I wander, I wander the world alone. In this land of which they previously called Equestria. But now, of course, now it is simply known as The smoldering isles. The name doesn't particularly roll off my tongue such as Equestria does, but it is the first thing that comes to mind. I am nocturnal sunshine, daughter of dusk beam, daughter of the great twilight sparkle, My grandmother. But, she doesn't, or didn't exactly appear to be that much older than me, for she looks , or rather looked about my age.
She isn't though, she was definitely not my age. See... She was an Alicorn, an immortal, she did not age, she was , as Celestia and Luna were, a princess, goddess. One of the most powerful beings of Equestria. I have thought upon myself to begin writing a journal, for, I don't exactly speak to that many ponies. Not really anypony roams around the smoldering isles as do , so I decided I should write this for, A sort of social act with myself, which I think sounds strange.
I have'n't really walked as much as I had hoped I would today but, quite frankly, I'm exhausted. All I could find to eat when I awoke was a singular strawberry , so I'm not really as energized as usual. It's hard to find fruit in the Smoldering isles, since all the plants are stained black and not many grow fruit. But usually I do find more. Every day I wander, and wander, hoping to find what I have lost... My mother, My father... My sister... And lastly, my grandmother, I lost them, About twelve years ago. Back when I was only six years old.

It was a beautiful bright day in Equestria , me , my mother and sister were visiting a local park in Ponyville, when suddenly, we heard a loud bang. It made our ears ring for about than five to ten minutes. I was scared, as were my mother and sister. In a few moments, boulders crashed down from the sky, as if out of nowhere, I could hear ponies screaming, crying, and sadly... Dying too. It was one of the worst moments of my life. I saw so many crushed ponies who were lying under boulders, bodies a mess. Those poor souls had been running around frantically trying not to be completely obliterated in one single smash off the face of Equestria.
As was I, and my mother and sister.
Angel star, my sister, who was much older then me, about seven years to be exact, lifted me into the air and onto her back with her magic. I remember wrapping my hooves around her neck so tightly because of the speed she was going, I don't think she had ever gone so fast in her life. As we ran, fire sparked from the sky, into dangerous orbs of flames, I can't recall what happened after though, because I think I passed out, fainted or something like because I don't remember anything else. The memory aligned in my mind after that was of me awaking in a scorched building,Nopony in sight, Nopony there but me. I trotted around the abandoned landscape after leaving the ruined building.
Everything was smoking, and all the ground was pitch Black and stained with blood. I will never forget what I had witnessed that day, in my mind I see it as if it only just happened. And now, I search, and search for answers, and for what I've lost. I wish to know why this happened, what caused it, and why I survived. I want to know where my family is, I want to know if they're still are among the living. I want to know if there is anyway of finding out. Will I always be searching for answers? Will I ever be with any of my family again? I have no clue... But I have to try.
Everyone tells me I will be lucky to find a single spec of the answers to my questions. Deep down I know this, but I have to keep up my hope. There is little hope these days. I believe there are only Pegasus flyers in The smoldering isles , no Unicorns like me, hay no Earth Ponies either, and even the Pegasi don't fly around here often, I would be lucky to see one per month, or even one per two. It doesn't matter though, cause they never help me. They ignore me, even when I call for help. I know they can hear me, I know it, but they don't respond.
Even when I'm wounded, and when I cannot walk, they don't help. The Pegasi are a cruel and ruthless race, even if they helped, I wouldn't be able to trust them. They take joy in the pain of other ponies, this is why I hate Pegasi. Swift, and deadly...
The only thing I found today was an old Church surrounded by charred trees. I wandered inside to look for anything that may help me the slightest on my journey, all I found were... Old Burnt... Ponies. It was horrible. The bodies were mostly ones of fillies and colts, the others were mares, and two were priests. All they had on them when they tragically died where... little trinkets from their lives. It all sent shivers down my spine and made the hairs in My Yellow and Silver Mane stand on end.
I doubt I will be able to sleep tonight...

Today I woke up with the strangest feeling, As if I had missed something . I thought about yesterday. I ended up pondering the memories of the day, Of what I saw in the Church, Thinking "Perhaps I missed something while in there." . I hadn't though, I saw every single little detail that was possible to see. It was quite traumatising really.
I found more food this time, A whole bunch. Apples, grapes and Strawberry's , and A whole lot of each. They where growing in an old apple orchard. I'll try and remember to go back there sometime cause there was a water supply too.I ate them all, they was very satisfying to say the least. I am getting closer and closer everyday in finding my family, even if I haven't found any "real" evidence. But today I found some hoof prints in the dirt. I know they could belong to anypony, But it could be one of the ponies I'm looking for, a pony who knows something, and I think my theory may still hold water. even if it's only slightly. I ended up following them but soon, the dirt turned into what used to be a grey stone path, now stained black. There was no longer any hoof prints to follow. I ended up just following the path to see where it may lead and to see if whoever belonged to those hoof prints went this way.
Right now I'm sitting on the road writing in this old blank book, slowly filling the nothingness of it with what I have been doing each day. I'm about to take out my bedroll to sleep, I can't be bothered setting anything else up. I have been walking down this road for hours, and its getting dark already. I want some rest and a lot of it to make up for last night since I only got a couple of hours sleep.

Why is it that when everything is finally starting okay, something plainly annoying and stupid has to happen?
Because When I woke up today, I heard the cries of a Mare in pain. When I heard it I thought I should see if I could help them, so I followed the sound. When I finally got to the pony, she was a wounded Pegasus!
I don't know what I was thinking, but I helped her. She was stuck under a fallen charred tree, screaming in agony as she was being crushed under the force of the tree. When I finally got the tree off her, she had already passed out. I examined her, and I think she may have several broken ribs , a broken wing, and a dislocated Foreleg. Of course I don't know for sure since I'm not a doctor or anything, but she does most definitely have several huge gashes and bruises all over her. I cleaned her wounds, and all the blood that covered her light grey coat, and the bit of blood that covered her Purple blue and red mane.
I can't believe how stupid I am, to help some random Pegasus who is stuck under some a random tree, when I know I can't trust any of their kind!
when she wakes up how do I know she won't try and kill me? Why am I so stupid? To help a Pegasus when none of her kind has ever helped me is an insanely stupid thing to do!
Why did I have to help?

I had no sleep last night. Pretty much like three or four minutes.
It's hard to keep yourself together when you are sleep deprived from two nights.
I ended up getting up out of my bedroll when I heard grunts of pain. No doubt it was coming from the Pegasus. I hesitantly walked in the little tent I had originally pitched for myself, but because of the... turn of events, The Pegasus got it. I ended up under the stars with all sorts of pesky bugs biting me. She also gained the padding for my bedroll, I know I can't trust her, but I couldn't let a helpless injured pony sleep in the dirt.
I really don't know why I had to hear her scream, why did I have to be there? It would have been a lot easier if somepony else was there and not me. All I gained from it was no sleep and heaps of bug bites.
I really needed that sleep.
But like I was saying, or rather writing, I entered the tent to see the mare up, struggling to walk. I think I ended up startling her, because when she looked over at me she fell over, hurting her broken wing more letting out a little squeal. I felt deeply sorry for her. I extended my hoof to help her up. She hesitated. She Ended up grabbing my hoof in the end, but I could tell she wasn't happy. I wouldn't expect her to be of course, she had a broken wing , a dislocated hoof and more, and she woke up in a strange tent not knowing where she was. And then she see's a random Unicorn rushing in for Celestia knows what! If I were in her horse shoes, I wouldn't be happy either.
I tried to get myself to speak, but it was to no Avail. We both stood there just glaring around the tent for a few minutes, But then she began To say Something. "W-what Am I doing here?" She Paused "Who Are you? A-and, do you know what happened to my leg?" I looked at her sadly as I started thinking of what to say, I then found the words.
"I-I..." She Got Impatient.
" Just, spit it out already." I looked at her angrily and began again
"I found you under a collapsed burnt Tree. You were screaming and when I got to you, you had already passed out from the pain. I didn't know What to do... So I brought you here and treated your wounds. Now if you could please be less rude and not interrupt next time." I finished turning to the entrance of the tent.
I'm pretty sure she glared at me. "You didn't answer my other Question. Who are you?" She said. I turned to face her "My name is Nocturnal Sunshine. And who are you?" I asked in return. "Ruby Soar" She Answered.
"Well Ruby," I began. "When Your Wing Heals, We Part Ways. Deal?" She Looked Rather annoyed as I said that, I wondered why at the time."Hey, I leave when I wanna leave!" She then paused "Deal?!" She finished in an imitated voice clearly meant to mock me. I grunted. "Fine."
I could tell from there that this was not going to be fun.

I'm sitting on the ground watching that daft Pegasus attempt to chase a lizard. She has been trying for over an hour and no matter how many times I tell her not to because it will only hurt her more, she continues! I don't know why she insists on chasing it, I think she said she wanted to catch it for something stupid. She hasn't caught it and is just wasting her time, she is barely running because she can't walk on one of her hooves, so she keeps tripping! Never in my life have I met such a stupid pony who gets on my nerves as much as her, And she keeps calling me Nocty! what kind of nickname is that?
The Annoying thing is that I'm stuck with her until her injury's heal and after that who knows how long she will want hang around!
I still haven't gotten any rest, three nights in a row now, I don't think that's healthy. She kept me awake with her snoring, Which I could hear from fifteen feet away from the tent. I have heaps on bug bites on me now that are annoying me so much!
She is the most Infuriating pony I have ever met!
