28.View Online100 Words: A Challenge of Prompts28.Style: Human Pairing: Princest Rating: T Cold “Tia’?” Luna glanced away from her book so quickly she hadn't even lost her place. “Hmm…?” Celestia replied coyly from her cozy nestling against her sister's arm. “Have you need of something?” This time her eyes didn’t come off the page, continuing at her leisurely pace to read of historical female knights. “No… I suppose I’m just a bit chilly.” Celestia snuggled closer next to her sister, who was comfortably reclined against the headboard and a few pillows behind her. “Could you not have gotten warmer clothes, or perhaps make your way into your own bed?” Luna flipped the page, her eyes still very focused on the off white pages and black text, though one corner of her lips upturned in suggestion of amusement towards her sister's antics. “Oh, well I certainly could have... or just as easily found a maid to bring me some hot tea.” Crawling her fingers up Luna’s bare forearm slowly, knowing how much it positively distracted her, Celestia smiled. Celestia reached the back of her hand, where she lazily grazed her nails over her knuckles, content to touch her sister but also wanting her attention. “But you’ve come to my room to snuggle instead,” Luna said. She turned her head down towards her sister, settled affectionately on her shoulder, and smiled, kissing her on the top of her waving hair and noting the particularly subtle hint of summer breeze. Chuckling softly, Celestia reached an arm over her sister’s warm stomach. “I may have come for more than just a snuggle,” Celestia smirked, extending her neck to reaching Luna’s jaw with her lips. Luna lips returned the favour, not only in the saucy curve of her mouth, one cheek slightly higher than the other, but in the way she crained herself to seal her lips over her sister’s before letting Celestia settle her leg over her as well. The older princess threaded her fingers through her sister’s midnight hair, expertly minding her ebony tiara. She broke their kiss to peck along edges of her hair, sending shudders down her sister’s spine with feather light kisses on her forehead. Luna hummed warmly. “So what has brought this on?” she asked while her hands became occupied with the swell of her sister’s hips starting from the thighs astride her. Circles were drawn over the fabric of Celestia’s white dress, a sensation that she knew her sister loved. “I told you already, I was cold.” Celestia whispered in Luna’s ear before she began to nip at it. The moon princess bit her lip, distracted for a moment. “It’s the middle of summer." Luna's unimpresses laughed came much throatier than she had anticipated. "You can come up with a better excuse than that.” “I don’t need to. It’s working, isn’t it?” Celestia asked with a smile as she began to shift her hips against her sister in a subtle rhythm. The hand that wasn’t playing with her sister’s starry mane was gliding up her sister’s stomach to massage her breasts through her gown. It would have been more enjoyable to both parties had Luna not been so fond of her cupped corseted dresses. Nevertheless, Luna groaned, enjoying the weight and warmth of her Celestia’s hand. Before her sister could continue teasing the sensitive areas of her neck, Luna pressed her lips to the column of her sister’s neck, kissing her from her necklace regalia to her soft lips, and then chuckling into her mouth, “Yes, I suppose it is.”

Rosey cheeked and giggling, they found the courage to present their special someponies with hoof made cards of pink and red. Where some were rejected with bashful gasps of embarrassment, others we're rewarded with timid but excited pecks on the cheeks. Secret admirers waited under the trees and behind the bushes for the crushes they'd tucked their notes in desks for. Celestia loved walking along the school and peering out of the windows at the lovestruck youngsters. What greater source of goodness was there in the world than the pure innocence of puppy love? A nudge against her long alabaster leg took her from her thoughts that lay beyond the window to the little lavender filly. Bashful eyes were covered with her highlighted bangs as a strawberry milk colored construction paper card was timidly levitated. “Ah, Twilight Sparkle, my faithful student," the alicorn greeted. "While it’s always lovely to see you outside of our lessons, why aren’t you at the school yard on a day like today. I know how fond you are of sitting by your tree to read.” “I- um- have a gift for somepony,” she said quietly, not daring to look the princess in the eyes even after the caring mentor lifted her chin carefully with a hoof. “I see. It must that lovely heart you have floating behind you. And I must say, I’m glad to see you’ve been working on your levitation on your own it. It's much improved.” The little filly smiled at the praise, always loving to the way it sounded when it flowed from the princess’ lips. “Well, the heart is special. I didn’t want to dampen the edge of it with my mouth.” “Very understandable,” Celestia said with a smile. She never liked to play favorites, but it never took too long for Celestia to note how much she took a liking to this quirky filly in particular. “So I take it, the pony you intend to give this special heart to is inside, instead of on the yard,” she said much too knowingly. Twilight nodded vigorously. “I-” She stopped to take a tremendously breath, suddenly much more nervous than when she'd only come across the princess gazing at the other’s outside. “As you know Princess, today is Hearts and Hooves day, and while historically there are discrepancies as to the real origin and intent of this holiday, contemporarily it has become a time when ponies tell other ponies, who they greatly admired, how much they appreciate them, and I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate you Princess Celestia, so here.” The poor little dear miraculously said the whole thing in one breath. As she panted before the princess, trying to dissipate the tomato shade her face had taken on, Celestia inspected the crafted heart folded like a greeting card, which had been more or less shoved into her face. As a princess, Celestia was bombarded with dozens, hundreds even, of Hearts and Hooves day cards. Some were sent by suitors, mostly young and naive, not quite tired yet of her constant, but polite rejection. A few, from random foreign dignitaries who wished to respectfully observe her nation’s holidays in a show of good blood between their people. But mostly, she received cards from the fillies in her school for gifted unicorns. She loved receiving these, and shuffled through them all when time allowed, even though some where just extra arts and crafts by those who’d finished their originals early. She would always have them carefully gathered and stored away. But this, this little heart was carefully cut. The edges were painfully smooth and both sides of the card were perfectly symmetrical. A drawn image of her and her student, sitting next to each other by their favorite body of water behind the school was under beautiful, for a filly, hoof written text. It read: “Dear Princess Celestia, I won’t ask you to be my special somepony because you already are. Thank you for being the best mentor and friend I’ve ever had ever! I hope we can be together for forever. Love, Your faithful student, Twilight Sparkle” When she lowered the card from her face, there was nothing but the look of utmost benevolence. The princess was used to Hearts and Hooves days cards from ponies she’d hardly see more than a few times a year, but Celestia hadn’t been given a card so painstakingly created for her by somepony she considered more than an associate in a very long time. It was simple, yet so clearly meticulously crafted. No doubt it was the creation of her beloved student. “This is absolutely beautiful, Twilight.” “Really?!” The purple filly finally brought her eyes to Celestia’s, searching to assure herself of the truth from the new praise. But she didn’t even need to look. There was enough conviction in Celestia’s voice to prove to anyone that she was truly grateful for this gift. “Yes, of course. I love it. This will be sitting on display for a long time, if you’ll allow me?” Twilight gasped. “Yes! Yesyesyesyesyes!” She skipped happily around the Celestia until a slight clear of the throat brought her back down to earth. “Well then, my little pony, it looks as though there is no need for me to offer a proposal in return. I think I can assume that you’re my special somepony too.” She really couldn’t help herself. Hearing the princess say it just filled her with even more joy. “Yesyesyesyesyesyes-” BRRRRRRRING Both ponies looked up, one terribly startled and the other slightly upset that their time together was done. Before the halls where filled with unicorns shuffling to get to their classed, Celestia carefully pulled Twilight next to her with a powerful wing and nestled her with the side of her cheek. “It looks like it’s time to get back to class my faithful student. Thank you again for the best Hearts and Hooves day card I’ve been given in a very long while.” “The best?” Twilight asked with wide eyes, hardly believe this accomplishment. “The very best. Now off to class, my special little pony and I’ll see you tomorrow for our lesson.” Before Twilight left, she hugged the princess by the leg one last time and gave her her goodbyes. The hallways filled with lovestruck little ponies walking side by side with the special someponies who had accepting their proposals, and Celestia stood there watching for a moment as they swarmed past her. None seemed to be glow with happiness quite like to the little bundle of quirky purple that disappeared around the corner. Realizing she been standing in the way for too long, as told by the giggling whispers that were pointed at the card she floated much too closely to herself, the princess made her way to the castle. It may have been a tad unprofessional, but she wanted to display Twilight’s card on the special bookshelf in her personal room. Puppy love. The thought appeared in her mind. She blinked it away, not realizing she levitated the gift just a smidge closer.

Their laughter tickled through the air and hung, suspended like a leaf or two which hadn’t drifted down from the tip of a branch and swung in the wind, nearly but not quite able to blow away. It was in the way she would watch this swirling wonder, of children and leaves as the wind picked up, with a warmth in her spinel eyes that betrayed the borrowed appearance of the cozy jacket she nestled into and the crystallized air that drifted from her mouth in an exchange for the food she took in, one bite at a time. It was in the way they flocked to her, like torrents of water pouring through the cracks of rocks, flooding and swirling, with questions and wide eyed curiosities and awe inspired blushes as she complemented their hair or called them by name after polite introductions. Until, their young spans of attention would reach their peak, and they dispersed, leaving he to tend to the trickle of adults that found it easier to approach her while her throne was only a park bench. It was in the way she crossed her leg over her knee instead of at the ankles, and clasped her thermal with both hands, slender and graceful and never too cold to accept a handshake. It was in the way she rose from her seat, glad to have gotten a moment to pretend that her guards weren’t waiting at a safe shouting distance away. Her eyes would sweep over the auburn and orange park, taking in the detail of every last vein on the dry leaves, her breath would take in a deep inhale of the crisp air, absorbing the detail of every last fragrance of natural potpourri. She would stand for a meditative beat before taking her steps toward her chariot at the rusty entrance gates. It was in the way she stopped being a goddess, donning her only other public option as a princess, but became more than that. It was in the way she reminded them that she was real. Alive. Approachable. Not just a survived priceless artifact of the past in a glass case, that never failed to make Twilight fall even more in love with Celestia.

Style: Pony Pairing: Twilestia Rating: Teen Apologies The letters became few, like a mighty river drying to a trickle in the midst of a drought. Celestia was worried. She was always worried for her student, so faithful and dependable, but this worry was vain. A summons was sent and just as she feared not only had the letters dwindled but the sparkle in Twilight’s eyes had dimmed. She was excited, yes, to have been called by her teacher to the palace, but it was done so with the pretense of another emergency. What is it this time, was heard in “how can I help you, Princess,” and when the debriefing was done, bows and goodnights were offered, so very perfunctory. Seven days would pass before the task needed to be tended to, and it had been brought to Celestia’s attention that Twilight had been sulking for four of them. “Why didn’t you tell me?” Celestia asked immediately, using her authority -more motherly than royal- to slip her way into Twilight’s room. “I didn’t think you cared.” Twilight relinquished into the dark room. Neither bothered to light the candles around the living space. “How could you ever think that?” Her heart hammered behind her chest. She was a bit surprised it remembered how to behave when nervous beyond comfort. Celestia could feel the words on Twilight’s lips because they hung in the air, suspended like thin wires not even her millennial grace could completely tread. “Because you sent me away.” Tears flowed, watering the seeds of both hurt and healing as more words were whispered into the night. A hug, so warm, so few and far apart for those two beings in respect to age, was more than welcomed. Then a kiss, so dangerous, so freeing and confining for these two mares in respect to daily role, was more than welcomed. And an apology stung Twilight’s skin in accord to the soft but searing lips that intended to make her melt. Over and over again, the apology landed. On her cheek, under her ear, on the nap of her neck, on the newly exposed slope of her shoulder. The apology followed them to the bed, and was not only branded into Twilight but returned to the princess. Misunderstandings, silly misunderstands, and hidden feelings, and things kept unsaid, were brought to light in the shadow of the room. They fumbled through the dark like the hooves that caressed with the same apology as the lips. I’m so sorry, was pressed into the trembling expanse of Twilight’s stomach. I didn’t mean to upset you, quivered into Celestia’s ear as nervous hooves dove between goddess flesh. In the morning, before the sun was risen but too far into the night to still be considered so, Celestia roused from the tangled embrace that kept her warmer than her precious celestial responsibility. One last kiss found her student’s lips, gently to keep her slumbering and without the apology tangled between. Celestia looked down to the peaceful face, to find all traces of sadness wiped away. She couldn’t see the sparkle but she was sure of glow that haloed her body. When the task was done and Twilight returned to her friends in Ponyville, Celestia was glad to see that the drought had passed. Twilight still needed Celestia, and Celestia still needed her.

She needed anything with a spine and leafs filled with words that she could read! Friends! Ha! Who needed those when she had history books, and novels, poems, and biologies. Well, those could be her friends. Mother said she needed sunlight every so often, but Twilight was smart. If she read enough she could get all the sunlight she wanted. Books would help her gain knowledge then power then the only friend she’d need, besides Shiny, and book, of course, was the princess. That’s who this was far! For the princess! After seeing the princess lift the sun at the Summer Sun Celebration, Twilight all but digested books now. Mastering levitation so early gave her the ability to carry many books around her all the time. It was like she was followed by a swarm. A smart knowledgeable nice swarm that didn’t call her an egg head or a spaz or a nerd or a bookworm or a know-it-all. It wasn’t her fault he misquoted Gatespeare. And he called himself a tutor. Books! They smelled amazing, especially the new ones. A tingle always ran through her as she bent a book back for the first time. Listening to creases of the first page opening, then down the middle, the hardcover hitting the wood table. It was like the offering of a virgin to the high temple spirits and- Mother had taken Ancient Tribal Customs V:II away from her. After Twilight reached it from the high shelf her mother took it again and hid it. Twilight kept two books under her pillow and four under her mattress corners and one in the closet in her room as well as in one in the hall. In the laundry room, the kitchen, the yard where daddy keep his tools. In Shiny’s room and the bakery down the street and in a flower bed near a taxi stop and a hollow old tree in the park. Just in case you know. Books were a home away from home while she was home or out in the market with her mom. She loved them, her books. Took care of them. When she was younger and more foolish she had tried to bath with them, but one doesn’t make that devastatingly tragic mistake twice. No sir. She could never get enough, never learn enough. There was always time to read a book, even if it meant forgoing sleep for a few days. She loved books with a passion. She ignored those who called it an obsession. It was not. She could stop reading anytime she wanted to. Not that she ever wanted too. Books and Shiny, and the princess where the only things that mattered and one day Twilight would get to have them all to herself and she would live happily ever after with her best friends. A fairy tale ending, just like her books!
