Chapters Dearest Princess Twilight...
Princess Twilight Sparkle, informally known as Twilight, pranced around the castle corridor. She knew her mail was supposed to come, and she has been eagerly awaiting the newest edition of Daring Do And The Amethyst Temple. Why wouldn't she? A chance to be free from all that noise early in the morning caused by the sole reason that Rainbow has to 'train for the Wonderbolts' when she was so clearly asleep. Spike had left her to go to the Crystal Empire as he was needed for their annual Crystal Fair, and as she was settling down from that... Tirek Incident and the destruction of her home and construction on her castle... She needed some time. That was all.
KNOCK KNOCK, the door alerted Twilight to rush and open it. Sure enough, it was the mail pony. The grey mare smiled as she tucked her hoof inside the brown bag. Lifting, a hoof-full of letters.
"They are all for me?" Twilight questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"Nope. These two are." The wall-eyed pony handed her a letter and a box with unknown properties. Twilight scanned the letter front first.
"From Amethyst... Who's that? I don't recall that name." She teared open the envelope top.
Dear Princess Twilight Sparkle,
I'm sorry for disturbing your royal duties. My name is Amethyst. I am an eleven year old unicorn attending currently Ponyville's School For Fillies And Colts. I haven't got my Cutiemark yet, hence I don't know my current destiny. I don't mean to take up much time, but I would like to ask for your guidance and advice. I won't write it in this very letter because I'd first like your approval of writing letters to you. Once again, my apologies for disturbing you.

Twilight scanned over the letter quickly, and sprinted to her desk. She grabbed the quill with her magic and forced it onto a parchment.
Dear Amethyst,
It's no troubles at all, I'm quite happy to make a friend whenever and wherever. It's nice to meet you, Amethyst. I don't mind if you write letters to me, so you have my approval. I await your next letter so I can find out more.
Princess Twilight Sparkle
She trotted to the grey mare, the letter hardly visible through the thick violet aura, putting it in her hoof.
"I will protect this and make sure gets to..." She checked the address, "Ponyville Orphanage!"
"Wait, Ponyville Orphanage?" Twilight reread the address. The mail mare, Derpy, was correct. Amethyst didn't have any parents... I felt my heart break, the poor filly, "could you just wait a second, Derpy?" As soon as she nodded, Twilight beamed, trotting back to the desk with the letter.
Dear Amethyst,

Twilight returned the letter to Derpy, who saluted her with a smile and flew back into the skies.
Dearest Princess Twilight...
[The Next Day]
Twilight awoke with a yawn, strolling down the stairs to the door. She thrusted the door wide open, and stepped outside for fresh air. THUD. Derpy had fallen from the sky, a trail of letters raining down at her. "Good morning, Princess. I have a letter from a pony named Amethyst. Uh... Pony feathers." Derpy sighed, picking off the letters from the ground. She mumbled things like "To Mrs Cake.. Mayor Mare..." And finally, "here it is!" She handed her the stained envelope.
Dearest Princess Twilight,
I can't believe your coming to our little orphanage! How did you know? I thought I was the only pony in Equestria who checked addresses! I sure am glad that you are. Then we can talk to each other more. See, the reason I came to contact with you is because... Well, I've been giving it a lot of thought and I've decided something that may be terrible. Every pony has been yelling and telling me otherwise... So, after a lesson on you... I wanted to ask for your advice. I want to find my family... But I was told they were killed. I just feel like they live, and I want to run away and see them one last time.

It was like a dagger through her beating heart. She the parchment down, grabbed a clear one and began writing.
Dear Amethyst,
Firstly, they've added me to the curriculum already? Secondly, If there is one thing I have learnt during my years in Ponyville, it's listen to your heart. That's the advice I would like to give to you. Listen to your heart, it will lead you to the correct path. If you choose to leave, stay until I visit. I'm coming tomorrow. Wait for me!

"Derpy!" She called. The mare had vanished. She shrugged, and the lavender pony went to the desk and crossed out the words 'tomorrow'.
She galloped to the Ponyville Orphanage. She had to see that unfortunate filly. She just had to. It wasn't a hope, it was a necessity.
Dearest Princess Twilight...
The door slung wide open, and Twilight stepped in. "Your Highness... We weren't expecting you. Well, one of use were. Do enter!" Twilight smiled and bowed her head respectfully.
"Could I ask if it was Amethyst expecting me?"
"So you are writing letters to each other! She refuses to let us read them, something about 'Boundaries'. Would you like to see her?"
"Yes please." The mare lifted her right hoof and bowed, pointing at the staircase. Climbing up, Twilight noticed five or four young children staring at her, some whispering excitedly,
"Princess Twilight Sparkle!" The mare couldn't help but giggle. They climbed up to the roof, then up a set of ladders to get to the attic. There were two more rooms, one on the left and one on the right.
"This one, Princess... I'm sorry, but could you please wear this? To prevent germs spreading. See, we can't afford much more, especially not medication." She handed her a surgical mask. The princess nodded, threw it around her muzzle, and opened the door. Twilight couldn't help but cough, the amount of dust was unhygienic. She searched the whole room, but Amethyst was no where to be seen. "Oh, I'm sorry. Amethyst is up the ladder probably." She knocked on the roof of the room. A trap door opened, a ladder opening up with it. Tonnes of books dropped as it did.
"Ponyfeathers." A young, cheery voice echoed through it. They were lifted up with a lilac aura. An extremely light blue unicorn with lilac hair tightly stuffed into a pony tail, held together with an indigo ribbon. She paused, looked at the princess, and for a second it looked as if she was going to go unconscious.
"Are you okay?"
"I... Princess...You came?" Was all she could say. Twilight nodded happily in reply.
"Here, it's a letter for you." She smiled as she levitated the parchment to the little filly. Amethyst quickly lunged at it and read it within seconds. She began to tearfully whisper, then pulled Twilight up the ladder. Closing the door when they were up, Twilight stared in awe at the amount of books there. "Wow! You must be the spoiled one!"
"No. I guess my family felt bad for me when giving me to the orphanage and payed for the most expensive room."
"Your still planning to go look for them?" There was a moment of silence when she nodded.
"I feel like they're closer than I think. Hey, we have the same highlights in our hair!" Amethyst was indeed correct, for a hot pink and indigo stripe was on both their manes.
"Maybe we're sisters!" Amethyst jokingly claimed, suddenly going quiet, "Twilight, I know this sounds silly... But can you be my sister for the day?"
"Sure! It'll be fun, I need company anyway."
"Really?"
"Mmhmm." Amethyst's green eyes sparked, and her joyful smile looked as if it could burst. She grave a deep breath and closed her eyes, looking like she was in a deep trance. An annoying image of Pinkie Pie appeared in her mind.
She's an evil enchantress, she does evil dances, and if you look deep in her eyes, she'll put you in trances! Then what will she do? She'll mix up and evil brew. Then she'll gobble you up in a big tasty stew... So-
*Shut up Pinkie* Twilight thought aggressively.
"So...what do sisters usually do?"
"You don't know? Oh, well... Would you like to read a book?"
"I've read every single one you see here."
"Alright, this one then?"
"Great!" Twilight pulled out the new edition. She slung open the book cover and began to read.
"Daring Do And The Amethyst Temple."

As the princess ended the book, she looked at Amethyst who had her cheek rested on her body. Twilight gave her a little nuzzle. She had never seen a single pony with the same. Highlights as her... It was like a birthmark. She was going to complete a test because maybe, Just maybe, that pony is a relative.
Her aura enveloped over her horn, and a shade of purple grew until it was covering it. Amethyst's lilac aura shone too, and Twilight placed her horn on Amethyst's. If they were related or had a connection, a spark of magic would appear. Sure enough, a spark of magic appeared. Amethyst was Twilight Sparkle's little sister.
Dearest Princess Twilight...
[Two Weeks Later]
Twilight Sparkle sat down, her head in her hoofs. She was getting worried, every time she sent a letter saying she was her sister she would not get a reply. Coming to think if it, use he would not get a reply. She decided to go and visit the Orphanage one last time.
"Morning, Twilight. Where are you going?"
"To the Ponyville Orphanage!" She yelled, galloping as fast as she could.
Panting, she threw herself through the door of the Orphanage. She cantered up the stairs like a mad pony, and shoved Amethyst's door open. Lying on the bed, next to a member of staff of the Orphanage, was Amethyst.
"Amethyst? What's going on?" I cried, my eyes stung with pain... She looked sick, pale.
"Twilight? Please come here..."
"Yes? What is it?"
"Take this... Promise you won't read it until tomorrow night."
"Okay... Anything for you. Amethyst, I'm your sister."
"I know."
"What?"
"They told me today, the mail boxes were filled with your letters. I'm so happy. I have found my family, and I can't have wanted anymore. Also, look in that box. It's the one that says most 'precious belongings'." Twilight peered inside. It was empty, but there were more than one things in their.
"This is every letter I sent you... And my book."
"Yes, it is. Listen, you need to go now. I'm okay, but I'm tired."
"Alright. Goodnight."
Dearest Princess Twilight...
[Next Night]
Twilight hesitantly took the letter she had received from Amethyst. Reading it was hard... Really hard. For it read,
Dear Sister,
I have had the best time of my life... The best I could ever want. I found out what it means to be loved, To have a family. I want to thank you... But I have to tell you the truth now. I can only hope you don't take it too hard. I was diagnosed with a dangerous and life threatening disease when I was born. It was estimated I would die when I was a year old. They were surprised to discover I was living for more. By the time i was three, they expected that it had vanished completely, but looking closer they learnt that it was dormant however this wouldn't last long. It would come to action in my life, but unable of know when, all expected I would leave life in any second. That was a big possibility, but god so kindly have me a chance to learn how to feel alive even though your dying. I think my mother and father didn't want to see me die, that's why they abandoned me.
My time grows short. The reason I told you to read this tomorrow night was because I am currently dying. I didn't want you to see me leave... This is hard enough already... I want to tell you one more thing until I do pass away.

By the time Twilight had finished reading, she was crying. The letter was stained with tears. She couldn't look at the name... She didn't want to. Her body stiffened. Then she realised... Listen to you heart... Was a quotation of her advice! She wiped her tears...
"Rest In Peace... Sister."

Twilight stared at the gravestone. It was decorated with flowers, all from Twilight. There was one more gift she wanted her little sister to have. She placed it onto her grave, a tear strolling down her cheek.
It was a book covered in wrapping paper.
A book called Daring Do And The Amethyst Temple.
A book wrapped in wrapping paper with a note to a filly.
A filly named Amethyst Sparkle.

Dearest Princess Twilight...
Twilight didn't know what to do or say when Amethyst was awake. She had all the right mind to tell the little filly... But how?
"Uh, listen Amethyst... I need to tell you something."
"What is it, Princess?"
"Firstly, you don't need to be so formal. It's Twilight, and secondly... I am your-"
"My what?"
"Your... Friend. I need to go back to the castle... To address an important matter."
"Oh. Okay then, keep writing to me and visit soon!"
"One more thing, why did you say in your last letter I want to run away and see them one last time[\i]" Amethyst hung her head in response, shook her head finally and smiled.
"Nothing."
"Oh, alright. Well, this was fun. Goodbye!"
"See you soon." Amethyst waved back to the princess, watching the lavender pony leave. Amethyst turned, noticing Twilight's book was still there. She picked it up and hugged it, putting the book in her most precious objects box.

The princess needed time to calm her down more than ever. She had to confront her mother... Why would she abandon her third child. She knew Shining Armour would have enjoyed another filly's company, as would I... Why would she abandon her?
She knew what she would have to do... But first, she had to tell Amethyst. She was going to write a letter to her the next day. No, Spike was going to come tomorrow, she would be too busy. She would have to write a letter the next week.
She walked to her bed, for it was night now. She felt her eyes grow heavy for her, and soon she had fallen to sleep and entered the realm of dreams.
