Cheese Sandwich sighed as he walked along the dirt path, headed into an unknown destination. He couldn’t believe his parents! Even though they always seemed grumpy around him, they said they still loved him. When he mentioned about running away, they didn’t even bother to keep him there, they just ignored him like he wasn’t even there! During his travels he spent nearly two hours wondering what happened, what did he do to make his parents not like him, and where was he going now? Or better, what will he do when he gets there?

Cheese Sandwich kicked a rock, his head low and eyes sorrowful. All that could be heard was his hooves against the dirt and what little bits he had in the little red and white bag on his aching back, her never felt so lost, he didn’t even bother to look at all the flowers around him, they used to bring him so much joy! Suddenly his ears perked up, they swiveled around trying to locate the soft sounds of music and wild cheers.

He lifted his head, looking around wildly trying to find the source, only to trip a second later and tumble down a small hill. After what seemed like a long time to him, he finally reached the bottom and rolled into a complete stop into a pile of… Something. He dizzily stood up and spit whatever was in his mouth out, wow that tasted horrible.

Realizing the sounds were much louder than before, he looked around to see many ponies dancing, playing, and having so much fun! It was both exciting and terrifying at the same time! Almost immediately something was knocked off his head, he turned and was greeted by a lavender mare with a dark purple mane, she quickly replaced the unknown -to him- item with another. He looked up at the hat she just dropped on him and couldn’t help but smile when he saw it, he must have looked ridiculous!

He felt the presents of another pony behind him and turned around, a sweet little filly about his age was holding a cheese sandwich, seeing as she was offering it to him he kindly took it before being lifted up by two other mares. Before he could even think about protesting, they threw him into the air. Time seemed to stop as Cheese Sandwich went flying, he smiled the brightest he had ever before, he had never been this happy before!

Time sped back up to regular speed as he landed back into the hooves of the ponies who tossed him, and once he did, he easily slid out of the pairs of hooves. Once he was on the ground, he looked up before getting hit in the face with a stray chicken. It dropped to the ground as he looked down at it. It was a simple silly little party item.

I want to throw a party...’ he thought. ‘I want to make everypony smile, it just seems so natural.’ He picked up the goofy looking chicken and threw it on his back. ‘And I’ll start by adopting you!’ Seeing as he didn’t want a good sweet little gift to go to waste, he tore open the cheese sandwich and gobbled it up. After a bit of looking around, a ball was thrown and it hit him in the head, pushing the hat further down, covering his eyes. While the chicken on his back had fallen to the floor when he was knocked off his hooves.

He stood up and slowly pushed the hat back up to see a gathering of ponies around a small pink filly, her coat a lighter shade of pink than her mane, her mane looked like it hadn’t been brushed in forever, as if she had just gotten out of the shower and the wind made it go crazy! She was standing on her right hind hoof, on a ball, balancing while juggling three of those crazy birds that he had wanted to keep.

He heard random whispers in the crowd, people shouting things either to each other or to the filly with all the attention. “Wow Pinkie! This is the best party I’ve ever had!” Somepony shouted. “No doubt about that! Will you be staying here?” Another pony agreed.

This so called Pinkie just smile and shouted: “Yes indeedie doodle! And I’m going to throw parties like this whenever needed. Even if it means just to get you to smile!” She ended that sentence by bouncing on the ball and landing on the ground, still juggling the rubber chickens. One by one she threw them somewhere random into the crowd who cheered for their new party planner.

The party lasted for about an hour. Games, contests, and snacks the filly had really planned it all. Once it was over everypony was getting ready to head home, well, almost everypony.

“H-hey! You two!” Cheese sandwich all but skipped frantically over to the two fillies talking on the side of the road. “Hi!! Want to play some hopscotch?!” He frantically asked, begging in his mind they would say yes. This was the best day of Cheese’s life, he didn’t want it to end!

The fillies looked the same so he easily guessed they were twins. The one with the spiky blue mane with white highlighted tips answered first. “Sure, kid.” She grew a devious smile. “Wanna make it a competition to make things more interesting?”

All excitement flooded from Cheese Sandwich all the sudden. No he couldn’t do this, what was he thinking? He could trip up, fall, they’ll all laugh at him! “W-well… I dunno, how do you even make a competition out of H-hopscotch?” He stuttered, back away slightly, but the twins didn’t notice as the one with long teal hair with a bow stepped it.

“You know we can’t Cloud Chaser!” She interrupted. “We told mom we would be headed straight home after the party, that’s the whole reason she even let up go, remember?”

“She won’t know.” Cloud Chaser dismissed easily. “We’ll just tell her that the party went on longer than we thought.”

Alarms immediately went off in the young colts head. Disobeying her mother and tricking her? That didn’t seem okay at all! What made him more uncomfortable about all this was that she would be tricking and lying to her mom because of him! She was probably going to do the right thing before he came a long and offered to play. Before Cheese could call it off the bow wearing filly cut in again.
“She will know!” She insisted, “If you go, I’ll tell mom that you didn’t listen to her and that I tried to stop you!” It was obvious the fight was over now and it was quite clear who the winner was when Cloud Chaser’s from one of confidence, to one of shock and disapproval.

“Fine.” She grunted at her sister before turning back to the colt, her hoof moving around the dirt as she refused eye contact. “Sorry kid, I can’t. My sister is little snitch,” Glaring at the ‘snitch’ in question and in reply the filly stuck her tongue out at the spikey manned pony before smiling pleasantly like nothing bad had just happened.

“Let’s go sis, don’t want to keep mom waiting more than we already have!” She said in a sing song voice before starting to trot off in the opposite direction. Before Cloud could say anything else there was another call. “C’mon Cloud Chaser!”

The filly groaned. “I’m coming Flitter! Don’t get your wings all tangled.” She turned to run off but stopped and turned back to Cheese. “Catch ya later.” And she was off, galloping over the hill before disappearing on the other side, no doubt trying to catch up to her sister.

Cheese Sandwich sat down and hung his head sadly. He sighed and almost immediately after the last of his breath was expelled and pink face was suddenly up in his, making him gasp the air back in sharply and jumping away from the sudden appearance. Before Cheese could even think of what to do next the pony started singing.

“♪ Hello, hello, hello, a fine hello to you! ♪” She sang as she did little flips and twirls and danced around Cheese making his head turn every which way. “♪Hello, hello, hello, I say how are you? Hello, hello, hello, I say hip, hip, hooray! Hello, hello, hello, I welcome you today!” The song ended as she blew a party toy about 5 inches from his face. Everything went still, nothing moved or made a sound for a few moments, for Cheese Sandwich was too shocked at what had just happened and the pink pony was waiting from a reaction.

He was shy, no mistake there. The only reason he ran up to those filly’s was because he was caught up in the excitement of the party and was basically blind to what he was really doing. Once he did realize what he was doing, it was like fog clearing his vision, and it took his confidence with it! Now there was a random filly in his face and all he could do was stare. After a little more of this, the silence began to feel extremely uncomfortable. Cheese opened his mouth to say something but was immediately cut off.

“I know, it needs some work.” The filly dismissed after spitting out the horn. “Hi! I’m Pinkie Pie, my Pinkie sense went off and guess what it meant! She didn’t wait for him to respond. “Blurry eyes, droopy ears, and a twitchy lip! That means somepony is sadiewaddie and Pinkie Pie needs to cheer them up!”

Before she could start up again, she was stopped by a raised hoof. “Wait, how can you see when your eyes are blurry?” Cheese Sandwich questioned, tilting his head to the side and his left ear down, despite his pony like appearance anypony who might come by and see him, could mistake him for a lost puppy.

Pinkie giggled a bit before ending with a cute snort. “Oh silly,” she lightly punched him on the shoulder. “My Pinkie sense can also tell me if I’m going to run into something, that sense is an itchy scalp!” She said happily. “So, I’m here, how can I turn that frown, upside down?!” She ended by turning her head completely upside down, startling the colt to back off a little.

Oh… Uhm… I dunno.” The more she talked to him, the shyer he got!

She gasped rather loudly making him jump in fright. “I know!” She paused. “A PARTY!” She jumped up and threw streamers out of her hooves, ones he was sure she didn’t have just a minute ago. She put a hoof up to her chin. “Its a little last minute but I’m sure my friends would love to come!” Before Cheese Sandwich could even think about protesting, the filly was already gone.

“What just happened?”

~♥~

Cheese walked along the road of Ponyville, occupying his back was the little sack from home and his newly found friend. He took in the sight of the town he was in as he walked on the dirt street. The cute little houses, the friendly ponies selling little goodie at their stalls, the small amount of ponies on the sides. This was much better than the evil city of Manehattan. As he took a tour of the town he wondered how many other places are as lovely as this. A pink blur zoomed past him for the third time since said pink blur announced she would throw him a party. The pink blur turned into a filly each time it stopped by a stand, only to zoom off again after getting what was needed.

Cheese had to admit, she had talent. That’s the kind of talent he wanted, for each time she left, the pony managing the stall was either smiling or laughing heartily. He sighed as his ears drooped. How was he going to make other ponies happy if he couldn’t even make himself happy? He kept his head low, eyes to the ground as he walked. All he was given for a warning was a rush of wind before a hoof made contact with his chin and his head was lifted softly.

She was so close, all he could see was her ocean blue eyes, startled, he jumped back. “W-whoa!”

She ignored him and sighed before tsking. “Why does the author have to make you so sad all the time?”

“What?”

“What?”

Pinkie’s head suddenly snapped angrily to the sky. “I know what you’re trying to do!” She snorted, narrowing her eyes.

“It’s not for me, I swear! It’s for the Cheesepie fans!”

“Uh… Pinkie?” She only glanced at the colt before looking back at the clear blue sky.

“Are you trying to interrupt me?!” She bellowed, scaring the colt next to her. She rolled her eyes.

“GAH! This is my story! Why can’t I control you?!”

“Because I ain’t nopony’s pony!”

“Please, just do what I write? You’re… You’re kind of freaking me out.”

“...”

“Please?”

“Fine, if it’ll make you happy.” Pinkie snorted before turning back to the confused and on the edge of panic colt.

“Pinkie?” Questioned the colt beside her, “Who are you talking to?” There was both concern and fear evident in his voice as his ears pinned against his head and he took a slight step back in caution.
Pinkie sighed and facehoofed before apologizing. “It was nopony.” She promised. Cheese took another step back in alarm when her way too bubbly mood surfaced back up and in a snap she was all over him. She grabbed his shoulders. “I’m just so excited!” He no longer felt pressure there but he could feel her presents right to his left… “Because this part is going to be…”
She was no longer crouching down on the spot she used to be on the floor. In fact, she was nowhere in sight, Cheese couldn’t even feel her presents. Had she lef- “EPIC!” The pink pony shouted loudly above him, causing the colt to let out a startled scream before dropping to the ground and covering his head for protection. Her voice sounded like it was swaying while she extended the last letter of the word.
Noticing this, Cheese Sandwich, once he realized that the ambush was not dangerous, looked up to see Pinkie Pie smiling a smile way too big for her face, a rope was tied to her waist as she slowly and lazily swung back and forth on the rope that was seemingly tied to a rooftop above them. Where did she get the rope? This is the stuff he wanted to learn, make ponies smile, cause them to smile and have fun while he could do the same.
Instead of jumping back in surprise or cowering under her unsteady nature, he smile and stepped back to get a better look at her in the front. He put a hoof on her shoulder and smiled. “I’m sure it will be.” Turns out, Pinkie really wasn’t all that much for noticing touching moments, after that was said, she slipped out of the rope like a snake before swinging off the rope and onto the ground.
“Thanks! Oh! I don’t believe I got your name!”
“Cheese Sandwich,” he answered before thinking of a question. “Do…do you mind telling me what you’ve gotten done or anything- N-not that I’m impatient it’s just that… Uhm…”
Pinkie saw this uneasiness and cut him off. “Sure!” She pulled out a saddle back out of seemingly nowhere and peeked inside. Well, I already have the paint, banner, Streamers, sent out the invitations, and got the balloons. I just need to go pick up the cake I ordered from the bakery, such a nice couple lives there!
Cheese was undoubtedly confused by this. “You gathered all that in the time we spent apart?” He asked, amazed when she nodded as if she did this every Friday. “B-but that only three minutes... how do you do it so fast?” She just shook her head and sighed as if she had been telling a foal the right answer, but he kept getting it wrong.
“You don’t waste time when planning parties, this is some serious business so you gotta put your hear in it or it won’t be a good party!” She frowned and narrowed her eyes. “And trust me when I say: I’m determined to turn that frown upside down!” She stomped a hoof to prove her point. “Now I’m going to get that cake~!” She sang happily as she began to skip down the road.

Cheese went after her. “Wait, Pinkie!” He called; she stopped to look at him. “Could I come with?” She eagerly nodded and waited for him to fully catch up before skipping off again, leaving him in the dust with surprising speed.

The bell rang as it was hit by the pink door opening in the bakery, the Cake couple looked up from what they were doing to see two kids walking into the shop, and one was a colt and the other a filly. They haven’t seen the colt around before, but they knew the filly as the one who threw the biggest party Ponyville had ever had!
“Why, hello Pinkie!” Greeted a blue mare with a pink mane that looked like frosting. “You here for that cake?” She asked. The orange pony with a lighter shade of orange for his mane, took the hint when his wife looked at him. He nodded and disappeared into the kitchen.
“Sure am, Mrs. Cake! You got it ready for me?” As Pinkie said that, the stallion reappeared from out of the kitchen, carrying a two layer cake on his back. The flavor of the cake was unknown to Cheese as the blue frosting was covering its identity.
“Of course!” She replied as she took it off the stallions back and onto Pinkie’s. She shuffled under the weight until it felt like it wasn’t going to drop.
Pinkie dug into her saddle bag. “Thanks, Mr. and Mrs. Cake!” Pinkie called as she threw the bits into the air and left with Cheese Sandwich close behind. “They’re really nice huh?” She commented. “I’ve only seen them around like…” She took a moment to recall. “Three time but they always have a smile and always happy to see me!”
“Yeah, they sure seem great!” He agreed. “Say, what flavor is that?” Cheese pointed to the cake on her back.
“Vanilla!” She shouted, rather loudly too. “It’s a vanilla cake with strawberry frosting!” She smiled.
“Sounds delicious!” Cheese commented. “So when’s the party?” He questioned just as they started climbing a small hill. Pinkie was careful to make sure the cake wouldn’t fall off her back due to the gravity weighing upon them as they climbed.
“Now!” She replied, much to Cheese’s surprise. As they reached the top, Cheese Sandwich saw what she was talking about. At the bottom was a flat field with just a hint of flowers on the sides or in the middle, it was something like the place they had the first party. That wasn’t the only thing to see though.
There were five ponies at the bottom. One was an orange filly with a blonde mane tied in a small pony tail; she wore a Stetson almost a little too big for her. Talking to her was a scrawny stallion; he had a red coat and an orange mane. Off to the right was another group of kids, one had a tan coat with a pink and blue mane with big blue glasses to match. Cheese thought he had seen her at the previous party, she looked awful familiar.
Chatting with her was a minty green unicorn with the same color mane; minty green with a white stripe. Last but not least off to the side talking to nopony except a bunny was a yellow filly. She was crouching down in the flowers, talking to a small brown bunny. She looked much older than all the fillies and colts here right now but he wasn’t one to judge. It seemed like there had been more invitations given out because another colt came upon the scene. He had a light blue coat and a darker shade of blue for his mane, he was a Pegasus. After looking around at the other ponies here, he eventually decided to join the orange filly and red colt in their game of tag.
“Well?” A voice interrupted off to his right. He shook his head and looked over towards the sound but there wasn’t anything there. “Aren’t you gonna join?” It called, this time it was a few feet ahead of him. He turned his head again and saw Pinkie Pie, ushering him to follow. He complied and they descended down the hill. They walked over to a white clothed table with small chairs. She carefully set the cake onto the surface and pulled off her saddle bag and put it into a chair.
“Howdy Pinkie.” Called an accented voice. They turned to see the orange filly and the light blue colt. The colt gave a small wave and the filly tipped her hat.
“Hi Applejack!” She quickly gestured to the colt. “Who’s this?”
“This is Soarin!” Applejack explained. “We meet back ‘n Manehattan an’ became friends, he’s visitin’ for the weekend. Ah invited ‘im t’ th’ party, hope ya’ll don’ mind.” She added the last part nervously.
“Of course I don’t mind!” Pinkie burst out in excitement, making the others take a surprised step back. “The more the merrier!” She cheered. Just as Cheese expected, it brought a bright smile to both their faces.
“Thank ya kindly Pinkie!” Applejack thanked.
“Yeah, thanks!” Soarin added.
“No problem, you two have fun!” She turned around but stiffened before turning back around. “I almost forgot, silly me!” She giggled. “Applejack, Soarin, this is Cheese Sandwich!” She said gesturing to the brown manned colt. Who waved shyly in return.
“Howdy.”
“Nice to meet you.” Was their simple replies. Pinkie Pie nodded in satisfaction and continued to turn around and take the cake out of the box.
“Thanks for the Party Pinkie!” Cheese thanked. Nopony had ever thrown a party for him before, especially for just when he needed to smile.
“Don’t thank me yet, this party hasn’t even started!” She said while tying groups of multi colored balloons to random things. After she tied the last bundle, she moved back to her saddle bag. “Can you help me with the banner?” She asked as she pulled out a rolled up piece of long paper.
“Sure!” Cheese Sandwich replied happily. The courage he had gotten from the last party and already started to return. Pinkie Pie handed him and can of open paint and a paint brush, they opened the banner and dipped their brushes into the creamy pink paint. “What do we put on it?”
“I’ll do the writing and you put whatever you think beings a smile!” And with that, she got to work. Cheese only watched as she wrote the letters ‘Sm’, once he saw where her letters would be going, he started to draw little simple happy things.
On the corner he drew a sun with a smile and sunglasses, he also drew random squiggly lines just to get a little design in there. He drew party hats, and flowers, a small piñata, and some cookies. He only stopped when he realized what he didn’t know what he was drawing at the moment. It was dark pink that was for sure, it was poufy, and strangely resembled Pinkie Pie’s mane… What a minuet?!
“Oooo!! Nice cupcake” Pinkie Pie said with excitement.
“Yeah, cupcake.” Before she could get suspicious, he quickly drew a brown cup under the pink blob and continued to fill the inside with a lighter shade of brown. After a while, the party decorations were set and finished and more ponies had left their houses to see what the new commotion was about.
Pinkie Pie had set up a microphone with speakers and announced the new party before making Cheese Sandwich appear in front of the crowd, claiming it was a magic trick of some kind, and almost scaring the colt to death before announcing the party was for him. Everypony was having a blast as the party went on through the night. They played more games, had the cake Pinkie bought, and talked with friends. After about 9:00 p.m. the party had ended, not without Pinkie getting a bit of praise for such an amazing second party.
Once everything was quiet and everypony was gone, Cheese volunteered to help clean up, besides, it was his party and she had did it for him. Something about that made him all tingly inside, yet, he didn’t know why. Around forty five minutes later most of the party remains had been cleaned up, at that time, Pinkie was tying all the lasting balloons onto her tail while Cheese was cleaning all the streamers off the party table. Once the table was cleaned off Cheese called Pinkie to the side.
When they stopped, they were at the bottom of the hill. Pinkie kept watching Cheese expectantly as he shuffled nervously from hoof to hoof. She was about to speak up until Cheese did for her. This was starting to get a bit awkward. “H-hey Pinkie?”
She giggled. “Yeah?”
“T-the way you make ponies happy… How do you do it?” He asked slowly. She giggled again and not to his surprise, he started to laugh too.
“Is that what you want to know silly!?” She beamed, he nodded eagerly. “Just smile, be happy and stay positive~!” She shouted in a sing song voice.

“Could you show me?”
