The Koopa Book: Breaking the Habit
Prologue
Load Full StoryLarry let out another torrent of blue fireballs at the pesky plumber who was able to jump over the flames and Larry himself. He growled as he whipped his tail at the plumber and he was hit into a wall causing Larry to screech with laughter.
Suddenly he heard a familiar sound and his eyes widened when he saw Mario burst from the wall and he was flashing different colors. Mario must have found a star and Larry knew he would not be able to win.
Mario quickly jumped over Larry and grabbed his tail and then started to spin faster and faster and Larry could feel his face turn green. Then Mario let go and Larry let out a yelp and his face met wall.
Karma’s a bitch.
Larry growled as he burst from the rubble that had collapsed on him and looked over at Mario whose star power had worn out and Larry raised his wand high before firing a barrage of fireballs straight at Mario.
Mario ran from the fireballs and went straight to a wall and when he got close to the wall jumped from the wall and the fireballs blew up the wall while he landed on the floor. Mario gave a smirk before he ran at Larry.
Larry let out a primal roar and ran straight at Mario and the two were running full speed at each other with Larry's wand glowing and setting himself on fire. Larry would have won the battle if it weren't for the hammer Mario pulled out and he jumped up and smashed it on to Larry’s head.
Larry let out a cry of pain and stumbled back and into a wall and Mario then chucked the hammer and it hit the wall Larry had just stumbled into and slowly the wall crumbled right on top of him.
Mario walked over to the rubble and grabbed Larry’s wand and he quickly ran out of the crumbling castle with the wand and Larry slowly felt feeling return to him.
Larry growled as he slowly shuffled his way out of the rubble and he walked towards his chambers and he took in the damage his castle had taken. Cracks run up and down the walls and holes riddled the place and Larry gave a growl.
He pushed open the door but all it did was make the door break from its hinges and he gave a sigh and walked into the room and laid onto the bed. He let out a puff of smoke as he counted the new failure he had suffered from the damn plumber.
Larry growled as he replayed all of his failures and defeats he had gotten because of a plumber. A plumber! He could feel more anger well up in him and he was about to let out a cry of rage but instead he felt a strange tingling on his tail and it slowly crawled up his tail.
He whipped his head back to look at his tail and he saw it was being consumed by a blue glowing mass. He let out a growl and let out a burst of blue fire onto the mass but his eyes widened when aid did nothing and the mass creeped faster over him.
Larry let out a cry of fear and he started to whip his tail back and forth while blowing more flames but the mass just creeped over his tail and spread around his shell and body and he suddenly felt a rush of pain hit him and with one more cry of fear and pain, the prince of trickery vanished.
Slowly Larry woke up to a splitting headache and pain in his tail. He opened his bleary eyes and he scanned the room he was in and saw he was in a room made of crumbling blue stone with vines and grass taking over.
He pushed himself up onto his legs and looked around to get an idea of where he was but he couldn’t find any clues. Suddenly he heard a sinister laugh and a familiar blue mass swept in and struck the ground and slowly took the form of...a horse?
She was pure black with blue armor covering her head and barrel and she grinned at Larry and he saw her teeth were sharp and she also had two slit turquoise eyes. But the weirdest was her flank which looked like a crescent moon with purple splotches.
“Hmmmm you may be promising.” She spoke with a purr and Larry whimpered at her as she was much taller than him in height. She looked a bit confused and tilted her head. “You must be a smart creature but none the less my pet.” She laughed and then she noticed something. The small turtle in front of her was shaking and she knew it wasn't fear.
“You dare mock me! I am Larry Koopa! Soon to be King of the Koopas!” He yelled and the horses eyes widened.
“You can talk!?” She exclaimed before calming herself down. “No, I am not mocking you Prince Larry.” She spoke in a calm and playful tone and she slowly circled Larry. “I was simply startled is all.”
Larry just sat on the ground and pouted. “I see, now why am I here?” He questioned with a glare. She then bowed to Larry.
“I was using a spell that would search the universe for a strong beast. And it seems the strong monster is you.” She explained and Larry grinned at the thought of being a monster and he nodded.
“Interesting indeed, I guess I could be-” Suddenly there were voices far off in what he guessed was another part of the castle. The horse looked over at the direction of the sound and grinned.
“I will be back.” She said with glee and exploded into the blue mass and slithered away. Once Larry was sure the horse was gone he let his facade fall and a sneer took its place. Him? Help her? Larry Cheatsy Koopa does not help. He then grinned. But he does trick.
Soon he heard the mass burst into existence and suddenly in a flash a lavender horse with a purple mane with a pink streak and horn appeared. She let out a gasp as her eyes sprang open and she looked straight at Larry who just grinned and waved.
“Nightmare Moon! Show yourself!” The unicorn yelled and the blue mass crashed down and she reformed. She let out another evil laugh but the little unicorn let out a snort and started to paw at the ground. Is she gonna?
Apparently Nightmare was thinking the same thing. “You're kidding, you’re kidding, right?” but all the unicorn did was start to charge at her and Nightmare let out a laugh before she charged as well.
Why does this give me a sense of deja vu?
He then noticed the purple unicorn’s horn was glowing and when she was about to be skewed by Nightmare’s horn, she vanished in a blinding light causing Larry to yelp from the light and stumble back.
He then heard the unicorn mumble to herself. “Just one spark, come on!” When his vision cleared he saw her horn was lifting six orbs in the air and they started to spin around Nightmare whose eyes widened.
“No, No!” She yelled and waited to be hit with the orbs...but all they did was fall to the ground. There was a silence before Larry said.
“Fail.”
Nightmare started to laugh maniacally and lifted her two front hooves and smashed them down causing the orbs to shatter. Twilight watched in pure terror as the pieces fell to the ground and Nightmare summoned a cloud of blue mass that started to shoot out lighting.
“ You little foal! Thinking you could defeat me? Now you will never see your princess, or your sun! The night will last forever!” She laughed more and Larry was surprised. The villain never wins, so how-
Suddenly five other ponies ran in and they all glared straight at Nightmare and from the look of it, Twilight has just realized something.
“You think you can destroy The Elements of Harmony just like that? Well, you're wrong, because the spirits of The Elements of Harmony are right here.” Twilight called out and Larry and Nightmare both raised an eyebrow.
“What.” They both questioned.
“Applejack,” She pointed to an orange mare with a yellow mane tied in a ponytail and wearing a stetson. “who reassured me when I was in doubt, represents the spirit of honesty!”
This has to be a joke
“Fluttershy,” She pointed to a butter colored winged horse with a long pink mane and tail “who tamed the manticore with her compassion, represents the spirit of kindness!”
I think I’m going to be sick.
“Pinkie Pie,” She pointed to a very pink pony with a frizzled pink mane and tail. “who banished fear by giggling in the face of danger, represents the spirit of laughter!”
Yup, I feel the bile rising in my throat already.
“Rarity,” She pointed to a white unicorn who had a swirled purple mane and blue eyeshadow “who calmed a sorrowful serpent with a meaningful gift represents the spirit of generosity!”
My bullshit meter is rising.
“And Rainbow Dash,” She then pointed to a flying cyan pony with a rainbow mane “who could not abandon her friends for her own heart's desire represents the spirit of loyalty!”
Nightmare actually looked scared and watched as the shards from the crushed elements glowed different colors and floated to the ponies and formed necklaces around their necks, all except Twilight.
Nightmare slowly regained her composure and said “You still don't have the sixth Element! The spark didn't work!” Larry watched and then he noticed Twilight was still smiling.
“But it did! A different kind of spark. I felt it the very moment I realized how happy I was to hear you, to see you, how much I cared about you. The spark ignited inside me when I realized that you all are my friends!”
Suddenly a golden crown formed on her head and on top was a purple pointed star and Larry noticed his cuffs glowing blue.“You see, Nightmare Moon, when those Elements are ignited by the... the spark, that resides in the heart of us all, it creates the sixth element: the element of magic!”
They then all floated into the air and light blasted from them and a large rainbow shot out from them. Then he felt himself get pulled in front of Nightmare and the rainbow was getting close. Larry’s eyes widened and when it hit him he started to float into the air.
Then he was turned around to look at Nightmare who was grinning like she had won. Larry felt his chest rise and smoke pour from his nose and with a roar he let out a torrent of rainbow flames that consumed Nightmare Moon.
“No! Noooo!” Nightmare screamed and the fire slowly shrank as did Nightmare and laying there was a frail looking alicorn with a small blue mane. Larry and the other six floated down to the floor and Larry fell flat on his chest.
“Ow that's smarts.” He whimpered out. He then heard the sounds of the other ponies groaning and he slowly stood up and he looked over to see the other’s getting up and staring at him. Three were glaring, one was disgusted, one looked terrified and one just smiled.
“Well done everypony.” They heard an angelic voice said and they looked over to see a alicorn who was the same height as Nightmare Moon. She had white fur and a kaleidoscope like mane and leaning onto her was the small blue alicorn.
“Princess Celestia!” They all exclaimed and bowed, all except Twilight who ran over to Celetia and nuzzled her. The princess smiled and nuzzled back then she looked over at Larry and her smile...widened.
“Hello and who might you be?” She asked and Larry whimpered but answered.
“I-I am Larry Koopa. P-Prince of the Koopas.” Celestia nodded and walked up to Larry.
“I must thank you for keeping my student and her friends safe.” Larry suddenly let out a cackle of laughter.
“I don’t care about them! I just wanted revenge on that mare.” Celestia’s smile didn't waver and she nodded.
“Well I hope we can work things out with you Prince Larry. In the mean time I would like to know if you can work.” Celestia said and Larry nodded.
“Of course I can work. Depends on what I am doing.” Celestia looked over at Applejack and spoke.
“Applejack, you wouldn't mind another ho- I mean claw to help your farm would you?” Applejack looked over at the shaking Larry then slowly she nodded.
“S-Sure thing princess, he can work at the farm.” Celestia nodded.
“Thank you Applejack. Now, me and my sister must return to Cantorlot. Goodbye My little ponies.” And with a flash of light, they were gone.
They stood there for a minute before Larry finally spoke.
“Welp, let's get back to where ever you ponies live.”
