Black Stars Shine the Brightest
It had been 20 years since the Cutie Mark Crusaders received their cutie marks and each now lived a happy life in Ponyville. Apple Bloom had a ten year old daughter named Black Star, though she preferred 'Star' for short. She was called this because when she was born, unlike most fillies, with her cutie mark which was quite understandably a black star. Although this prove a little disappointing for her mother, Star still found adventure in her young life besides searching for her cutie mark. Her best friend Honey Comb each shared a shy nature but when together the two could save the world(of which they had never done, but planned to some time during the future).
It was a pity she was a unicorn because she couldn’t buck trees like her mother and she also couldn’t breathe more than fifty centre meters of fire like her father, Spike. However, that did not stop her from being one of the friendliest and most loving fillies in Ponyville, especially towards her crush: Night Warmer.
Fluttershy and Discord had a daughter too: the aforementioned filly named Honey Comb. Just like her father, she had a bat wing, a Pegasus wing, a snaggletooth, a lion paw, an eagle claw and of course he father's chaotic powers. However, she also had her mother's coat, eyes and colour hair. Additionally, she shared her mother's personality but still adored playing tricks on other ponies especially her mate Bolt. Honey has a 15-year-old adopted older sister named Midnight Blossom that her parents had adopted in their worry of not being able to have children. Midnight - or 'Moody Midnight' as Honey called her - doesn’t like being around her younger sister because she’s 'not mature enough’ and 'has too many child germs.'
Rainbow Dash and Soarin had a fast-flying son named Bolt whose dream was to become a Wonderbolt like his parents. He had a very loyal nature, which wasn't just the result of her mum making him pinkie promise to be loyal when he was young. He first flew at the age of three and often zoomed around in the Wonderbolt costume Rarity had made for him. Since he was a growing colt, she had to keep on making new ones but he loved them so much that the white unicorn put a lot of effort into making them. The only thing he adored more than the Wonderbolts was his friends who he stood with to the end (especially Honey, though he rarely got the chance to play pranks on her in return for those he'd received).
Then theirs Warmer.
Night Warmer claimed to be Princess Luna’s son. He was definitely different as he, like Star, was born with a cutie mark. However, his was a black sword against the moon. He was adopted by Rarity and Fancy Pants and was constantly being bullied by his older ‘brother’ Dark Warrior. His brother was definitely dark however he had a weak spot which both the colts shared, Black Star. With her beautiful black mane dotted with glittering white stars and her beautiful, silky white coat and her perfect, sparkling, lush green eyes, it was easy to understand why. The only similar dream they shared was to someday become her coltfriend, and maybe even husband.
As well as this, there’s the Candy twins: Candy la Cane and Cane la Candy, both poofy haired daughters of Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich. Their personalities were identical in every way, except only Cane la Candy had inherited her fathers sincerity, whereas her sister was all about the pranks and never apologised for any of them. She would often end up writing a letter to her sister's 'victims' in hope that they would forgive her. Not that they really wanted to; Candy la Cane was only joking around and making ponies smile in the process. Together, the twins were completely and unstoppably great, great, great times infinity friends.
'I-I can do this. My friends will be there..but oh what if I transform...’ Thought Honey Comb nervously as she waited for the last of the CMC to arrive.
They were all outside Black Star's house, since her's was the closest to school. Suddenly, the unicorn's door swung open, and they all looked at her, standing in the doorway. She took a step forwards, only to trip on her long black mane and fall onto Night Warmer. Their muzzles were pressed up against each other, lips dangerously close to meeting. Warmer had to wait for Star to regain her balance because, if he moved, she would fall face first onto the ground. The blush on their cheeks were visible for a few seconds, so only the sharp eyes of Honey Comb could see them. The two hastily picked up their saddle bags which had come off in the process.
“Sorry every pony I was just in such a rush and well I wasn’t looking where I was going we just can’t be late.” Star apologised, so fast she might as well be the daughter of Pinkie too.
“It’s fine Star, the same thing happened to me. It's our first day of school after all and none of us want to be late.” Honey Comb piped.
“That’s just it,” Star said as they began to walk, “ Aunt Twilight is going to teach us all personally as there was no space at the school for us so uncle Macintosh is going to bring us over in the hay cart to her palace.”
One by one the children hopped up into the aforementioned cart and began to talk.
After a while, Honey whispered so that only Star could hear, "How long is it going to take for you to ask him out?"
Star blushed a deep red, glancing at the unicorn colt she was talking about, "Ummm...I-I just don't want to ruin our friendship," She replied, not unreasonably but Honey made a mental note to press further on the matter later on. They joined in with the others' conversation and they eventually came to the subject of Discord.
"Have you conceived any great ideas of late for pranking?" Bolt asked Honey.
"Not really, but my dad sometimes tells me stuff he did when he was my age." She replied.
"Has he said anything else about his childhood?" Cane la Candy asked.
"Yeah, but why do you wanna know?"
"Because your dad's The Lord of Chaos, silly. Everything about him is totally awesome!" Bolt answered. “Go on Honey, what did he say?” Asked Bolt
“It is just things like Chrysalis this and Chrysalis that Sombra this and Sombra that, really boring. Anyway look we’ve arrived.” She changed the subject.
As they stepped in through the grand hall the where told by a royal guard that Princess Twilight Sparkle was in the library. As wandered through the mighty palace they found a door with the words ‘Library of Wonders’ written across the top.
The door swung open and Twilight invited them in.
“Hello there Bolt, Candy, Cane, Honey, Warmer, Star. Welcome to my school for young fillies and colts. I will give it to you clearly; every pony, whether they be unicorns, Pegasi or Earth Pony, all learn differently. I for one learn through reading, while someone like my friend Rainbow Dash learns through observation. I am going to teach you the way Princess Celestia taught me. Star, Warmer do you know why you have your cutie mark yet?” The Princess asked.
“Um, your majesty I think I speak for both of us when I say we don’t. I hope you don’t mind me asking but does this mean we just visit you when you request for it and when our work is completed?” Star asked.
“Yes you are correct, and just 'Twilight' is fine. Your first assignment is to look up your cutie mark in the castle of the two sisters’ library. There is a book on row eight shelf ten." She turned to Honey Comb. "Now, Honey-" The 'pegasus's' facade faltered as she was startled by her name being said. "Honey, you don't have to wear your magic disguise here. Nopony will stare, I promise. As i was saying, Honey and the rest of you can you write me a short explanation of what you love to do and why you love to doing it. Oh and would you all please come with me; We have something to show you all.” Twilight said before leading them to the spot where all their parents and Applejack stood.
All their parents, that is, except Honey's.
twilight noticed immediately. "Where are Fluttershy and Discord?"
"They were here a moment ago." Applejack said as they all looked around.
Twilight thought for a moment before a pleasures giggle that distinctly belonged to Fluttershy echoed throughout the halls.
Twilight groaned. "Why there are so many broom closets in this castle I will never know." She said, before teleporting to the source of the sound.
All the adults either gagged or moaned, and all the foals turned to Honey.
"What's going on?" Star asked.
Honey blushed. "I-I'm not sure, but...I think...ummm...I think my mom and dad are, ummm...it-it's embarrassing to say."
"They're making out again, aren't they?" Star guessed and Honey confirmed with a nod.
"EWW!" The others simultaneously said, but Honey and Star - being best friends - were so used to it that they didn't react like the others.
At that moment, Twilight returned along with Fluttershy and Discord.
Twilight explained. "Sorry for the delay, everypony. These two just can't sit still for two seconds without going somewhere else to," She coughed, "Occupy themselves." She glared at Discord. "Shall we continue?"
The draconequus stuck his tongue out at her before teleporting everyone present to the castle of the two sisters. They where at a place in the castle they had never been in before not even Twilight. A door in the corner swung open and Princess Luna walked out. Looking, no was that a, she was giggling to herself. it didn't last long however because Discord coughed loudly into his claws and said,
"Luna, If I may ask why would a beautiful young mare like yourself be doing giggling about this old photo." Discord shows everyone the picture of Chrysalis kissing Discord on the cheek and Discord blushing as she rubbed his head. Fluttershy immediately dragged Discord off to have a private word.
"Children I have a surprise for you if you would step this way the rest of you may follow. I hope I haven't got Discord in to much trouble. This is yours" Luna said. She guided them into a beautiful room with 6 double beds and a golden table with a small assortment of Alicorn books and... three annuals of Discord in his earlier life before the war. Around the table their where six smoothly fabricated armchairs with the most gorgeous designs printed on.
"Ohh how pretty and for us to. Thank you Luna but why didn't you give it to Twilight?" Star asked overwhelmed by its beauty.
"it needed a long time to be refurbished after more then a thousand years of not spying. I mean not playing. Trust me it use to be mine." Luna replied politely.
They stayed their for the next three days as It was Midnights birthday and she had asked for a weekend to have to herself well the others settled in. the tried to find what they could in cutie marks but Star could find nothing and not even bright little Honey could think of how hanging around with her friends had anything to do with your cutie mark. So finally they all strolled back to Twilight empty handed and she just told them to relax. She put her hoof on her head and cried.
