Of course, some ponies learned that lesson too late. Some never learned it at all.
Rainbow Dash guzzled what must have been her fifth mug that evening and belched after licking the froth off her lips. She wasn't drunk -- her speech hadn't even been affected yet. She'd only had enough to become buzzed, and her faculties were still frustratingly-intact, except for the occasional inappropriate comment. "Shake that plot, Rares!" had caught a few of her friends unawares, and sniffing Applejack's mane had only made her crave more drink.
"Aaaand, time!" Twilight said.
Fluttershy sighed in relief as the princess levitated the stack of plates off her forehead. They'd only been paper ones, but she still had no desire to hurt their feelings.
"Ummm... does that mean it's my turn?" she asked timidly.
"She doesn't seriously need a turn, does she?" Rainbow belched loudly, the rude noise echoing off the boutique's walls. "I can't count on one hoof how many times I've been dared to go flower-picking with her."
She received a stern glare from Rarity.
"Darling, please. Try to control your outbursts... and bodily expulsions."
"I mean, seriously! Can somepony dare for her already? I'm tired of making macaroni art..."
"Oh..." The cream-colored pegasus blushed. "I-I'm sor--"
"Rainbow, take it easy. Fluttershy don't know what she's doin' in this game," Applejack said sternly, placing a hoof on her backside and forcing her to sit again.
"No, seriously, watch this. It's gonna be something lame. Watch, watch..." the pegasus said, gulping back another drink.
Fluttershy turned to Rarity and opened her mouth.
"LAAAAAAME!" Rainbow said, before pausing. "Oh, sorry, you didn't say anything yet. Go 'head."
The timid pegasus pouted, her face a fiery red.
Rarity reached over a patted her friend on the withers. "It's alright, darling. You're doing fine."
Fluttershy nodded, her embarrassment not abating.
"It's okay, Fluttershy," Twilight said softly. "Just do your best."
She timidly nodded and looked between her friends, before landing a pair of angry -- or, at least, upset -- eyes on the pegasus sitting opposite her.
Rainbow quirked her eyebrow.
"T-t-truth or Dare?" she asked, nervously.
The athlete blinked in mild surprise. Then again, she thought, I guess she would want some kind of revenge.
"Alright. Okay," Rainbow said with a nonchalant shrug. "Dare me, Your Lameness."
Applejack glared at the cidered-up pegasus and growled. "Rainbow..."
"I-I..." Fluttershy stammered, her face bright red.
"LAAAAAME!" she interrupted.
"RAINBOW! SHUT UP!" the other four shouted in tandem.
"Okay, okay, sheesh..." she muttered. "C'mon, Fluttershy." She paused. "And make it a fun one this time. No more petal-weaving bullcrap..."
The other four glared a moment, silencing the pegasus. Even Pinkie seemed agitated with her, so she bravely shut her mouth. They all then stared expectingly at their quiet friend.
Her teal eyes darted from one pony to the next.
Her gaze landed on Applejack, who nodded and smiled at her encouragingly.
She covered her face.
"I... I DARE YOU AND APPLEJACK HAVE SEX TO SEE WHO LASTS LONGER!"
The whole world died for a split second. Air turned to lead, blood froze in ponies' veins, and sight itself began to burn with the unblinking eyes of the five friends.
Rainbow's mug dropped out of her hoof, and her eyes slowly rotated to her right.
Applejack turned and looked at her with the same wide-eyed gape before both turned to look at the shy filly.

“Are we... are we seriously doing this?” Rainbow asked, glimpsing wide-eyed at the bed. It had been a couple hours since the two had left the party, and the shock had yet to truly wear off. She'd even had time to sober up, if just enough to realize the pile of fecal matter she'd landed herself and Applejack in. Or perhaps it was simple disbelief that clung tightly to her mind.
“Hey, featherbrain, it was your own cockamamie idea! I toldja from the start that Fluttershy didn’t know what she was doin’!”
“Oh, hay, I know that!” The pegasus gulped, shuffling from hoof to hoof. “I just… I didn’t think she had that kind of… imagination on 'er…”
Applejack rolled her eyes and softly set her hat down on the nightstand. “You’ve literally known ‘er since y'all were little fillies. You tellin’ me she’s never once said anything about… uhh… s-sex or anything like that?” she asked, the blush on her face drowning her freckles in a sea of embarrassment.
Rainbow shrugged and leaned against her friend’s dresser. “Well… I mean… I never really paid too much attention to what all she said when we were little… she was always whining about something… and then saying sorry for whatever it was she was whining about… I just learned to tune ‘er out.”
“Well, great,” the farmpony huffed, scratching herself with her hoof. “Now you and yer big mouth have us both in trouble. I don't even know what I did to get roped into this!”
“Look, when I said for her to give me a fun dare, I thought she’d go with like... a Sonic Rainboom, or maybe even an open-mouth kiss or something! You’ve been around Fluttershy before! I mean, does her and sex mesh in your head – like, at all?!”
“I wouldn’t’ve believed it either, okay?!” Applejack protested, pulling the tie out of her mane. "But ya had to know somethin' like this was comin'!"
“I know! I know, for Pete's sake! But it’s... it's flippin’ Fluttershy we’re talking about here!”
“And what the heck was she talking about anyway, ‘seein' who lasts longer’?!”
“Right!”

The two paused and averted their eyes from each other when they realized they'd agreed on something.
After an extended pause, Rainbow looked her friend's way.
“I mean… we can still say we… like, did it… y’know?”
The farmgirl looked back, canting her eyebrow as she undid the tie in her tail.
“‘Cause, y’know, it’s just you and me, right?” the pegasus asked, motioning to the rest of the room. “We’re kind of alone right now. We could just tell ‘em we did it and nopony would ever know… I mean, as long as you keep your honest mouth shut,” she said with a smirk.
Applejack rolled her eyes. “And for once, you got a pretty good idea,” she said with a snort. Rolling her shoulders, she plopped onto the edge of her bed. “‘Sides, with as much as I see ya, I kinda like the idea of lookin’ you in the eye again. And I don’t rightly know if I could if we did… that.”
Which eye? Rainbow thought cheekily for an instant, before she paused and looked at Applejack. A grin crossed her face.
“Seriously? You can’t even say ‘sex’ without having a moral seizure?”
“Shut up! I can too!” Her friend paused. “I-it’s just not a polite conversational word…”
“You really are a goody-two-horseshoes, AJ,” the pegasus chortled, flopping onto the foot of the bed and resting her head back against her legs. "I bet before I came along, you didn't even know what the definition of 'fun' was."
“Oh, hush yer yap. Just 'cause I don't… I don’t much like talkin’ about that kind of stuff, don't mean I don't know what fun is.”
“Yeah, sure.” Rainbow made a show out of a yawn and stretched towards the ceiling. “So what are we supposed to do? We fake sweaty-nasty-goodtimes for a couple hours and rough up our manes to make it look like we really did do something, go back to the party and tell ‘em you came first – what the hay are we supposed to do in the meantime? I mean, the hair-messing should take... what, like two seconds?”
“Well I–” Applejack paused and turned to scowl at her friend. “Me?”
Rainbow looked at her quizzically.
“What the hay’s that supposed to mean?” the earth pony pouted. “What in Equestria makes you think you could... last longer in the sack than I could?”
The pegasus sat up and gave her a smirk. “Come on, AJ. You won’t even talk about sex. What makes you think you could even do anything other than lay there and scream my name?”
“Well what makes you think I wouldn’t... d-do somethin’?!” the farmgirl asked indignantly. “I’ll have you know that I like the thought of sex as much as the next mare!”
Rainbow bit her lip humorously. “You just won’t talk about it, right?”
“I-I… sh-shut up...”
Grinning, the pegasus threw her hoof around her friend and pulled her close. “Face it, AJ. You’d be a scrub if we went for a roll in the hay. I’d have you begging me for more in ten seconds flat.”
“Now you wait just a cotton-pickin’ minute!” Applejack snorted, turning and staring her friend straight in the eyes. “I ain’t never heard you talk about any sex you ever had before! What makes you think you’re some kind of catch, anyway?!”
“Uhhh… duh? What do you think we pegasi do when we’re up in the clouds with nothing better to do?” Rainbow breathed on her hoof and buffed her chest. “I’ve clopped more times than you’ve probably ever had thoughts about sex in your whole life, AJ.”
“So you ain’t never been with somepony either?”
Rainbow lifted a hoof and froze, her cheeks turning an off-pink. “W-well, no… but–”
Applejack smirked. “That’s what I figured. Yer all talk and no trot, sugarcube.”
Frowning, the pegasus pressed her nose challengingly against her friend’s. “Oh yeah? Well, I’d be willing to bet bits that you’ve never even touched yourself before!”
“Oh, please! Whaddya think I get up to when I’m out in the orchards and got no trees to buck?” Applejack immediately realized what she said, and turned a vivid crimson.
Rainbow blinked, magenta eyes widening momentarily. She narrowed them again and leaned in closer, her cocky grin glinting white in Luna's moonlight. “You wouldn’t stand a chance…”
Applejack pressed back. “Shut up! I’d lay you out like a bag of apples!”
Silence. The friction of the two’s glares could have spawned lightning.
Rainbow was on top of her the next moment, eliciting a squeak of surprise from Applejack. The pair became a flurry of grunts and growls and hooves as they wrestled back and forth atop the covers. The two exchanged positions top and bottom across the length of the bed several times.
It was Rainbow Dash who managed to pin her friend’s hooves to the bed first.
Applejack struggled, but the heat of the activity had drained her strength, and Rainbow's extra appendages gave her a decided advantage.
“Like a bag of apples?” Rainbow said with a smirk.
A pair of orange, warm lips met hers the next moment. Momentarily stunned, the pegasus’s lighter body made her position a vulnerable one. Applejack rolled her over the next instant and was on top of her, using her greater weight to pin her opponent once again.
She glared with a feral smile, her freckles fading with the spreading scarlet haze on her cheeks.
“Like a bag of apples,” she mocked affirmatively.
The two stared at one another for a long moment, gazes meeting. Something that went unsaid was translated through the long stare, like a signal through a telegraph wire.
Then their lips merged again, hungrily, passionately, fueled by a spark that had burst into flame with the added tinder of Applejack's kiss.
Rainbow pulled her friend closer with an aggressive growl, catching her friend off-guard for an instant. It was enough to gain even ground.
When the two settled down, they lay facing each other, glazed in perspiration, and breathing heavily for the limited amount of effort they had both expended.
The pair blinked at each other.
“Uhhh…” Applejack turned a deep shade of red. “I-I can explain…”
“Really? Could you help me out a little bit, then?” Rainbow asked.
“U-ummm…” The farmpony froze and looked away. “N-never mind… I guess I can't.”
“Seriously, AJ… what the hay was that?”
“I don’t know, okay?!” the earth pony snapped. “You were on top of me, I couldn’t fight back, and I didn’t wanna hurt ya too bad, s-so…” She gulped. “It was just the first thing I thought of, okay? Y-you were... t-talkin' about sex and... and stuff that... and I just kinda thought of it and... d-did it..."
Rainbow sat up at the same time Applejack decided it prudent to do so and fixed her with an intense but unreadable stare.
Applejack scratched her jaw, folding her ears. “I’m sorry.”
“You’re a terrible liar, y’know.” Rainbow smirked.
She was on top of the farmpony again in the next instant, and Applejack grunted at the sudden weight tackling her backwards. It was gentler, less fierce this time. But it was authoritative and firm.
“Such a bad liar…” she repeated.
“R-Rainbow! What’re you–”
Cut off by her friend’s lips once again, the earth pony’s whimpering protests were drowned out by the animalistic growls and grunts of her pegasus friend pressing her into the mattress. A pair of powerful cyan wings wrapped around her torso and held her close and snug, limiting her range of motion.
Applejack managed to pull her lips away for the merest gasp of air. “Rainbow, wai–”
Her words were stolen from her again by another deep and hot kiss, before the pegasus slowly pulled away, milking her lips for every honey-sweet tingle they were worth.
“Rainbow, I can’t breathe…” the farmgirl panted, her eyes dizzied and unfocused. Her forehooves pressed against her friend’s chest, but Rainbow’s wings pulled harder, while her hooves kept her pressed down and rooted firmly against the bed.

Applejack’s eyes widened and she gaped at her grinning friend.

The struggling earth pony said nothing and heaved for breath several more times.
Rainbow’s wings released her, drawing Applejack back to the surface of full consciousness, only to have her rear leg seized and lifted up.
“Wh-whoa!” she squeaked. A flash of cool air across her moist nethers lit up her face again, and blood surged into her ears with the sudden pounding of her heart. “R-Rainbow! Wh-what're you–” she tried to protest – or perhaps that was simply surprise she felt.

Applejack opened her mouth to protest, but all that came out was a long, adorable coo as Rainbow pressed forward. Rainbow blushed and rolled onto her back, folding her wings and laying on the pillow with the fakest smug expression the farmgirl had ever seen on her. “T-totally…” she replied softly. “Piece of cake.”
Applejack blinked and shuffled awkwardly.
Only as the heat of the moment passed did it occur to the farmpony just what had happened.
“You… you okay?” the pegasus panted.
With her face a deep scarlet, Applejack turned her eyes away, looking towards the windows that had been blurred over by the steam of their collective breaths.
“I… uhh…”
Rainbow sat up.
“AJ?”
The earth pony scratched her foreleg timidly, eyes searching for explanations hidden in the ripped quilt atop her bed.
It was the familiar prickliness of Rainbow’s wings wrapping around her, her hooves enveloping her affectionately, that caught her attention.
“Th-that was…” she stammered, struggling for the words to say.
“Weird?” Rainbow tried.
Applejack searched the air with her eyes for a moment, and finally nodded.
“And… maybe a little bit awesome?”
The earth pony looked up, blinking her green eyes.
Rainbow brushed her tongue affectionately along a freckled cheek, causing her friend to shiver.
“I mean… you weren’t just a little awesome,” she admitted. It was the pegasus’s turn to blush. “I mean, you were… you were amazingly awesome... like, whatever it was you did with your mouth—”
“I ain’t listenin’! Lalalalala!” the earth pony protested, squishing her ears against her head with her hooves.
“Awww, come on, AJ!” Rainbow cackled, softly pushing her friend back to the mattress. “You liked it too. I know you did…” She winked. “Your body’s about as good at lying as you are…”
“Sh-shut up…”
“Heeheeheehee!”
In spite of her annoyance, Applejack couldn’t help the smile that crossed her lips as Rainbow peppered her neck with soft smooches. Her embrace was warm, and the feeling of satisfaction she got from seeing her friend so happy and eager to be so close to her overwrote any uncertainty she might have been feeling.
The tip of one of Rainbow’s wings brushed over her cutie mark, causing the earth pony to jump and snatch a quick breath before her friend’s lips closed over hers once again.
She didn’t fight it. She couldn’t – not and be honest with herself anyway. She melted into the kiss Rainbow brought to her, and a few beads of sweat formed on her brow as the warm body of her friend pressed firmly closer.
“R-Rainbow…” she breathed.
“Mmm…” the pegasus replied, smooching the underside of her chin. “So… ready for round two?”
Applejack looked at her, green eyes wide. “Wh-whaddya mean round two?”
“Well, the dare was, if I remember right, was to see which of us would come first…”
Applejack blinked, gaping.
Rainbow smirked and pressed against the earth pony, claiming one of her ears in her teeth. “I mean, we’ve gotta go two-out-of-three if we want it be be fair…” she whispered in a husky voice. She leaned in closer, her wings tightening around her friend’s frame. “I mean, that last time could’ve just been a fluke…” Another kiss. “You wanna know for sure, right?”
Applejack’s jaw hung slack as Rainbow’s eyes became awash with a burning tide of lust.
“Y-you can’t be ser–!”
Her words were cut off for the umpteenth time that evening as her predatory friend pushed her into another kiss…

It was the middle of the night when Applejack and Rainbow Dash knocked on the door to Rarity's boutique.
A few moments later, Twilight answered the door and gave the pair an odd look.
Rainbow kicked awkwardly at the dirt. Her normally-streamlined mane seemed to be suffering from a cowlick and was frazzled by heat and moisture, while her normally well-maintained wings were ruffled with feathers sticking out in every direction.
Applejack was still trying to pat down her frazzled mane and tail. She froze as a rabbit in the path of a runaway wagon when Twilight caught her gaze, and quickly lowered her hat to hide her embarrassment.
Without a word, Twilight stepped aside to allow the pair inside, and the group stepped into the main parlor.
Pinkie, Fluttershy and Rarity were discussing something inane when the three made their appearance.
Rarity nearly dropped her crumpet.
Fluttershy turned blood-red in the face and hid her muzzle behind her sleeping bag.
Pinkie blinked and stared.
"'Sup?" Rainbow said nonchalantly, strolling over to her own bag and fluffing her pillow.
Applejack quietly atop her own and found something fascinating about the texture of the nylon.
"Umm..." Twilight said, eyes darting confusingly from one friend to the next.
Silence reigned, and nopony seemed ready to speak.
At last, Pinkie coughed into her hoof. "Okay... I'll bite first." She rested on her sleeping bag and crossed her forelegs casually as she could manage. "Sooooooo... sex, huh?"
Rainbow licked her lips, seeming to consider her answer. She shrugged and looked at the ground. "Yep."
Pinkie Pie stroked her chin and considered. "Was it... ummmm... good?"
The pegasus pulled herself up to her barrel in her sleeping bag and sat, avoiding eye contact by looking around the room. After a moment's pause, and a quick glimpse at Applejack's bruised flank, she looked up at the ceiling. "Yep."
Rarity cleared her throat, trying desperately to hide her blush with a quick sip of tea.
"S-so... the two of you actually... umm... went through with it, then?"
Rainbow nodded, while Applejack nibbled on the edge of her lip. "Eeyup..."
"U-ummm..." Fluttershy stammered, fidgeting on her own cut of the space, "th-that is... d-did one of you... win?"
Rainbow looked sidelong at the earth pony turning a shade of scarlet in her cheeks. "Uhhhh..." Then it was at last her turn to blush. She chuckled sheepishly, beads of sweat breaking out on her forehead. "Yep..."
The cream-colored mare's wings bristled, and she came quickly out of her cover. "Oh! Who was it?" she asked... a bit too eagerly.
Rarity's eyes bulged at the (supposedly) timid pegasus. "FLUTTERSHY!" she snapped. "Manners, darling!"
Scratching her hoof through her mane, Rainbow's cheeks turned an off-pink. "Eheheh... w-well... see... uhhh... Applejack did, like, this really unfair thing with her tongue, and... uhh..."
Fluttershy bolted upright, her eyes glinting. "S-so Applejack outlasted you?"
Rainbow scuffed her hoof against her sleeping bag.
Applejack lowered her hat over her eyes. "T-two-to-one..."
Fluttershy beamed, as though a deep-seated wish of hers had at last come true. "Applejack won?!"
Rainbow smirked. "Yeah... let her think that..." she muttered, reaching out and poking her lover's cutie mark playfully.
Descending into a fit of euphoric giggles, Fluttershy squeezed her pillow delightedly. "Yes, she did, didn't she?" she cooed.
"FLUTTERSHY!" Rarity scolded wide-eyed once more. "I've never seen this side of you before!"
"O-oh... you haven't? I'm sorry..."
Pinkie looked between the farmpony and the athlete and chewed on her lip, before her eyes landed on the pegasus. "So, are you gonna... like, buy her breakfast or something?"
"D-don't be silly, girls!" Twilight finally cut in with a blush. "Mares can't have sexual intercourse with other mares!" She shook her head with a chuckle. "Sillies..." she said with an eyetwitch.
The other four stared at the princess, mouths agape. Even Applejack raised her gaze enough to see if the princess was joking.
"I-I mean... y-you n-need a phallus to be capable of performing acts of mating, y'know... Eheheh."
Continued staring.
"D-don't you...?" she asked, her face turning bright red.
