The Melody is my MeaningChapter 1
Pain…..lots of pain, it was the thing that was plaguing his mind. Granted pain would be the first thing anyone would feel if they were tossed off a train, but this was pretty excruciating. Chock that up to his piss-poor pain threshold. He grunted as he picked himself up from the ground, looking around the ground for his luggage which was also chucked off the train along with him. The first thing he noticed was his backpack, he grabbed it and quickly unzipped it, looking through it to make sure nothing was lost and everything was intact.
“Thank God” he muttered to himself as he scanned around the area looking for his last piece of luggage. Luckily the guitar case is rather heavy and large, otherwise it would've been lost in the landscape. He stood up, plodding himself over and sitting down. He opens it to find his guitar survived the throw. It was a black electric guitar, nothing special in retrospect but to him, it was given to him by his grandparents. If that was wrecked, he’d feel devastated for letting them down. He feels around the case, feeling something at the side of his guitar, his train ticket.
“…..of course I find the ticket AFTER I get tossed on my ass” he groaned out loud at his luck. Throwing the ticket to the ground in frustration, he got up and proceeded to pack his things and pulled his smart-phone out of his pocket. Checking Google Maps, he searched for the nearest town. A small town was located nearby, it was named Ponyville.
“Ponyville, that name rings a bell” he scratched his head in curiosity, trying to see if he can remember the significance of the name.
“Hmm, hopefully it'll come to mind when I get there”, Ponyville wasn't that far ahead at all. Judging from the train track, he would've passed Ponyville if his trip to Canterlot was a success. That means he can just follow the train tracks and he should find the town.
“Hope they have decent apartments…”
An hour later
He detoured from the train tracks once he was close enough to try and find the entrance to the village. As he walked closer to the entrance, he found a sign, which read in bold letters was Welcome to Ponyville. However the sign wasn't the only thing he noticed. What drew his gaze was the giant crystal castle that was on the outskirts on the other side of the town. Then it clicked, now he remembered why Ponyville was a name he was familiar with.
“This is Princess Twilight’s home” he quietly said to himself, his eyes wide and mouth agape. Shaking his head to rid himself of the shock, he slowly walked into the town, still eyeing the Princess’s castle. As he walked in he started to notice ponies walking around, along with some shopping stands. This must be the town’s marketplace. He looked around the area to see if there were any stands selling beverages. He caught a stand with a sign that had bottles of all kinds on it. He rushed over to stand, he hasn't drunk since last night and he was parched and needing something to drink. Now near the stand, he eyed the mare. She was a pegasus wearing a red uniform along with a cap, she had a yellow coat, blue curly mane and pink eyes.
“What can a get you hun?” she said with a pleasant smile. He smiled back, looking at the back to see if there’s anything he wanted.
He spotted a bottle of Pepsi Max, “I'll take the Pepsi Max please”. The mare walked to the back fridge and pulled out a bottle of the soft drink. She came back over, popping it on the table.
“That'll be 3 bits”, he fiddled around with his backpack, pulling out a small bag filled with bits. He snatched out three of the golden coins and dropped them on the table.
“Enjoy your drink sir, and have a pleasant day” she said with a grin.
“Thanks, and you too” he grinned back with equal force as he picked up the bottle. As he walked away he opened the bottle, that satisfying sound of gas being released from the confines of the bottle making him sigh. He took a swigger of his drink, gulping it down fast. He let out a sigh of satisfaction as he spun the bottle lid back on, putting the bottle in his backpack for later. Due to the distraction, he didn't notice the pony in front of him as they proceeded to collide with each other. The latter falling to the ground.
“OUCH!” he yelled out with his eyes shut, he slowly lifts his eyelids “Ugh sorry ma….” He stopped in his tracks as he took a good look the pony he accidentally bumped into. She was a mare, and a very cute one to boot. She was wearing a short-sleeved purple T-shirt along with a pair blue jeans. She had a light brown coat, and a long dark brown mane. She also had a horn protruding from her head, meaning she was a unicorn. Which means she could throw him back with magic if she’s the grumpy type. Slow panic robbed him of any common sense as he proceeded to use his own magic to cast an anti-telekinesis spell encase he was about to get flung across the marketplace. “I-I’m sorry I-I-I didn’t notice you”, the mare scoffed and got up quickly, having yet to even take a look at the one responsible for her fall. She opened her eyes, revealing them to be a deep brown. She sped over, getting in his face.
“Yeah well watch where you’re going next time you dipshi…….” she suddenly stopped talking, her expression dropping from anger to….bedroom eyes with a smirk. “Heeeeeeeeeey, you’re cuuute” she practically sung out.
His cheeks burned up instantly, “w-w-what”. She giggled, still smirking.
“Even cuter when you blush”, he face just lit up even more. “I-I-I” all he could do with stammer. Sure he had been hit on before by mares and stallions alike, but never on the first meeting…..unless it was the time in Trottingham but we do not speak of that.
“The names Leslers, what’s yours cutie?” she sung, never dropping her smirk and bedroom eyes.
“L-L-Lexical Medley…b-but my friends call me Lex” this is insane he yelled in his head, why did I have to be hit on now, especially by such a pretty mare. Leslers continued to walk closer, until someone yelled out her name in the background.
“LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESLEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRS!!!!” yelled out a figure who was closing in. Leslers, turned around to see who was calling her. The figure was now close enough to tell they were a pony, but he wasn't prepared for what he was about to see. She was an earth pony mare, a VERY curvy one. She was wearing maroon crop top that helped maximise her breasts and cleavage, which were HUGE. She also wore high waisted black shorts which showed off her big beautiful thighs. Her coat was dark grey, and she has a long red mane that passed the bottom of her neck. The mane was long in the front too, which covered her left eye. Her right eye was visible though, which showed off it was a deep yellow colour. The only thing that was going through Lex’s mind right now was the word damn being stretched out to a ridiculous degree. It didn't help his face was redder then a tomato as well. He was not having a good day.
Was the mare was close enough, Leslers walked over to her and hugged her tightly….and then proceeded to snog her passionately.
“Oh Christ help me…..” Leslers separated from the kiss smiling.
“Ruby where did you go? I was looking all over the marketplace for you” she exclaimed with a worried tone.
“I’m so sorry, there was the donut stand and they had everything for 15 percent off! How could I say no to that” she said with a smile on her face, Leslers rolled her eyes.
“Never change babe”, she nuzzles Ruby, the latter responding back with her own nuzzling.
“Ummmm….can I go?” that seemed to snap the both of them out of their affectionate trance. Leslers looked over to him with a smirk,
“Nope”. Ruby glances over to Lex.
“He’s cute”, she says with a smile.
“I know right” Leslers responds.
“Cute mares, the kryptonite of Lexical Medley” he thinks to himself, a look of displeasure written all over his face. Ruby notices the negative expression on Lex’s face, raising an eyebrow.
“Hey Leslers, you didn't hit on this poor guy out of nowhere did you?” Leslers eyes widen and she blushes.
“Um….yeah kinda”. Ruby shakes her head, she walks over to Lex and holds his hand.
“I'm sorry that my marefriend started randomly hitting on you, she’s does that with every cute mare or stallion she meets” she says with an apologetic look on her face.
“Oh, its fine I suppose?” he says with a confused look on his face, not even sure how to feel about the situation anymore. Ruby smiles, she then walks to Leslers, grabs her, and puts her over her shoulder.
“HEY, WHAT ARE YOU DOING? RELEASE ME” Leslers screams as she struggles to get out of her marefriends grasp.
“Nope, we’re gonna have a little talk about hitting on random strangers” Ruby walks away with Leslers as she continues to yell and wiggle.
“LET GO OF MY YOU BIG BREASTED BITCH, DON’T YOU DARE DENY ME OF A CUTE STALLION……” her yells get quieter as they become further away, until the only sound left is the ramblings of the ponies in the marketplace.
“…..well that was an experience” he shrugs and walks off deeper into the town.
30 minutes later
In front of him lays the town’s local pub, he looked around the windows and door for any help wanted ads.
“Please let there be an ad for-YES” he exclaimed, finding help wanted ad. He strolls into the pub, his eyes widen at the inside of the joint. “Wow” for a small town pub, it’s pretty good looking. To his right is the bar, the back filled with drink dispensers and glass cases for all kinds of beverages. The bar was lined with red seats, with a few ponies occupying them. The middle of the bar is mostly covered with movable chairs and tables, probably for dance nights. Then comes the part he always looks forward too, the stage. The stage right at the back of the bar, the stage itself is black with a glossy finish. It also has bright red curtains, the stage is covered in all sorts of wires and instruments. He walks closer to the bar to get a better look at everything.
“This is a damn fine establishment” he says to himself.
“Why thank you”. He turns his head to discover the source of the voice. It came from an earth pony mare behind the bar. She was wearing a typical bartender uniform, she had a light mulberry coat, cerise mane, tail, and eyes.
She extends her hand out to him, “Names Berry Punch, I'm the bartender and owner of the Ponyville Pub”. He returns the gesture by shaking her hand.
“Lexical Medley, but my friends call me Lex” he smiles at Berry.
“So judging by the ad outside, you’re hiring?” he asks inquisitively. Berry looks at him while wiping a glass.
“Yes we are, are you interested?” she replies with a raised eyebrow.
“Mhmm, I'm here to be part the performer staff and maybe a waiter” Berry grins.
“That would be great, the pub needs more performers. What do you play and what can you do?” He smirks, pulling up his guitar case.
“I do guitar, I sing, and I can do stage magic”.
“You’re hitting all the right buttons. How proficient is your stage magic?” she asks with a quizzical look in her face.
“Well it’s my special talent, so I’d hope its proficient enough” he giggles.
Berry rubs her chin, “I got a test for you, I want you to get on stage on perform, singing AND using the guitar. If you do well, you’re hired”. He grins from ear to ear.
“DEAL” he shakes Berry’s hand. Berry walks out of the bar and over to the stage.
“OI SWEETIE, BUTTON. GET YOUR FLANKS OUT HERE. YOU HAVE A SHOW, NOW!!” Two ponies waddle out slowly from behind stage. One of them is an earth pony stallion, he’s wearing a light blue shirt with a pair of grey shorts. He has a charcoal brown coat with a dark orange mane and tail with a light orange streak. The other was a unicorn mare, she’s wearing a light blue dress with floral patterns on it. Her coat was a very light grey, and her mane and tail are pink with purple streaks.
Berry turns to him smiling, “The stallion is Button Mash and the mare is Sweetie Belle, they’re the only members of the performance staff. The best I get out of them is a drum and keyboard solo. Hopefully you can change that” she says with a smile. Sweetie and Button look at each other deadpanned, Berry’s comment striking a chord with them most likely. “Guys, this is Lexical Medley. He’ll be performing for us today, and you’re gonna help him” she looks at Button and Sweetie with a smile.
“Um…hi” Button said meekly, he’s rather cute.
“Hi” Sweetie said with a smile.
Lex nods, “Hope we do well together” he says smiling.
“Anything in particular you wanna perform Lex?” asked Berry.
“Yeah I got a song in mind” he puts down his backpack and searches through it, the result is a file full of papers. He gets up on stage, flipping through pages and gives Sweetie and Button the music sheets. Button looks at his with curiosity while Sweetie just smiles at him.
“Awesome, some actual rock” he smiles at Sweetie’s response.
“Take your places guys, let’s get started. I've been itching to perform for too long” he said, earning a nod from the both of them. Since Button and Sweetie their way around the stage, he was left waiting until everything was set up. He pulled his guitar out of the case and plugged it into the guitar amp. Button and Sweetie get into their position.
“Everything is ready Mr. Medley, just let everypony know” Sweetie said with smile.
“Just call me Lex Sweetie, no need for formalities”. He propped up the microphone and looked at the crowd. To his surprise, he found both Leslers and Ruby sitting at the bar drinking. “Oh God they’re gonna notice me, ugh” he thought to himself. He’ll have to deal with them after the song. He started to speak into the mic. “May I have everyone’s attention” nearly everyone in the bar including Leslers and Ruby looked over to the stage. “My name is Lexical Medley, and today with the help of Button Mash and Sweetie Belle, I’ll be performing for you guys. I certainly hope you all like it. Okay guys, HIT IT”.
The song ended with applause from everyone in the bar, with the exception of Leslers who is just whistling loudly. “Thank you everyone, glad you all loved it” he said with a huge smile. He looks over to Sweetie and Button who are smiling themselves, must have been a while since a performance got that much out of anyone. Berry runs to the stage, “Guys that was awesome, and Lex” he looks over the mulberry earth pony. “You’re hired”.
