"Hello?" Octavia's voice was heard

"Tavi! Hey" Vinyl's voice responded on the other line

"Oh, Vinyl. I'm so glad you called"

"We're still going to the Battle of the Bands right?"

"That's what I wanted to talk to you about. Could it be just us tonight?"

"Oh, you don't want to be with our friends"

"No, not this time"

"Okay, Octavia, anything for you.."

"Thank you, I'll see you tonight."

"Bye"

Both mares hung up the phone and got ready for the concert, Octavia wore her most favorite simple dress. This was her first Battle of the Bands and she didn't want to look too fancy because it was mostly Vinyl's type of music, but she loved her best mare friend. Vinyl's outfit consisted of a tie that lite up in different colors, her headphones, and her famous DJ PON-3 glasses. The white mare looked at herself in the mirror and she lite up her tie and started to exit the door. Octavia waited outside her home until she saw Vinyl and the blue maned mare waved and ran over, the gray mare looked at Vinyl's outfit and bent her ears back.

"Is something wrong?" Vinyl asked

"Did I over dress?" Octavia said looking at herself

Vinyl snickered then shook her head, she then showed Octavia a bow that changed colors to the entire rainbow. Octavia looked at it and leaned her head down so Vinyl could put it in her hair. Octavia smiled at her friend and they both started to make their way to the Ponyville park where the music got louder and louder. Octavia stayed close to Vinyl so she wouldn't get lost in the huge crowd of ponies that came from all over Equestria.

"I never knew there were this many music ponies" Octavia whispered

"A lot bigger than our college," Vinyl snickered

The mares got on top of hill and watched the concert play in the distance, as the Dub step started Vinyl started to head bang with a huge smile on her face. Vinyl then stopped as saw her friend lightly head banging, she grinned and started to head bang at the same pace as Octavia. Octavia looked over then blushed and giggled her eyes then widen and her ears perked, seeing her favorite cello artist pony. He started to play a soft slow song as an orchestra behind him began to play softly, Vinyl got up which got Octavia's attention, the white mare held out her hoof. The gray mare knew exactly what her friend wanted and she got up and they both touched chests and their necks laid close together, as they both started to dance slowly. Octavia relaxed her head on her friends shoulder as the music played in the background, Vinyl then stood on hind legs picking Octavia on hers as they both danced. Vinyl was of course leading and Octavia followed Vinyl's moves amazed on how her DJ mare friend knew how to dance like this.  The wind started to pick up speed and blew against Octavia pushing her into her friend, as the wind picked up Octavia's bow suddenly blew out of her hair. The gray mare let go of Vinyl and ran to catch it, but, the mare wasn't looking where she was stepping, to Vinyl's point of view it was all too quick for her brain to comprehend.

Octavia never did catch the bow and she fell off the hill side into the hard ground below, Vinyl tried everything to get her friend to open her eyes. Even when help was there Vinyl didn't let go of her friend's body and refused to, so they took both the hospital where they put Octavia in a bed and hooked up a bunch of tubes into her. Vinyl stayed beside Octavia side for days, not wanting to leave Octavia's side, no matter what anypony told her.

After a entire week Octavia finally opened her eyes, she didn't know where she was then turned her head to see Vinyl sleeping in a chair. Her mane was a mess and she had bags under her eyes, Octavia leaned up lightly then whimpered and held her side, she looked down to see bandages wrapped around her waist.

"Tavi?" Vinyl lightly said as her heavy eyes opened to see the mare friend, leaning up smiling "Octavia!" Vinyl jumped up and hugged Octavia with tears falling down her face.

"Vinyl, what happened to me?" Octavia asked rubbing her friend's back

"You tried to catch your bow," Vinyl whimpered "I wasn't able to catch you time and you-" she then started to choke up on her tears and nuzzled in the gray mares neck.

"I'm alright, Vinyl" Octavia responded hugging the other mare trying to reassure her "Just a little banged up."

Vinyl nodded and let go of her friend, her eyes they were so puffy and she made a weak smile

"Why don't you go home and rest?" Octavia offered "If something happens I'll make sure they call you, okay?"

Vinyl didn't want to leave but Octavia was so determined to sending her friend home, that the mare didn't argue but said her "goodbyes" and left.

Octavia then looked at the side table and saw her bow she smiled at it and asked one of the nurses to put it in her hair, the gray mare then laid her head back on the pillow but noticed her cello across the room and some music sheets on the ground. Octavia got up and limped over to the cello and saw a blank music sheet, at the top where the title was, there was a writing.

"Pony of Mine" Octavia read aloud the mare didn't think anything of it and thought she never finished a song but the mare was in too much critical condition to finish it and laid back in bed.
