I flew through the skies as fast as a bolt of lightning. The wind blew through my mane, I felt like I was one with the sky. My wings didn’t need to flap; the wind carried me across the sky. I felt so free flowing. I had never felt so free in my life. Not only was this happening, but also I felt so excited because I was going to have a hoof-wrestling match with Applejack. I’ve been training all week for this. For once I have a chance of beating AJ. She always beats me, and I hate losing. Today I will be laughing in her face when I finally win … well I will be a good sport about it, but I will still laugh!
I flew right over Sweet Apple Acers. I had to make a cool entrance, or when I tell to other ponies it will 20% less cooler. I flew up high in the sky. The sun started to make me sweat, but I didn’t care. While I was flying up higher I looked down to see Applejack watch me, but I didn’t see here. Where the hay was she? I looked around all of Sweet Apple Acers but still no sign of AJ. I was super confused. I had to come to her rescue. I bolted to the barn of Sweet Apple Acers. I looked around but couldn’t find her.
This was bad, very, very bad. What if someone took her? What if she got lost in the Everfree forest? What if, what if, what if she got turned into an apple? Ah, Celestia what if I ate her? I had to find her, or else something really bad could happen. I couldn’t find her in her barn. This is when I started to worry. I never thought AJ would go missing after when she left to work at that cherry farm. AJ was always a good friend to me. We were almost exactly alike. We both liked to compete against each other, and we always had fun doing this.
I went to Sugar Cube Corner to get Pinkie to help. When I flew over the small bakery I found dozens of ponies crowded around one table. What was going on? Why were so many ponies crowded around? Pinkie wasn’t doing her crazy dance where she hops on one leg and lifts a filly up with two other legs. It might seem safe, but it's not. Trust me I know, she wanted to try a grown pony. I was in a neck cast for two weeks. I landed on the pathway in front of the bakery. The crowd was packed. Everypony was cheering. Just what was going on?
I shoved some ponies out of my way. They scolded me, but I didn’t care. I just wanted to know what was going on. I soon found AJ. I sighed in relief that I knew she was safe and sound, but just why was she here and not a Sweet Apple Acers. I pushed a stallion that was blocking half of my view out of the way. My jaw dropped to the ground. I couldn’t believe my eyes as I saw who AJ was arm wrestling. A turquoise pony with a golden mane. It was none other than Lightning Dust.
The two ponies started to sweat. I didn’t want to see this, but I did want to cheer on AJ. “Go AJ!” I cheered at the top of my lungs. The orange pony looked at me. She started to lose. She lost focus, and it was my fault. She was going to lose because of me! I felt terrible. Suddenly a smile came onto AJ’s face and she started to beat Lightning Dust. I started to cheer. I wasn’t going to let some sort of selfish jerk beat my best friend in a hoof-wrestling match. Applejack and Lightning Dust’s hooves were now in the middle and AJ started to lower both of their hooves. Lightning Dust started to push harder, but she couldn’t. Her hoof hit the side of the table hard. A huge grin came upon my face as I saw my friend win and my frenemy loose.
I ran up to AJ and high hoofed her. “Awesome job AJ!” I cheered,
“Well, I can see that you’re not at Las Pegasas.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I got a postcard from you saying that you were in Las Pegasas, so all of our plans this week were cancelled.”
“I didn’t send any postcard.”
“Are you sure?”
“Does it look like I am in Las Pegasas right now?”
“You got me there.”
Lightning Dust walked up to us. “Hey, AJ you did.”
“GET OUT OF HERE YOU JERK!” I yelled,
“Wow Rainbow take it easy” Lightning Dust smirked,
“No you should take it.”
“Rainbow stop, Lightning has changed” AJ interrupted,
“But Applejack she almost killed you.”
“It was just an honest mistake, I didn’t mean for that tornado to get out of control, and when we saved your friends I tried to play it cool but I ended up acting like a jerk. I swear I feel terrible about it” Lightning claimed,
“Well okay” I sighed feeling a little guilty, “Sorry, I just, thought.”
“I know Rainbow, no need to worry though” Lightning Laughed,
“Now we’ll all be friends!” AJ cheered. Lightning gave us a group hug.
“Well, don’t know about you two but I got to go, see yah!” Lightning said as she started to fly off. I could hear her mumble to herself “Step one complete.”
Lightning Does Strike Twice
I just don’t know who sent Applejack a letter saying I was in Las Pegasas. That’s been on my mind lately. Who would do something like? I’ve been nothing but loyal to my friends and the ponies around me. Who would be that mean? I was really worried when I thought that something happened to AJ. I had a little hunch she was fine, but what if something did happen? All these questions that are racing through my head will just have to be put aside.
We were all at Sugar Cube Corner. Well, not all of us just AJ, Lightning Dust, and I. I didn’t get anything there, I wasn’t all that hungry. I was just really surprised that Lightning Dust was in Ponyville and just happened to see Applejack, and Applejack just happened to be doing nothing. Applejack was the first to sit at the table. The orange pony was ready to gobble down on an apple fritter. I was ready to sit next to her, but than Lightning came. She stole my seat! I literally pulled out the seat for myself, but then she actually stole it! What the hay Lightning? I was ready to say that, that seat was for me, but before I could possibly open my mouth Lightning gave a glare at me as if threatening me. I just moved to the other seat instead. If she wanted to have that seat so badly than she could.
AJ swallowed a mouthful of food down her throat. She was almost finished with it, I was really surprised. She had never eaten anything that fast before. By the time she was finished Lightning Dust got her food. “Sorry girls, I got to head back to the barn” she sighed,
“No worry I’ll just take my food to go!” Lightning cheered,
“And I am free for the rest of the day, I could go with you two,” I said. Applejack gave a “Ye ha!” and was dancing around. I smiled, I was happy we would all be able to do something together. When I looked at a Lightning Dust I tried to give her a hoof bump, but she just walked right out of the door a little mad.
“Hey, AJ we better get going,” Lightning said at the doorway,
“You’re right, come on Rainbow!” Applejack cheered as she pulled me to the doorway. We all walked out together. It was actually pretty nice, and peaceful, but than Lightning came.
“Hey, AJ want to race?” Lightning asked,
“Sure, but wouldn’t Rainbow want to race with us too?” AJ asked I looked at Lightning Dust who was giving me another glare. I could tell she didn’t want anything to do with me.
“Uh … I’m cool you two race” I said a little nervous. I didn’t know what Lightning wanted or why she was here, but she still didn’t want to look at my face. Although I wasn’t part of the race, I did get to say “1 2 3” I didn’t get to say go though cause Lightning stole that, like how she stole my chair. There was at first a huge dust cloud as they raced into action, but as it slowly died down I could see that AJ was far ahead of us, and there was a turquoise Pegasus standing right in front of me.
“If you still want to still be AJ’s friend then you won't get between us. Do you hear me?” Lightning growled,
“Applejack would never not want to be my friend.”
“Oh, trust me. You still don’t know what I’m capable of” Lightning growled again. Before I could say anything she bolted away. What did she mean, you don’t know what I am capable of? I knew she couldn’t control a tornado, or be a leader, so what could she mean? I thought she was only good at being mean. I didn’t want to take my chances, so I left not sure what AJ would think next time I see her. what I really wanted to do was hit Lightning Dust hard in the face, so that she would get a messed up face, like how she is sort of messing up my life.
