Paint Splatter and the New Town
Paint Splatter slammed the door behind her as she walked into her apartment. She stretched out on the sofa on the living room...and screamed into a pillow. "Hard day at work?" Cocoa Blitz, Paint's mother, asked from the kitchen. Paint jumped, completely forgetting that her mom was staying with her while her house was being treated for parasprites. "Uh...yea you could say that." Paint replied, sitting up.
Cocoa walked by and ruffled her daughter's hair and sat next to her. "Alright, tell me what happened." Coco said softly. Paint rolled her eyes. Her mom may be the best physiologist in Equestria (according to some ponies) but she did not need to dig into Paint's work life. It was just...awkward. She felt her mom poke her flank, practically chanting "Tell me."
After a few minutes, she sighed, "Fine Mom. I'll talk." Paint shifted around on the sofa to get comfortable. "So today, you know how I was doing a portrait for Princess Twilight right?" she started. The light brown pegasus nodded in response. "Well, the Princess was running a little late. And knowing she must be busy, I was okay with it. Important people are sometimes late." Paint continued, "But then my boss, Mr. Has-Something-Up-His-Butt, comes in and tells me he got someone else to do the portrait!" Cocoa patted her daughter on the shoulder and muttered, "It wasn't that bad. You've been replaced before right?" Paint pushed her mom's hoof away and huffed, "Yea, but this time boss said that he found someone better. You know how bad that'll look?" She then got an idea. "I'll be in the studio if needed!" she called as she ran to the small room in the back of the apartment that she converted into her art studio.
"This will be fun."
~A few hours later~
"Perfect!" Paint said, and put down her paint brush. She looked at her masterpiece. It was her boss as a puppet with his strings being pulled by an unknown force. She chuckled to herself and put the painting aside. Then Paint looked at the clock and saw that she was gonna be late for an appointment with Fancy Pants. "Mom! Can you send in a portrait for me? It's in the studio! Thankyouokaybye!" she rambled as she ran out the door. Cocoa rolled her eyes at her daughter and went to the back room and grabbed the painting with what looked like a puppet on it...
