Manecraft: The End Adventure!

Twilight awoke slowly, pacing herself after what had just happened; her body was in shock from it all. Opening her eyes she realised she was lying on grass, but how was she outside now? Maybe the book teleported them back to the Everfree Forest, or even Ponyville, but this was not the case.

Rising herself up, rubbing her eyes with a hoof, she took notice of her surroundings, giving out a shocking gasp of unbelief. The ground around her was grass with larger portions of the land raised up, but the reviled raised part and sunken in part shaped the world in the shape of squares. Every part on the ground was a square block built up to form the ground.

Twilight looked around to see that not only was the ground blocks, but the entire landscape was too, from the small collection of trees dotted around where they were, to the formation of a small lake, all was shaped.

“How is this possible?” Twilight questioned. Her friends started to come around after a while, possibly in response to her outburst. They too were shocked at first to see the world they were in; block upon block lay ahead of them. Nopony knew where they were, but one thing was certain, it wasn’t Equestria.

“What in tarnation?!” gave out Applejack in response. The others too were confused as to what they hay had happened to them, where were they?

“Wow, this is weird,” Rainbow Dash admitted, “everything is, well, square.”

“This is too much to believe, this can’t be.” demanded Rarity. The sound of splashing was heard not too far away, she turned to see her friend Pinkie Pie dipping her hoof into the blocky water, a smile and a giggle came to her face.

“This is funny,” Pinkie Pie stated as she continued to touch the water, “It’s like block water, ooooo... if I drink it, do I turn into a block pony?”

“I don’t think we want to find out Pinkie,” explained Applejack as she started to pull her friend away in case of any danger, “Best we just leave things we don’t know about.”

“Why? It’s just water, funny looking blocky water.”

“Applejacks right Pinkie,” agreed Twilight.

“Aw girls, honestly, look,” Pinkie Pie started to tap the water with a hoof again, “See? It’s just water.” Pinkie Pie then jumped into the small take that was a block deep and stood in it, she then stuck her head in whole head in the water and started to look around

“PINKIE!” shouted Twilight is protection for her friend’s health. Pinkie Pie shot her head up back up to the surface after she had enough, but her mane wasn’t wet at all. All of her friends looked at amazement, normally in Pinkie Pie’s case, when her mane got wet; it would flop down to her neck, looking to resemblance how Twilight’s would be.

“Pinkie?” questioned Fluttershy, “Your mane, it’s not wet.” Pinkie looked up to see her mane was as poufy as ever, this confused this also.

“Hu?” she said puzzlingly. Pinkie then repeatedly snuck her head for a few seconds and raised it again, about four times she did this, but no change was made to her mane, it never got wet.

Pinkie Pie was about to do it a fifth time but was stopped by Applejack who joined her in the small pool.

“Pinkie, your gonna get a headache if ya keep doin’ that.” She stated. They both left the pool of block water to rejoin her friends. Twilight leaned down so her face was close to Applejacks forehooves on the ground, inspecting them; they too were not wet for some reason.

“Fascinating,” Twilight said with an inquisitive look on her, “do you feel wet at all?”

“Nope,” Applejack admitted, “Not really.”

A sudden rumbling noise was heard nearby; it caught Twilight’s and Applejack’s attention. They both turned their heads towards Fluttershy who was blushing in embarrassment; the rumbling noise was her stomach.

“Sorry girls,” Fluttershy confessed, “I didn’t have anything to eat before I came out today.”

“Why ever would you go without food darling?” Rarity asked

“Well some of my animals didn’t have their normal amount, so I gave them some of mine.” Fluttershy’s stomach gave another rumble; another embarrassing blush crossed her face.

“Don’t worry Sugercube, I’ll find us something.” resourced Applejack.

“How, there isn’t anything for miles, just blocks.” stated Rainbow Dash. Applejack had to admit that this wasn’t there world anymore, so Rainbow Dash had a point; there wasn’t much say for dirt blocks and lots of open space. But then she caught eye of the few trees nearby, Applejack had an idea and began to walk towards them.”

“Leave it to me, I know what to do.” Applejack said with confidence, striding towards the tree she had in sight. As she approached the block like tree, Applejack placed a hoof on its trunk; it was normal coloured like the ones in her Apple Orchard, so she figured it would has apples in its branches somewhere.

“What are you doing?” asked Rainbow Dash.

“Reckon these trees be apple trees, so I’m gonna buck me us some.” Applejack explained her reasoning’s.

“I don’t see any apples on the tree Applejack.” admitted Fluttershy.

“Well maybe the ones on show are taken already, gotta be some further in.”

Applejack turner around so her rear was facing the tree, she looked behind her to level herself up, squinting her eyes in concentration. All the other ponies gathered around to see what was going to happen, they already knew what would happen if it went right, they just wanted to witness it in a new world. Applejack reared up her hide legs to her stomach then projected them back towards the tree trunk. The idea was that as Applejacks hide legs made contact with the tree, the impact would cause a reaction in the tree to knock louse the Apples and make them fall to the ground, that’s how she did it down on the farm anyway, but hear was different. As Applejack made contact with the block trunk, the part that she hit disappeared on impact, causing Applejack to shoot backwards slightly, falling on her stomach with her hide legs resting where the trunk block had disappeared. All of her friends gasped in disbelief as Applejack was raising herself; she turned to see what went wrong.

“Did I miss or somthin’?” Applejack questioned, but as she turned round to see, she realised what had happened.

The tree was somehow suspended above the ground, nothing holding it in place. The block tree was five wood blocks tall with the top one concealed by leaf looking blocks that continues to grow upwards for three blocks tall, the base of the tree still stood, but the second to last block to the ground was missing, leaving nothing for the rest of the tree to stand on, it should have fallen over, but it didn’t, it just hovered in the air with a one block gap in its trunk.

“Ok, this is just getting silly,” said Applejack with a stern look on her face, waiting for the tree to fall, but it never did, “What in tarnation is goin’ on in this world?”

“I have no idea,” replied Twilight as she approached the floating tree trunk, “But I have the feeling that the rest of this world, wherever we are, is just as crazy.” Rainbow Dash flew close to the tree and inspected it, first waving one of her hoofs through the gap Applejack made, feeling nothing, and then she poked her head through to look up at the tree.

“Is this like a world designed by Discord or something,” Rainbow Dash questioned, seeming the only plausible logic to her. Twilight looked closer as well and thought that Rainbow Dash’s assumption might just be plausible enough to make sense.

“That would explain a few things, that’s for sure.” She said in an agreeing yet questioning tone. Twilight placed a hoof on the lower part of the floating tree trunk, an idea had come to her mind.

“Applejack,” Twilight began, “Try bucking another block of the tree.” Applejack looked at her friend to question her reasoning as to why she thought of that, she did see what happened before hadn’t she.

“Why?” she asked, “It didn’t work the first time, might not work this time neither.”

“I know, but I have a theory: If you broke it once, could you do it several times more?” Twilight waved away her explanation. This seemed to hit home to Applejack, it made sense, plus it would clear up a few more questions. Rainbow Dash and Twilight backed away and Applejack reared up for another go, this time aiming for the block that Twilight was touching. Same as last time, Applejack raised her legs high and hit the tree with force, and same as last time, the tree block disappeared, but Applejack was expecting that to happen so she was able to stabilise herself after it broke this time, landing on all four hooves. Twilight gave a small grunting laugh at the outcome, she was right.

“What does this mean then Twilight?” asked Fluttershy.

“It means that we can’t get any apples from the trees,” answered Pinkie Pie, “Sorry Fluttershy, you’ll just have to starve.” Fluttershy backed back in shock, looking at her stomach that continued to rumble, she began to whimper at the very thought of not being able to eat again.

“Pinkie,” Rarity scolded, “Don’t say such things.” Rarity went to Fluttershy to reassure her friend that she would be fine, to which Fluttershy gave a faint smile of appreciation.

Rainbow Dash saw that there was enough room for her to hover between the two block tall gap, her body was raised up straight as she hovered, she looked up to see the more wooden blocks still hovering, making her angry that she didn’t understand what was going on, she gave out a grunt of rage.

“Fall you stupid tree!” Rainbow Dash demanded, resorting to hitting the closest block to her with a hoof. Same with Applejack, as her hoof made contact, the wood block disappeared out of sight, followed up quickly by another punch from the other hoof at the higher block which in turn disappeared, revealing leaf blocks. Rainbow Dash gave out a louder grunt of frustration that lasted for three seconds, grinding her teeth and placing her hooves over her eyes, but after the three second was up she gave out a sigh of regretting defeated and left, flying slowly away with her eyes closed and her easy down.

“I can’t believe I’m gonna say this, but... I’ve lost to a tree.” She said in a tired toned voice. Twilight observed her friend leave the tree then sit down on the ground in a sulk.

“So what now then?” asked Applejack to Twilight.

“I, hu... I don’t know,” Twilight admitted, “Were stuck in a world made out of blocks with block trees that don’t fall even when you break their stumps, so I have no idea.” Pinkie Pie looked up at the tree for a moment before giving out a confusing exhale of breath.

“Why are the leaves disappearing?” she asked her friends, or anypony still listening, which Twilight and Applejack were.

“That’s what we’re tryin’ to find out Pinkie,” explained Applejack.

“Also Pinkie,” Twilight continues the conversation, “The tree truck was disappearing when we hit it, not the leaves.”

“Ok, so why are the leaves disappearing now?” Pinkie asked the second time, gesturing to the tree. Twilight and Applejack looked to the tree; they soon saw what Pinkie was talking about. The leaf blocks of the tree were quickly disappearing randomly, some from the top, some from the bottom; they disappeared, soon catching the attention of the other ponies that moved closer towards it as more and more leaf blocks vanished. As some of them faded away, they left behind smaller versions of trees, but only a small stem of a tree, a block like sapling, also amongst the sapling appearing from the disappearing leaf block, much to the delight of Fluttershy were block like apples. As the last few leaf blocks disappeared, Twilight couldn’t help but think that yes this world is strange, but fascinating that the nature of the world works in this way, if only she had her quill and parchment with her to take notes. The last leaf blocks disappeared, leaving nothing but the one wood block that was the original base of the tree, and a large collection of saplings and few apples, some of which Fluttershy had already collected and was consuming.

“Wow Fluttershy,” said Rainbow Dash stunned, “You were hungry.” Fluttershy began to nod, her mouth full of apple.

“They taste any good?” asked Applejack. Fluttershy gave a hard swallow before speaking.

“Oh yes, they not so different than the ones on your farm Applejack.” Fluttershy made her observation then continued to eat more apples, but she did remember to give one to Applejack to taste for herself, if anypony knew apples, it was her after all. Applejack took a bite of the apple hoofed over to her, she seemed to like it.

“Not bad.” Applejack said with a mouth full of apple, she didn’t care for demeanour with food as much as Fluttershy did, which to Rarity’s annoyance was unacceptable.

“Applejack, please,” Rarity began to complain, “Have you ever heard of table manners?” Applejack just stared at Rarity with a mouth full of apple, her expression said it all.

Far away in the distance, unbenounced to the ponies, they were being watched from behind a thick trunked tree, a large dark coloured slender figure was taking an interest in them, possible because something like this was not seen in the world before, or maybe for another reason. It stared at them with bright pink eyes, and an aura of purple flake shapes circled it apparently of independent thought, seeming to be a part of the creature though not connected. It twitched its head to the side in confusion; making a series of rasping noises not heard from another creature known, and as quick as a flash it was gone, leaving only faint traces of the purple aura which after a few seconds also disappeared.

Rainbow Dash flew up into the air, looking around she could see far, the landscape was a vast collection of blocks, grass and dirt blocks and even some grey rock looking blocks, but no sign of any form of life for miles, certainly no ponies that was for sure.

“See anything?” cried Applejack from the ground, looking up at her friend.

“Nothing,” Rainbow Dash shouted back, “Nothing but block, blocks and more blocks. The whole place if just filled with them.” Applejack turned her attention away from Rainbow Dash to her friends on the ground who gathered around.

“I guess that means that this must be one big ‘old block world.” Applejack said, making the assumption from what she previously heard.

“Well that would make sense,” agreed Twilight, “Even so, we need to watch where we heading, it could be very easy to lose our way in this place. Not knowing where we are is going to be hard for us to plan ahead.” All of the ponies gathered around gave a nod in agreement and Rainbow Dash flew down to join them, hovering just overhead, and at that Twilight walked a little ahead of the other before turning her head back to face them. “Let’s get moving then, we need to find some kind of shelter until we know more about this place.”

The six ponies began to follow in Twilights hoof marks, forward over the great block planes of grass, and out into the wilderness.

Deep beneath the surface, in a small clearing of dirt and stone blocks as the floor, the walls the same with the dirt and stone being randomly generated into them, the dark slender creature that previously spied upon the ponies stood looking down at another presence, a smaller block creature with bright glowing eyes, brighter than any torch.

“And are you sure this is what you saw?” the smaller presence asked the dark slender creature. In response, the dark slender creature gave out rasping noises, but the smaller of the two creatures was somehow able to understand what was being said to him.

“Very well then Enderman 34,” replied the smaller creature in a calm, but also threatening manner and tone, “Follow them, and make sure that they don’t cause any trouble, whatever they are.” At that, the slender creature, this Enderman as it was referred to, vanished, leaving the other creature to his thoughts.

“Well then,” he began to himself, “What has been set in motion this time I wonder?” the creature gave out a crude maniacal laugh.

Over various sized mounds of dirt block the ponies continued to head forward, although they had no idea where they were going, it was better than staying in the same place surrounded by nothing of any kind. The one useful landmark in the clearing where they first started out was a single tree, which they knocked down, or whatever the equivalent of knocking down was in this world, hitting the block tree wood block by block till there was nothing left.

On their way, Applejack noticed something in the distance, a bulky figure not too far away from where they were.

“Hey look over there.” said Applejack, calling for attention to be focused where she pointed her hoof. They all saw the creature in the distance, it seemed to be walking around slowly and aimlessly, settling in one place for a few seconds before moving to another place to stand. Upon closer look it was not alone; there were three other creatures exactly identical to the first, colored brown with white block like markings with four thick rectangle block legs, and a block sized head with a small pair of horns pocking out the top of each of their heads, its eyes were also in the pattern of blocks for some reason, a two by two square of smaller squares, the top two were light grey on both eyes, where as its left eye had a black square on the bottom left part and a white square in the bottom right, the right eye was reversed.

“Are those, cows?” asked Twilight, confused; she had never seen cows like this before. The creatures gave out random mooing to confirm what they were.

“Looks like it,” replied Applejack with a jolly tone, “Reckon we best ask where we are then.” Applejack started to trot on down a small block hill towards the cows, as she did so one of them looked to her coming, Applejack decided to approach that once since it noticed them first.

“Howdy partner, please ta meet y’all,” Applejack introduced politely, “I’m Applejack, and me and my friends are a littl’ lost. See, we don’t come from around these part, so we don’t know where we are, could you show us where a town is around here?” The cow simply looked at Applejack, no expression on its block face, it made her nervous. The cow simply mooed at her once then turned away to look in the other direction, this came as a surprise to Applejack, being ignored like that.

Rarity decided to step forward and take charge.

“Let me have a try with another one,” she explained, “This calls for a little charm.” Applejack gave a deadpan gaze at her as she trotted over to another cow; arrogance was the word that came to mind. The cow Rarity approached did not turn to face her till she started talking.

“Excuse me my dear, umm... cow. Would you be so kind as to tell us where we are? I would vastly appreciate your assistance in this matter.” Rarity spends no expense in wording her words so they sounded nice and present. Same as before, the cow simply mooed and this time walked away from rarity to go stare at the other ponies on the higher hill. Applejack gave a snicker as rarity was left open mouthed at the mute creature.

“So much for charm, hu Rarity?” said Applejack with no hint of hiding her sarcasm. Rarity raised her head and turned it away with a huff of disgrace.

Twilight stepped down the hill followed by Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie, as did Rainbow Dash who hovered overhead.

“Maybe the animals don’t speak in this world.” Twilight suggested as the cow stared at her closely, mooing right next to her.

“Well how can they say when they want something?” asked Fluttershy, “Also, who takes care of them here?” Fluttershy began to panic at the thought that these cows weren't being looked after. Twilight came to her aid on that to calm her down.

“Don’t worry Fluttershy, this world’s different, they probably don’t need anypony to look after them.”Twilight said trying to ease the situation. The cows continued to graze randomly, lousing interest in the ponies and moving away a few blocks, Twilight decided that it was probably best to so the same and move on, her friends followed close by, wondering what else they would see that was different to Equestria.
