...it has got to be killing her inside...I know I wouldn't be able to bear it if one of the girls were doing this to me..." Luna exclaimed.
"I know love, I know...I wonder what happened to her to make her like this..." Dusk wondered.
"I bet you he had something to do with it..." Luna said in slight anger.
"There is no doubt he had hoof in this...but why? I don't understand that..." Dusk wondered.
"I wish I knew..." The moon goddess replied.
