When the Midsummer Moon Cries
Prologue
Load Full StoryPrologue
Are ponies inherently good or inherently evil? Or, alternatively, are we just blank slates, ready to be impressed upon by the world around us?
Whatever the case, I think it's safe to say most ponies are probably at least a little bit good and a little bit evil.
Dearest Twilight,
I read Princess Celestia's letter with great curiousity, as she had already replied to my latest friendship report. It must be a special assignment.
I hope you are doing well. I can hardly believe it's been one whole year since you and your friends reunited me with my long lost little sister Luna. She's doing much better now, growing stronger, and she will soon be prepared to take up her old mantle and begin raising the moon at night (which will be a massive load off my back, I might add, and I'm quite looking forward to it.)
Because Ponyville already hosts the Summer Sun Celebration in June, I think it would be a very fitting location for a brand new type of celebration which we are calling the Midsummer Moon Festival. We'd like to hold it near the middle of August to ceremoniously welcome Luna back to her old duties and celebrate her tremendous change of heart. She may not show it, but she's very excited, as am I.
I trust you and your friends to put on a festival truly befitting a returning Princess. She won't admit it, but she's very sensitive about how other ponies perceive her. Make sure there are no foolish rumors about her still being Nightmare Moon floating around. You know how ponies can be.
You remain my most faithful student, and I know you're up to the task. Following are the details you need to know, concerning procedures and how we hope the festival will run.
Good luck,
Celestia
I think that ponies are mostly good, though I know many would argue they're mostly evil. I think, on average, ponies are maybe 65% good and 35% evil, with big outliers in either direction. What makes ponies who and what they are is anybody's guess.
Life is a precious thing, don't you think?
