Escape

It was a dark and stormy night, what use to be paradise is now a barren wasteland with blood shed, and rain pouring down like fire. It would be blinding to a normal human. Corpse of fallen comrades lie on ground almost to the point where they were almost nothing but bones.

This was my life now, running, hiding, I had nowhere to go.

The thundering skies showed no mercy to any soul and the sounds of guns firing would echo through ruined cities and I would hear cries of pain from crippled soldiers that were soon silenced. The war for complete control over the planet was at a near end. Between the Rebellion forces who fought for peace a tranquility, while the Crimson army fought for power and Tyranny. In case if you are wondering who I am?, I am Commander Stinger and I am an android and I use to fight for the Crimson army.

War was all I knew until one fateful day changed my view towards the human race.

I would ponder to myself if I made the right decision running away from a war that almost had no way to escape, almost. But the only way I had was to return to an old place where there were others just like me fought for the same cause, my people, my home.

“All I need to do is return to the Crimson fortress and use the teleporter coordinates and head to the Rebellion city in the North quadrant of the galaxy and maybe if I am lucky I can reason with them to let me stay.” It’s what I thought but I first needed supplies and that’s what I went to go do.

So I used my camouflage to sneak inside and avoided any guards that would wander the halls. I was looking for the supply room it took a while but I Finally made it until .

“Where do you think your going old friend.”

I turned around to see it was an old friend of mine Eclipse. She was second in command under me and was a loyal companion but she can be a bit annoying at times.

“Good to see you again Eclipse but I can’t really talk right now and shouldn’t you be training with the others.” I asked as I opened the door but she grabbed hold of my arm before I could enter.

“Yeah I know but I saw you sneak in and I thought what should I do? Go and report that the former commander has gone rogue or Should I get answers from you.” she said with a smirk. She wasn’t going to let me go until I told her everything.

So I took her in the supply room and I told her everything that has happened as I grabbed what I needed.

“Wow that must of been very tough for you to do that.” She said with a sorrowful look.

“I don’t need your pity but yes it was tough and that’s why I need to leave before they find me and execute me.” I said sternly. I didn’t want her to get involved but as usual she was stubborn.

“I guess but you do realise that if you leave, Phantos will find you and there’s nothing I can do.” She said worryingly. So I told her that I was going to a place where I might never return.

“I know that Eclipse, that's why I am heading to the north quadrant where the Rebellion city stronghold is.” I said.

“But that’s suicide not one of us has stepped foot in that city and lived to tell about it.” She said Shockingly.

“I know but I would rather face my crimes there then face them here.” I said.

“I wish you good luck and try not to get killed.” She said as she got up and left the room.

I really did wish she would come along but she was younger then me and I couldn’t let her suffer for something I did. So I continued to pack what I needed and went to my old room to gather a few personal belongings of mine. It was tricky to get to my room since it was on the upper levels. Most of the guards were probably training on the training grounds. As I entered my room I double checked everything that I was going to take.

“Canned corn, canned mash potato, canned rice and beans check… First aid kit check…Three detonators packs check… grenade belt check… weapon charger check. It looks like I have everything I need but first I better charge my weapons just incase.” I thought to myself.

As my weapon was fully charged I reattached it to my arm it disassembled itself and wrapped around my arm, locked and loaded. As soon as I left my room troubled has already stirred. Two guards saw me and made me stop.

“Well, well, well if it isn’t former Commander Stinger.” One of the guards said.

“Put your hands where I can see them. The other guard said.

I did what they told me put my hands in the air they were bigger than me and had more firepower. But they were extremely gullible and easy to trick.

“Ha that was easier than I thought and here you were worried we’d be dead meat.” The first guard said with a chuckle.

“Yeah I guess you were right.” The other guard said as he handcuffed me which kept me from pixelating and reforming. I was amused on how they thought this was going to be easy for them. I decided to stop playing around with them and get out of here now.

“You know we could turn him in personally to Phantos and who knows we might get a reward…..ugh.” Before he could finish talking I kicked him to the ground and swung my arms to smack the other guard right in the face sending him flying to the wall.

“Urgh….You little…..” I decided not to hear another word so I kicked him in the face knocking him out . As I grabbed the key from him the other guard charged at me but I jumped over him while unlocking my handcuffs and took out my gun and blasted him in the back as he crashed into the wall.

“To easy.” I thought with a little chuckle as I rushed off to the control room where the teleporter was and finally escape this damn war.

But as I dashed to the control room I ran into a few other guards and they started firing on sight. I dodged all bullets and started to fire back. I was able to kill a few while running past them while the others ran after me. I decided to set one of the detonators off around the corner set to explode in ten seconds taking the guards with it.

I finally reached the control room and started to set the coordinates to my destination but as I was about to finish setting the coordinates a small plasma beam shot the computer damaging it and the screen froze.I had to use my authorization code to activate voice recognition.

“Damn it!” I shouted out loud.

“This is the end of the line for you traitor.” said a familiar voice. I turned around to see Max the colonel of the unit 29 otherwise known as The Black Ashigaru.

“Not you too Max.” I said with anger.

“Hahahaha you could make this easier on yourself and come with us.” Max said with a wicked laugh.

“Yeah like i’m going to do that.” I said as I fired at him and the other guards.

It felt like it would never end they just kept on coming and I couldn’t hold them off for ever. But I never gave up I kept on fight while turning on the teleporter.

“We can’t let him escape.” One of the guards said.

“It doesn’t matter, he can’t go anywhere without the complete coordinates in the computer.” Max said.

He was almost right I can’t leave without a complete set of coordinates unless I used the override command code 6791 it would send me to a safe destination but with the teleporter damaged it could not only become critical but it could send me somewhere that could kill me. It is risky but it was a risk I had to take.

“Computer activate override command code 6791 immediately!” I shouted.

“Code 6791 has been activated. Activating command code 6791 will not guarantee survival.”

“I don’t care just send me to the safest location immediately away from here.” I said while I kept shooting.

The computer activated the teleporter and the alarm started going off soon all the guards would be here. After I turned around I got shot in the shoulder making a large scratch on my armor.

“I won’t let you get away!” Max said with rage.

I had one last crazy idea. It was risky I had blow up the teleporter. So I set up the last two detonators I had set to explode in one minute, one on the teleporter and the other the computer system that way they couldn’t track where I was going. I didn’t want anyone to follow me and wherever I might end up would be better than this living hell. I took three of my grenades pulled the pins and through them while making a dash into the teleporter.

“Crap.” One of the guards said as the grenade blew up in there faces.

But my plan didn’t work as planned when it exploded I felt the explosion right behind me and it hurt. It felt like I was on fire. But then as I floated I thought I saw something images of some future of a battle a battle I wanted no part of. Then I felt strange and not only that the pain only got worse it was unbearable soon I blacked out.

“So….this is...death…..” Was all I could say to myself but in a way I was relieved. But then again I still felt strange. My vision was beginning to clear as well as my helmets sensors.

I saw green pastures of grass and trees. Not only that I saw something amazing……. “ Rain.” Not only that it wasn’t just the rain back on my world it was cool and refreshing usually it would burn like acid due to the smoke in the air, but this was different.

I decided not to lay around anymore and tried to get up, But my body was still in pain. It felt like I was still on fire, I felt was heavy as a rock but yet light as a feather all at the same time. It felt like my hands were gone and my feet were chopped off. I look at my hand only to see that they weren’t hands at all.

“What the hell happened to me.” I thought. I saw a puddle and crawled to it and I took off my helmet surprisingly with ease and Looked at my reflection. I saw that I was an equine with red fur and with a short and spiky mane. I had golden eyes and I thought that for a new body it wasn’t bad.

“Hmm…. I wonder how I became an equine.” I said to myself. Then I realized that the portal was unstable and as I entered into this world my DNA makeup changed and reconstructed my body in order to survive.

“Damn it!” I shouted.

I made another attempt to get up but I took it slow and steady, it felt odd standing on all fours but according to my data banks this is how an equine stands. As I started walking I grabbed my helmet and put it back on while checking my surroundings.

“This world seems peaceful but just in case I should check my supplies and check my scanners for the damage on my suit.” I said to myself. I checked my supplies and surprisingly everything was still intact. But the damage on my suit is forty percent critical and my helmet’s history records isn’t operating well.

“Stupid helmet I really need to get this fix now. What I need is some sort of alternative power to repair my suit and helmet.” I said to myself as I walked into the forest to find a new home.
