Deadly Beauty

„Do you really want to know every detail … ?" I sighed , when Sunshine asked me for my blindness … or more like the story behind it.

„If it's not a p-problem, yes, I would like to hear about it." She looked like she was very curious about that. But can I blame anypony ? I'm a blind filly. This doesn't happen often. Not to mention I have my 'spell'… that lets me temporarily look. I completely understand.

I smiled at her and started" It was this day … 3- almost 4 years ago now … When I was 5 years old. "
"Spring.Everfree forest.I was on a walk with Trinket Lilly, my childhood friend. As always , we were playing there and occasionally gathering flowers. But this time was different… We played with a ball there and it landed in some kind of bush… Of course, I went to check out on the ball. I didn't want to lose it again !" I smiled when I remembered how many times we lost that ball.

"Again ? Seems like you were playing a lot with it." said Sunshine. It looked to me that she actually followed all of what I said… not all ponies are good listeners. I hope more ponies are like her.

"Yes, it was when I still had my healthy eyes. But continuing my story … " I cannot say that I was very happy about this story … I repeated it too many times.
" I made my way through bushes and saw the ball. I quickly ran towards it , not noticing that it's on the edge of a big hole. Of course – I fell inside … All the way down, I hit the bottom of the hole. When I looked up… I panicked at first. It was too high for me to come back on my own ! It was so black there … I remember seeing … nothing."

"It sounds … very depressing you know … ? " I didn't see her face but I could imagine it … she wasn't very enthusiastic on how it will work out.
I continued on my story" I know. I was feeling depressed back then. I heard Trinket Lilly looking for me but I was too scared to shout back … I desperately tried to find my way out . But then I remembered … the ball? Where was it ? I looked around… There it is ! It's in a field of … red flowers?"

"Red flowers ? I-in a hole ?" I heard the confusion in Sunshine voice. Not everyone see flowers in dark hole without source of light …

"Yep.Red flowers. They had shape of daisies but were red… and they were blooming !I slowly walked to them … I even smelled them ! They were so beautiful … so colorfull ! Such nice smell they had ! I quickly took the ball but …" I stopped … I have no clue why. Maybe it's because … this was the cause of everything ? The seed of chaos ? The reason of this nightmare?!

"… b-but ?" - asked Sunshine. I felt like an elder pony, telling the story of his/her younger days.

"…but two of those flowers seeds got into my eyes. I quickly rubbed my face, then looked at the ball. It started to lose shape … and colors. What I saw was shadow … then darkness. "

Sunshine terribly frowned, I could feel that. "Oh… I'm very sorry … You met with kind of… a terrible fate. If I was just there…" I was actually very happy she said so. I had the idea of how ponies look at me.

I sighed and continued "I didn't know what happened. I was in darkness , but this time it was different. I was … alone. Isolated. I gave a very loud shout … crying and begging for help. And here comes the second part of this situation. When I was in this hole, sitting and waiting for help – Trinket Lilly , worried that she couldn't find me, she went for my parents, Sheena and Kurado."

"Good that you have such friends… that care for you. " I don't know if it was me or Sun sounded very … relieved. I ignored this and continued.

"It took them almost two hours… to find me. Kurado floated me back from the holeand he put me on his back. The whole route from this hole to town – I was crying … Sheena and Lilly were crying too. Kurado stayed calm and they quickly ran to our home and treated me. I finally controlled myself and went to rejuvenating sleep … "
"But how did you learn that spell ?Insight ?"She sounded very curious.

"That is yet to come ! When I woke up … I did not see one pony but I remember I heard my parents AND Lilly. That was the first time… I realized that … I was blind. They told me that my pure navy eyes went … grey and lifeless. Worst was that I couldn't see for myself … for obvious reasons. That was worst time ever. My brain died, I couldn't think right, my personality was twisted. " Sunshine was silent… I didn't know how she looked but once again – I could've imagine that …

I smiled softly and continued" Year passed since I was blind. This whole time, I was in home, while Kurado and Sheena were desperately looking for a medicine, a cure for my eyes. Nothing helped though. And me – I was doing nothing. Not reading … not playing my favorite violin … At least that was what I thought !"

"What ?!" Sunshine was confused.

"I decided that I don't want to live such life ! I trained my magic … kept inventing spells that were unstable or just worthless… but this one day… I opened my eyes again. I saw again. That was the Insight spell." I said that with tiny bit of victory voice … Well – not tiny bit but I was very proud of myself ! "I quickly remembered how to perform it. The first thing I done was running down the stairs and hugging my long unseen parents and Lilly. Everyone were so overjoyed … ! I think that was … the happiest day of my life. "

"That's very good ! You overpowered this curse and you stood brave! " Sunshine was excited about the story ! This is the first time I saw such reaction… but I think I just never said this story with such minor details.

"That's not the end ! When I went to a mirror to see my …eyes … I spotted that I had a cutie mark ! That was a very big surprise for me ! 3 black dots on my flank … they represent mark of the blind. It was very fortunate for me find a solution for my life and I finally earned my cutie mark !" I patted my flank, with a big grin.

"I'm happy for you."- Sunshine was very pleased! I was happy too !

"The spell is still not complete though. After all that time , I can cast it only for 15-20 minutes. Then – I need to go back to my dark world. But this time – I'm never alone. I have my friends that care for me and vice versa~! I care for them as much as they do about me !My true success … is having them… " I finished my story.

For the first time … I felt that I was the one successful . Why I never noticed that ? That my true treasure was everypony around me ? Sheena ,Kurado and Lilly. These three… saved my life back then, but I never noticed how important was their role ! I need to properly thank them … Anypony that ever stood up to help me. I would be very unfair if … I ever said no to them.

I slowly stood, went towards Sunshine and grabbed her , tightly hugging her." I thank you for listening to me … this made me understand … what I done wrong. " Tears appeared on my cheek but … when ?Why ? What for ? I never understood… But I knew that it was a very important lesson …
