Twilight ran into the Canterlot Castle. She’s not sure why but Princess Celestia needed her urgently. She was a little scared when Spike barfed up the letter. She was worried that Celestia needed her and her friends to the end of the world talk. At least that’s what Rainbow calls it. She looked through the Canterlot Castle for Celestia or at least Luna. She couldn’t find them. That’s when she started to freak out. “Oh no, oh no, oh no!” Twilight screamed,

“Don’t worry, I bet she’s here somewhere?” Spike said comforting Twilight,

“What if she’s dead! What if she’s been captured! What if” Twilight yelled,

“Twilight, cool it. She’s like … 90% fine. I’m sure of it” Spike moaned.

“But what if she’s not” Twilight yelled while grabbing Spike and swinging him back and forth, “There is that 10% that she is not fine!”

Suddenly a guard appeared. He was a white stallion, his armor was obviously newly polished and his brown mane was slicked back. “Princess Twilight” the stallion graciously said while bowing. Twilight did love being a princess, but she hated this part of being a princess. She loved having new responsibilities and all, but being famous was just not for her. Everywhere she goes ponies get all excited and bow to her. Most of the time she really wishes she were a regular unicorn again.

“Uh … please just Twilight, and no need to bow” Twilight moaned. The guard got up from bowing. Now that Twilight was really looking at him she felt like as if she knew him from somewhere. Maybe somepony told me about him or something, Twilight thought. The guard grabbed Twilight by her hoof and pulled her down the hall. “Let me go!” Twilight screeched. She squirmed around trying to slip away, but the guard wouldn’t budge. She looked behind her to see Spike chasing after her, but two other guards pulled him away to a dark room. “Spike!” Twilight yelled, “What are they doing to him?”

The guard didn’t answer. He pulled her harder to make sure she wouldn’t get away. The more Twilight squirmed and pulled, the guard pulled harder. Twilight couldn’t keep up with the guard. For a unicorn, he ran pretty fast. They approached a hallway Twilight was unfamiliar with. In fact, Twilight had never seen the hallway before in her life. She never even knew about this when she lived in the castle for her independent studies.

The guard approached a door and let go of Twilight. “I’m sorry Princess Twi- er um Twilight. I promise your little friend Spike is fine, he should be eating some gem right now actually,” the guard said,

“Then why did you have to pull me through the hallways?”

“It was for your own safety, and security.”

“Why?”

“Not even I know, but we’ll find out.”

The guard looked at her in a way that nopony has looked at Twilight before. Twilight looked at him back, mainly in confusion. The guard shook his head and opened the door. The room was completely dark, but for one giant book in the middle of the room that was glowing. The book was brown and had golden pages on the side of it. Twilight didn’t know what the book was, but she hoped she would be able to read it. Any book for Twilight could read right now would be nice for Twilight. She would feel like a unicorn.

A big black shadow appeared behind the big book. Twilight took a step back with the guard. The guard swung his arm in front of Twilight, making her feel more protected. The shadow came closer until she said, “No need to fear” a blue alicorn with the night sky mane came out of the darkness. It was none other then Princess Luna. The guard took a sigh of relief then put his hoof down.

“My apologies princess, I thought you were an intruder” the guard sighed,

“No worries, you did good. If I was an intruder you would have protected Twilight” Luna cheered. The guard smiled. He felt good doing the right thing, he thought she would have been mad at him because of her history. “My sister would like to see you Princess Twilight,” Luna told Twilight. Her horn started to light up with a blue magic aura and the princess of the night lit the way to a door with Princess Celestia’s cutie mark.

Twilight took a gulp nervous about what she was about to encounter. She walked to the door as the other ponies looked at her. Twilight was never so nervous before in her life. She was worried that she was in huge trouble, or maybe something happened to one of her friends. She looked back at the blue alicorn with a little “what is going on?” face, Luna gave a smile that Twilight could see that everything was going to be all right. Ever since Luna came back from the Moon, Twilight has gotten to know her a bit better. Twilight opened the door with her magic. The door lit up with a purple maroon aura. The door creaked open and Twilight saw a library full of golden books she has never seen so many books in her life.

There was a white alicorn with a rainbow mane reading a book. Celestia noticed Twilight. She let go of her book with her magic, and the book magically floated up and put itself back in its original spot in the library. Twilight had never seen such magic before in her life. “Hello, my former student Twilight,” Celestia said. Twilight ran up to her and hugged her. She hadn’t seen Celestia ever since Tirek came. The alicorn accepted the hug. When Twilight and Celestia ended their hug Celestia pulled out a book from a high shelf and read the title. “No, that’s not it” she sighed. She let go of the book and watched it rise up to where it was.

“Wow, Spike would like this library, less cleaning” Twilight laughed. Celestia laughed along with her then continued her search for a book.

“What are you looking for?” Twilight asked,

“A special book, I have a feeling this book might suit you.”

“Is this why you brought me here?”

“Yes”

“Could I assist you maybe?”

“Of course, that would be splendid.”

“Okay, then what does the book look like?”

“It is a big book that’s white and gold. It has a picture of a golden and blue unicorn on the cover.”

“Are the two unicorns supposed to resemble you and Luna?”

“No … well sort of. It was originally a book that was my parents, but they never got to use it.”

“Oh”,

Twilight started to look around the golden library in search of the book. She found many sacred books that contained sacred spells, but no sight of the book Celestia was looking for. Twilight looked at a spell book. The book cover was brown and had a picture of a green power button. The book was called, “Spells of the future”. The book had a lock on it, but the lock was unlocked. Twilight couldn’t bear but to take a peek for at least one spell. She opened the book, but Celestia pulled the book away. “Focus Twilight” she chuckled. Twilight’s face started to blush from embarrassment. They both continued looking for the book.

Twilight flapped her wings higher and higher to look for the book. At her castles library, finding books was easy, but for this library, it was almost impossible to find. Celestia continued to look at book covers and sent them back up. One book was about to hit Twilight, but dodge her. She really wanted this library for her own now. Twilight flew to the top shelves where many books laid. The books up there were dusty and looked as if they hadn’t been used in years. Twilight had a thought that these books were the most important. She looked through the whole entire top shelf until she found a book behind a couple other books. The book was the exact book Celestia was looking for.

“I’ve found it!” Twilight called,

“I knew you would.”

Twilight was going to bring down the book herself, but Celestia was so eager she pulled the book and Twilight down to her. Twilight fell flat on the floor while Celestia flipped pages of the book. “I hate to see this book,” Celestia sighed.

“Why?” Twilight asked while getting up,

“Not many ponies know this but I’ve done some pretty brutal things to other lands to protect Equestria.”

“Like what?”

“Well, you’ll have to find out yourself.”

Celestia handed Twilight the book. Twilight looked at the book for a minute, then picked it up with her magic.

“This book contains all of the diary entries and thoughts of everypony in Equestria, just think of the pony, and all of their life will be written down in this book,” Celestia informed,

“Its mine now? You’re giving it to me? But why?”

“I think I can now trust you to handle this book on your own, I can trust you, can I?” Celestia asked,

“Y-Yes of course”

“Good, hide this book in your castle. Don’t let anypony see this. Do you hear me?”

“Loud and clear”

“Good”

The two princesses walked outside of the secret library and into the dark room. Luna and the guard were waiting for them. “Does Twilight have the book?” Luna asked, Celestia nodded. Luna picked up something in the corner. It was a white saddlebag with Twilights cutie mark on it. “Put the book in here Twilight, it will be safe” Luna commanded. Twilight did as she was told.

“Celestia?” Twilight asked,

“Yes?”

“May I tell my friends about this book?”

“No, you may tell nopony.”

“What about Spike?”

“Not even him”

“Cadence?”

“She knows,” Celestia said, “I used to read her some of the happy things in that book, mainly about her mother that she never met.”

“Since she knows does my brother know?”

“No, she has done good to keep that secret.”

“Mason!” Luna said the guard came up to her,

“Yes my princess?”

“Escort Princess Twilight back to her castle, make sure her and the book get there safely.”

“Shall I return after?”

“No, your new duty shall be to protect Princess Twilight” Celestia interrupted.

A smile came over Mason’s face. Twilight didn’t know why, but he was somehow happy to live in Ponyville. Wouldn’t he be sad to leave his family, Twilight thought? “Now go, you have much reading to do,” Celestia said,

“Wait” Luna yelled. She lifted the big brown book from the room and handed it to Twilight. “This will help you.”

Twilight took the book. The book was much heavier than she expected. “Please, let me assist you,” Mason said. He took the book from Twilight. His magic was light red.

“Remember Twilight, nopony can know” Celestia warned in a firm voice. Twilight took a gulp and nodded. Twilight and Mason both exited the castle together. A chariot waited for them outside of the castle to bring Twilight home. Spike was in the chariot eating a bowl of gems.

“Hi Twilight,” Spike said with a mouthful of rubies. Twilight waved, and then entered the chariot with Mason. “Who’s he?” Spike asked,

“I just realized, I haven’t formally introduced myself,” Mason said, “My name is Mason Stargazer, happy to make your aquatints.”

“It’s good to meet you Mason! My name is Spike, Twilight’s dragon!” Spike cheered.

Twilight looked at her book, what possible secrets could she encounter with this?
