Prologue: Why did i get this job?
The first day of my journal,
I slowly walk into the interviewing room that many medical ponies must in order to be accepted or denied to the best possible position ever in medicine. I am obviously nervous knowing that I'm unexperienced as well as just a pony looking for something to do. My cutie mark is that of a red cross and heart I'm trying hard to remember why I'd even applied for medicine but for the life of me I just can't seem to remember… Oh, its my Nephew he suffers from a condition called Magic degeneration, basically its explained like this: basically everypony has some type of magic inside him/herself which is why Tierik was able to cause so much mayhem, the type of magic is shown through a pony's cutiemark what they're exemplary at.
They say that Ponies with this condition don't live long at all and are practically read their final rights then and there. For whatever reason, my Nephew is still surviving despite the odds. He slowly rots away and this just makes me sad and angry that nopony can do anything for him. Yet again though it makes every moment with him just a treasure.
I walk over and sit in a chair the only one that seems to be in this dark, dank room. I sit down and wait anxiously clicking my hooves together. minutes pass and the room still hasn't lit up. 'Is it their lunch break' I think to myself waiting a few moments more. the lights come on and I find myself face to face with a mare sitting in a chair opposite me.
"Hello," I said to an interviewer, "I'm here for the job interview."
"Ah Jon Buck is it?" the interviewer asked.
"yes, that is my name, but its likely somepony misspelled it. its 'B-u-c-h' not 'B-u-c-k'."
"All right," the interviewer said fixing the clerical error on the sheet on her clip board. "It says here you're applying for a for a medical job is that right?"
"Yes Ma'am." I reply
"All right," the inter viewer replied "It says here that you're applying on account of your nephew's condition called Magic Degeneration is that right?"
"yes Ma'am." I reply
"it is tragic that some ponies suffer from that… you have my sympathy." the interviewer replied
"thank you." I reply my voice wavering a bit.
The interviewer looked at his sheets once more before continuing on; "It says here you have very little medical training is that true?"
"yes, it is; however, through the use of my horn I have been able to become pretty fluent in medical terminology as well as it enlightening me to many cures to many diseases as well. Look, if I'm denied once more just because of medical experience than just post me somewhere where I can at least be a clinic clown to at least help the sick fillies colts feel better."
The interviewer looked at his papers once more then back at Jon. "you do know medicine is a serious science, not one that magic can willy-nilly, right? its the one thing that most times separates life from death; that said, how do you think you can contribute to it just being as you put it a 'clinic clown'?"
"I've perfected a magic infusion spell one that can restart anypony's heart. the only down side is that it takes a lot out of me and if the pony its preformed on has no will left to live then that pony will die on the stretcher or the bed." I reply back expecting a solid stamp on the papers to say the red and final DENIED. its happened too many times before after I've delivered that grim statement why should this time be any different?
"Mr. Buch," the interviewer said to him getting up from her chair to possibly do a circling taunt that usually meant that the previous interviewers were indecisive; "Believe me when I tell you, that I don't believe your magical prowess."
"Nopony ever has," I replied remembering those other times i've been denied "and it seems nopony ever will…"
"To that I say your loss I am a decent nurse but I am no doctor." I finish after a small period of silence between me and my interviewer as she sat back down in her chair.
"If there were anyway to prove your credentials, I would give you a one way ticket to the Ponyville clinic where you can work your way up from there." the interviewer replied.
"There is only two ways in which i can do this: One, I need a recently deceased pony like seconds deceased. that or just a CPR dummy."
"That's oddly specific Mr.Buch have you ever done this spell before?" the interviewer asked looking at him in wonderment.
I have, but only on CPR dummies. suffice to say, the effects were…" I pause looking for the right words. clearing my throat I then say "shocking."
"We do have CPR dummies if you do wish to show us your talent." the interviewer said.
"I'll show you what I can do." I said ready for once to be proven right.
The interviewer stepped out and grabs a CPR dummy from the other room. He enters back in with a mare dummy and tosses it to my side "here you are; Let's see what your magic can do, shall we?" she says to me.
I begin to power up my magic normally this spell doesn't take too much to conjure up, but the only thing was that day I was a little stressed. I was ready to prove my competence as a nurse and doctor but yet again, I felt as though, if I went down this path there was no going back I. had to take whatever road I chose very carefully, that made that spell, that one time, the hardest to ever conger in my life. after a minute of indecision, the spell hit the dummy and it took a lot out of me. I was woozie from the experience of finally proving myself.
The dummy came to life after being just a lifeless sack of potatoes to say the least. Little by little, the hooves began to move and then the whole legs. If seen, it would be a little like watching a cat's tail slowly move up and down when the cat just doesn't want to move its tail at all. the CPR dummy began to lift its self up. once it was up on all fours, it went over and slapped the interviewer, perhaps for how she'd thrown the mare dummy into my field to begin with.
The dummy being that it wasn't a living pony slumped back to its sack of potatoes like state before I'd preformed the spell on it. The Interviewer was impressed to say the least, and dumbfounded to have a CPR dummy slap her in the nuzzle. Her hoof quickly went for the green ACCEPTED stamp and from that day on I was accepted to Ponyville Clinic.

Part I Recollections
Chapter 1: ugh… vomit.
Things like patients vomiting are one of the many things that make me wonder why I even chose this field of study and such.one of the worst cases of having multiple patients vomiting was when the Flimflam brothers were in town trying to wrench sweet apple acres from the sweet apple family. Luckily, though, Applejack’s perseverance and the help she’d received from her friends had pushed back their pursuit; otherwise I fear more ponies would be suffering from some stomach bug.
One of the things I can’t stomach is upchuck so when Ponyville Clinic was left to my careful hooves I was unprepared for when the first pony who’d taste tested the flimflam brother’s apple cider came in with a stomach bug.
The patient called the nurse which was actually me at the time to help him with something. I did as any nurse should and went to check up on the poor chap, as soon as I had the room had the foul stench of vomit.
“bullgh!!” the sound came from the pony that was admitted into this facility as bile and the remains of the pony’s lunch spewed from his mouth.
Why am I stuck with this job, I think to myself as I get ready for the unbearable task of clean up. Swiftly, I go into the cabinet above the sink in the patient’s room and reveal a wash cloth quickly I sterilize that cloth then I bend down to where the puke is. Normally I would be using my magic for this sort of clean up but I was fairly new to the profession and hadn’t gotten much sleep at all the previous night making both magic and well, this a little over taxing. While on the ground I manage to levitate a small bowl to the patient as yet another vomiting sound and more vomit spewed from his mouth.
“Thanks.” The colt said receiving the bucket in time; “you know you could use your unicorn magic to help right?” the patient said to me.
I was trying to make an excuse as for why I hadn’t and after a moment of searching one came to me. “Sometimes a pony just has to hoof it;” I replied back, “sometimes one has to get a little nitty-gritty.”
The colt liked my ‘elbow greasy’ attitude and just left me to clean up. The foul smell of half-digested vegetables were about to make me upchuck so as I leaned in to clean up the mess I stopped smelling and started breathing through my mouth. That didn’t work as the stench still made the small detour through my mouth then to the nose. The sterilized rag with my hoof behind it began to slowly scrape the half eaten stomach acidy mush and the feel of the decomposing vegetables was about making me vomit.
I knew I had to quicken my pace as a yet another sound of my poor patient vomiting filled the room. I had had it, I was about to upchuck myself but I slowly tried to force my lunch back down my throat the vomit was now in the rag that I carried to the sink for the disposal to take care of. The job at that moment had been half done as the pile of puke was half less. Sterilizing the rag once more I began to slowly pick up what had been left; this time wasn’t nearly as hard as the last, as I’d gotten used to the feel of this sickening liqudey mush.
As I finished the job the patient looked at me and asked if I could empty his puke bucket in the bathroom toilet I simply agreed taking the bucket with my magic and not looking at all at the contents as for sure the sight of the puke would have surely driven my body to hurl its self.
A quick bathroom trip nothing more, I reassured my body hoping this would be the last thing I’d have to do. The contents of the bucket filled the toilet like a brick hitting the ocean a small plop was all that was heard and as I reached to flush the toilet the sight hit me. The swirling motion of which the water turned taking the puke elsewhere didn’t make things better as I had to lean over and… “Bullgh!!”
The feeling of burning was in my throat as I’d thrown up my lunch I was now very likely to be reported but I didn’t care at least I made it by cleaning up somepony else’s puke.
I couldn’t handle it at all, even as a small colt taking care of my mom when she was sick I still had to have my dad do it as I just stood away from that foulness and made every sense dark.
I didn’t regret throwing up my lunch but I did regret that soon after my puke fit was done that the patient had yet another. “This is going to be a long day.” I said to myself hoping that once again the same thing doesn’t happen as I clean up the second mess from the patient, to my surprise and the relief of the patient it didn’t.
The day continued on as normal soon after the pony medics got back from their lunch break.
“Oh, what happened to you?” nurse Red Heart asked looking at my changed face after that puking incident.
“I cleaned up somepony’s puke,” I simply replied seeing that was most likely a common thing for doctors to do in this small town. “for the first time, ever…”
At the ending of my sentence the doctors just simply laughed seeing how distraught I was at my first time doing something that others considered normal doctorate procedure. I was down on myself until another mare, Tender Heart, in the back of the pack looked at me with sympathetic eyes saying “The same thing happened my first time.”
My eyes turned to her and I smiled a bit happy that I wasn't the only one to have this happen.
