The Specter of Harmony

Twilight walked down the main street of Ponyville thinking and calculating. She had just gotten an urgent letter from Princess Celestia along with a scroll with something in it. She thought what was inside the scroll and why the Princess sent it to her.

"Well Spike, it seems we'll have to find our friends later instead." Twilight began to Walk toward the library"But Twilight you do realize that our friends will get worried when they see you cooped up in the library all day." Spike said worriedly "I'll leave a note on the door Spike so stop worrying." replied Twilight in an annoyed tone.

"Yeah like I'm the one who worries the most about little things" he said smugly. Twilight began to think harshly of Spike that moment while they were next to the library. When I get my hands on you I'll... She couldn't finish her thought as she bumped into someone in front of her. She was about to say "Watch where you're walking!" but immediately shut herself up as she saw who it was in front of her.

"S-Sky Shatter, hey w-what a lovely surprise to see you here." She stuttered out.

He was a sky green colored Pegasus with short spiky hair with a ripped-in-half storm cloud as his cutie-mark. He chuckled lightly and and offered a hand to help her up. "Hey Twilight, I was just looking for you." He said warmly. Twilight blushed as she was talking to the stallion of her dreams and was caught in a trance as she stared at Sky Shatter for a bit. "Uh Twilight? Are you ok" he said worriedly. "I'm fine! I'm fine! I am totally fine! You do not need to worry about me I am completely sane! She said hastily as she shoved Spike inside the library door with an "Ouch" from him and threw the door closed.

"Um if it's too much trouble I'll come back later then" he said as he walked away from the library. Twilight sank as she held herself in a fetal position after what happened. She started crying until Spike came up to her and said"Twilight? would you like me to tell the girls not to disturb you until then? he said at the weeping mare. Twilight sniffed and got up from her spot and looked thoughtfully into Spike's eyes. "Thanks Spike I would really appreciate it if you did tell them, I just completely made a fool of myself out there and... well thanks Spike." Spike hugged Twilight and walked out the door to find the rest of the elements.

Meanwhile a shadowy figure lurked in the bushes outside the library, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. When he saw the dragon leave he made his move, silently opening the door and walking in. He had a variety of weapons to get rid of the mare inside, but he decided her death should be simple: a knife to the chest. Twilight saw the stallion and looked over to him "Sorry sir but the library is closed today. Maybe you can come back-

Twilight gasped as she felt a sharp pain and found a glowing blue knife sticking out of her chest. She collapsed and started coughing up blood, and saw the stallion pull his hood off and watched as he laughed at her. "So this is the famous Twilight Sparkle? I expected more of a challenge when it came to kill you." He continued to laugh and when he finally stopped he put on a horrible smile. "Well Miss Sparkle, I'm afraid I'll have to get rid of your corpse after this. Can't have any of your friends or that little dragon pet of yours interfering." Twilight struggled to get up, but couldn't find the strength to do so. "He is NOT my pet!" she yelled, regretting it as she doubled over in pain. She tried to use magic but found that she couldn't at all. "Tsk tsk tsk" he said as he waved his finger at her. "I thought you were smarter than this, let me give a little history lesson then" he said as his horn glowed and stopped Twilight from bleeding out much to the agonizing pain she felt. "You do know that Celestia banned all magical poisons and weapons after the Discordian Era am I Correct? Well not all of them were destroyed, this one prevents all use of magic from the victim for example." he stated academically. "So even if you do survive this I'm afraid you'll be..... how should I put this? Handicapped I presume for the rest of your short life."

Twilight saw someone knock down the door to the library and saw Spike and her friends rush in. Rainbow Dash saw the figure in the room and tried to tackle him but the stallion shoved her away with his magic. "You'll all regret this, but wait- she's already dying." A bright flash filled the room and the stallion was gone, leaving behind his knife.

"Twilight!" the rest of the Mane 6 said as they gathered around their fallen friend. Don't worry Twilight we'll get some help just stay with us! Rainbow Dash said. "Don't worry she'll pull through I know she will and then we'll have a huge party and then we'll search for the big meany pants and then we'll..... "Pinkie! please." Twilight choked as she bled out. "Girls no matter what comes after. I want all of you to keep being yourselves, don't waste the time you have left on the past. Go, live your lives and do what you love the most, find that special somepony that I never had and live, Pinkie Promise?" The girls started crying seeing their friend like this and they all replied weeping "Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye" Twilight let lose a tear knowing her friends would be fine without her and began to lose consciousness as she stared at the ceiling of the library, taking a last breath and finally fading from the world.

Twilight heard a voice, a sweet motherly tone the voice had.

My sweet child, Come to me as there is much to know. I have something in mind, a second chance for you I will show. You must save Celestia from evils known to me, you must save Equestria from an ancient enemy.
