A living daymare

A crash resounded around the small Canterlot house as something smashed through what sounded like a window downstairs.  A Sudden shriek soon followed and a young unicorn colt tumbled out of bed at the noise.  He had no idea what just happened but it had woken him out of a dead sleep, and that was exceedingly rare considering he was used to the bustle of the day droning on as he slumbered.

"Mom?!  Wha-what the heck was that!?"

He heard more shrieks and a few cries for help as a scuffle took place from what sounded like the hallway.

"M-mom!?"

The colt panicked, he wasn't sure what was going on and it sounded like someone was hurting his mom but he wasn't sure what to do!  He was only a foal after all! A blank flank! What if they tried to hurt him too?!  He couldn't just hide in his room though, what if he COULD somehow help?

A thud hit his door and the struggles rolled further down the hall.

"I-I'm c-c-comin' M-mom-m-my!"

The terrified little colt stumbled out of his blankets and reached the door.  He yanked on the handle with his teeth and it popped open.  He poked his head out to see his mother kicking and screaming against some weird black pony with bug wings, a horn, and holes in its body.  He froze in terror as it gnashed at his mother who tried desperately to get it off her.

He was horrified as this thing from his worst daymares tried to eviscerate his mom.  His head finally thought something coherent.  "It's trying to hurt her BAD!" He didn't even think about what was going on, he just wanted it away and suddenly he was there staring at the creature as it realized that this little foal had just dared attack him while he was trying to feed!

It bared its fangs and pushed itself into a position to pounce on the offending colt when a flash of purple struck out at the creatures face.  The small foal vaguely registered a couple of crashes from his own room as more of... Something broke into the house, but he was more concerned with how absurdly funny that thing that had once been so scary looked with a blank look in it's bug eyes and its fangs knocked out.  It swayed and fell over in a heap as his mother hurriedly pulled him away; pulling the door of his room shut on an intrusive head that had popped its head out.

They barged out of the house and onto a chaotic street where guards fought to protect ponies against overwhelming odds.  The bewildered couple got caught up into a crowd of fleeing city folk being chased towards the castle.  The torrent carried the very unfortunate pair through the streets as demonic black creatures that vaguely imitated Alicorns would swoop in and attack the herd while it tried desperately to get away.

Guards became more common as they got closer to the center of the city as did the creatures.  The herd became boxed in by the creatures and the small pockets of guard resistance were nearly overwhelmed as they horde of black menaces descended upon the crowd of terrified ponies.  During all this a small foal was ripped from his mother's side and roughly shoved into a small capsized trashcan which proceed to roll out between two feeding creatures and into a dark alleyway.

The little colt wriggled out of the trashcan unsteady, distressed, and scared half to death.  He took a brief inventory of his surroundings and was met by the sight of two of the black evil things biting and seemingly drinking some wispy stuff from some ponies, who had fallen into some sort of deep sleep in which the barely breathed.  The foal squeaked but luckily the creatures where too engrossed in their meals to acknowledge him.

He quickly hurried to the other side of the alleyway and came upon yet another pony that had been bit.  This one had woken up however and was crying so deeply and desperately it was as if there was nothing else she was capable of.

The young colt couldn't even comprehend what was happening to the city.  Sure there had been that weird bubble around the city for a few days but that had gone away now.  Why was everyone getting hurt all of a sudden?  He slumped over into a trash bag as his exaustion from his interupted sleep and shock took hold for a moment.

Another creature dropped down and moved towards the sobbing mare.

"Oh goodie! Your ssstill here, I just had to get a few of thossse others we corralled in that courtyard.  Sssorry to keep you waiting!"

The thing laugh an evil hissing laugh as it finished its sentence.  It bit down on the mare and began to suck.  The colt couldn't take it; he just wanted to make it go away.  His mind desperately imagined that the thing would just be flung away and never come back.  He was angry and scared and a little sore from all that running and the trash can that it took him a moment to register exactly what just happened.

He watched the thing, unmistakably; go flying through the air sideways.  He didn't even know what had happened!  He pushed himself back up and took a few tentative steps forward watching the thing twitch in the street and try to stand before getting a rough kick to the head by a guard... a guard who was promptly pounced on by three other of the creatures.

The foal watched as the guard struggled, still confused about what he had somehow done.  He glanced over at the mare that was still crying and yet still managed to force a small smile of gratitude before flopping over quietly sobbing once more.

He didn't know how he knew it but he just knew he could help again.  He charged forward towards the now pinned guard and imagined as hard as he could that the things would get sent flying away.  He focus and he wished and a flash of blue light flared just as the things were sent right into the wall of a terrace behind them along with a surprised guard who was flipped into them causing the dark creatures even more pain.

He struggled to his hooves and gave an estranged look at his savior.  A small blank flank unicorn with a dark blue coat, mane, and tail with streaks of frost blue in the mane and tail.  He nodded awkwardly and then moved to help another struggling guard who had just been overwhelmed by three more enemies.

The young colt couldn't think of what else to do so he decided he would just make ALL the bad things go away!  He rushed back into the alley and ran into the two black demon things he had previously ran from, focused, and sent them flying away.  He felt slightly woozy after that but he couldn't stop!

He charged into the mass of panicking ponies fighting for their lives like a mad pony.  He was scared, angry, and had some weird trick that could make the bad things go away!  He tried to take out as many as he could, and soon others joined him with whatever they could.  He felt an odd kind of tiredness slowly creeping up on him as he blasted more and more away, aside from the normal kind that he was already struggling with. His small size saved him a few times when the creatures started to come after him but eventually one swooped in and plucked him out of the herd that had finally started to turn the tide.

He struggled and tried to get away but he was starting to feel SO tried and his head was getting so dizzy it took him a little while to send the things away.  Then he felt the single most painful thing in his life, the creature BIT him!  It was horrible as all the hope and love and happiness just seemed to flow out of him bit by bit.  He was starting to not even care anymore when a flash of magenta light smashed into the creatures like a giant moving wall!

It looked sort of like his trick except it was so much bigger and it made EVERY creature go away.  The little foal was so surprise that he didn't even know he had been falling until something else caught him.  It was dark, it was warm, and though he could put together the words of it in his head he felt the concern and love pour out.  His mind reeled as everything caught up to him at once.

The thing landed and he felt the ground under his hooves, it tried to walk away but he panicked.  With the last reserves he had... he clutched the thing close... and cried himself into unconsciousness...
