Chapter 1: Where the Road Begins
The sun sets, giving the afternoon sky an orange and violet tint as stars obscuridly stretch above the clouds. The trees reflect a marvelous shade of yellow and green as you walk on the dirt pathway. You loved sunsets. The various colours conjoined to make one beautiful view, and the way it made you feel. A sense of relaxation and rebirth.
Speaking of rebirth, you take form of a light sky blue pegasus with a cyan and teal mane. Your cutie mark is a picture of a group of three raindrops in a falling motion. The only problem is you haven't thought of a name for yourself. You hope that no one will ask until you find a name that seems adequate for you.
'Even if we never liked Celestia, she sure knows how to make a view.' You think to yourself, looking at the sunset.
You continue admiring the sight and trotting down the dirt road. A couple minutes later, you spot a sign in your peripherals. You now hold a hint of curiosity as you fly towards the sign.
Welcome to Ponyville The sign says.
Looking upwards, you see a small town with a tall building in the center.
'Building must be important.' You silently laugh at the horrible attempt of making a joke.
You fly higher just below the clouds to get a look at Ponyville. Overlooking the town, you're taken by surprise for there aren't any ponies in sight. It's strange, you would think there would be at least a few ponies out, it's not too late to go to bed. You were about to set your hoof on the ground when you hear a growl. You look below your chest to find that your stomach is telling you it needs food. Holding your now pleading belly, you land back on the ground and look around the area in search for any type of food. You find yourself on the outskirts of town again. This time, your eyes fall on what seems to be an orchard. With a bit of hope, you trot over to find that whatever the trees were producing had been harvested already. Disapointed you returned to scavenge for something to eat. Turning around a tree, you spot an apple barely hidden between the blades of grass.
'No, I'm not eating that. It probably rotten anyways, seeing how it ended up on the ground.'
As you finish your thought, your stomach says otherwise. You contemplate for a few seconds whether or not you should eat the apple. Your stomach interrupts once more as you defeatingly walk up to the apple. You pick it up, take a seat on the grass, and quickly take a bite out of the glowing red fruit. As you start masticating a flow of flavour fills your tastebuds with such delight.
'Such...*Munch*...a good...*Munch*...apple!'
You honestly didn't care if it might of been rotten. You loved the deliciousness it had to offer. You were about halfway finished with your 'treat' when your ear twitches in response to somepony yelling.
"Hey! What're'ya think 'yer doin'!?"
'Uh-oh.' You immediately freeze as you see an orange mare with a Stetson hat running towards you.
'I'm definately in trouble. I gotta get outta here! But why can't I move!?' You worry as you sit frozen in place.
You see the mare jump and tackle you down, followed by a sequence of lights quickly flashing as you soon find yourself laying in a supine position with an angry country mare pinning you down. You lay there blushing in silence not making eye contact as you wait for the mare to catch her breath. Thinking of this panting mare on top of you is not helping your growing blush.
"You... thief, those apples... aren't fer free 'ya know?" The mare says with a serious tone in her voice.
"But, I found this on the ground. I thought you might of not wanted it anymore." You say, still avoiding eye contact.
The mare's eyes widen as she replies "Property is still property, 'specially if it's on property!" She pauses then continues in a more softer intimidating tone. "Ah 'otta report ya fer intrudin' and stealin'."
If you go to prison, they'll for sure find out your a changeling. And soon enough, you might even be tortured while inside. Prison is one place you surely want to stay out of.
Worried, you start to struggle a bit. But there's no avail, this mare has you in a tight hold.
You soon reply "Please no! I'll do anything! I'll make up for it! Please! Just don't do that!"
The mare slightly smirks as, you assume, an idea pops on her head.
"Okay... but 'imma put you 'ta work fer yer troublemakin'." She exclaims
Instant relief fills your head as you unknowingly nodded your head to her proposition.
"I guess it's a deal.." She says.
'Wait... What did I agree to?!'
"So fer the next few days, ah expect ya to be here at five o'clock... IN THE MORNIN'."
Your pupils contract as her final words hit your ears. She gets off and leaves you in an instant as you lay, paralytic to what she just said.
'Five o'clock... IN THE MORNING?! You think.
Once you realize you're laying on your back, looking like you saw a ghost, you quickly get back on your hooves. Don't want to cause any more attention than you already have. You shortly start wandering back to the middle of the town.
'Ha! This mare must be crazy if she thinks I'm going to wake that early.' You protest in your mind.
The sun is now gone, and replaced by the presence of the moon and the stars now shined their brightest. With that you notice that you don't have a place to stay.
'I should probably find a place to rest. I'm feeling a bit fatigued.
After a bit of wandering you walk to what seems to what seems to be the town park, and lay down on the bench.
'This isn't the best choice for a matress, But it will certainly do. I just hope nopony will notice me sleeping on this bench.'
You're glad nopony knows who you really are. Your secret.
'One thing's for sure, I need a house if I want to keep living here.' You've taken a liking to this place, not much goes on and there is certainly no ponies around. That's what you assume...
Soon enough your eyelids slowly cover your exhausted eyes, as sleep finally takes a hold of you.
