Water Lily's Story

The three were relieved to see the hut hadn't been struck by lightning, but their relief evaporated when they saw the tree that had. It was a tall dead tree right next to Zecora's hut. Zecora gasped at the sound of the splintering trunk; the flaming tree was leaning closer and closer to their home. CRACK! The tree had fallen down, and it had lit part of the hut on fire.

Before Lily could process what had just happened, Cattail had rushed into the hut and grabbed four empty viles. He ran to the pond to fill them with water. Zecora helped him carry the viles back to the hut and he flung it onto the flames. The flames let out a hissing sound and seemed to disappear in one place, but they soon resumed spreading across the tree branches.

Water Lily's heart thudded against her chest and she let out a wail. All her limbs trembled with the adrenaline rushing through her body. Her home meant so much to her. It meant so much to Cattail and Zecora. All three of them would be devastated if it burned. She couldn't allow that to happen. She ignored the yells of Cattail to stop what she was doing as she flew up toward the fire. I have to smother the flames! She beat her wings violently against the fire, and was soon joined by Cattail, who did the same. "Children, NO! You'll be hurt, I know!" Zecora yelled at the two of them. Smoke rose from the top of the tree as the flames began to die out. hiss... Lily and Cattail had smothered all of the flames.
