//-------------------------------------------------------// Something lost Something gained -by Forgedheart- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue                 I knew something was wrong when I woke up and my house was silent. That was weird because my mom has really bad arthritis and constantly needs my help with small things, like making breakfast and cleaning, stuff like that. Confused, I sat up in my bed and looked around my room nothing looked out of the ordinary so why did I feel like something was wrong? I slowly got up out of bed and got dressed for school, made sure my cat Midna had food and water then opened my door to go get some breakfast and check on my mom. When I entered my kitchen I saw something that convinced me something was wrong my mom was cooking eggs, bacon, and pancakes. "Mom?" I stated with shock and confusion. She turned to me and gave me the biggest smile I've ever seen on her. "Matthew!" she cried with glee "It's amazing! I woke up and my hands didn't hurt at all so I figured I’d let you sleep in today. Want some eggs?" "No thanks, Mom. I gotta go to school; but don't push yourself. I don't want you to be in pain because of me," I replied, still trying to shake this feeling of unease. "Okay. Bye, honey," she gleefully states. As I rode the bus to school I asked myself, "I wonder if anyone else is having this strange feeling." ________________________________________ It was early in the morning, six thirty to be precise. I was in a state between awake and asleep, but slowly coming to my senses. It was seven by the time I fully woke, and I was in a panic. "Dammit!" I said in an irritated voice. I mentally slap myself before getting up, and going into my parents’ room to wake them up so that they can take me to school. To my surprise my parents were both awake, which was strange because they always seem to oversleep. They and sister were fully dressed and ready to go. "Get ready son you're up a bit late, we don't want to be late now do we?" my father said in a rather jolly voice. This was strange; my father was always kinda a grump in the morning and this took me by surprise. "Okie doki, then," I replied to him in a rather concerned voice. I left the room, put on my cloths, brushed my teeth and then left with my father and sister out the door and into our car and off to school. It was so very strange, something was off. On top of that there was a ominous fog that felt wrong. "I wonder if anyone else was having an off day," I think to myself looking out my cars passenger side window. "Nah that's rubbish Anthony," I countered myself. ________________________________________ When I got to school I noticed that the other kids were acting strange it was almost like they were frighted of something whatever it was seemed to emanate from the ominous fog surrounding the school. "This day just keeps getting stranger and stranger," I thought. Without realizing it I had literally ran into my best friend Anthony we both let out am "oof" as we collided "Oh! I'm sorry, man. I wasn't looking where I was going. Are you OK?" I quickly apologized. "It's okay, man" he replied in a light voice as if he was worried. "Yeah, hey Anthony please tell me you noticed something off this morning?" His faced switched from concern to shock and falling into relief. "Oh thank heaven. I'm not the only one!" he said with delight. "Yeah. Me to my mom woke up and did the chore's hersel-" I was cut off by a loud deafening sound that reminded me of metal banging against solid rock. Me and Anthony let out a confused "what" as a flash of pure white light flashed right in front of us and, as I drifted into unconsciousness, I heard a deep voice announce, "Yes, they'll do nicely" followed by maniacal laughter. ________________________________________ The first thing I noticed when I awoke was the cold stone floor on which I was laying. Slowly I open my eyes and look around. I appeared to be in a library; but this library was old and decrepit. It looked as though the last people to visit had done so hundreds of years ago. "Where am I?" I asked myself and I sat up rubbing my eyes. "And how did I get here—?" I stop as I notice what looks like a gray stub slowly moves across my face. I raised my hand to move whatever it is away, thinking it's just someone messing with me, when another stub moves across my face. I immediately feel around for my glasses; finding them I quickly come to my senses and jumped to my feet, only to lose my balance and fall flat on my back. "Slick, Matt, real slick," I chided myself as I slowly raise my hands once more, only see the stubs. No, not stubs, hooves I realized, and with this in mind, raise my head to look at my feet and low and behold I also had hoofs in place of feet. Slowly I try to stand up on my hooves and through some effort manage to stand. Slowly I look around to get my bearings, and I notice not only am I in a library, but it appears to be in the ruins of a castle. I notice a mirror in the corner of the room slowly I walk towards it, if only to get a good look at myself. What I see is not me but a pony with a gray coat, dark brown eyes, short tail, a black mane, and on top of all that a gray horn. "Okay, if this is a dream I’d like to wake up now?" I ask, hoping someone or something will help me. "Ugh" I sign in defeat. When I stop, memories of the light, sound, and laughter flooding back into my mind. "Maybe I’m not the only one who was dragged here?" I questioned. "Maybe I should go looking for them." Suddenly I hear a loud but sudden crash "Hello? anyone else here?" ________________________________________ My vision was blurred after I woke from the blackness that ensnared me after the blinding light and deafening boom. My eyes slowly, but soon started seeing correctly. I jolted up from shock only to fall right back down to the ground which seemed to be grass and dirt. "Oof!" I said as my face hit the ground. I got back up slowly this time getting my footing, only to notice instead of standing on two legs I was standing on four. "Whoa! What the hell?!" I shout as I noticed the four legs. I look down to see that my feet were instead hoofs , same with my hands. My heart was beating fast. This was insane; there was no way that what I’m seeing now was real. As I had that thought I felt this strange feeling on my back. I turn my head to try and get a look at my back, only to find that there lay wings. "Oh my god. This can't possibly be happening; this must be a dream," I said to myself in shock over seeing wings on my back. I finally look around to see my surroundings. I noticed that I seemed to be in a courtyard of some sort. "How did I get here?" I said, and as I did my head started hurting, trying to remember what happened before the big flash of light and loud booming noise. "Dammit! I got nothing," I said to myself in defeat. I took another glimpse at my wings before having the idea of actually trying them out. It took a little bit but I finally was able to move my wings up and down. I looked around again and saw a staircase which led to a moderately high overlook. I walked up the staircase, and looked over the courtyard from the overlook. "Okay, Anthony, this one’s gonna fly, I can feel it." I took a couple steps back before jumping off the overlook and flapping my wings in a attempt to fly. To my surprise I was actually flying; unfortunately for me I had no control. I was dashing all about, no idea how to stop. I made a turn and straight in front of me was a passage into the castle. I flew into it and then crashed with a loud bang into a wall.
